I found out the identity of the generous 2 btc donation for cryptsy votes....it was Crypto trade!

and they have found the problem so they will open for trading again very soon  Grin

That's indeed a very nice step they made. Thanks, crypto-trade!

Come on LETS do together the same as we do @mintpool.

All go to cryptsy and like and add a message to be added!!!

we can do this as a community just like we did before Smiley

- Cryptsy - Tweet to @crypsty to get UTC listed!
Full ack! We have plenty of replies on cryptsy, and i guess if only half the people who posted there took the time to just read that bold printed "don't forget to click like" thingy, we would have exceeded the 300 votes by far, and thus a better price.

So please guys, stop complaining and press that freaking like-button. It's really not that hard.
2284  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Raising BTC to get Mark Karpeles called a bitch liar face to face on: February 24, 2014, 03:54:06 PM
Wouldn't it be cool to start a counter-donation to get all those childish, immature kiddies here bitchslapped?
2285  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Raising BTC to get Mark Karpeles called a bitch liar face to face on: February 24, 2014, 03:43:51 PM
This is stupid.

I totally agree that the behavior of Mt.Gox is totally inappropriate, but imagine you trust in a new technology, open up an exchange and suddenly hundrets of thousands of bitcoins get loaded off on the exchange. How should anyone be able to pay this? Well, this only explains parts of the solvency issues, but i think making cheap propaganda to get others to call him names is childish (and it doesn't matter how often you call it "symbolic").

I'd suggest the OP takes the 0.006ish BTC and buys an ice cream instead of wasting his time on this head bounty bullshit.
2286  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A fraud-proof voting system based on Bitcoin and Zerocoin on: February 24, 2014, 02:45:33 PM
I like the idea itself, although it would be a hell of a task to base a whole election on such a system (meaning setting up the infrastructure and making quite everybody use (prior: understand) it). That would make it extremely difficult, regarding how unflexible countries are as a whole when it comes down to changing things.
And Facebook (or any similar private company) would be the very last thing which i would consider connecting to my votes.
2287  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ASIC-RESISTANT] UltraCoin (UTC) - Newly Launched on: February 24, 2014, 10:50:04 AM
anyone tried building the wallet from source ?

Error in 'src/qt/bitcoin.qrc': Cannot find file 'res/images/splash2.jpg

seems to be missing, along with many other things

ultracoin/src/qt/res/images/about.png

is all that is their

located
ultracoin/src/qt/res/icons/splash2.jpg

not in
/ultracoin/src/qt/res/images/
Same here. I just put a random image from the source code into that folder and named it "splash2.jpg". Then, compiling works.
Not a brilliant solution, as i see this totally non-splashy splash screen now when i start the client, but it works. Maybe this will be fixed in the next commit. Smiley

Can you please stop posting here? You're really an annoying person. I mean, really. Really. Really, really, really annoying. Thanks.

Roughly 90% of all US paper currency has trace amounts of cocaine on it. If you don't want those bills, I'll gladly take them.

How's that even possible? Are they snorting tons of coke at the money printing factories?
Yeah, exactly. That's the test case to see if every bill is good and ready to leave the house ^^
2290  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reward .5 btc for the return of 11 bitcoins stolen from openex on: January 14, 2014, 01:31:29 PM
i clearly underestimated the role of a sysadmin.
It's really a good thing that you see it this way. Nobody is free from errors and the importance is clearly: learning from them. And just to make it clear: my posts really are not about ranting or attacking someone blindly (because that's not productive). I just think it's important to know certain things when running a server. Smiley
2291  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reward .5 btc for the return of 11 bitcoins stolen from openex on: January 14, 2014, 01:22:43 PM
I don't see how these people even get servers running. On tutorial sites I've seen comments such as "do I also type in the eg."

It also bothers me the elite developers keep inventing new crap like nodejs when we haven't learned the simplest of things.
Sorry, but that's nonsense. There's enough people understanding node.js and i can assure you that.
Also, i would consider someone who needs to visit tutorial sites being not in a good position to actually run a server.

Don't get me wrong, but it's not just about stolen Bitcoin, it's also about all those hundreds of thousands of spam machines who are all run by some kids who "can i haz server, pls?", which require me (and others) to constantly setup and finetune spam filters, watch spam folders and crap because they're just not able to secure a machine.
If people want to play, no problem. There's plenty of server software you can run on your local machine to try and test and become a pro one day. But please, keep the internet clean from those sloppily setup machines who bring a hell of an effort if they're being compromised again.

