921  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin transaction pending for 5+ days on: September 15, 2023, 09:34:48 PM
Thank you, so if someone broadcast the transactions, this could be pending forever?
The transaction will remain unconfirmed and nodes will have it in their mempool until the network becomes less congested, so that its fee rate is enough and it gets confirmed.

It's also possible that nodes drop the transaction due to their mempool reaching its maximum size.
If a node reaches its maximum size, it would remove transactions with low fee rate, so there's room for transactions with higher fee rates. The default mempool size is 300 MB.

The other possibility is that the sender makes a new transaction with the same input(s) and invalidates the unconfirmed transaction.
922  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin transaction pending for 5+ days on: September 15, 2023, 08:38:17 PM
I think the transactions have been rebroadcasted several times and that have caused many nodes to still have them in their mempool.

Blockchair.com received one of the transactions on September 4 and the other one on September 6.
Trezor explorer received the transactions 3 days ago. Viawallet explorer received them 2 days ago and bitcoinblockexplorers received them just a few hours ago.
923  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Mempool block 807829 took only 1sat/vbyte on: September 15, 2023, 06:05:49 PM
Just a guess:
Maybe, they were consolidating their outputs and they included their own transaction.

Well viabtc is one of those miners that do things a little different, they allow to some TX to be included in their mined block if they have some minimum fee of 10 Sat/vB
If you are referring to their free accelerator service, the minimum fee rate to be eligible for using their free service is 10 sat/byte, not 10 sat/vbyte.
The other requirements are that the transaction size must be less than or equal to 500 bytes and there isn't any unconfirmed parents.
924  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Mempool block 807829 took only 1sat/vbyte on: September 15, 2023, 03:49:25 PM
Miners are free to include any valid transactions they want.
They usually prioritize transactions based on their fee rate to maximize their profit, but there's nothing prevent them from including transactions with lower fee rates.

Take note that miners can even include transactions not paying any fee.
A miner (or a mining pool) may include a transaction with lower fee if that's their own transaction or they have been paid for that.
925  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: New scam attempt by newbie on: September 14, 2023, 09:55:51 PM
I just noticed that the airdrop free thread has disappeared. I don't know if he deleted it or for some reason he has been banned. It should be the former because scams are not moderated. I guess it was when he saw the tags and this thread.
Since the topic deletion has been recorded in the modlog, it has been deleted by moderators, not the user.

The user has not been banned.
Of course, as temporary bans are not recorded in the modlog, it's possible that the user has been banned temporarily.
926  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: New scam attempt by newbie on: September 13, 2023, 04:01:30 PM
Why didn't you start it yourself?
That may be because OP isn't a DT member and thinks that his/her feedback won't be noticed.

To OP:
If you believe that someone should given a negative trust, leave a negative feedback. Your feedback will be shown as an untrusted feedback, but that's better than nothing and who knows? Some users may add you to their trust list in the future and you may be a DT member one day.

You can read the guide provided by LoyceV on how to use the trust system correctly.

927  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin transaction pending for 5+ days on: September 13, 2023, 02:10:29 PM
Transaction is still pending after 14 days.
One of the transactions was broadcasted 14 days ago and the other one was broadcasted 13 days and 20 hours ago.

Some nodes have already dropped the transaction that was broadcasted 14 days ago from their mempool and they will drop the other transaction in the next hours.
Gradually, more and more nodes will drop your transactions from their mempool.

Take note that the 14 days is the default setting and nodes are free to change that. Therefore, it's possible that those transactions are shown by some block explorers for more days.
There will be probably some block explorers that will still show those transactions even after a month, unless a new transaction invalidates them.
928  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: SPAM TX with 79 recipients and 860 Sat to each blocking my funds on: September 13, 2023, 01:47:09 PM
l8orre, I just created a watch-only wallet with your address in electrum and tried several servers.
Some of them still had your transaction (and its parent) in their mempool and some of them had dropped your transaction from their mempool.

