I would like to get some info about the noise level ... the specifications says ~20 DB at 25 °C ambient temperature ... is this true and is this at max load @160 GH/s? Is it equipped with some high quality 80mm fan that adjusts speed in accordance with the temperature?

The speed is fix at maximum speed of fan. None of Technotbit miner had pwm feature for fan speed control until now, in future maybe  Smiley

663  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Technobit 2HEX4M Setup [HD] on: December 04, 2014, 01:10:52 AM
right ordered a tp link , but still cant get windows to see it for what it is  Undecided
i`m getting a few ghs out of it and a lot of
HEXM 0 CHIP 0,1,2,3 last received nonce 2 secs ago reset
 and it see`s
0: HEXM 0  : 1016  805/0802mv 20.12gh ....... this is on cgminer technobit win 0-3-8
i`m using 2 cm750m to power, (but can mod a 2kw server psu)
i`m a bit concerned because its a 2hex4m but i can only see 1 on cgminer screen
anyone got any ideas???
thanks mike

Seem like wrong setting. Can you post your setting?
There is 2 board in there hence you will need 2 usb cable(1 usb cable per board) to connect 2hex4m to HOST.
If using TPLINK TL-MR3020 you will need powered usb hub.

.............
Unless I'm misunderstanding, this is just a USB based Bitcoin miner. Marto's suggesting you can run a solo node or use ckpool and try to solo mine a block, but you can use this to mine on a pool as well. The DICE themselves aren't winners, it's just Bitcoin mining.

Your formula appears correct though, with the following assumption that difficulty doesn't change either from outside sources, or you buying enough to affect difficulty.

No, you are absolutely right.
Some people just can not see what advertisement mean by using "DICE" word.

Thanks dogie and thanks zich
I'm going to have a play, and get a tp link
hopefully I'll have it sorted soon Smiley
is it possible to run the hex4ms and the hex8A1 together?
Cheers Mike

Anytime dude  Smiley
If you gonna play with TPLINK TL-MR3020, checkout this thread How to upgrade TPLINK TL-MR3020 firmware to technobit openwrt
666  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Technobit "DICE" 160Ghs Entry miner/blockchain personal lottery device on: December 03, 2014, 09:07:05 AM

a patched version of cgminer does not mean documentation to the developers of cgminer so they can implement the drivers for said device correctly.
If technobit has the drivers and gives them up in the fork tree of cgminer, unless technobit tells them how to edit and modify the drivers, its up to technobit to implement it correctly. so guess what, when a new cgminer comes out, no updates to the drivers are going to be implemented, any security holes, memory leaks, chip killing code will be present in the next patch and there after...

What are you talking about dude? Your sentences twist up & make no sense.
Who is they you mean there?
Who will implement?

Type it slowly, one by one. This is not a race.

The people that "They" are is Ckolivas and if i recall correctly, Kano too.
They are the people who run and maintain CGMiner.
Any drivers for hardware that use CGminer is licensed under the GPLv3. This means that the source to any modifications that the hardware makers make to CGMiner code MUST be provided by law if the hardware makers distribute modified binaries.

if they do not, they could get sued

Technobit has offered the drivers as open source, but they better not just throw a blob of code up on the net and call it a day.

If the hardware developers do not give documentation on how the "open source" drivers work with the mining software, things are not going to work properly. Both Luke-JR and Ckolivas will require this.

EG: Rockminer made drivers for CGMiner 4.3.3, making the "New R-Box" run at 110Ghs, but there was a new version of CGMiner out with a security patch.
The devs (Ckolivas) attempted to implement the new modified drivers into the new 4.7.1 and 4.8.0, the drivers are not working correctly. Because Ckolivas does not understand how the drivers work, he needs documentation to get it running correctly. all that Ckolivas can do is modify some numbers and code to get something out, but CGMiner 4.7.1 and 4.8.0 does not run the "New R-Box" at 110GHs but at 80Ghs to 50Ghs.
Some people are lucky to get it working at 120GHs with it, but not all.

do you understand now? technobit better not follow rocketminer.
and i dont mean in the way of making a little mining box like the R-box's, i mean in the way of ignoring the software developers of the mining software.

Technobit never push their driver back to cgminer. If you read cgminer thread & cgminer thread, technobit driver never integrated to new original cgminer version. When new cgminer out from CK, technobit fork the cgminer & make new patch.
So technobit maintain the driver on their own.

well yeah, i have a old 'buntu'ed eeepc701 doing the mining work with the latest cgminer, I'm not going to use a cloned "our own custom mining software" version of it, call me paranoid, rockminers version spat out 120GHs on their "New R-Box" with 50% errors, but no other software could pull 80+GHs at less then 10% errors.. i suspect they did some calculation spoofing..

Well, i been mining using technobit gear. All of their gear do exactly as advertised & never reach 5% error.
The dice reach 157 GH on screen shot, so that what you will get on your pool.

670  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Technobit 2HEX4M Setup [HD] on: December 03, 2014, 01:56:38 AM
Great guide dogie
I've followed it to the T, but my pc and zadig keeps seeing it as a hex8A1 which I have got 3 running fine. Any ideas that could help a noob?
Cheers Mike

This may cause by "handle usb detect error" setting. You can set it to hex4m and see the behavior.

But if i may suggest, it's better to use TPLINK TL-MR3020 as controller then using PC. Cheap, easy configure, low power consumption.
You can buy it in your local computer store then flash it with technobit firmware.
671  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: TECHNOBIT support tread + customer feedback- 800 Ghs enclosed miner -269 EUR on: December 03, 2014, 01:43:26 AM
............

