Aside from occasional shameless self promotion , he's a really trustworthy guy Wink

G2A doesn't hold much for a steam user , as far as I can see, most prices are much higher than prices you see during steam sales.

The steam gift cards seem like a great place to start. I'm pretty sure a lot of Bitcoin users will be interested in it during the Winter/Summer Sales. The 15$ CD key seems rather cheap at 14.75$ currently , it would be great to see how much you can offer on it.
702  Other / Meta / Re: User name OnlyHere4Coin, Someone stolen my account! on: August 04, 2014, 02:35:05 PM
Yes, user OnlyHere4Coin stole a 300 mp from me yesterday.

It just seems all too convientient that this person is now claiming an account hack.

Mods, is it possible to compare IPs between these users?

Only theymos has the power to do so and he is reluctant to do that , will only do so if absolutely necessary.

Current policy is to release IPs only in response to a court order or a reasonable police request.

The aforementioned "stolen" account has no real trust and no activity at all.
All the DefaultTrust-trusted positive trust ratings are actually 0 BTC risked (he went first both times)

Dealing with this account without an escrow was a mistake from the beginning.
703  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When is a smaller block time worse ? on: July 30, 2014, 08:37:57 AM
My understanding is that shorter block time increases orphans but I'm not sure that actually is true.

Yes, bitcoins block time is too long - but it also was the first of the first, not all parameters are going to be perfect on the first of the first.

To be honest I'm impressed at just how good it really is. The long block time is not a fatal flaw.

I was thinking that the developers would have put thought into it , and aimed it for the best possible block length for global adoption.

So , my question was why didn't they go lower ?

To reduce orphans makes sense , but I'm not sure how much of an effect this has.
704  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / When is a smaller block time worse ? on: July 30, 2014, 08:26:08 AM
With Litecoin at 2.5 minutes and Dogecoin at 1 minute , they seem faster to confirm as compared to Bitcoin's 10 minutes.
This is one of the few features for which Altcoin enthusiasts claim superiority over Bitcoin.

Are there any side-effects to having a lower average block time ?
What if Bitcoin was suddenly hard-forked to have a 5 minute block time , with instantaneously halved reward ?
Would there be any negative effects ?

Does this mean that altcoins with a lower block time are inherently superior to Bitcoin ?
Then at what point does it become a bad idea to reduce block time further ? 30 seconds ? 15 seconds ? 5 seconds ?

None of those links are usable.
Fix them , as I cannot access any of the images.

Don't bump again without deleting the previous bump (As per=https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3629.msg5541656#msg5541656 Marketplace rules.)

On-topic, do you sell Steam Wallet funds for Bitcoin ?
Can you obtain games on request ?
707  Economy / Services / Re: Cloudbet Signature Campaign – up to 0.12 BTC per month for 50 posts on: July 29, 2014, 12:50:08 PM
I have completed over 50 constructive posts.
I shall continue posting , but may remain inactive around the time of payments.

I would like to reaffirm my address as : 1FRkoJDy8CwZ84RSeMs2tCEKBdVfHu32Ra
I would like to reserve a space in the signature campaign for next month too , if it is possible.

Thanks,
Jambola2.

What about Anonymity ?
What if I want to make a new coin but don't want to link it to me ? It is an open source project , so I don't see why I need to be its flagbearer.

Just like in the Lending or Gambling section (ahem , Ponzi section) , you need to think before you blindly invest in something.
Stopping people from anonymously posting new coins just because you are butthurt from a bad investment is a bad idea.

710  Other / Meta / Re: Stop quote pyramids ? on: July 29, 2014, 07:59:09 AM
I like the way bitcointa.lk handles them and they're collapsible / you have to 'click to expand'. I think something similar should be employed here.

https://bitcointa.lk/threads/will-satoshi-nakamoto-be-worlds-first-trillionaire.342898/#post-7556506

Wait , I didn't know that that forum was that awesome till now Shocked

I'll probably use bitcointa.lk from now on Smiley
711  Other / Meta / Stop quote pyramids ? on: July 28, 2014, 02:34:26 PM
It would be great if some way was found by which quote pyramids could be prevented.

1- Stop images from being quoted , possibly replace them with *removed image*

2- Put a cap to amount of quotes in a single messages , possibly configurable by the viewing user.
This would only apply to nested quotes

EG :-

Quote
Quote
Quote
This
shouldn't
happen

If it was limited to two :-

Quote
Quote
shouldn't
happen

But , this would not be affected :-

Quote
This
Quote
Would
Quote
Still
Quote
Work

How does this idea sound , are there any obvious technical limitations and is this worthy enough to be a part of the update list for the New Forum Software ?
712  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: Selling Bitcointalk Accounts 40% sale with proof of legit ownership. on: July 28, 2014, 02:12:15 PM
Just wondering, but how much would an account like mine be worth?