As mentioned by o_e_l_e_o above, you should be able to broadcast a new transaction using electrum.

If you imported your wallet and you saw your transaction, try different servers until you find a one that doesn't have your transaction in its mempool.
If your transaction status changed to local, right click on it and select "Remove".

In the case you connect to a server that doesn't have your transaction, you can broadcast your transaction even if the server's node hasn't enabled full RBF.

Due to security reasons, it's better to create a watch-only wallet with your address for finding a server which doesn't have your transaction in its mempool and broadcasting your transaction.
As suggested by o_e_l_e_o, import your private key and sign your transaction on an air-gapped device.
929  Other / Meta / Re: where we can see the forum time? on: September 13, 2023, 12:44:33 PM
Op, the forum time is located on the top right part of the forum. I checked other users too and confirmed that the local time is same for them all. I guess both the local time and forum time displays same thing.
No. Not all users have the same local time in their profile.
As already said by others above, you can change your time offset. If a user has done so, the local time displayed on his/her profile changes too.

See theymos profile.
The local time in theymos profile is 6 hours behind the default forum time.
930  Other / Meta / Re: Is there a way to know how many spendable merits are going to expire soon ? on: September 13, 2023, 08:19:02 AM
@OP account was from before the merit system was created, so he may got an airdrop sMerit. I don't know if he got those sMerits or if his rank was too low to get an airdrop sMerit,
According to BPIP, OP has earned 93 merits.
As OP has 103 merit in total, he has received 10 airdropped merit and was "member" when merit system was launched.

Here is the formula theymos used for determining airdropped merits.

The exact formula was:

Code:
yearActivity = activity in the last ~year, max 378
freeMerit = the merit (not sMerit) you started with
modifier =
  0.1 if member
  0.2 if full member
  0.25 if sr member
  0.35 if hero
  0.4 if legendary

return (yearActivity/378) * modifier * freeMerit

According to the formula, the maximum number of airdropped smerit a user with member rank could receive was 1.
OP started with 0 or 1 smerit.
931  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [Tutorial] BlueWallet - Bitcoin Wallet Discussion on: September 13, 2023, 07:29:22 AM
My BlueWallet fails to synchronise with the network.
The problem is probably from the server you have connected to.

Tap on the three dot button at top right corner of the window. Go to "Network" and then "Electrum Server". Enable "offline Mode" and then disable it.
With enabling and disabling "Offline mode", you will connect to a different electrum server and you will probably see your transactions and your correct balance.
932  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: BTC transaction unconfirmed after 92 confirmations on: September 10, 2023, 07:59:11 PM
Could it be the bitcoin didn't leave the wallet to mine?
What do block explorers say?
If you see a transaction from the address owned by your son to an address owned by you in block explorers, it means that the transaction has been made.

A solution for you is to export your private key(s) from Armory and import it into a SPV wallet like electrum.
In SPV wallets, you don't have to download the blockchain and you won't have such troubles.

Take note that if you use a SPV wallet and you don't want to download the blockchain, you have to connect to servers provides by third parties and that may harm your privacy.
933  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin transaction on: September 10, 2023, 05:31:03 AM
I have the receiving address but it is under cashapp as i never do btc transactions and the wallet was easy to receive on
Where did you send the fund from?
One of the receiving addresses is probably the change address and you have control over that, you can still do CPFP.

But looks unbelievable with your bitcoin transaction, have been 10 and 18 hours transaction still pending yet with network kinds is segwit, usually with this network are easily for transaction confirming and without waiting one or two hours transaction will complete.
This is completely wrong.
First, there is no such thing as segwit network. There's only one bitcoin network.
Second, it's not that transactions are usually confirmed in 1-2 hours if you use segwit addresses. Miners prioritize transactions based on their fee rate and the confirmation time depends on how busy the network is and the fee rate (in sat/vbyte) you used for your transaction.

