Anyways back to Viacoin discussion.

Regarding the price, its not just Via. As bitcoin prices drop people tend to liquidate their coins in bitcoin and sell it for fiat hoping to buy bitcoin at a lower price. All it takes is one big sell order on any coin to start the chain reaction and panic. Try looking into the history of stock markets at its very beginning, the past is the key to the future  Wink

True, this week has been red all along for every single coin (and other markets in general), except maybe, the ones backed by real assets (see URO, SYNC) that perhaps are or at least are considered less affected by whatever happens with BTC itself (?).

Honestly, my concern is that I got some orders stuck in the high 50s (I play at certain % for long term investment which I hold since the 20s, and a smaller % for shorting, trying to buy cheaper and reinvest afterwards, increasing the total holding of the coin). Guess I will have to wait to release the shorts and keep playing with them.

Eth.

This month has been pretty bad, number of trolls have increased exponentially around the forum, volume is shrinking everyday, prices dropping...etc. I assume the drop in prices causes alot of angry traders and leads them to troll the coins doing good while others are just getting slaughtered. Is it possible there's alot of profit taking, position adjustments before the beginning of September when alot of people are back in the markets after their summer vacations?

I'll be honest.  I dismissed investing in Syscoin early on, almost right away.  I had a visceral reaction to their video, and the fact that they were selling t-shirts, hats, and keychains on their ANN page didn't sit well with me either.  I want to see someone focused on their work, not on making some side change.  So presentation wise, they didn't grab my attention enough to bother deeply looking into what they were doing. Again it could be a winner, it just didn't fit into what I'm looking for.

Later after they had done the first portion of their IPO and had moved onto their bigger raise, I'd been told to check them out again.  From the little I did read, I noticed the guys were working on it part time (correct me if I'm wrong).  It's hard enough to change the world even when dedicated on a full time basis, it's practically impossible to do it part time.  So I stopped reading there again.

I could be wrong, and they might deliver.  But I approach investing a lot how I imagine surfing would be.  I like to see things line up right before I put any real effort into trying to catch the right wave.  If early indicators tell me it's not the right one, then I don't bother looking at it much more (unless I have good reason to come back to it).  If you try to catch every wave (or in this case invest in every coin that looks kinda interesting) you'll just be exhausted and when the good one comes along you won't be able to maximize your enjoyment, or in the case of cryptos your return.  Again, this is just how I approach it.  The video and t-shirts that I had a visceral reaction to could legitimately be the kind of thing someone else is looking for.

This is not to say that it's not a +EV investment.  I think there is likely a good trade in there as the final Syscoin of the sale got snatched up pretty quickly.  I'm sure after it hits exchanges there'll be some money to be made.  But it's not the big wave I'm willing to try and take for a long ride.

Thank you very much for your answer, appreciate it. Your absolutely right, catching every coin does take the joy out the whole thing. I usually try going with 1-2 coins at most and it has worked very well for me. I got a little carried this month and jumped on more coins than I usually do and didn't end too well. Via is my top investment for now, been trying to find another promising coin and invest early. Syscoin seems worth the investment and hopefully my judgement is right on this just as with my choice to invest in Via.

Thanks again for the input, helps alot for future decisions and investments.

Anyways back to Viacoin discussion.

"It is truly amazing that there are people in alts like yourself and Otoh, you guys are keeping alts afloat!"

I bought into BTC at $75 originally and continued up until around $130 (last June I think), I never looked back and leveraged that into my other altcoin positions.  I bought into LTC at $2 up through $8 and was completely out of it above $20.  I began buying DRK at $1 all the way down to $0.55 and continued to buy it up to $3 so my average price is doing just fine even with the recent carnage.  I bought into Via at the ICO and stopped buying around 25k satoshis.  These have been my four major investments in crypto in the last 16 months.  I do just fine in finding good investments early enough to not lose on them.

Oh yea, and Otoh's results crush mine.

Masternode, could I be your slave? I want to be your padawan.  Tongue

I bought Viacoin at ICO, 15k, 36k, 40k and I still continue buying at any price below 95k (Catch-up price to Counterparty) whenever I buy BTC.

Ha.

I'm always down to talk discuss theory with anyone, however lately Otoh and I have been focused more on startup investments.  New game, lots to learn.

