901  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTB] Casascius coins with PGP chains of custody on: March 14, 2015, 07:56:19 PM
I've said this before, and will say it again. I don't believe that PGP docs are really a significant thing to consider. There's nothing wrong with them of course, put I dont believe that coins with them should be worth more. I dont believe there is anything suspicious about coins without PGP docs, and I dont really see the value in proving that the seller is the 'legitimate owner' of them, as transactions with escrow are pretty safe.

Do you mean that most coins without PGP docs are counterfeit/fake or compromised?

For the record, there is and has never been such a thing as a fake or compromised Casascius*.

*outside of a hackathon and a picture of stickers from an unkown source. the stickers were very badly done, and the 'hack' is in my view nothing to worry about.

903  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Formal naming convention for physical crypto coins on: March 13, 2015, 05:02:56 AM
Are these for all physicals including alts or just for the physical bitcoins and Litecoins?
Are failed projects and scams also included? Aka Coinographic.

My intentions are to include all coins of which a physical production has been produced. I believe that they are all relevant as collectors items. I am also fully intending to include coins which are not 'wallets', but simply crypto themed, though the list of them is getting huge.

My original intention was to release this in January, but it is pushed back. I fully intend that it will be out by the end of May, mid June at the latest (pinky swear).

905  Economy / Collectibles / Re: How much is worth a casascius bearer bar (0 BTC) on: March 06, 2015, 03:56:11 AM
I've got one of these bars without the hologram if anyone wants one just to add to their collection.

Do you know of any with the hologram?

well.. this one here (if you dont mind 'tying up' 3.5 btc, though that would be a great way to keep yourself from losing/spending/gambling them away)
906  Economy / Collectibles / Re: How much is worth a casascius bearer bar (0 BTC) on: March 05, 2015, 05:59:28 PM
I'll pay you BTC3.5.

A good offer right there!

1.7
908  Economy / Collectibles / Re: How much is worth a casascius bearer bar (0 BTC) on: March 05, 2015, 03:10:49 AM
In mint condition they fetch 1-2BTC (still wrapped). I would guess even banged up maybe 1BTC? + whatever Bitcoin it has loaded.

Obviously more considering it is funded with 3.5btc. I would say that you would get between 4 and 4.5 btc for it, assuming hologram is intact. So yes a 1btc valuation (in addition to btc stored in it) would be fair.

Also, check out my ebook about Casascius coins & bars at www.coinfirm.org

910  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: GoldBits - Newbie scammer on: March 04, 2015, 07:57:17 PM
So, I bought btc back with the money that I got for the coin.

Since btc price went up so much in past few days, in total I got about 4.1BTC for the $1450cad that I got for the coin, for which i paid 4BTC.

So, for ALL of this; 0.1BTC profit.

sigh...

Why would you go through all this just to buy back coins with the money especially at such low mark up? Why not wait or just hiold the coins? Doesn't make sense to me. Cannot understand why you even sent money to this person in the first place.

back then, my profit would have bee about 1btc, so 20%.
Still not a good bet, but with the price increase its just sad.

914  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: GoldBits - Newbie scammer on: March 02, 2015, 05:46:43 AM
At this point I really dont know what to think of GoldBits. Im not gonna go say hes a scammer outright, as I got a legit coin, but it looks like he hasn't been on for several days now. As for tins, I regret my lack of proof.

917  Economy / Auctions / Re: 2011 Casascius 1 BTC Series-1 ERROR HOLO on: March 01, 2015, 03:23:40 PM
Just curious, lets say the the coin was graded at MS-65. How much would you guys be willing to pay for the coin?

I prefer buying them ungraded.
Just a question, when the coin is in the anacs case, the case is sealed right?

Yep.

Thanks, I thought so. I like to be able to take the coin out of it's case.

That is not good for a brass coin unfortunately. It will get more oxidized the more that happens.

Yeah I understand, I am keeping them in the cases. Are air-tites the best coinholders? I put them in Lindner for now.

airtites are by far best in my opinion
