881  Economy / Goods / Re: Spectacular house for sale in bitcoins in Barcelona to fund social projects on: May 18, 2013, 09:21:34 PM

The house is all exterior, with windows on three of the
four sides of the house, which gives natural light from
the first to the last minute of the day, all year long.

How hot does it get in there?

A more pertinent question would be "How does anyone get in there?" since it only advertises having windows on all four sides and they are all apparently barred up.
882  Economy / Speculation / Re: $1,000,000 for a Bitcoin? on: May 18, 2013, 06:24:41 PM
honestly, I'm sick of threads like this.

what's the point of talking about something so ridiculous?

In my two years here, "circle jerking" is the best definition I can come up with.

bitcoin went from pennies to hundreds. I remember people saying that would never happen too.

I've never doubted Bitcoin would reach $100 nor that it started at pennies. I've doubted it would:

1) End all government control in the world
2) Cure cancer
3) Reach a million dollars per coin
4) Force everyone to become libertarians or anarchists

Wish I could have gone.  Next year, hopefully.  I just got crazy busy with work over the past few weeks.  Bleh.  Would have been nice to shake hands with Smoothie.

Perhaps next time troll meets troll.

That wouldn't be complete without renting a large version of these costumes first.
886  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Consolidating small amounts of Bitcoins into one larger amount on: May 18, 2013, 03:22:46 PM
I was wondering if there is any way to consolidate these multiple small amounts and turn them into one larger amount.

The hardest part is convincing someone to lend you a sizable amount. Then, consolidating your inputs without paying a fee is possible.

If that's all that were necessary, couldn't you just have the party with a sizable amount import your smaller wallet with multiple small inputs and sendmany the respective amounts to their 2 individual owners? Then the trust would be shifted to the party with the sizable amount of coins.
887  Economy / Speculation / Re: $1,000,000 for a Bitcoin? on: May 18, 2013, 03:02:09 PM
The sooner people stop attaching political ideologies and agendas to bitcoin, the sooner it can grow.
888  Economy / Services / Re: What business do you guys recommend? on: May 18, 2013, 02:35:47 PM
To be creative, you need to remove yourself from that which dilutes your creativity. These forums are a creativity hell. Go to another forum of artists and engineers (seperately) and look over their ideas and works and see if you can't think of something. Sometimes the ideas will just jump out at you while walking down the street. Sometimes those ideas are really muggers. Either way, you'll probably lose money in the end.
889  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bling Bling version of the Bitcoin logo on: May 18, 2013, 02:25:28 PM
I hate it too when people bump an old topic...but I just wanted to thank the author for this free PSD, which I'm now using as a logo for my site Top Bitcoin Sites.

In other words you bumped a 12 months dead old topic to post off-topic spam.
890  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: EFF to start taking BTC on: May 18, 2013, 02:23:37 PM
I have mixed emotions.  I love eff but I hate that they quit us last year.

Probably a kneejerk reaction to all the anarchist agenda spread around Bitcoin at the time. Despite what bitcoin cultists would have you believe, legitimization of Bitcoin helps it grow.

My first guess judging by the horrible presentation and bitcoin obsession is that it's someone from the bitcoin community involved in forex. Hmm. What two shady characters do we know who are heavily involved in forex....
892  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Pizza Day (Laslzo Pizza Day) May 22nd on: May 18, 2013, 11:25:38 AM
This is a legitimate big day.  Bitcoin's only real non-artificial holiday, aside from the date of the Genesis Block.

I am going to order pizza through pizzaforcoins.  I hope they're ready for the traffic.

And the publication of the protocol? (Nov. 1, 2008)

And the first transaction on the network? (Jan. 12, 2009)

Satoshi Nakamoto's last merciful contact with human beings? (Dec. 12, 2010)

Obviously less significant, but more tangible, this day is a day people can do something to participate and waste their money like Easter, Valentines Day and Christmas (or Peperro day if you're in Korea). A "Protocol birthday" would be like "President's Day" or "Columbus Day" in that no one really knows what to do.

894  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WTF - Kiddy Porn in the Blockchain for life? on: May 18, 2013, 08:24:06 AM
This is the kind of crap that makes me want to stop using BTC altogether in case I get arrested for unwittingly distributing offensive content under UK laws (I don't wish to get jailed for using BTC just because some idiot decided to post CP messages in the blockchain). The only thing I like about BTC is the easy way of sending money to and from other people (using only an address rather than typing in IBANS,card details, giving my address, etc with normal banks)

If this is true (and not just a rumour) then I'll have to stop using BTC in UK which is a shame.

I have questions about this:
Does the code actually load the offensive sites?
If this code can load these sites, how could the developers fail to see this happening and apply appropriate measures to remedy this issue?
How is it possible to post messages in the blockchain as I'm rather confused as to how this can work?

From what i've heard, all they put in the blockchain were URLs; and i'm not even sure if they are in plaintext.

The fact that it's URLs means that I can get arrested for unwittingly distributing or relaying CP content simply because of what some person thought was funny to put in there.Whether it's plain text or not,it'll still be enough to get me in trouble if I continue to use BTC simply because of the CP message in the blockchain.

Thanks for clearing that up.I think it's time to finish earning BTC (by working or selling things off),then cashout for good and delete all my BTC clients/accounts to stay out of trouble then.
I'm not a lawyer, but the URLs themselves are just directions, they aren't the actual child abuse images. Though i guess some countries are really fucked up and might make even directions to where criminals can be found be a crime...

Btw, if you're leaving Bitcoin, please send me your coins before you delete your wallet.
Yeah send them here too.

Thank you for using the term child abuse images. Associating media containing evidence of inhumane violence.and rape can't be fairly called pornography by a level headed person.
Seems this is successfully alerting people to specific evidence. Being able to expose human trafficking and child abuse without implicating yourself is probably not very easy.
One might idly wonder about whether the content we're all blindly ranting about is actually objectionable or blown out of proportion.

It's probably the literal string "Child porn".
895  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin conference coverage by Smoothie on: May 18, 2013, 08:19:44 AM
One other thing that I forgot to mention is there appears to be a slew of non "bitcoiner" type people at this conference.

For example: as I was passing one of the booths a guy pulled out a gold foil covered chocolate bitcoin and proceeded to indicate that that was a bitcoin. And I responded politely no that's just chocolate covered in gold foil shaped liked a physical bitcoin.

We have new people. Very healthy thing for bitcoin.

They were giving these out at another booth. I took one.

It's true. There are a ton of new people. More importantly there are actually women now- indeed many booths have bitcoin companies with diverse team members and many conference attendee's are also women. Very good sign things are in a good direction.

Now if only the men there would stop insisting that there need to be prostitutes, strippers and show girls in order to be "complete", this conference might not be a total flop.

Well technically I only heard 1 man do this.

Yea I know, but having worked with a lot of the guys running booths there for 2 years now, I'm actually surprised there wasn't already a "Bitcoin beauty pageant" in the lineup.
896  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitcoins on forex minute now on: May 18, 2013, 08:08:56 AM
If you search google, you get astroturfed and "planted" pages by ForexMinute that mask their advertisement as "user reviews" (similar to ad sense google marketing scammers). This alone tells you they're dishonest and shady, as for being an outright scam, who knows. I'm not gonna try it and find out.

Consequences will never be the same!
