Yes, $146 now at MtGox. We will see $200 by the end of the year

Let's try this again ...
May I suggest a donation mining option for cgminer?

Because..., it was such a huge success the last time it was tried?
1844  Other / Off-topic / Re: Which operating system(s) do you use? on: October 13, 2013, 07:15:56 PM
Windows 7 and Linux Mint. They just work without dramas, and get out of the way.
1845  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: POLL - Why are you mining? on: October 13, 2013, 03:41:30 PM
For both fun and profit. I discovered bitcoin when I was looking into upgrading my graphics card (for gaming). I was leaning towards NVidia back then

I ended up buying a 7870 XT that was decent for SHA256 but terrible for scrypt. Lucky Roll Eyes

I since bought a used 6950 for 80€ that already paid for itself.
1846  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Wow Mining hashrate just broke 2 PH/s according to Blockchain.info on: October 13, 2013, 03:13:40 PM
This reminds me of the day when I was *this* close to pre-order a Japaleno
1847  Economy / Services / Re: 0.2btc to verify yourself in BitStamp Account for me on: October 13, 2013, 02:21:06 AM
How can one be sure to withdraw the 3 BTC after uploading the scans? They can come up with more BS.
1848  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: GPU mining: is any particular intensity more power efficient? on: October 13, 2013, 02:04:45 AM
What leads me to HW errors are certain combinations of intensity and thread-concurrency. So I suppose, I=20 is fine for some and not for others
1849  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Gigabyte WF3 7950 on: October 13, 2013, 01:53:07 AM
Thermaltake 850w, no powered riser on this one, there is only one more 7950 currenty in the mobo so power should be sufficent.
Thermaltake is a terrible, terrible brand.
1850  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Gigabyte WF3 7950 on: October 13, 2013, 01:51:31 AM
My advice is to not run these cards above 1000 mV
This is a damn fine advice. I'm running my cards at 950
1851  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Radeon 7950 Causing Beep Codes on: October 13, 2013, 01:33:43 AM
You must connect 2 pci-e power cables to your card and make sure the PSU can handle the load, i.e. enough amps on the 12V line.
1852  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Just purchased 18 block erupters Buyers remorse... on: October 13, 2013, 01:31:10 AM
6Gh/s for $200 isn't terrible when compared with some deals I see being made, not even talking about pre-orders. You'll break even in a few months.
1853  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Solo Mine as last backup on: October 13, 2013, 01:16:23 AM
You mean, the last option of a failover setup?

I have the impression that if you use cgminer and load-balance with a pool (use a small quota), that actually helps your solo mining, being helped by a connection via stratum. cgminer gets vital information and learns quickly when a new block was detected.

1854  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Nvidia GTX 650 Ti very low hashing rates why? on: October 13, 2013, 01:07:49 AM
It's probably because from the serie 5 onwards, Nvidia "focused on gaming", or in other words abandoned some instructions that are important for mining, or crippled the card.

This benchmark also shows a serie 5 card much faster than the 6:

1855  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Switched GPU to litecoin mining; issues with rejects/stales defeating hash inc. on: October 12, 2013, 11:59:24 PM
Yes, try another pool, or even another coin. Go to https://www.multipool.us and experiment with LTC, CGB, WDC or FTC coins. Pick the EU or US server according to your location

Then check https://litecoin.info/Mining_hardware_comparison and see what hash rate you should be getting with your card(s).

Make sure you're using the "scrypt" parameter on your config file, also look at "thread-concurrency" and intensity (see good parameters on the previous link for your card), otherwise the gpu may be generating garbage.
1856  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: October 12, 2013, 10:55:05 PM
Nice tweaking there, Rhovac  Smiley I just downloaded that .bin and I'm also getting a few more Kh/s!
1857  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: AMD R9 290X? on: October 12, 2013, 10:18:49 PM
Set "thread-concurrency" to 24000 or so.

See https://litecoin.info/Mining_hardware_comparison and look at the parameters used to take 7970's to higher hash rates. You should get 700+ Kh/s out of your card.

1860  Economy / Services / Re: Need Lessons from experienced data miner! on: October 12, 2013, 11:08:55 AM
I was an experienced data miner a few years ago. I used the SAS system to do such.
