881  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: February 24, 2016, 05:36:03 PM
why is there no money in home miners ?. convince me you can't :)there is, it all depends how greedie you are i guess is what it comes down to.

More than 75% of the network are big farm mining pools (Antpool, F2Pool, BTCC Pool, BW.com and Bitfury).  Most of the remaining ~25% is small to medium sized pools, home miners don't even tip the scales any more.  The market is mostly large farms, so that's why "there's no money in home miners" any more.
882  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Feb 19 to Mar 3? picks are open.... prize = 0.2 btc on: February 24, 2016, 05:32:46 PM
Price going up and difficulty going down, this is more like it!  Unfortunately it would take several negative adjustments to really make a dent, but at least we're going the right direction so far.  The northern hemisphere is only a couple weeks away from the start of spring, so mines may start scaling back as things heat up.  Of course, they might ignore the heat and push everything they've got until the halving, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.
883  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: February 24, 2016, 05:30:01 PM
is a real U3 antminer or a fake one?

Looks like someone is trying to sell "cloud mining" via a U3 that they host somewhere else?  Looks sketchy as hell to me.  U3 hash isn't worth anything unless you have one for fun, and even then they are not much fun because they always have problems and you basically have to buy an R1 an install custom firmware to get them to work reliably.

That way I already know they've passed all inspections, and it's just dependent on me creating a new step that can add the earlier data correctly - so dust payouts are combined, and dust only not sent if the combination is below 10k satoshi.

Yeah I really don't want a pool bank for everyone, and I think this change would fit in well, and reduce the number of transactions and the payout division caused by our average expected more than one block a day.

Any comments?
I think the once per day payout it a good balance between payment frequency and having to pay tx fees for sending out the payments.  I like your outline, it sounds like it only adds one more step to what you are currently doing, but that one step could end up saving you coin in the long run on the tx fees that you save.  So a bit more work but you are compensated for it.

Also, if this change would handle sweeping up dust payments and sending those out it would be cool for all the people who have asked about how to get their dust, and it would keep the pool from having to store that coin.
885  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Feb 19 to Mar 3? picks are open.... prize = 0.2 btc on: February 24, 2016, 12:00:13 AM
Your pick may actually have a chance this adjustment period, Phil!  I would have never though that a couple weeks ago.

I think almost everyone is going to wait until the end to guess on this one...

How can i know that i am acceptet or not.  I applied since 3week latet.  But no payme

If you are on the spreadsheet you are accepted.  Looking at your post history I doubt you were accepted, nor would any of your posts even likely qualify as "constructive".

Congrats on the solo solve, been a while since I've seen one.  And that's a perfect solo mining worker name, glad the rentals came through for you.  And chalk another one up to the DE server.  Cool
888  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core version 0.12.0 released on: February 23, 2016, 11:47:32 PM
Wallet: Pruning
---------------

With 0.12 it is possible to use wallet functionality in pruned mode.
This can reduce the disk usage from currently around 60 GB to
around 2 GB.

However, rescans as well as the RPCs `importwallet`, `importaddress`,
`importprivkey` are disabled.

To enable block pruning set `prune=<N>` on the command line or in
`bitcoin.conf`, where `N` is the number of MiB to allot for
raw block & undo data.

A value of 0 disables pruning. The minimal value above 0 is 550. Your
wallet is as secure with high values as it is with low ones. Higher
values merely ensure that your node will not shut down upon blockchain
reorganizations of more than 2 days - which are unlikely to happen in
practice. In future releases, a higher value may also help the network
as a whole: stored blocks could be served to other nodes.

For further information about pruning, you may also consult the [release
notes of v0.11.0](https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/blob/v0.11.0/doc/release-notes.md#block-file-pruning).

I think this might be the most anticipated change among general users of core (some of these changes are too technical for my, and I'm a fairly tech-savy person).  I'll probably try a pruned wallet on one node just to see how it feels vs. my full node.
889  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core version 0.11.2 released on: February 22, 2016, 10:36:54 PM
I'm actually waiting for a lite option on the software installer, that connect to other peers to get the info and just keep the latest x blocks. That would be great, i don't care about privacy or sybil attacks because no-one is sending me coins, just myself.
Pruned mode is available, and I think that will do what you are looking for.  Otherwise you'll have to look at other "lightweight" wallets, because core really needs the full blockchain and peer connections to function at its full potential and to work as a full node (which is why most people run it, at least why I do).
890  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Feb 19 to Mar 3? picks are closed setup time.. prize = 0.2 btc on: February 22, 2016, 10:34:37 PM
Is it just me, or does anybody else think that it MIGHT be a tiny negative adjustment? The bitcoinwisdom trend lines all suggest that could happen, although with nearly 11 days to go, almost anything is possible still.

The change is just stunning from a week ago.

