981  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Website crypto-hardware.com launched, suggestions wanted! on: August 10, 2023, 10:20:58 AM
Yeah, the website is too slow. Troubles with CDN. Working on it...
I just checked your website and it loads easily. Have you updated your CDN?

One thing I can nitpick is probably the filter option. The difference between "also altcoins" and "optional bitcoin only" is quite unclear. Maybe adding a pop-up explanation would be better when the user hovers over it, or just delete and improve the filter altogether. As of now, it seems like it refers to the same thing.
982  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: binance vs decentralized exchange on: August 09, 2023, 11:37:42 AM
Another thing is - its easier to set up scripts and auto trade in binance. I have looked at ways of setting up pinescript to auto trade on DYDX or other dex but is complicated involving VPS. If anyone knows differently please let me know
Have you checked out autotrader? It looks like they support dydx too[1]. Not sure if it requires a VPS or not, it looks like you can just run it on your computer (although a VPS is probably preferred if you want to run it 24/7). On the other hand, the last update is last year so you should expect some problems. I do believe the tradeoff is quite worth it if you are not comfortable with KYC at all.

983  Economy / Exchanges / Re: *warning* Huobi insolvency rumours on: August 09, 2023, 10:54:59 AM
If I remember correctly, there was a rumor related to Gate insolvency a while back too. Looks like exchanges are more interconnected than one might think since the timing and transactions are quite suspicious. I wonder if new exchanges that come up recently are their shadows in one way or another. I won't be surprised if top exchanges went bankrupt and then some people found funds are transferred to new exchanges. According to the latest news, Justin Sun inject a ton of money into Huobi recently to help solve this issue. Let's see if that will work out or not.

It is interesting to see if any collapse will affect some local exchanges in my region since some of them have connections with overseas exchanges like Binance. Anyway, withdraw your funds asap!
984  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: BlackRock and MSCI are facing congressional probes over facilitating investments on: August 09, 2023, 10:28:59 AM
But the consequence is that many viable businesses will have to leave the US to other countries. It's also good news to other nations that these businesses will move to.
I honestly doubt it will go to that point, especially if the business is based in the US, to begin with. It is likely that they will move some offices to other countries or use other means to bypass the regulation that slows down their business, but unlikely to move outside the US completely unless they can go to Europe or China. Paying a fine once in a while is probably more profitable for the business involved compared to losing access to the US market altogether. CMIIW.
985  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin decentralization debate on: August 09, 2023, 10:23:36 AM
only because he does not believe that there is decentralization in anything.
If you really want to spend time arguing with him, maybe you can focus on this point first. If his fundamental beliefs can't be changed then it's really useless even if you bring miners or nodes decentralization and so on. It's kinda useless if he just says "well, there's nothing decentralized in this universe" every time you talk to him. On top of that, maybe his understanding of Bitcoin is already different from yours, so there's no middle ground to debate on.

I do agree with others that doing something like this is just a waste of time. The result probably won't change that much regardless of what method or argument you bring to the table.
986  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think it's a good idea if BTC has smart contract capability? on: August 09, 2023, 10:02:39 AM
Bridges should not need to exist in the first place. That's what exchanges are for.
We should be able to do that with an atomic swap or something similar. Although I'm not sure what is the consensus related to atomic swap, whether it is a smart contract or not. I'm not comfortable relying on exchange if I want to swap one coin for another, and the bridge is not really the best solution since it is geared more toward developers or businesses to take profits from market exposure instead of assets security IMO.

That being said, testing the code is definitely required even if it is not as 'complex' as smart contracts. CMIIW.
987  Local / Marketplace (Bahasa Indonesia) / Re: [Gratis] Jasa Konsultasi Spek Komputer (PC & Laptop) + Diskusi on: August 08, 2023, 09:07:44 AM

Kira-kira worth ga ya untuk mempercepat loading time aplikasi/game kalau ane punya RAM 32GB?
989  Local / Ekonomi, Politik, dan Budaya / Re: PNS & ASN on: August 08, 2023, 08:36:26 AM

