882  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will it hit 20K $ by end of 2017 on: December 03, 2017, 12:14:26 PM
Will it hit 20K $ by end of 2017
That sort of speculation is way out of line. Proper speculation should be done according to the charts, not random predictions. Of course, sometimes the prices go way different from what is expected from the charts, but that's because the functionality of markets, and the factors behind it. 20k is no joke, maybe we can see this happening by like March 2018 or after that. Till then the price isn't likely to go to 20k$.
883  Economy / Economics / Re: short term investment or long term invesetment on: December 02, 2017, 02:15:45 PM
...
Obviously short term is better, and the reason is pretty much clear. Long term is too long basically and hardly people have enough patience to wait for 10 years to get a return on investment. With cost of living increasing more and more by the day, long term investments aren't supported much by investors ,and there are so many investors who only depend on these investments. There are traders who cash out on a daily basis, some cash out the moment they get a certain amount of profit, some cash out the moment they realize that the price is going below the invested initial price.

Short term investments sometimes give huge profits too just like the long term ones, and hardly 1-5% of the investors would love to invest for a long term basis as they already might be having great financial support, and they do not lack patience most importantly, and show sheer confidence in their investments.
884  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has Bitcoin become proof of stake without anyone noticing? on: December 01, 2017, 09:22:32 PM
Now listen I'm not talking in the form of confirmating transactions but in the form of earning based on the amount held.

Bitcoin has been fork and fork planned on the main chain where you get x amount of the forked coin for the amount held at time of the snapshot.

You take these forks and sell them to increase your mainchain holdings, it's definitely a form of interest based on amount held we just don't know how much. Bitcoin cash gave us a 10% stake, Bitcoin gold I'm not sure how much and I'm hearing about a Bitcoin diamond. It seems this will be a more and more common thing that should be taken into account when investing long term.

So as we progress and forks are more common should we start to anticipate an interest earned by holding main chain and dumping forks?
Dude, bitcoin diamond is a scam (seriously)  ,stay away from it.  Proof of stake or not, these forks aren't helping the community to be in a better place, rather some people are losing funds, getting scammed etc. There needs to be some sort of control over these forks otherwise they will get abused more and more. And people getting earning for free without any personal contribution is somewhat considered to be scammy, because from our point of view its free money, so we gladly accept it but from the scammers point of view it is a major advantage for them. I have lost hope in forks since the birth of bitcoin gold.
885  Economy / Speculation / Re: $11k - when do you sell on: December 01, 2017, 07:34:48 PM
Hey guys,

lets make it short:
1) yes bitcoin is the future and the price will increase on the long run, but:
2) we are currently obv. bubbling (what is not happening the first time).

So my question is - do you sell now in order to get a cheaper entry soon?

I think you guys agree that there has to be a price correction in the nearer future...

Thanks for your input!
The current price is actually not bad if you want to sell right now, I'd definitely recommend. You can sell later also, the amount will be more or less by a few dollars given you don't sell in lots and a comparatively small amount in terms of bitcoin. The price will likely dip in January, the current charts point out that corrections are most likely to happen in the beginning of 2018. So stay frosty ,buy and sell bitcoin, be careful ,don't get scammed, a lot of bastards are out there just for scamming.
886  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: CME futures to suppress the price in the long-term? on: December 01, 2017, 06:48:16 PM
From the very onset, I believed that the introduction of CME futures would undoubtedly be a good thing for bitcoin. The inflow of institutional cash would surely push the prices to new records.

However, recently a thought crossed my mind... Is it possible that futures would be used by banks to suppress the prices instead, in much the same way the prices for gold and silver are being suppressed right now? And if so, what could be their motivation behind it?

Could this be some futile effort to discredit Bitcoin and drive attention away from it? But the thing is that I don't believe Bitcoin itself possess any threat to the financial system. Transactions are too slow, costly and the network cannot support nearly enough transactions to allow for real world business applications. The blockchain technology behind bitcoin is a totally different story though. THIS is the big disruptor to the financial system, and there is no stopping it with any form of market manipulation.