By the way, this is one of the points which literally cry for a regulation!
2292  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reward .5 btc for the return of 11 bitcoins stolen from openex on: January 14, 2014, 08:39:00 AM
* SSH server with root access

* with password auth

* no backups

=> get your coins out of this disaster and fast. The owner has no clue to what he is doing.

it's my first server, doesn't mean i'm incapable of learning i just don't know because i'm not experienced. maybe i'll find someone who is and hire them to teach me how to properly secure the server.
Hello r3wt,

first of all: great that the attacker hasn't moved the BTC yet and you were able to recover them.

But also - and i don't want to sound insulting - if that was really your first server, i would really not run something important on it, especially if it "stores" money of other people.
Meanwhile, i have multiple years of Linux server experience and i'd say i know pretty well what i do. But under no circumstances i would run something myself which could affect others, especially when it comes down to money. And, as others have already said, there were some general failures (no need to repeat them over and over) which should not have happened.

Server administration is nothing to just try and grow with it... learning by doing just cannot be applied here.

Please, for the sake of your users, get an admin whom you trust to handle such stuff. Just installing some kind of "auto-admin-tool" really is not a solution.

Again, i don't want to sound insulting (i really don't). But when it comes down to money, people become very creative.

Why? Because people got used to saying no to premined coins here? I think, if it's transparent (which it seems to be), then it's okay.
2294  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SCRYPT JANE] UltraCoin (UTC) - Newly Launched on: January 14, 2014, 07:32:40 AM
Being paid for your efforts is not a crime
That's just because people tend to think that all work which happens on a computer is more like playing computer games than hard work. I hate this attitude. Just because someone is using his brain instead of a shovel to work does not mean he isn't doing anything.

Bumface, i wish you best luck. From what i read from you in trollbox, i'd say you're a honest guy and i'd like to see this coin succeed. Smiley
2295  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Inputs.io | Instant Payments, Offchain API, Secure Wallet, 235k+ BTC transferred on: November 07, 2013, 04:20:59 PM
Also, unless being a computer forensic expert, "investigating" on one's own on a compromised server is totally irresponsible!

RAM traces are likely gone now, as well as other traces which could lead to the hackers (whether they exist or not).
2296  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Inputs.io | Instant Payments, Offchain API, Secure Wallet, 235k+ BTC transferred on: November 07, 2013, 02:02:22 PM
I'm still quite interested in what happened after the hack. Is there any police report?
I think, BTC worth over 1kk stolen is very well worth calling the police, although it's "only" virtual currency. Other people call the police for a stolen watch...
2297  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Inputs.io | Instant Payments, Offchain API, Secure Wallet, 235k+ BTC transferred on: November 07, 2013, 01:50:12 PM
TradeFortress: what did the police say? Is the server already being investigated?
2298  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Inputs.io Is Gone I'm Calling It A Scam on: November 07, 2013, 12:27:12 PM
TradeFortress:

I hope you make sure that the mail address of the sender is his real address, as anyone can send a mail claiming to be any sender! So, i would insist on at least one reply from the one requesting refunds to make sure nobody else was using his address.
2299  Economy / Services / Re: I Need a Middle Man on: October 15, 2013, 09:39:42 PM
No offense meant. Really.

But, FinShaggy, you must be the first person to use synthetic cannabinoids for research other than "smoking research". Such as nobody's using "Bathing Salts" for bathing.

Again, no offense. But to anyone else, i would really, really avoid ordering such chemicals. I'm a bit into this matter and - legally available or not - there have been cases where people got their homes searched by legal enforcement for just buying such substances.
The thing with those research chemicals is that it's basically a race between designer drug creators and legislation: newly formed drugs become banned, the old ones get modified and in nearly 100% of all cases, it's clear what the purpose of those chemicals is.
And it's almost certain that also the new chemicals will become banned. And i guess nobody wants such a shop busted and his CC number appearing in the database records.

Just to compare: in Germany, there were several search warrants executed for the purchase of GBL - a pretty ordinary solvent which still is legal (at least in Germany) - just because it has abuse potential.
I must admit, i don't know if other countries are as strict as Germany, but i would be careful. And to be honest, i got my problems in believing this research story.
2300  Economy / Auctions / Re: Selling 4 direct AsicMiner shares for 2.5 BTC on: September 02, 2013, 12:17:19 PM
Hi,

I read quite a lot about AsicMiner, but that share-thingy is quite new to me. Can anyone provide some information regarding the eventual outcome of one share (how much is it actually and things like that?)?

Is it still possible to take part in this auction?

If my questions need to be more precise, please let me know.