990  Local / Ekonomi, Politik, dan Budaya / Re: [DISKUSI] Hukum Zakat Bitcoin on: August 08, 2023, 08:04:42 AM
991  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: [DISKUSI] Bagaimana Cara Mewariskan Wallet/Bitcoin? on: August 08, 2023, 07:51:41 AM
992  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Technical question about the transfer on: August 04, 2023, 12:58:49 PM
if that would be someone who robbed the account would probably take USDT also 🤔 anyone has any ideas? All answers will be appreciated.
Binance would never replace your address on its own. Assuming you select the right network, it is likely that the malware just replaces anything on your clipboard as long as it is a crypto address. I second the suggestion to use another device and scan/reinstall your current system to make sure there is no malware lurking around your computer. You can also assume that your seed or private keys are already exposed if your copied address keeps changing. CMIIW.
993  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: One of the worst examples of a "HW wallet" on ebay I've ever seen on: August 04, 2023, 12:24:51 PM
It sucks that we can not give a warning directly to scammers like this. But shouldn't eBay allow the buyers to get their money back if they found out that it is just a USB with an Electrum installed? Or do they assume that the buyer is aware since the seller is showing the whole screenshot, so technically he didn't lie? The seller doesn't accept returns too. Either way, hopefully, no one is stupid enough to buy this.
994  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can we choose our own seed words? on: August 04, 2023, 11:57:31 AM
I prefer offline backup if you are sure you can store them securely.
You should make sure you store them securely though, granted the level of security might differ depending on what you have and know, but it should be your goal, not a choice. Afaik, most experienced members will always recommend you to store your backup offline, with tips and tricks being shared on various boards such as this one[1]. I suggest reading some of these topics to try to improve your security. Might as well educate your family if you plan to share one or two things about Bitcoin with them. CMIIW.

995  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: BlackRock and MSCI are facing congressional probes over facilitating investments on: August 04, 2023, 11:49:30 AM
The investigation seeks to determine facts that would inform US policy on China, per the Journal."
So, If I get this right, congress claims that Blackrock is sharing confidential data with their China partners which might worsen the US-China relationship even further. That is some serious allegations. Although I'm sure Blackrock will just get away by paying some fine and then continue their business as usual.
996  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Proposal for a Satoshi-sign on: August 04, 2023, 11:32:59 AM
Well.. the first one is the Bitcoin sign, the second one the one she made for Sats.
Is there any reason why it is a small b instead of s? Maybe if you can explain it more people will agree with you, although it is unlikely to gain large traction since the community is way too big already. If you plan to use it on your own websites/blogs or something similar, people might also get confused since you use different symbols.

I guess adaption was easy back then - only few people were really active in the Bitcoin world, and most just liked bitboy's proposals.
That's right, compared to now it would be difficult to encourage users to use your symbol, especially if it indirectly clashes with the previous one.
997  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitmart a good exchange? Now supporting lightning network on: August 03, 2023, 01:09:11 PM
I used them in the past but shortly leave since their liquidity is low for coins that I want to trade with. Granted it is not the top 10 or 20 coins, but the experience is still not great. I also recall seeing some reports about deposit or withdrawal problems in the past. Most of them are caused by technical issues iirc. Personally, I'd put them on my last resort exchange if I can't find any alternatives for my needs. The lightning network is also supported by more exchanges now, so I don't see it as a unique feature that would attract me to comeback.
998  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as an inflation hedge on: August 03, 2023, 12:56:36 PM
Who are you referring to with "some people"? Your friend/family, or those famous anti-crypto/Bitcoin on social media? If you want to convince people it will differ based on how opinionated they are and how familiar they are with crypto. I doubt you'll convince people with the reasons you mentioned above though, since even crypto maxi will probably disagree with your points.

At the end of the day, some people already use Bitcoin as an inflation hedge. Services that accept Bitcoin or offer investment services related to crypto also increase slowly. I believe it will stay so you don't have to worry that much. There's no need to convince people that firmly believe crypto will fail, just keep DCA and manage your risk. You don't really have to worry that people won't buy Bitcoin because they don't see it as an inflation hedge, since most of them will likely trade it anyway.
999  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: risk of centralization of bitcoin. on: August 03, 2023, 12:33:30 PM
As for centralisation, it is also possible, but we can see that it is distributed across, from US to Asia and even to some remote region in Russia and Europe. So again, it is present, but not seeing that it will disrupt the ecosystem.
It is still not ideal as mentioned above. I believe others already said it better, but you don't want to make miners concentrated in one or two countries. I think some people are trying to discourage this by encouraging miners to move to other countries, but that is not ideal since every miner's condition is different. At the end of the day, they are doing that for profit. I guess the worst scenario would be a huge decrease in hash rate and then a period of slow confirmation if something terrible happened to miners due to regulation.
1000  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: bitcoin has its own operating system on: August 03, 2023, 12:07:06 PM
Looks like a paid article or an article from a text spinner. The writer is also not clear. Does the website have any credibility, to begin with? Some parts of the articles look like it was paraphrased from Investopedia on more or less the same topic[1]. I suggest you not use their definition which is deliberately misleading.
