901  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitcoinStore.com (Beta) - Electronics super store with over 500K items! on: November 07, 2012, 04:17:46 PM
BitcoinStore.com is the world's first, Bitcoin only, super store.

Unfortunately it is not.

There was a Bitcoin superstore before, bitcoinz.ca, run by a fucker named awozny here on the forum, who delivered the first test-orders and ran off with our money when he got proper orders prepaid.

His real name is Anthony Wozny from Canada, has anyone ever heard from him again or could let me know where I could find him so I could physically let him experience what I think about scum like him?

Sorry, didn't mean to interrupt your thread but CNR Smiley.

I am happy that you made this store and am looking forward to buying from you! Smiley

Joe

bitcoinz.ca doesn't sound like a very super store to me.

We are going to be offline in about 20 minutes for about 20-30 minutes. When we come back up I'm going to set the high hand prizes to double for a while.

Haha, and I thought my companies internet blocked the ports...

I'm curious if there are plans to develop an app for this site?  So that I can play from my phone? Smiley

If you're looking for someone to develop it, I have several friends looking for a resume building app project.  Let me know if you want any help developing that.

It's not a priority and it is tricky with our current setup, but if you are serious and want to talk more email admin@sealswithclubs.eu

And.. we're BACK. the 10am tourney will be started at 10:30am and high hand prizes are doubled for the next hour.

I'll check with my friend and get back to you in the next week or two.

Are you saying the freeroll 10AM tourny is starting at 10:30?

No, the 50 chip freeroll will just resume at 11am, the "10am 2000 guarantee" was started at 10:30am.
903  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Happy halving day on: November 07, 2012, 03:31:20 PM
For me, it's not a celebration unless the Bitcoin price goes up when the block reward drops. My guess is it will go up for a bit and then back down as people that have invested start selling.

Why people would start selling after the block reward drops? Does bitcoin will be less reliable? NO.
IMO people will just buy like crazy.

Well, in a sense... less resources will be given to secure the chain.

905  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: FastCash4Bitcoins Support Thread (Update: Checks & MoneyPaks enabled) on: November 07, 2012, 02:58:11 PM
I get nothing at https://fastcash4bitcoins.com/learn.aspx https://fastcash4bitcoins.com/payment.aspx and https://fastcash4bitcoins.com/about.aspx

I'm thinking about recommend fastcash to people, where can I see total fees? Or is that all worked into the price showing already?

Sorry.  Those pages should be up soon.   The site wasn't completely ready but so many people asked for it to up as soon as possible that I launched it early.   The price includes our fee however for some payment options there is an additional fee charged by the processor.  It can be seen on the sales order page.

Summary:
Company Check - no fee (w/ first class mail, other mailing options additional)
Cashier's Check - $14 (w/ first class mail, other mailing options additional)
ACH - no fee (3-5 business day delivery)
Overnight ACH - $10 (1 business day delivery)
Bank Wire - $25 (same day delivery - US/domestic banks only)
PayPal - 1% of sale total
Dwolla - no fee
Silver - no fee other than shipping

If someone is new to Bitcoin it may be better for them to wait a few days until the site is complete and polished.

Thanks for the info, I'll wait a bit.

So... probably not reasonable for me to fly in, but damn I would love to.
908  Economy / Gambling / Re: SealsWithClubs.eu - Block 210000 Party REBUY! on: November 07, 2012, 02:42:28 AM
We will likely have some brief (~20 minutes) downtime Wednesday morning. If so it will be announced in advance.

The chip transfer feature in the software has been disabled, you can now make transfers to other players on the webpage right below where you cash out.

Anyone else love this?

You can see how it works without downloading anything here:

http://www.julianpulgarin.com/canvaslife/

and the source is open.

I'm thinking of how I can adapt it to an interactive bitcoin skill game.

I have joined the fold! Which is probably what I will be doing most, Any noob tables for me to start of on?

Welcome. There is the hourly freeroll and the half hour 0.4BTC guarantee if you play tournaments. The smallest ring games are 1/2 NLHE and 1/2 PLO. They run almost all the time now.

The weekly 10BTC guarantee rebuy tournament is tonight.

912  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Laws as walls analogy on: November 06, 2012, 06:24:55 PM
If you keep in mind that laws are threats (and occasionally they aren't empty threats) to hurt, kill and destroy lives it will never be surprising when they make bad stuff happen.
913  Economy / Speculation / Re: my intuition says: we're sitting on a rocket about to be ignited on: November 06, 2012, 07:22:33 AM
One 'killer use' might be Greek and Argentinian citizens smuggling money out of the country after a currency devaluation.  This requires them to buy bitcoins before the collapse however, which no one really knows the date of.  Value of bitcoin goes up.  Greeks buying ASICs and mining doesn't help the value of bitcoin, as they would look to sell ASAP to pay for the hardware purchases.

A negative side effect of this however would be Europe and possibly its allies (USA, etc) putting pressure on bitcoin exchanges to not take 'illegal' funds from nations where currency controls are present.  MtGox et al are near useless without integration into the global banking system (how else does one transfer money to MtGox?).  Does MtGox being in Japan make it more immune to outside influence?  No, as the USA just needs to remind Japan who it is that provides security guarantees for the nation.

I need to get rid of my crumbling fiat! I know, I'll buy ASICs (which don't seem to exist yet) and sell the coins I mine to get my fiat back!

Profiteer rule #1: You need money to make money.

The less you have the harder it is to make X, but...

The more you have the harder it is to make X% more than what you've got.
915  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The best way to Hoard coins on: November 06, 2012, 02:00:56 AM
Quote

Once one guy "dumps" his coin stash into the market, People will go "OH NO ITS CRASHING, I HAVE TO SELL MY STASH TOO!"

And Boom, There goes the bitcoin value. But theres a big differance between Hoarding and Saving

They won't panic dump their stash if they are good at hoarding/saving. And what is the big difference?

If the only value of coins is the continual upward demand from hoarding, and there is a perception that the value is dissapating, then a panic is a sure thing. Only a healthy market prevents that.

Strong hoarders prevent it too, or do you consider people who sell all their coins to still be hoarders somehow?
916  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BitVPS not very trustworthy on: November 06, 2012, 01:59:52 AM
I've been using bitvps for about 6 months, no trouble. Recently I made a suggestion and was acknowledged the same day.

The title of this thread is wrong, OP or a moderator should fix it.

With the halving only 6 weeks or so away, I quite surprise the price hasn't started to go up.
Guess no-one cares.

More like T-3weeks!
919  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: btcaddr.me - Bitcoin Address Identicon on: November 05, 2012, 07:59:16 PM

The robohash robot is great. Optionally print out an image of the robot next to the identicon?

Users could check that the identicon maps to the robot and robots are easier to remember than patterns.

The robots would be good branding for bitcoin. It looks like robohash is open source.

Well it does seem that mskwik did just prove robohash to be useless for our purposes.

Not completely, it would be extra hard to find a robot collision AND collide the first few chars.