I suspect it's the eye of the storm, but with the price rising and the difficulty falling let's enjoy it while it lasts. But yes Today is going to be another quiet one with around -12% on the Day and the run rate for the period at least -6%. However as you say 11 days to go, but nice to see a downward slope for a change. Picks open in about 24Hrs time so a new prediction challenge awaits.  Smiley

Rich

Unfortunately after the record setting diff growth over the winter this far even a modest negative adjustment doesn't really excite me.  Now string together 6 or 8 -10% adjustments and we've got something to talk about!  Not that I'll turn down a negative adjustment, it's just that any diff over ~100G is pretty daunting to us small miners.
891  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: GekkoScience Compac Overclock Contest on: February 22, 2016, 09:37:17 PM
I wouldn't be too impressed by any speed that only ran for 10 minutes.  I think in order to the speed to mean anything it has to be demonstrated that it can be maintained for more than a trivial amount of time - say 4 hours running at least.  I would think 24 hours would be an ideal test range, but if you're going to do a quick one then I would suggest several hours as a minimum to illustrate that the stick can hash at that rate/setup.
892  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: February 22, 2016, 06:38:31 PM
Wasn't there going to be a no-holds-barred over clock contest?  The first OC contest was fun, I'd participate in one of those again.  I don't have the know-how to compete in an "ultimate" OC contest, but I'd like to see what other people can do!
893  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [40+ PH] SlushPool (slushpool.com); World's First Mining Pool on: February 22, 2016, 06:36:03 PM
You guys that defend slush and his pool are baffling. If ANY other pool had attacks on them where hundreds or thousands of btc were withheld, stolen, hidden, whatever the case may be; that site would be a ghost town in no time with no one mining on it. The fact that there was a hijacking of this pool, and you all still mine here is insanity. He used to brag about having higher than bank level security, and you really believe someone could have programmed their single solitary miner to withhold blocks from a pool with this level of security?
Despite all the back and forth, this is the post that sums it up the best.  I'll never understand why a lot of people mine where they do.  Why anyone would continue to mine at slush baffles me.  The fanboi flag waving is mildly entertaining, but besides that I see nothing positive here.  When it looks like crap, smells like crap, and feels like crap I have a good feeling what it is...
894  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining project with S7 and solar panels on: February 22, 2016, 06:22:41 PM
i think it will be profitable because you don't need to pay for monthly electricity bill because of solar panel..
Where do you think the solar panels come from, the solar panel fairy drops them off under you pillow for free one night?

Solar power has a HUGE initial cost and you have to amortize that cost over your expected life use of the system.  You have to ROI the solar array and your miner hardwares.

start right now before halving ends because it will more profitable if you sell your bitcoin you already mined after halving..
That's speculation, no one knows what will happen at the halving.  Who knows, price could just as easily to the other way and everything be worth less.
895  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Feb 19 to Mar 3? picks are closed setup time.. prize = 0.2 btc on: February 22, 2016, 06:15:09 PM
Whatever is going on it sure is weird, I wish there was a way to definitively know instead of having to guess.  Price is strong right now, over $437 as I type, and difficulty is leveling off for this period anyway.  I would really like to see it stay level for the next few months, I'm hoping the big hardware push is done.  There's a point where there won't be enough time left to the halving for even the $0.01 kw-h power people can't ROI new gear, so it should settle down at some point.
896  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 1% fee solo mining USA/DE servers 157 blocks solved! on: February 22, 2016, 06:09:31 PM
With 11T running for about a week highest has been on 400M!!  Slow going!!

I've been consistently hitting 1.5B shares bi-weekly lately with 25T. 100+ days of going solo with that hashrate btw, no dice yet.

I got lucky last Dec with 50T (rented).  With warm weather coming soon it may be time to shut it down...

My S3+ that I've been solo mining with for almost a year had a 44G share a couple weeks ago, that's the best I've managed (it usually solves shares in the ###M range).  It's warmed up here unseasonably and I shut it down for a while, but I've got it set up now to exhaust out my dryer vent so I'm back to scratching solo lottery tickets and hoping...
897  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [25 PH] ** 5x AVALON6 GIVEAWAY ** Kano CKPool (kano.is) [0.9% PPLNS] US,DE,SG,JP on: February 22, 2016, 05:06:14 PM
There is something fundamentally wrong with BTC if you have keep slipping more and more under the table to get confirmations...

There's nothing "fundamentally wrong" here, in fact just the opposite.  This is fundamentally how bitcoin works.  You're not paying anyone under the table, you're paying right up front in you tx fee, says so right there when you put a transaction together.  Bitcoin has been designed since the beginning to confirm transactions with higher fees faster because it is in the miners' best interest to confirm high fee tx first and capture those fees.

When Kano switches to one payout per day that should help him save some tx fees only having to send out one a day instead of multiple.  Will also make payouts easier to track, I look forward to the change soon!
898  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: February 20, 2016, 09:13:37 AM
pls no.  pls.   So in 2 months what will be the resell value of an s7 ?
I hope they get dirt cheap (sorry S7 owners).  I bought my S1 for $20, I don't use it right now because of my exuberant electricity rate but I know they're not generally that cheap any more.  My S3+ was also had for a steal comparatively.  Personally I hope the S7 bottoms out as well so I can pick one up to add to my toy box.

That's the one I wrote about, I did not know that it was working for cksolo finally.  Good to hear, thanks!
900  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining project with S7 and solar panels on: February 19, 2016, 11:20:58 PM
Electricity price is currently about 0,15USD in Turkey which is not too bad i guess. Althoug i think you get up to %9 discount if you make an agreement with the company with promise of using more then a certian amount.

Wow, that's a nice deal to get a discount.  Here is the US, at least in my state, it is the exact opposite: the more electricity you use each month the higher the per KW-h price is.  Mine maxes out over $0.33/KW-h at tier 5, and it's easy to get to tier 5 usage in a normal family home without any mining equipment...