So my thoughts are mixed on this. In the short run I believe the inflow of institutional cash could push prices higher. In the long-run though I suspect there may be attempts to suppress the prices... to what end I am not quite sure.

What do you think?

Even if bitcoin doesn't posses any threat against the financial system of any economy, remember the fact that it is decentralized. Number two, it has got so much attention and the number of scams also have been quite a long this year. The CME group can be seen as an opportunity as well as a threat. Because the instituinal cash would be way more than the normal crypto whales inventory, no doubt in that. So the prices will get influenced way easily but if the SEC decides to limit the power of CME, well that'd be helpful. Another issue is that NASDAQ has also decided to list bitcoin futures by the first half of 2018,this also can affect the normal markets. And yeah, CME has officially decide to list bitcoin futures on December 18.
887  Economy / Economics / Re: How futures on bitcoin will work? on: November 30, 2017, 08:21:34 PM
HI ALL,

As everyone knows the futures on bitcoin will be available soon. CME Group plans to launch them in 2017 Q4.
They state the settlement will be in dollars. So futures buyers does not have to deal with bitcoins. That's a bit strange to me. Who will deal with bitcoins than?

Investor buys 1 contract. It is 5 bitcoins. After a certain time if the price (calculated from several exchanges) goes up.
The buyer will receive profit. But who will pay?

As i understand the futures sellers will pay that profit. But they have to get this profit from selling bitcoins at a higher price.
So futures sellers will have to REALLY buy bitcoins. Not futures buyers.

Am i correct? This subject seems unclear to me.
Not only CME group, even NASDAQ(competitor of CME group)  has decided to launch bitcoin futures before  the first half of next year. The markets have a buyer and seller almost all the time, if the price is almost the same that others are paying for, if the price is unreasonable no one will buy it. Buyers will buy and sellers will sell no matter what the price is because that's the basic functionality of markets.

889  Economy / Economics / Re: Still Buying Bitcoin at $10K? on: November 29, 2017, 04:23:46 AM

After going through the fire this year with some big challenges thrown its way and after experiencing some ups and downs in price, Bitcoin made big surprising moves as it finally inched into the $10,000 mark and right now as I am writing this thread it is still making some surge...maybe it is thinking of going ahead into the $11,000 level soon.

Based on the projection that it can go as high as $40,000 next year, we can conclude that $10,000 is still cheap and that there is still a big room to grow for Bitcoin. However, we all know that corrections can possibly happen anytime soon. At this rate, are you still buying Bitcoin or would you still recommend to folks you know to get into Bitcoin?

Long live, Bitcoin and cryptocurrency!!!!

Of course the recommendation will continue to exist from my part, after all the trust for bitcoin is growing finally after years of determination by the early users, this year it has been finally paid off.  When it comes to buy bitcoin, it has a lot of factors that need to be analyzed carefully, if the price is going to go down anytime soon, why buy, wait for some more time rather and then buy some of bitcoin.
890  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: India and Russia ban Bitcoin on: November 28, 2017, 06:01:21 PM
Anything is not yet confirmed, for Vladimir Putin's statements are contradicting each other, as one day he is in favor of bitcoin and the other day he is in favor of Russian currency and how he wants Russian crypto to destroy bitcoin.
Talking about India ,well the government doesn't have much problem with bitcoin, they are just not happy with the fraudulent activities that some people in India are trying to do by fooling them. So they are taking necessary actions against it.

