tl;dr Just got refunded in PP from BFL and made a $1kAUD off it.

No notice; I randomly logged into PayPal and saw $6kAUD in my account and went WTF? Details showed:
Code:
22 Jan 2015	Refund Completed ...	$5,032.00 USD
22 Jan 2015 Currency Conversion Completed Details -$5,032.00 USD
22 Jan 2015 Currency Conversion Completed Details $6,053.55 AUD

when I originally purchased the 2 x BFL Singles 50GH/s in April, 2013 i only paid:
Code:
6 Apr 2013	Currency Conversion Completed Details	-$5,025.22 AUD
6 Apr 2013 Currency Conversion Completed Details $5,032.00 USD

so i made $1kAUD + they give me free cloud mining which made ~1btc. (altho i just remembered i paid 1.6btc to upgrade the order to a Monarch..)

Happy Days...
QG

Are they a good ASIC Company now?

No, stay away from BFL.
462  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S5 Setup [HD] on: January 24, 2015, 05:42:22 AM
To power your new S5 which PSU or PSU's would you use? Why?

Single HX850W? Single HX750W? Single CX750M? Or twin CX600s or twin CX500Ms?

Likely overclock in the future. All PSU's are Corsairs.

thanks all

Single CX750M is the best buy for EU, EVGA 1300W for the US. I would have said the RM1000 if S5s had been just a bit lower power consumption as those things are amazing, but alas its just a bit too much for 2x on an RM1000.

What? I've got a number of Corsair PSU's, looking for reco on what to use out of what I have.

1x HX850 or 1x HX750 Corsairs? Have 3x CX750Ms, believe one will run the C5. Be safe and run two? Or is the completely contrary to power conservation?
Run twin CX600s?

thanks!

Single cx750, hx750 or hx850 will done the job, but if you cont the efficiency then hx850 will give smaller power usage.

Congratulation dude, you are very lucky Smiley
464  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S3 Problems, please help! on: January 23, 2015, 06:35:16 AM
No, no matter what i do it won't work, Zich's instructions didn't do anything at all, i open a web browser, type 192.168.1.99 in the address bar, and it just says "Connecting..." in the lower left corner, then tells me it couldn't connect, then i try to ping 192.168.1.99 with cmd and EDIT: It actually says "your computer isn't connected to the internet" so it won't connect, even though the thing is direct connected to my computer........

Type ipconfig/all on cmd then please post the result screen shot
465  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Unofficial Spondoolies SP20 thread on: January 21, 2015, 11:39:32 AM
I wouldn't remove the bottom metal stand - it keeps the boards firmly in place. Thinking about changing the stock fan though, the noise is driving me crazy now with 4 units

Even without that stand the top mounting for the controller board will still lock those ASIC boards firmly in place. Stock fan is terrible, any delta 7 blade fan works much better than stock fan, but the problem is to modify the cabling to utilize the PWM feature on board, too much work for 4 units

Someone linked these http://www.ebay.com/itm/Micro-Mini-JST-Connector-1-5mm-4-pin-w-Wire-x-10-sets-/161350482183 in a different thread. I'm not sure what kind of adapater is needed. Couldn't you just hook the fan directly up to the PSU with some sort of regulator in between? Where to get said regulator is beyond me.

You could get power directly from psu but the fan will run with maximum speed. What johnyj want is the pwm feature from control board.
466  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Finally not loud Antminer S5, very cheap mod :) on: January 20, 2015, 01:36:56 AM
@ bbxx!

What is the decibel level now?Huh?

It's 45 dB now according to OP.
467  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S3 Only Running at 400 GH/s Max? on: January 20, 2015, 01:29:44 AM
Oh, dang.  That's a shame I guess.  I'll switch PSUs over.  I don't care about the S1 as much since it draws more power anyways.  The reason I got it in the first place was because someone else running the same set up as mine had the 725 watt version and was able to run an S3+ and the new R-Box 2.0 off of his, no problems.  Guess I'll just have to deal with what I have and make the best of it.  Thanks for your help.

No problem dude  Smiley
Let see how is the performance after changing better psu.
468  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S3 Only Running at 400 GH/s Max? on: January 20, 2015, 01:12:38 AM
I was a bit low on money, so I just picked up a Sentey 625 watt PSU and I'm using that.  I also have a Corsair CX-500 running my overclocked Antminer S1 (I don't have to worry about power costs).  Would that be better?  I was planning on trying later tonight.

I hate to say this but that is crap psu dude. Amazon customer review all reporting problem.
469  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer U2 Help on: January 20, 2015, 01:08:09 AM
Sooo I was unplugged my AntminerU2 to clean my laptop. When I plugged it back in (In the same COM), I opened up cgminer and it said "No Devices Detected." So I went and reinstalled CP210xVCPIINstaller_x64.exe. Then I went to Zadig to reinstalled the driver again. I plugged it back in and still it said "No Devices Detected." Any help? Huh

Try using another usb cable & usb port.
470  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S3 Only Running at 400 GH/s Max? on: January 20, 2015, 12:35:07 AM
Hi!  I recently purchased a used Antminer S3 from eBay, never overclocked, run in a clean environment.  I've been running it for a few days now and I've noticed that the readings are always just around 400 GH/s on average, which seems to be a bit too little for me.  On Bitmain's website, they say it runs at 441 GH/s +-5%, which still should leave me with about 420 GH/s at the very least.  I am running at a clock speed of the default 218, all chips are working according to the web interface.  Temperatures never go over 37 degrees.  Am I doing something wrong, or did I just get a bad miner?  Is there anything I can do to increase the hashrate?  I cannot overclock, as my PSU only has 2 PCI-e connectors.  Thanks.

