201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Altcoin Correlation on: February 10, 2018, 11:10:06 PM
I had thought a while back people said if you are betting on altcoins, you are essentially betting against bitcoin.  However how is this even the case or is this statement wrong?  Because when bitcoin goes up, the altcoins basically all go up.  If bitcoin goes down, all altcoins basically go down.  Aren't they essentially correlated?

So let say you believe in bitcoin and buy bitcoin because you believe value will go up.  Well if you buy altcoins, isn't it very likely if bitcoin goes up, then your altcoin will also go up?  The only difference basically comes down to do you think that altcoin will grow a higher percentage than the bitcoin?  Thus thats the only question you should ask before you convert btc to altcoin?

Because if bitcoin fails, well aren't all altcoins going to fail?  And if bitcoin goes up etc, well then isn't almost all the altcoins going to go up?  The thing that i want to ask is also this.  If btc goes up, then aren't essentially any altcoin let just say in the top 30 altcoin list going to basically go up?  Thus some go up more than others etc?  Because people say to buy this altcoin such as say dash or monero or iota.  However, if btc goes up, does it even really matter?  I watched a video where someone mentioned in a bull market, everyone thinks they are a genius.  Well if its a bull market, does it even matter which coin you really buy?  Like if you were told bitcoin will go up today, well does it matter if you buy iota or deeponion or monero?  Because bitcoin basically controls the entire crytocurrency market right?  And is it even possible for bitcoin to do really bad and the altcoins go up a lot?  Or if bitcoin goes up a lot and altcoins go down?  Because i dont think i seen any graphs or charts like this.  Basically everything follows bitcoin.  So its basically saying... if you believe in bitcoin and it will go up, well you can buy bitcoin and hold it or just buy altcoins since it will also go up.  Its like does the projects of each of these coins even matter anymore?  Literally everything goes up on the list.  Its like what research do you even need to do.  Like if you were told okay bitcoin will go up a lot today, well you could just randomly buy 10 different altcoins in the top 50 even and almost all will go up right?  Because my issue with the crytocurrencies is basically bitcoin seems to determine everything.  Why isn't it like bitcoin goes up a decent amount, and say 1/2 the altcoins do decent and 1/2 the altcoins do bad etc.  Like to hear all your feedback on this.
I've had the same post about the correlation of bitcoin and altcoins. Well as we all know most of the alt coins are also derived from bitcoin. What i think is that in order for a certain altcoin to have value an the existing value of bitcoin must be utilized so that the flow of currency will be balanced. About the trade and how each of the altcoins follow BTC, well simply becuase these coins are derived from btc and inorder for us to convert it to any conventional currency it must go through btc.
Many coins have various uses that can either keep Bitcoin stay afloat or it could damage the credibility of Bitcoin. I would only invest in coins that help Bitcoin stay afloat.
202  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin or NEO - which on to buy in February 2018 on: February 10, 2018, 11:09:00 PM
I would like your opinion guys, to invest in Litecoin or Neo?
Litecoin is going to be worth more when Bitcoin gets a higher price. If Neo keeps getting people from Asia investing in it and not anywhere else then it will just stay the same or dump.
203  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: why all coins are dropping? on: February 10, 2018, 11:06:32 PM
I guess the reason was lunar new year of China and other Asia countries. All people withdraw money from their coins for their holiday.
People are saying China this and China that, how is it that everyone in China will sell Bitcoin at one time? Don't be ridiculous.
204  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH v NEO on: February 10, 2018, 07:13:51 PM

NEO is backed by the Chinese government. This has become the most important factor for NEO’s popularity in China, making it China’s first open-source public blockchain project. NEO is also backed by WINGS, Alibaba, and various Microsoft-like giants.
NEO is backed by the Chinese Governments? I didn't know that.
If it is then that coin should be way larger than Ethereum.
205  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Cryptocurrency or ICO dont allow purchasing from credit or debit card ? on: February 10, 2018, 07:12:09 PM
Hello,

Hope you all are doing great, I know crypto is there to eliminate banks etc but why ICO dont allow purchasing through credit or debit card, if we eliminate the factor of charge back etc like simplex provide at bitstamp ?

Lets say I am launching my Proof of Stake coin , where I allow people to buy coins using their credit or debit card and I get Fiat currency, later when these people will take coins on a Exchange will that have any effect that this coin was not sold using ETH or BITCOIN ?
It would feel really weird for me to use Fiat to purchase a coin that is against fiat. I may just be overthinking it.
206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins that will make you RICH in 2018! on: February 09, 2018, 10:52:40 PM
Arcblock

Ethereum

Waves

Monaco
Waves and Ethereum could be the top two coins that will fight for being the most profitable coin.
207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When do you know its time to sell your altcoins? on: February 09, 2018, 10:52:03 PM
i sell my altcoin if i got a little bit of earning for the short term income but if it long term i will wait for it to double the price when i buy it so i can sure that i can maximize the profits  i get
Having a goal will give the investor a larger chance of getting his money at the end of a trade. Take note on that guys.
208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it Ripple buy time? on: February 08, 2018, 11:55:56 PM
Ripple is my long term holding..
I think it can be easely $10
It could be a long time for you to make any more coins from that, Ripple is getting pumped and dumped pretty hard this year (2018).
209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 60k$ to invest. on: February 08, 2018, 11:55:02 PM
Diversify. Diversify. Diversify.

