601  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: What do you guys think about McxNow FeeShares? on: October 26, 2013, 10:26:31 PM
It's a great way to park your money and earn free interest and also a gain in share price huh?  how many shares you got?  I'm slowly building my collection of shares.

You're in the wrong forum and this post will vanish or move like the langoliers.  Grin

I joined on the 2nd day after official launch. You do get interest every 6 hrs. and altcoins w BTC if you own mcxfee shares.

I haven't had any issues moving BTC in/out of mcxNow (6-8 weeks?) and I love dat interest.  Grin

I had 13, I'm down to 9 shares now due to some good ASIC pre-order deals that came along. It was over 1.1 per share at one point.

I've earned the equiv of 3 milliBTC worth of Litecoin earned from my mcxfee shares. There's a bunch of alt-coins I never even heard of before this that you get for mcxfee dividends. I have no idea what to do with those alt-coins except exchange em to BTC when I have enough to make it worthwhile.

Ima guessing that one day even 3 milliBTC is going to be worth quite a bit in the near future.

I'd probably jump on this one if getting bitcoin out here on short notice weren't nearly impossible.
Where are you? We have from what I can tell the most payment options in any GB.

Central nowhere Canada.

Would that be with or without a side of Sasquatch?  Grin

Ok, snagged 1 share for myself.  No idea if it will ever pay off but what the heck I like the idea Smiley

Nice! Thank you and welcome aboard!

You can't be too insane if you picked this co-op for a GB. That or you're just another Bitcoin Kool Aid drinker like us and we're all mad!  Cheesy

is R10 actually closed or just waiting for people to pay?
Is there a deadline for R10/R11?

Thanks

Hi Etienne,

There is no real deadline on this.

However, these units are now scheduled for shipping today/tomorrow from Black Arrow and expected to be hashing by Wednesday/Thursday. For those that join later, their payouts will be prorated based on how many days they were fully PAID in that mining period.

For example: if they buy their share 7 days into the mining period, they would receive about half of that period's payout per share.

==

We may be offering cloudhashing for this and have plans in the works for pro cloudhashing with other investors and co-ops, completely separate from our at-cost GBs here. If we branch out into cloudhasing this would be operated on a separated site, with full incorporation. It would still be priced to the best values out there in that niche.

So...that is what's going to go on with some of any extra unsold hardware.
604  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNC Jupiter suddenly died. Anybody had similar issue? on: October 26, 2013, 09:53:05 PM
Can you please tell us what firmware version that you're using?

You didn't mention this crucial piece of info. Thanks.
605  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Where are the new Custom Hardware vendors? on: October 26, 2013, 09:17:07 PM

ok so you got this gb for arrows.. 100 shares @ $123 each for 20 boards..

say I buy 20 shares.. that's equivalent to 4 boards.. I can have the 4 boards just sent to me and absolve the GB of any liability etc for my shares?

Sorry, it doesn't work that way. I'm a Group Buy Coordinator (you know: just a vetted miner that has the organizer gene) and not a vendor. It just so happens that this method offers a non-traditional method of fractional ownership at lower risks to a completely non-traditional Custom Hardware product. I don't think any other GBC that also offers hosting offers this particular method of sales either.

I built this co-op so that I *could* get these kinds of deals for other miners and for myself. It allows me (and others) to hedge and spread Custom Hardware bets (besides BTC buy/hold) at wholesale or at-cost deals.

It's priced this way because you're also getting hosting from bobsag3. His hosting fees helps make up the difference for these miners to be sold at this low cost and was part of his decision process in considering whether to offer our co-op this pricing.

Besides: How am I supposed to make my massive 0.25-0.37% commission on BTC mined if I did it this way?   Cheesy [For those wondering: that's my only "profit" from my co-op efforts, besides BTC earned by my own shares in most of our Rounds.]

==

BTW, I'd like to add that bitterdog is the reason why my GB Escrow Coordinator Services has the "Coordinator" Title as opposed to "Agent" title. He probably kept me out of a heap of legal troubles and a mountain of paperwork.

I tried to tip him but he adamantly refused. He's a good guy, IMHO.
606  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Where are the new Custom Hardware vendors? on: October 26, 2013, 08:30:43 PM
I believe that I mentioned that these Black Arrow Bullet Run boards were available for sale outside the co-op, but I wasn't involved with that. If someone wants to run the miners themselves they can buy them outright at higher prices.

As a co-op with greater numbers/buying power we get access to Institutional Pricing & Exclusives outside the range of normal deals. We even get approached for at-cost and below-cost miner buyout offers from members, which has happened in 3 rounds. It's just a fact of the world that buying concerns with more purchasing power always get better deals. However, deals like these don't normally just fall in our lap, I'm actively always looking for the best deals for miners out there.