892  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Which coins that are now $1-10 are likely to ever hit $100? on: November 20, 2017, 07:53:22 PM
So, I'm looking for some very long term investment here, I see that there are a LOT of coins whose price is between $1-10, from all those coins, which do you guys think have the best chance to hit $100 I would say in about 1,5-2 years?
Waves,Cvc,Qtum,Lisk,Ark,Kmd,Pay ,Powr etc. These belong to the few altcoins which are cheap and few of the very best altcoins in the crypto markets. The only prominent and common problem that arises is when to sell the altcoin, and I got to be honest, have a few regrets by selling some of the very good altcoins at a much lesser profit than what I could have got. Don't make the same mistakes that I did, take appropriate measures before deciding to sell.
I do want XRP to be on the list real bad,but unfortunately the supply of XRP contradicts the price to go up. Cry
893  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Roger Ver declares Bitcoin Cash to be the “True Bitcoin” on: November 20, 2017, 05:46:51 PM
This year has been a tumultuous one, especially for Bitcoin. Different groups within Bitcoin’s original community have not been able to even remotely agree on which protocol should be implemented in order to solve Bitcoin’s scalability problem. One particular group felt strongly that bigger blocks were the solution to the problem and so hard forked away from the original Bitcoin blockchain to create Bitcoin Cash (BCH).

Read More here: https://cryptodaily.co.uk/2017/11/roger-ver-declares-bitcoin-cash-true-bitcoin/
These claims that people make, doesn't end up to be true every time. How many people do you think are going to listen to Roger here? Even though he belongs to a group of people who understood bitcoin's actual potential in the very beginning phase of bitcoin and didn't judge it in the first place.
Bitcoin cash is not a bad altcoin, but at the same time, it's not the very best(I am not talking about it in terms of price). Support from ant pool and recent events claim Chinese were involved in it's recent price pump;is not  enough for bitcoin cash to take over bitcoin. Maybe in the future bitcoin cash may give a tougher fight to bitcoin, but overtaking bitcoin's spotlight is not going to happen that easily. Remember the times when people claimed ethereum will take over bitcoin and some are still trying to?
894  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What are your thoughts on trading these pairs & cycles? on: November 15, 2017, 08:15:17 PM
http://thecryptolabs.com/index.php/2017/11/15/6-cryptocurrencies-can-see-250-gains-short-term/

They're DOGE, XCP, FTC, THC, DOPE, ERC, and EMC2

They seem to be following explosive cycles, Risk:Reward seems very favorable.

I was thinking of buying small amounts, setting sell orders around avg %^move of the peak.
All these currencies may not have such a great potential to be honest, doge might be an exception in that last though.  EMC should be pumped anytime soon, so you can invest in it more than your normal one, but you better be careful on the timing. THC, it was pumped because of the partnership with Wiz Khalifa, not sure on whether it's worth the investment now as it and already got pumped by whales. Other altcoins, I can't provide much info on it, as I choose altcoins based on my own research and other various factors.
895  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin hit $8k in December due to CME on: November 14, 2017, 07:58:49 PM
Any guesses as to whether BTC can make another run during the 2nd week of December when CME is slated to go 'live' with the futures trading?

Seems like they've firmed the date up:

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/not-going-to-let-it-go-to-zero-cme-chief-downplays-fears-ahead-of-december-bitcoin-futures-launch/

Hopefully BTC will start another nice run and get out of the doldrums created by Ver and his gang.
The possibilities are lesser right now because the crypto market is facing an upward trend for bitcoin cash and a few more altcoins whereas there is comparatively low demand for bitcoin. But you can't say every time on what can happen, maybe bitcoin will hit the 8k dollar mark and even hit 10,000$ before 2018. As you must have already seen or heard stock market people aren't much a fan of bitcoin and they wont let bitcoin to rise much under their supervision and there is a great contingency of bitcoin's potential to be dumped in a grave yard.

