881  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bottlecaps 2.1 UPDATE REQUIRED - HARDFORK JULY 4 2014 to 200% Annual PoS on: July 05, 2014, 12:22:19 PM
Getting mismatched coin errors now, already spent, that kind of stuff. Repairwallet brings em back, but is there any way to know how many of the coins in the wallet are actually spendable now?

I would first try to restart client with -rescan.

A more aggressive approach is to use -salvagewallet. Salvage Wallet will also remove your addresses. So be sure to export them if you need them.

There is a another rpc command -zapwallettxs but that is not in your version of CAP. If neither of the above approaches work, let me know.
Ok, so after trying to send out some coins, I got the mismatched / spent error again. Tried salvagewallet, now it can't initialize the keypool and crashes.

Do you have a backup? I have one more thing to try.

Create a new dir c:\cap_test put the good wallet.dat there.
Start the client with these switches.

-datadir=c:\cap_test and -listen=0 (only if you are still running the other version)

Let that one re download the block chain and see if that works.  If not, please send me a PM.

we need an exchange. my coins are sitting in cryptsy languishing...
https://www.allcoin.com/vote/#CAP
Bottlecaps is #6, keep voting! Once CAP will be adopted, let's all vote for HBN.

I was running 2.0 ntil today (did not notice the update). I am presently syncing 2.1 from start (deleted the blockchain). Before that, I had my wallet open mostly 24/7. I never receive any single stack. ( Was not necessary to delete block chain, just start up 2.1)
=> is the fact that I was on 2.0 (not 2.1) AFTER July 4th detrimental? (NO)
=> is it normal that I did not mint a single CAP ever (I have several thousand CAP)? (it depends on when you got them, and 2.0 had 1 issue with stake. 2.1 will fix you up. )
=> did is lose stacking time? Did I left my wallet open 24/7 for nothing? (You lost nothing, your coins will stake and you will get higher reward for waiting longer then 15 days.)
=> when can I expect next staking? 10 days from now or earlier? (Again depends on when you downloaded the coins. My guess is as soon as you are caught up you will stake)

Thank you.

Also, what is the maximum amount of coin I should have per address to maximise reward? On NOBL, it will be 100k, how many is it on CAP? (Cap is 1,000 max. 10k blocks are a good set to start out with. Let them split and stake for a while.)

See above

We've just hit a mile stone,

1 million HBN blocks have been solved and just over 5.125 million HBN generated.  I think inflation has been well controlled this far.

For those who just start following, there is a 5 HBN reward for block solving, if this was purely PoW, we would have 5 Millions HBN in the network, 125 thousand more is not that bad (about 2,5% more)

This is cool Smiley

I'm sad. I missed it.    Undecided  It's like the first time hitting 100k on your car..

I love seeing weight in coin control. This is my first POS coin and all others after haven't had that ability.

I would like to see all of the stats that show up when you hover over the green icon always be shown on the front stats area. Plenty of room

What do you mean "font stats area"? Do you mean when you click the green icon?

886  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Proof of Stake Investment - HBN/PHS/TEK/CAP and more on: July 05, 2014, 03:03:01 AM
I have been using using multi wallets and stakeforcharity(s4c) for quite a while now. It has been working very nicely.

To test stakeforcharity you can just create a new wallet and send a percentage of your stake to that wallet and see how it acts. You can accumulate some coins there and then send them off to trade, or buy stuff.  You can INCREASE 2 positions at once automatically with even a small amount, since s4c only allows 50% of your reward to be sent.  Shocked

You can also use coin control to choose which blocks to send.
887  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bottlecaps 2.1 UPDATE REQUIRED - HARDFORK JULY 4 2014 to 200% Annual PoS on: July 05, 2014, 01:02:32 AM
Might have an issue over here.
One wallet with 4 blocks of 10k doesn't want to stake.

All day with no stake - 10+ hours. I know I'm unlucky sometimes but ..
Also note my weight is bigger than the network. I've seen this on HBN once or twice with big blocks staking

All four blocks should be over the 1k limit for stake by a fair margin as I was planning on moving funds but didn't this month.