I think this is the perfect place to mention this GB as it's the least expensive/best value access to custom hardware that will be "on the shelf" in Missouri by Wed/Thursday, which is what we miners have been complaining about for so long. This isn't the first time a GB has bled over to the CH forum as they're often interrelated and you sometimes see GBs or GB-type listings posted outright by others on this CH forum.

Here's a couple examples of entire threads that probably belonged in the GB forum alongside Canary, SSB, and company: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=309918.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=292433.0

If someone wants to buy boards elsewhere and run them themselves, they also have that option.

Options are good! Our co-op option is the no muss/no fuss option at smaller price points then manufacturers can typically offer customers, which is why we've also gotten support from various mfgs. that we work with.
607  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: List of all DyslexicZombei at-cost/below-cost Miners Cooperative Group Buys on: October 26, 2013, 08:24:20 PM
Thank you for the kind words Phillip. And thank you for your contributions/insights into making this co-op better for all of us. I received this message last night and copy/pasted this from the R5 thread:

I just got a msg. from bobsag3. He received boxes and boxes from NY.

The exact quote was "so many boxes..."   Grin

Thank you Philip! For those that don't know: he gave the co-op a really, really good UPS deal.

He sold me $1100+ worth of UPS/Batteries + he threw in an extra $109 worth of extra batteries for only $525. These funds were mostly mine (I had also forgotten to add UPS protection to our at-cost R2 and R2B, but since that was my mistake, I paid for that out of pocket). Some of its also came from remnants of leftover funds from early GBs after R1.

Philip, who is also our backup local miner host for R1 in NY, also took the time to wrap and ship those boxes and boxes for the co-op, so he deserves a big thank you from the rest of the co-op IMO. You're a good man. Cheers!
608  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: VER 2.0, Introducing DZ Escrow *Coordinator* Services for Group Buyers & Sellers on: October 26, 2013, 08:21:44 PM
I've recently completed the vetting of my 10th vetted GB Coordinator and/or Miner Host.

This person approached us via our website and actually does not have a forum account here yet. He's a veteran of the oil/gas industry and is the VP of his own small oil company in Texas. He's passed my stringent vetting process and appears to be a well intentioned Group Buy Coordinator.

Thank you and welcome aboard! We're currently in discussions for much bigger plans that go beyond/outside of what our co-op has done so far. Hopefully, we'll have some news on that end in the near future, as well.

In for 5 shares, order #338 and paid. THanks!

Hi Nick,

Thank you and welcome aboard!

Please keep in mind that we run our co-op a bit differently in that we vote on important matters and we vote before the 5 month mark to see if the majority of the Round's owners want to sell the miner as used online, or in-person, since much of the annual mining output (90%+) should likely be produced by then.*

We then split the resale proceeds based on one's proportion of ownership of that Round's miner, in order to help recoup investment costs.

Im more than happy to answer any questions or concerns, as is zombie. We try not to have too much of a life outside the forums Smiley
One quick question, is the $123/share price tied to the exchange rate or fixed? I guess I probably should post this in an appropriate thread but oh well O:)

The share price is fixed as far as USD but volatile as far as BTC. This helps protect our GBs from BTC's day to day volatility (when miners are priced in USD) and also allows people to time any BTC buys to their best advantage. The exchange rate we use is Bitstamp, as every mfg. we've ordered from so far has used this rate.

Here's the Round 11 payment post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=315952.msg3384287#msg3384287
611  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Where are the new Custom Hardware vendors? on: October 26, 2013, 07:11:49 PM
I was just replying to the question.

He was looking for a new Custom Hardware vendor, and we have one in our midst: a miner just like us that put his money where his mouth is and paid to get 15TH/s made to be delivered sooner, rather than later.

These are always at-cost or even below-cost deals I structure for GBs. I don't make a single satoshi from immediate GB share sales as the extra funds go into UPS protection and co-op facility improvements. I'm trying to pool buying power so us little guys can get Institutional Pricing and exclusive deals like this.

I was once scammed by ASX Project (see the #4 sidebar FAQ at: http://www.reddit.com/r/bitcoinmining ) and I fell for BFL's BS when I was a noob. I'm here to help others have better experiences than I did when I started.

For me: personally, I eventually receive 0.25-0.37% of the 2.75% hosting/management fees once the miners arrive and are running, for coordinating all this and running the co-op. I would definitely say that is a very modest fee for the value of my work. I actually have no skin in these particular Rounds myself as far as shares but that's just because I have so many pre-orders in already, all over the place.
612  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Where are the new Custom Hardware vendors? on: October 26, 2013, 06:58:18 PM
For those looking to buy hardware off the shelf, Black Arrow was contracted to do a Bullet Run by bobsag3 and a custom hardware mfg. that sells his miners on the GB forum. bobsag3 is the exclusive official US Reseller for Black Arrow and has put a lot of money down to get hardware in miners hands sooner rather than later.