896  Economy / Economics / Re: Banks offering only 1.3% interest rates for Savings Account on: November 11, 2017, 08:52:27 PM
I went to my bank today to change money to foreign currency because I will be traveling abroad soon. I asked the lady what are the current annual interest rates if you decide to give your money to bank for certain period of time without being able to withdraw that money (Savings Account).
She said proudly that zhe interest rate is 1.3% which is the highest in the country. I was holding my laugh and smiled kindly to her and I said that even 1.3% is not enough for me.
What do you guys think? I think 1.3% per year is a joke. Money can lose that much value in one year so you didn't actually profit at all. What kind of interets rates do you get at your banks?
Hah. You're at least getting 1.3%,be happy I should say.  The banks in the country that I live in provides interest of 0.2% per annum, that sucks and unfortunately I don't have a choice but to have a bank account with that bank because of my company's dealing with the bank, to have their own employees salary account in the bank and in return, the bank will provide overdraft facility and a few more premium facilities. Which brings me to cryptos, where you can trade and invest that money and get way way more then the 0.2% interest. Hell, I can even get double the rate of my investment. So if you want to go for that 1.3%,you can go, but from my point of view you can make a better use of that money.
897  Economy / Economics / Re: What will happen if the government know bitcoin in your country? on: November 07, 2017, 09:39:51 PM
I think they will ban bitcoin because of the fearful that may affect of the economics of my country but i disagree there opinion because working bitcoin is very helpful for me especially the support financial.
No,it is nothing like that. Governments don't care about bitcoin ,all they care about is that their people shouldn't be scammed and people should pay appropriate tax on whatever they earn. If this is not taken care by people voluntarily in a country then the government will have to force a situation and make some new rules and regualtions just for the sake of their own people.
898  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrencies and its political nature. on: November 07, 2017, 09:16:08 PM
The  nature of cryptocurrencies is very political because no single government that can control them. Unlike all other forms of wealth that can be expropriated from the individual.
Bitcoin is not political in those means ,it is political in literal political nature that is unwanted lies being used to cover up and powerful people dominating the markets sometimes. For example, take Jamie Dimon asshole for how he used his political/top-class business influence and made people to some how panic sell their bitcoin so that he could buy it.
Also people are coming to understand  that cryptocurrencies is a better form of money because they are governed by code alone, which  makes the contract digital sacrosanct
People don't understand shit about bitcoin's code. There exists some people who dont want to use bitcoin and even though it is governed only by its code, its actually not, its governed and controlled by people, well at least the prices are.
899  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Bubbled Many Times on: November 07, 2017, 08:41:05 PM

Quote

Yes Bitcoin crashed multiple times this year, by more than 30% in January, July and September. But the currency came back stronger every single time. It is currently roaring at $7,000. You would think that more mainstream journalists would take a step back and wonder why this cryptocurrency keeps coming back stronger and stronger every time it is under attack.

But you’d be wrong--most mainstream journalists suffer from a serious case of confirmation bias. That means they dismiss any information or data that does not support what they already believe, namely, that Bitcoin is a bubble, end of discussion.

Read more here...

People who are doubting Bitcoin keep on talking about the big possibility that soon Bitcoin can be a big bubble that will popped right before our big and wide eyes. Not surprisingly, these people's predictions have not yet come true practically because they are basing their arguments on the past historical parallels that may not be totally applicable to Bitcoin. There are many corrections from time to time serving as the buffer for the bubble...and I know we all are aware of that.

Should we then be concerned about the bubble or the fact that we failed to buy Bitcoin when it was still cheaper?

Exactly bitcoin is very much different than the previous bubble assets that were there. Bitcoin is something which is volatile and that clearly it means that the price can shoot up or it can get eaten up by bears. All these price fluctuations is all based on actions by humans so whatever bubble it is will be affected one day or the other. What I mean is that the price will eventually fall and it shouldn't be increasing this much and again it will recover.
900  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What is the best alt coin for short term investment ? on: November 07, 2017, 08:10:29 PM
A lot of alt coins are dropping right now, what do you think is a good alt coin to invest ?
Asking for suggestions is not the right thing to do mate,if you're willing to be a trader.
Go and sign up for legit exchanges and then start doing your research,if you find it hard then also, you can see from other's experiences and figure it out.
Anyhow I'd suggest you a few coins:-CVC,XRP,SGNLS,THC etc for now. If you can trade quickly and invest at a proper time and sell it,then you'll get more than what you had expected.