When the earlier problems hit I switched machines and re-downloaded the chain, swapped out wallet on that and still no dice.....
but machines both agree with current block on http://cap.cryptocoinexplorer.com/

Please make sure you are using 2.1 Version 2.0 had an issue with large stakes.

@Tranz: Anything new in store for HoboNickels?

We should have an Active  HBN irc channel with tip bots. lets get going guys.

Actually the fork for CAPs just completed, and so far so good. (Knock Knock). So here soon I will continue further development for HBN version 1.5.

I have a few things planned, but I would love to hear from the community on what you guys would like to see..

An original idea added to the wallet graphics might work wonders.

Anything specific you had in mind or just a fresh gui?

Wow network stake weight is huge right now!

hmm, i thought coin age was reset with the fork . i dont have any mature coins

It was changed to 15 days start. Nothing was reset.

Wow network stake weight is huge right now!

Over 1 million coins have recently been up for stake. Pretty cool. About 1/4 of the total supply.

That damn checkpoint server.

Yea... Its both a powerful tool and a terrible crutch.

On a side note, the network did respond pretty well to this. But as soon as I hear from flound I will be sure this won't happen again.

Until then, please be mindful of transactions. Especially ones involving newly minted blocks. (less then 500 confirmations)

Damn, was it too good to be true? I hope you fix it . Caps deserves this

The network and functions are working fine, this was an issue with the the checkpoint server.

We'll get this sorted quickly I have messages out to flound.
893  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bottlecaps 2.1 UPDATE REQUIRED - HARDFORK JULY 4 2014 to 200% Annual PoS on: July 04, 2014, 02:02:57 PM
Hey guys I think there maybe a problem. Not sure what yet, but I just rolled back many blocks. Not sure what is going on quite yet. I did notice the checkpoints are not running. :-(. I am going to message flound and see if we can get thos back up and runnning.

Please be careful of deposits for the time being..

Everything was fine, noticed the greater POS rate after 3am est., but now resynced several hundred blocks and all my POS blocks minted in the last 6 hours are invalid.  It looks like POS has started up again though.

I think I found the issue.

We were flying great. And then the CP server issued a checkpoint on an invalid or otherwise not accepted block,  over 500 blocks after it happened.  This caused a huge roll back.

Not sure why this happened, but it couldn't have been worse timing. I don't run the CP server (perhaps this should change). We were actually doing pretty well without it.

Anyway a few things.
#1 until I make sure we are back to smooth running either with or without the CP server, please watch your sends and receives.
#2 You may want to check your debug log file. It could be riddled with Error messages regarding mem pool. A quick restart of the wallet should fix this.

Solo mining HBN not working
got shares accepted but this is what i get:

http://imgur.com/ac3meKR

any idea?

Sad

There are no shares in solo mining. Either you solve a block or not.  You should not set the difficulty yourself. Allow the wallet to feed the miners. Also be sure the wallet is unlocked.

Is the windows wallet out yet?

Windows, Mac(thanks to Unick), and source code can be found here:

What does the "check wallet" function do?

Looks for mismatches from the index and the wallet. It also looks for orphaned PoS/Pow blocks. It only reports what it finds.  Repair wallet will fix any issues it finds.

Looks like all is going well!

Seems like all sections forked correctly.  So far I don't see any invalid forks out there (other then the old one).

As noted the stake diff has now doubled and the yearly reward has dropped to 178%. I do think this will be temporary, at least for now.

The only thing missing is fireworks...

Happy 4th everyone! Even you brits  Tongue

mac wallet perchance? now i'm investing in this, i'd like to have my coins on my main pooter  Grin

Yes I was going to ask Unick to make one, just as soon as the fork is complete. So just in case there are some code changes, I won't have to bug him twice.

fabulous, thanks!

I already have a working build from the latest commits.  I must warn you, I never found why the build sometimes failed on some Macs... So it might work or not for you. but you can have a try Smiley

http://cap.blockx.info/bottlecaps-2.1.0.0-macosx.dmg

only 8 hours left before the fork !!!

Ahh I am excited!! Probably going to be a large network stake weight right at the fork.
My guess is we will see the PoW diff go through the roof for a little while. The PoS diff will most likely double..

About 4 hours.......