I was offered exclusive pricing on this by bobsag3, a DZ MC co-op member/leader/admin/vetted miner host and GB Coordinator.

BA is guaranteeing shipping by November 1 or we get our money back.
Thomas S. and I are holding onto the GB funds to make sure that refund funds are available, if necessary. In fact, we have an update from the factory that they expect to be shipping tomorrow night and bobsag3 expects delivery in Missouri by Wednesday/Thursday. If they fail to meet this Nov. 1 deadline we all get refunds but get to keep the hashrate.  Smiley  Smiley

These boards will be considered to be on the shelf and available for immediate sale/shipping by Wednesday/Thursday. I should have some more recent pictures to share on this shortly.

===

I'm offering fractional ownership of these boards to be hosted at a pro colo facility by bobsag3. There is also a sales outlet if you just wanted to buy boards outright, but I'm not involved with that deal.

I'm just the GB Coordinator for this deal and I'm truly hardware neutral as a longtime IT vet (except for BFL/Avalon; they're permabanned from our co-op). I'm not officially affiliated with BA, but they have stopped by to confirm that they're working with bobsag3.

To summarize: 15TH/s Black Arrow Bullet Run with Bitfury chips now instead of BA Minion chips in February.

$123 = 8.34 - 10GH/s + 1 month free hosting in Missouri + World's Lowest Hosting/Management fees at 2.75% every 2 weeks + UPS / Gas Generator backup protection + 3 remote admins + 1 local admin (all IT pros, including 2 Network Engineers and an EE) + custom built cabinet with extra Air Conditioner just for our co-op. This facility was designed by bosag3 and myself, a pro network engineer who's designed 4 different Research Lab server rooms.

Miners guaranteed to be shipping by November 1 or your money/BTC back.

Please see the 11th GB link in my sig for more details.

https://blockchain.info/address/13fGQGmb6Xi576ppJTkeXk34yDDRmvxjm4   this is  7.07 btc  this is the " bad" miner group buy    5

running total is .04 btc apart  and Like I said I donated   109 usd or .52 btc worth of extra batteries.  so for the next 2 weeks lets not sweat the small stuff.
Both rigs are divided 50/50 R5/R6.

so it is not like r5 gets over and r6 gets screwed.  it is share and share alike.   so then there is no difference in either group just the overall hashing which means the 30gh "lost"  is 15 gh a group even less to worry about.

I think it's strange that in their own official thread we haven't seen a peep out of them for 23 days and their official account hasn't been logged into for 15 days.

You're  telling me you're going to spend all that time and effort to launch a company and then just abandon all marketing/communications on the premier English speaking Bitcoin miners forum after only 11 days?

This doesn't make marketing or business sense. We miners use these forums to vet mfgs. all the time, and I know for a fact that 5-6 figure deals get made due to results of the feedback and research done on these forums.

Also: no answer as to whether any company owners/managers are willing to be vetted by John K. either.

I like your style so I just ordered 2 shares to test the waters, order #332.

Thanks aigeezer! Welcome aboard!

This co-op only runs smoothly because we share the work load and let the best person handle the job for whatever task is at hand. There is no way that this co-op would be where it is today without thomas_s, bobsag3, -Redacted-, jungle_dave, firsttimeuser, philipma1957, mootinator, and unknown.usr, so essentially: you like our style.  Smiley

I'll update numbers further for R8/R11 when I get back home tonight.

Im interested. I will read more when I have a few minutes, but I love the idea.

It looks like your need for bare boards, anything bitfurry based would be your best bet, with small sinks on each chip to aid in surface area.

Oh, we're definitely interested all right.

Our test subject will probably be an old Gen1 Avalon. We're going to shoot for 1GH/s for fun if we test this out.  Cheesy

I'm assuming the heatsinks from their drawings will be shipped separately so as not to damage the boards enroute.
619  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [CLOSED]R5: KnC Jupiter, BELOW-COST + Host! Hashing in Missouri! $78 + Bonuses! on: October 24, 2013, 08:01:07 AM
I've been in the line of work of Test & Evaluation and R&D for 10 years at mostly low TRL numbers, and I can tell you that these miners are all essentially prototypes.

There was no long term testing so it's natural to have variability in chip yield and board performance. Firmware and software are still in a huge state of flux.

It sucks, but that's the kinds of risks we all take going in. IIRC, Jupiters were sold as 400GH/s units so looking at it from a glass half full perspective would probably be more realistic. In this case as we're talking about the world's first 28nm chips in a super short time frame to get to market, bumps and weirdness along the way are to be expected.