It doesn't specify on them what chips the hubs use. One is of the Pi Hut's own brand, the other branded Cerulian from Maplin, both are 7 port with 2 amp supplies (though I have both powered by the ATX PSUs that power the miners). The way it behaved seemed to be down to lack of power on the USB bus rather than incompatible hardware as when I added the second powered hub, everything worked. As I am typing this I have 3 HEX16Es, a HEX8A1 and a Gridseed Dualminer all connected to the same Pi, all running stably using cgminer.

Yes, most of manufacture never include that information. I always ask them before buying  Cheesy
It's better to use same power supply with the miner.
672  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Block Erupter Prisma (>=1.4 T/device, 0.75-0.78 W/G, <1 BTC/T, October Shipping) on: December 02, 2014, 06:41:20 AM
So fighting with these machines for several weeks now I have found out a couple things:

1. These things are so temp sensitive that I don't see them running autonomously without being installed in a climate controlled environment. Not the heat - but the cold. If I fire them up from cold, or I turn on the vent to full, they will cool down to the point of not even hashing. They don't start to hash halfway stably until the room hits at least 70F+. I shut off the vent for too long and it overheats everything else. This makes me feel like I'm dancing on a wire rope.

2. IR Gun every hashing boards and look for boards that are running 2X+ times as hot as normal hashing boards. These need to be pulled as fire hazard, they may be affected by #3

3. The laminate on the bottom of the pcb/hashing board is VERY thin. One scratch here will reveal the copper substrate inside the pcb and will invariably lead to a short to the heatsink and fire is likely.

I run cointerras, S1, S2, S3, S4, BFL, BTCGarden, ZeusMiners in every flavor, Gridseed G-Blacks, SP20's... This was my very first RMA, flame out and hardware exploding miner, power supplies excluded.

Ok, point 1 is very ridiculous.  I already read other said the same thing, i thought he is only joking.
Now i need to believe even if i can't find the reason for such behavior.
673  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: TECHNOBIT support tread + customer feedback- 800 Ghs enclosed miner -269 EUR on: December 02, 2014, 01:32:23 AM
Just one thing run it @ about 300/840

I've hacked together cables to run all three from a single psu, using all the 12v lines from all the unused sata and peripheral cables to gain the extra pcie cables it needed. I've had it running for a while at that setting without getting too hot.

I had problems with the raspberry pi not detecting all of the miners at the same time (each worked individually) and some of the other usb devices working erratically when all were connected via one hub, so I swapped that for a powered hub which improved things except still only detecting two miners, connecting the miners via a second powered hub fixed it.

What kind of USB HUB?
You need to find USB hub that use MTT chips. STT chip can't work fine.
There are many cheap powered usb hub that use MTT chips.
674  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Technobit "DICE" 160Ghs Entry miner/blockchain personal lottery device on: December 02, 2014, 01:16:45 AM

Forget using Rpi. You can use TPLINK TL-MR3020 as controller, price about 20 USD. Buy it at your local computer store  Grin

Thanks for the suggestion Smiley  I have been toying with the idea of buying one of these.

I still like the idea of using a Raspberry Pi B+.  I think one could connect 4 of these miners as it has 4 USB ports and I could compile cgminer on it if needed.  I would run tightvnc on it so that I could monitor it remotely.

Perhaps one can do all these things with a TL-MR3020 (except for the 4 USB ports) if flashed with the appropriate firmware but I suspect that the Raspberry Pi's community would help me think of other applications that I could run at the same time.

Rpi + memory card   vs TL-MR3020 + powered usb hub
TL-MR3020 + powered usb hub still win  Cheesy

If you connect 4 miner to Rpi, i bet the load will be high for you to able run other app.
I don't know Rpi+, but the version before + series is a crap.
The hardware share interrupt between USB & ethernet hence make problem with mining sortware.

If you successfully complete 3 terms with 100 quality posts, you will receive a bonus of the following amount.
    Members: BTC0.015
    Full Members: BTC0.030
    Senior Members: BTC0.050
    Hero/Legendary Members: BTC0.050

Small correction. I think it should be "If you successfully complete 3 terms with 50 quality posts" in the case of members. As soon as rules do not allow members to make more than 50 paid posts.

I am not aware of any such rules. If there is I will change the requirement.

carra, i believe the bonus term is not right for Members slot. Members slot maximum post is 50(17 per week), they don't get pay for next 50 post(17 per week).
So will they get the bonus if they reach 100 post?

Think we need to fix the sigs.

They're bit messed up in Opera browser (for every rank).
In firefox, senior sigs don't look as they should.
All looks fine in IE.
Not sure about other browsers.

Don't  worry dude, all is normal in my PC(IE, chrome, firefox) for every rank.
I don't use opera. So it's only on your PC  Cheesy

We will send to the agent some good boards, If you are in what they buy ,please contact to him.

Does this include the group buy from CrazyGuy? I have a prisma that caught on fire 11/10, was sent back and cleared Hong Kong customs 11/18.

I feel sorry dude, but it seem that something spill to the board. Look like coffee residue.

Not sure if your joking or serious but that's the board that was facing down and caught on fire after running a few days at 220mhz in a cool well ventilated space.

My mistake, sorry. The temperature must be very high to cause such burn.

It was about 75f.

Are you sure it's 75 F not 75 C ?
75 F / 24 C is cooler than our body temperature. Did burn come from leaked capacitor then?
Just realize that some of other BE200 been puffed-up. The temperature on BE200 top side must be very high.