What is your psu brand & type?
471  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain problems on: January 19, 2015, 01:17:47 PM

This is likely what happened:
1) You put inappropriate power supplies on the units, repeatedly.
2) The power supplies died.
3) On of them may have electrically damaged the S3 on its way out.
4) You put an appropriate power supply on the unit, but after it had already been traumatised by 3 other exploding power supplies, it subsequently killed the 1000w.

None of those are primary issues with the S3s, so its up to BM what they decide to do for you.

EVGA 1000w SuperNova G1 can not be killed with a short. It is protected against short circuit.

We can not know for sure what exactly happen. There is no guarantee that the short circuit protection can protect the psu since we didn't know what kind of short it can stand(even the factory will be had problem to identify).
The fact now even the EVGA is dead.
472  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review 14] Spondoolies SP20 on: January 19, 2015, 08:20:07 AM
Just received my order from Spon-Doolies and very satisfied with the deliver. I ordered 3 SP20 Jackson mining rigs and they look beautiful. Ordering my 1300w PSU and want to know if
"EVGA SuperNOVA 1300G2 ATX12V/EPS12V" 1300W 80Plus Gold Power Supply 120-G2-1300-XR ---- from -----> http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-SuperNOVA-1300G2-ATX12V-120-G2-1300-XR/dp/B00COIZTZM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420947274&sr=8-1&keywords=ATX+1300w+PSU
will work?
Also what would be the best pool for that, that you would recommend ?

THanks

How many miner will you hooked on evga 1300?

Hi,

I have 1 EVGA hooked up to each SP20 rig. So 3 EVGA's and 3 SP20.

That's good psu, I bet the load on each psu is around 50%.
473  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMiner BE300S Samples Arrived, <0.2W/G Achieved at Board Level on: January 18, 2015, 08:49:22 AM
It's seem that the color on some area of the board become darker. Maybe due to high temperature.
474  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Am I really mining or not? on: January 17, 2015, 01:57:08 AM
What armedmilitia said might be true. Could you please post the screen shot of your mining software?
475  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 2 x Bitmain Antminer U3 not running the same speeds? on: January 17, 2015, 01:54:00 AM
Yea I have 2. I opened one and cleaned all the paste very preciclsy and with proper tools.

It seems to have fixed the problem. But now the other one also runs fine.

So its wierd. Still trying to work out.

Some people say to use a powered USB since the U3 might use a bit more and cause reset on the USB port and force a "crash" on the driver.

Using powered usb hub is not a bad idea. Just find the one that using MTT chip.
476  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S5 Setup [HD] on: January 16, 2015, 05:39:47 AM
Anybody know - would an S5 run properly if you plugged another fan and two more cards in to it (provided you powered the two additional cards with a sufficient PSU)?

Because the situation is that one of my two S5s came DOA - the top PCB is defective and I'm waiting for a replacement. Worth the risk of plugging the two cards on the broken miner into my working S5?

I wouldn't try it, those cables are also mightly short. By DOA, what do you mean? We can probably get it going again.

DOA = Dead On Arrival

It's that top chip that you plug the ethernet into. Of the two miners, one works and one doesn't. When the broken chip is being used, the fan doesn't run, it makes little to no noise, and I cannot find it online using my router. But when I remove the "broken" chip and then replace it with the "working" chip from the other miner, it works fine. That's the best I think I can describe the issue (I tried pressing that button to restore it to factory settings, but nothing...)

I am emailing with Yoshi and he's been helpful. He and the team have been providing suggestions, but I either am lacking some technical knowledge or it's beyond immediate repair. I've got an RMA going and sent them the broken chip to have it fixed or replaced.

But if you have any ideas as to what it might have been, I'd be curious to hear as I spent a lot of time troubleshooting  Tongue

OFC dogie know what DOA mean. What dogie want to know is the symptom? Can you access the configuration page? etc
What is the "top chip" you mean here? Chip is usually refer to single ic or asic.

Should i just go on a new pool without vardiff. i was only on this pool for about an hour. I have the antminer S5

Nothing wrong with the number. You are good to continue.
478  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: New ISP and now Antminer S1 not mining on: January 16, 2015, 12:53:32 AM
Cool, I finally understood what you were talking about and worked out how to change these settings on the S1.
All working perfectly now.
Thanks again, you are a star, and well done for not taking the piss out of me for being so inept - my 11 year old son would not have been as forgiving.
Thanks again

No problem dude. Happy mining  Smiley
479  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 2 x Bitmain Antminer U3 not running the same speeds? on: January 15, 2015, 11:52:19 AM
Does it really matter? Its not a cheap Chinese thing for sure. I used it to run a server for a while with 6HDD's I know its capable of powering the units. But maybe I am just being ignorant?

What make would you recommend and why?

Maybe, but since you said it can run 6 hdd, then we can pass the psu.
The other culprit maybe overheat. Some already open the heatsink & report that the work around the chip is a mess.
480  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: HOW TO ENABLE USB DEVICES FROM CGMINER? on: January 15, 2015, 11:46:03 AM
I am having some difficulty getting 2 new r boxes enabled with cg miner. when i open the program and go to USB management, List all known devices it sees the 2 New R boxes but they come up as inactive. There is an enable option in CGminer but it asks for the device number which is where i get stuck. If anyone could help or point me in the right direction it would be awesome. I am new to the bitcoin community and would love to learn as much as i can.

thank you in advance!

That simply mean that cgminer didn't recognize the r box. I don't know if the official cgminer had support for r box. You might want to get the cgminer from r box.