And where did you get the 10 and 18 hours from?
OP's transaction was made around 11 days ago and that's still unconfirmed.
934  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin transaction on: September 09, 2023, 06:56:32 PM
Do you have control over any of receiving addresses? In other words, do you own the private key of bc1qdxsl5yglz2wl09l6xv9e5qz7zjzlmzyaspzneg or 19VqpsRY85mcHXsJjJXF1AzTYwtdZRiE8G?
If so, you can import your private key into a wallet allowing you to spend unconfirmed output and do CPFP.

In CPFP (child pay for parent) method, the unconfirmed output is spent with a high fee in a new transaction, so that miners include both transaction in the same block.
935  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Paying a miner to personally mine a transaction on: September 09, 2023, 09:05:31 AM
Bitcoin effectively allows RBF of any transaction.
As there are many nodes that have enabled full RBF and there are mining pools that accept replacement transaction even if the original transaction has not been flagged as RBF, it's possible to replace any unconfirmed bitcoin transaction with a new one paying higher fee. But that can be done only by the sender.
If OP has control over the receiving address, he/she can do CPFP. Otherwise, the only way to accelerate the transaction is to pay a mining pool, so that they prioritize the transaction.
936  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin transaction pending for 5+ days on: September 08, 2023, 07:33:16 PM
Viabtc paid service always returns an error, I tried the free one, it works perfectly it recognizes transactions, I even managed to accelerate one but the paid one give me an error all the time. It might be because I'm on mobile but I tried desktop view in FF and Chrome and it's still the same.
I just checked that on PC and I confirm that their paid service is not working.
I submitted several transaction IDs with the fee rates ranging from 8 sat/vbyte to 15 sat/vbyte to their paid service and got error for all of them. It only displays a message at top of the screen saying "Error" without any explanation on what causing the error.
937  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Paying a miner to personally mine a transaction on: September 08, 2023, 06:12:29 PM
Take note that individual miners have no control over choosing transactions that are included in a block and you should ask mining pool operators to include your transaction.

ViaBTC has such a service and you can pay them to include your transaction in the next block by them, but they usually charge a very big fee.
https://www.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator

Do you have control over the address you received the fund on?
If the address doesn't belong to a custodial service like an exchange and you own its private key, you can import your private key in a wallet that allow you to spend unconfirmed outputs like electrum and do CPFP.

939  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Etoro wallet pending transaction 28days on: September 08, 2023, 06:13:29 AM
I doubt OP can do CPFP.

OP, the transaction has been made 4 weeks ago and with the fee rate of only 1 sat/vbyte.
Almost no node has your transaction in their mempool and it's very unlikely that you can broadcast a transaction using the unconfirmed output created on the transaction in question.
If you import your address/private key in electrum or any other wallet, I doubt you can see the incoming unconfirmed transaction.

The only thing you can do now is to contact Etoro again and ask them to broadcast a new transaction with higher fee rate.

This mean that you need to move that balance paying some 40 sat/vB to move both TX.
In the unlikely event OP can do CPFP, 40 sat/vbyte wouldn't be enough.

The transaction in question has the virtual size of 1250 vbytes and assuming the new transaction will include 1 segwit 1 input and 1 output, its virtual size would be around 110 vbyte.
If OP use the fee rate of 40 sat/vbyte for the new transaction, the total fee (the fee paid for two transactions) would be around 5650 satoshi and the combined fee would be only 4 sat/vbyte.

OP should use the fee rate of 175 sat/vbyte for the new transaction, so that the combined fee is 15 sat/vbyte.
940  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which is safest wallet for bitcoin long term holding? on: September 07, 2023, 07:43:24 AM
Any non-custodial wallet is good and safe for holding bitcoins.
No. You should avoid close-source non-custodial wallets even for holding small amount of bitcoin.
For example, trustwallet is non-custodial and gives you access to your private keys. But it's close-source and there is no way to know how the keys are generated and whether the user is only one who has access to the keys or not.