Might be way offtopic and feel free to not answer it Masternode. I value your opinion and just wondering whats your take on Syscoin? I know this might be way offtopic and I'll delete it if anyone objects. Just wondering your take on it as people do see it performing as good as Via when launched.

2 Billion coin... Bitcoin fork... Scrypt mining... Crazy IPO price... Still presale sold out...! What is wrong with you people???
Why encourage these craps...? Are you all throwing away ur BTC's just for a phrase 'Business on the blockchain??? Grow up

Wait until release, there is tons of value add there. Even read the code if you have to to be convinced.

I agree the coin will probably rise in price once it hits the market, who really knows tho, but isnt the price kind of high for a 2 billion coin market? Most billion coin markets start off with .0000000 range not .00000 range

I guess it will depend on if the coin is released fully featured as advertised, or if it's just another coin release, Moola releases the 1500 BTC and the DEVs go on an extended vacation...

Coins are only released when the devs release the coin with all fully working features advertised in the main OP.

Price below IPO price, good job on keeping it above 1800. I hope this is a lesson to everyone to not trust shitty ICOs sponsored by c-cex which I'm sure they bought the majority of the ICO and dumped it on everyone. Devs made btc from the ICO, c-cex admin made btc from the ICO. Win win situation and and its funny c-cex can be trusted? Don't think so.

Cut my losses happy just a few bucks.

Lesson learned, stay away from new coins well coins like this and c-cex exchange.

Please keep ridiculous accusations off our thread, we had a 4 btc buy order at 1800 satoshi this was not 1k btc presale with unlimitted funds to handle whale manipulation. The buy order was filled within 3 hours of the end of the presale. If you need someone to blame then look at your peers and ask them why price manipulation was their goal. Last and only FUD i'll respond to.

Funds will be used for future coin development, marketing, and asic purchases. Asic btc earned will be on a public address and
will continually buy up Joincoin at fair market value. Advertising and marketing will be expanded
and more brought on after the Pre-sale completes. Joincoin cannot be dumped by miners below the ipo price or they will be mining
at a complete loss, this was by design to protect the investment of everyone in the Pre-Sale.

buying ASICS to mine btc where you could easily just buy Hash power from https://cex.io/ and begin mining btc from now. Flawed design, now that were under the IPO price you think people will still mine this as prices drop? Mining stops due to it being unprofitable, network dead, coin dead.

Oh and nothing is ridiculous in cryptos. Good luck with your next coin. Next time post with your real bitcointalk username if your here to stay.

anyone can guess the prices when this coin add to exchange ? Grin

40,000 sat is where it will open.

that's my educated guess

and you can mine them here: http://sys.lifeforce.info (open now for registrations)

Im not familiar with sats unit rate. How much is that in USD & btc? I heard there is a push to dominate BTC in satoshis from now on. I think its a good idea, I rather have millions of sats then a few coins, even if its exactly the same. I believe thats how it would work.

So do people think this coin will rise or fall upon release? A few days after release?

0.0004 sat*300 million coins=120,000 btc*490$(bte-c rate at the time of posting)=$58,800,000

WOAH!! 59 million market cap is very ambitious. I really doubt that estimate. That would place this coin 3rd over all in market cap. Extremely bullish, I must say, that seems very unlikely. Im going to invest about 2 btc bcuz I like this coin but I certainly dont expect that big of a jump. Im fact I would not be surprised if price dips for a couple days after the launch.

I would say a 2-4 million marketcap in the first few days. I doubt the price will drop below the early bird ICO price, but again cryptos defy logic Cheesy

40k sat is about $3 USD per coin - but without a doubt the coin will fall initially because IPO buyers will dump for a quick profit -- it always happens.

however a price of about .30 or .40 cents per coin is more realistic

40k~0.20$, 3$ is 400k sat  Smiley

0.00000518 BTC/SYS

Fuck that's expensive.

There's two BILLION coins guys. Not two hundred million.

Even if I thought this coin had some potential I wouldn't buy at IPO price, but 10x lower at the future market price.

Weird people said the same thing about via, look what happened. There's always a risk but this one is less riskier than the other ICOs coming out that offer nothing. Besides if the devs don't deliver working features they posted in the OP they won't be getting a dime from the 1500 BTC and we get refunds from Moolah.

So if I wanted to upload a 1mb picture of my penis, it would cost $120 and for the next 30 years people will have to irrelevantly download a picture of my encrypted penis. Seems well thought out. Or I could just use dropbox with gb for free.