Date Registered: December 27, 2013, Posts: 208, Activity: 154, Position: Full Member

Your account worth is around 0.1-0.15 maximum.

So someone gonna buy it?..

hmmmm....

You could send a PM with your Bitcoin address , then sell someone the account and an email address.
When they try to use the account , feeling safe because they own the associated email address , you can simply PM theymos , reset the email address and finally use that to change the password.

If you have proper trust and a reputation for selling accounts , you could consider it.
713  Other / Meta / Re: Forum treasurer who passed away on: July 28, 2014, 02:04:14 PM
How would you recover the funds ?
I don't see how contacting his family would work much , as I don't believe that they would know how to recover his wallet.
I'd assume it would be extremely well protected.....

Wouldn't it be beneficial to employ an "X of Y" system by which the the funds of each treasurer would be recoverable by the trustees ?

714  Economy / Economics / Re: Anybody using online tax filling sites? on: July 27, 2014, 12:09:35 PM
snapcard.com was awesome for this before it shut down "temporarily"
They used to pay your taxes and accept payment for it in Bitcoin !

I really hope they come back online soon as that seems to be a very useful utility.
715  Other / Meta / Re: Neg trust? on: July 27, 2014, 12:04:17 PM
Hey guys some user that rages for I dont know what reason decide to put me a bad rating saying it was a risk of 20 btc. I have never trades on bitcoin talk. How can this be removed?
It cannot be removed, however if the person sending the neg trust is not on the default trust list then most people will never see it because non-default trust is hidden by default (for good reason).

I think people tend to look at untrusted feedback when entering into any sort of transaction. You'd hope that people would be reasonable about this sort thing, considering how the trust system is set up.... but to be honest, the trust system deters me from leaving negative trust for anyone for this very reason.

The person who put the trust has a negative reputation himself as well as having a tonne of other spammy trust ratings.
I'm pretty sure any trader will not be hindered by this reputation , as it is obviously fake.
716  Economy / Gambling / Re: VIVA LAS VEGAS ! Last call for Jackpot ! Become a millionaire ! on: July 27, 2014, 11:56:24 AM
Who cares about the house edges Huh. This is gambling for millions in Vegas and not on a tiny little btc dice clone, or clone of clone.

Sure, play dice if you are happy with that.  Smiley

We will have a better chance of winning if we go to PrimeDice or any other generic site and choose "under 0.01" or "over 99.99"
You will get a 9900x win , so if you bet the 0.01 you would give here , you could get 99 BTC (60,000$)

As of 2013 , the "Megabucks" slots machines with the largest payouts had around 12.5% house edge.
Multiply that by the 6% you are taking , you end up with a whopping 16% house edge in total.

You are mostly gambling on our dime. I feel that you are trustworthy (won't scam if you win big) , but the house edge is way too high , making the chances of us winning anything abysmal.
717  Other / Meta / Re: TIL Activity does not work on precisely 2 week intervals + interval timings on: July 27, 2014, 11:46:07 AM
People might say that activity doesn't matter, but honestly though I'd love if the forum software was more flawless in general. I hope the upcoming software is going to fix problems and the devs listen people's requests.

The forum staff listen to all the concerns , and I don't really see any huge problems in the way of a fully functional site.
If you see any obvious flaws , that you would like to be fixed , make a post in the new forum software subforum.
718  Other / Meta / Re: TIL Activity does not work on precisely 2 week intervals + interval timings on: July 26, 2014, 05:46:52 PM
It takes up to thirty minutes to update. You can post on the exact day or anytime in the two week period to get your points, though make sure the new period has actually started with the times in the op.
How long does it take for your forum ranking to update after your activity has risen to the appropriate level?

See the bolded. It updates with your activity.

Let's add all this to the OP , so we don't have more users asking this over and over again. Smiley

Illegal use of Bitcoin effecting its value?
I think you mean affecting

I believe that Silk road started out the initial interest in Bitcoin , but now it is harmful , as everytime something like this falls , it causes a media shitstorm against Bitcoin.
We need to convince small businesses to start accepting Bitcoin and making them believe that it is a currency for drug abusers and mobs is not a good way to start.

720  Economy / Services / Re: 35k Doge for a little bit of HTML fixing! on: July 26, 2014, 05:34:32 PM
Please lock the thread when you have completed your transaction , to prevent people from erroneously trying to join it.
Secondly, this belonged in the Altcoin Marketplace , please ensure your dogecoin related trades are there next time onwards.