I'm buying the top ten coins on coinmarketcap, in their respective market cap weighting. Do this too, unless you think you know more than the crypto market on average.
I would have to do the same thing as that, diversifying the investment is what's going to feel less stress on your current trades.
210  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New ICO with great potencial on: January 28, 2018, 08:43:10 PM
Today monetizecoin ICOs:

Round 7 of ICO start Jan 28nd 11:00 ($0.97) - sold
Round 8 of ICO start Jan 28nd 17:00 ($1.07) - sold
Round 9 of ICO start Jan 28nd 23:00 ($1.17)
After you get enough money what are you going to do with it? It's pretty clear that the project made enough already.
211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Most overvalued coin? on: January 28, 2018, 07:53:03 PM
For me it would be Ripple and TRX.
Ripple and Tron is one of the most popular coins with the most hate going towards it because it's overvalued.
212  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should I invest in cryptocurrency and ICOs? on: January 28, 2018, 07:52:10 PM
As for me i prefer to invest in cryptocurrency which already listed than ICO. it is more safaty and good chance to avoid scam in the beginning
That's a safer thing to do since the price of the ICO is not going to be at the same price of what the ICO is sold for when it gets listed.
213  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Have you raised money on ICO? on: January 26, 2018, 01:53:15 AM
Do you an experience of investing in ICO? Was it a good experience? Have you raised anything?
I've joined an ICO before that I think that it didn't make me any money. I am not good with investing in ICO coins.
214  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you trust XLM stellar lumens? on: January 26, 2018, 01:45:40 AM
I wonder if xlm has the potenciel to gain value?
I would like to know your opinion

thanks.
I won't trust Stellar even if I had money invested in it. The price for Stellar can go up with time though.
215  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: effect of unsold coins of ICO in burn on: January 25, 2018, 01:30:31 PM
Yes indeed you are right, when a coin is burned the price grows, and when the unsold coins are sold, the price falls.
Projects with coins getting burned can still be worth the same price if there is no buyers around.
216  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Careful out there... on: January 25, 2018, 01:28:15 PM
I just read a White Paper. It is selling 1 million tokens at, roughly 2 USD each. This would look like a nice company to put your money into, as it has a small cap.

But there is a catch, the guy has created 1 BILLION tokens, so this means that the value of the tokens he´s set is 2 BILLION  Grin Grin

Frankly, nowadays you have to read carefully even when looking for bounty out there  Roll Eyes

Can you share which ICO this was for? So other people don't fall for it.

Frankly not enough people do their research, let alone read the whitepapers.
It should not matter what the ICO was, since any coin that has those kind of specs will be known as a sham.
217  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Best ICO in January thru March on: January 25, 2018, 01:25:07 PM
The best ico of January is: (based on my personal judgment) crypterium, RED, ArcBlock, and BABB. all have potential with various concepts on offer, ranging from banking, energy, and blockhain service
I've looked at BABB, that one looks pretty good. The only thing wrong with it is the hardcap is too little.
218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTC down, Market dump. Is this time to buy? on: January 21, 2018, 08:10:58 PM
Yes, buy on lows, sell on highs (if you have to). Better keep the coins for months/years. The value will always go up and down
If he has the money to purchase the coins during the low then that is what he should do. He should also hold the coins that he has.
219  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO Bonuses and Discounts, why it is not a good practice on: January 20, 2018, 08:52:26 PM
When we started working on our ICO we had to consider if we should offer discounts, which a lot of ICO's do. We came to the conclusion that discounts and bonuses are a thin line away from fraud. In fact, projects offering volume bonuses are probably all scams, projects with massive discounts are not as easy to classify. I dont expect this to be a popular statement, but there is something really wrong with ICO's these days, they are getting more and more desparate.

I will break this down into the two main concernes:

Early supporters receive a discounts, so they clearly see this as what it is, a discount.
The majority of the supporters come later, and get no discounts. They received a penalty.
What business would penalize their biggest contributor? No real business for sure.

----------------

You have a project, its worth xx ETH/BTC/USD - whatever you used as a valuation model.
Then you decide that the first day it is worth 50% less of what you originally mean its worth.
The next day it is worth 30% less.
Then 20% less.
You get the idea

But the reality in the real world is the other way around. For some strange and unknown reason your project went up significantly in value from day one to day two. The same happened the next day, and the next day. For no reason your project are being prices higher and higher, the idea is the same, you havent launched any business during these days. In fact, you havent written a single line of code, and your project is going up in value. Why? Because there are no discount models in normal markets, you set a valuation on a business, this does not change from one day to another when there is no trading. A stock market on the other hand will vary in price from one day to another, the same goes for crypto exchanges. But no business, or project, can set a variable valuation. The world does not work this way.

The sad reality is that discounts and bonuses will probably be one of the reasons ICO's will become heavly regulated, and it will happen a lot sooner than we think. So the greed and close to fraud alike ways some of these ICO's raise money will eventually kill this marketplace. I cannot be the only one who see this?

I wrote a article on this, if you are interested:
https://medium.com/@mogico/why-ico-bonuses-and-discounts-have-a-negative-effect-on-the-ico-market-7b6324545c77

The amount of Ethereum is not what matters, the price of the coin during the investment date and the release date is what matters most.
You have get the concept.
220  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 2018 seems like a good year for ALTCOIN on: January 20, 2018, 08:51:47 PM
2017 was very good for altcoins, I hope this year continue to progress, but also fraud is booming, so be careful what you will choose to invest, because every day launches an altcoin.
Most coins are looking like they are doing well because people were purchasing it while Bitcoin went up.