The blockchain bloat will wipe out the functionality of this

In case you weren't paying attention the devs effed up by not setting an IPO limit, and if you look at the history one person bought most of the IPO all at once, good luck plebs

Can you show me where you can see the history? Can't see passed today in trade histroy on c-cex.

News get posted. Price gets dumped to 30k. how convenient

It is a tactic commonly used by whales. They wait until right after an announcement and then dump a few coins to create panic.

Buy the rumor, sell the news.

It gets dumped because people rush to buy when good news is announced, whales dump into the buying to sell for the most amount of profit. Instead of dumping and loosing profits due to the low amount of buy orders at higher prices they sell after new releases. Now Tuesday is the next announcement, so prices should bounce back up and drop somewhat on Tuesday depending on how big the news is on Tuesday. Tuesday's news might be better than expected and price jumps instead of dropping. You might want to search about fundamental analysis and trader psychology.

Remove Your Sell Walls & Your Coins From Bittrex

As some of you have already pointed out having this many sell walls up now doesn't help anyone. By removing your sell walls you alleviate sell pressure and also make it significantly easier to get CLD back above 40,000. We the investors control the price of CLD, and the less coins being sold the higher it goes. Think about the first day of trading, CLD quadrupled in price because no one had sell walls up yet. I would also like to make it clear it is not safe to have so many coins on the exchange. We all remember what happened with BlackCoin and VeriCoin. There are approximately 901,358 coins being stored on Bittrex! That is basically the entire supply of coins! I am not saying you have to remove your entire stash from the exchange, but maybe half or a bit more to be safe.

I am not going to do predictions but I believe CLD is a 200k+ coin. I do not fault anyone for wanting to sell for profit, but you are really selling far too low. It is similar to selling a new car for the price of a bus ticket. The developer has been approved by multiple services and I also had him vetted before I invested. He is a smart and driven man with impressive credentials, and I sincerely believe he wants the best for all of us and CLD. He has been very professional and active throughout this process, and I am more than confident if anyone can make a success out of this coin he can.

So lets take a moment and think about what he has already accomplished.

1. One of the smoothest and fairest launches ever.
2. Working Android wallet first week of launch.
3. Cloud service (In Beta) first week of launch.
4. Press release first week of launch.
5. Ad campaign first week of launch.
6. Explainer videos first week of launch.

How many other coins had this much done the first week of launch? XCloudCoin has accomplished more in 5 days than most other coins that was released a month ago. So if XCloudCoin is not a good investment, then I do not know what other alt coin is.

We don't see eye to eye on everything - But we are in absolute agreement when in comes to Cloudcoin. Get your coins off the exchange folks, get them either locked away behind a password protected wallet or staking to support the network.

ah no thanks, my coins are safer on bittrex than in my wallet. With 2FA enabled, I can sleep without worrying that I'll wake up with no coins.

But seriously, telling everyone to deposit their coins in their wallets? Keep yours on bittrex offcourse and prices hit big you can be the first to sell with maximum profit while we suckers all wait for Our deposits to confirm.

Nice try buddy, was going to buy some more coins but will wait till IE has left. He'll usually be out by next week, then we can see price improve.
978  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: ???IS scam of !!! on: August 14, 2014, 09:41:48 AM
why did you even deposit btc on that exchange? Volume looks fake, have you checked around the forum to see if they even have an announcement thread of their exchange? Looks like that exchange was launched Aug 7th and has that kind of volume...scam. Reminds of another scam exchange freshex or something like that don't really recall its exact name.

IconicExpert's lottery is an ingenious way to get users to remove their coins from the exchange and put them in their wallet.

Smart plan - chance to win 7000 CLD by simply pulling your coins off the exchange.

Smart move but I can't get off my mind is he's giving away lots of CLD, wondering how much does he have to be giving away that much and when he sells whats going to happen to prices? He usually holds for a week or 2 before moving to a new coin. Worried that when he dumps and tweets about and his followers dump whats going to happen?

wtf? i run some errands for an hour and come back to CLD @ 21k sat? what in the bloody hell? people are seriously selling now?

smh @ daytraders

Must be the worst week of the summer, thinking of just taking a 2 week breather from cryptos until everything calms down. Only took a few btc to drop the price which is stupid.

Retard, stop quoting the entire first post... Angry
