Isn't soylent made of people?

Yeah in fact I've already applied for it. My body will be transformed into powder food within 6 months.

Other than jokes , I think there would be serious side effects.
There is a small chance this may be the future of food , but a much larger chance that a deadly side-effect is lurking around the corner.
I'd suggest that you don't use it, until full tests of it are done as a permanent food source.

The blog is pretty awesome though , a Bitcoin transaction handshake sounds awesome too.

Even in the aforementioned post , the blog author says :-
Quote
but this day I ran 3.14 miles non-stop. This is an irrational improvement.

The blog seems like an awesome place for revolutionary ideas , and I'd encourage you all to beta test a new software. Just not when it comes to food and the 'device' is your irreparable body
1042  Economy / Services / Re: I'll get my 13 year old son to sing any song for BTC on: June 03, 2014, 02:25:15 AM
Hehe I want some money for some new PS4 game I wanted. My mom has bought me more than 4 in the past 2 months, and she says they are quite expensive. She told me that I have to get the money myself if I want it. And I came up with this idea, I will sing any song you want me to, and I'll do this until I have enough. Literally any song, and all I need to know is how it goes and a copy of the lyrics. I wouldn't say I'm a great singer Tongue, but at the very least it would be really funny.

You ARE free to post it on YouTube for a little extra.

One song: $15 BTC

Two songs: $25 BTC

YouTube Permission: $5 extra

Goal: $60 or $70 I have to decide.

Also if you want to donate some extra coins just ask me.

Fixed.

EDIT : Nobody seemed to notice what edit I had made D:
Boldened for effect Tongue
1043  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Free & Equal = Anchor Loses It, Speaks Brutal Truth On MSM on: June 03, 2014, 02:15:07 AM
So we can all agree he has the courage to go out there and expose both parties, but he isn't really making that much sense.
Maybe I don't quite understand the context, but it seems like he's just taking out his frustration.
All he basically said was that the entire political and economic system is corrupt and incompetent.
1044  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Couldn't the gov't buy up some DRK masternodes? on: June 02, 2014, 06:27:53 PM
I think there would be some proper explanation , but this theory gives rise to soooo many possible conspiracy theories.

What if DRK was set up by the government so that they could monitor our transactions while giving us the false sense of security.

What if DRK is meant to supercede Bitcoin and return control back to the government ?

.... we really need a conspiracies subforum.
1045  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Sudanese Muslim woman sentenced to death for Christian conversion on: June 02, 2014, 06:13:58 PM
^^^ This is what I had posted earlier. Her lawyers were also hinting at that possibility. Once the international attention is diverted, they will imprison her again and resume torturing her.

Hopefully not.
With the kind of international attention this case has attracted, I doubt they'd be able to keep her imprisoned for long. Unlike previous cases involving Christian missionaries preaching, Sudan is really under pressure this time.
1046  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Gift cards with paypal , a possible solution to chargebacks ? on: June 02, 2014, 06:06:56 PM
Couldn't you just buy a gift card with paypal and then sell it for BTC ?
This could possibly need an escrow , but would stop chargebacks in the long term.

Steam gift cards seem like a likely winner , I can find quite a few websites selling for paypal with no additional fees (http://www.pcgamesupply.com/buy/Steam-Gift-Card-20/)

They are pretty high in demand , as steam wallet credit is nearly impossible to get for Bitcoin.

Any possible downsides ? If not , this may solve paypal chargeback solutions for quite some time , atleast if the seller wants to buy under 1 BTC.

If the gift card was purchased with Paypal, the Paypal user could report the gift card purchase as fraudulent in the first place. So it isn't safe for the user paying BTC.

We would be buying this gift card from a reputed third-party so how would that happen ?

If what you are saying is right , won't people be reporting amazon and getting a free refund on any goods ?

1047  Economy / Services / Re: Genesis-mining.com || Signature Campaign on: June 02, 2014, 05:47:12 PM
Currently , this is overcutting the next competitors by almost 100% (and even though that is awesome Tongue ) , it seems unsustainable in the long run.

My current signatures earns me almost 0.125 BTC a month. I might switch over to this if the payouts are not increased in my current campaigns.

Its not massively overcutting for me, just about enough more for me to risk it as my current campaigns have proved reliable.

Well , you clearly have not checked the rules properly.

You get paid the stated amount for every 50 posts , using up a 'slot'.
There are 5 slots , implying you can get upto 0.9 BTC per month with 300 posts.

While it is highly unlikely that an individual would get that much ,it is possible , this chance makes this campaign so amazing.
1048  Economy / Services / Re: Soylent preorders can now be done with bitcoin on: June 02, 2014, 05:43:51 PM
Don't eat it! It's people, soylent green is people!! Cheesy
Scariest part about buying this Tongue

Also , other than that, there have been speculated problems , even if you assume that it has 100% RDA of all macro and micro nutrients :-

1. Loss of tooth power - your mandible will weaken and your teeth will become sensitive from lack of chewing
2. Stomach problems - sensitivity to solid foods, if you ever travel and need to ingest solid foods
3. Digestion disorders
4. Facial muscle loss & weakness thereby

1050  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How Do I Tell My Daughter That People Across Europe Fear Minorities Like Us? on: June 02, 2014, 04:42:33 PM
I think a lot of it has to go with the fact that ethnic white communities feel victimized, feeling like they're being forced to stay politically correct.
That's the demographic FN and PVV pander to: white, working class, frustrated males. And that's been that way ever since the Euro-sceptic right wing emerged.
Don't see anything changing. Jews then, Muslims now, someone else 50 years down the line
1051  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Metadisk - Blockchain Based File Sharing - Powered by Storj on: June 02, 2014, 04:33:47 PM
I'd like to join the beta.

Sounds like a nice idea , but how feasible will it be ?
Why will decentralization be more valued than price ? There are lost of centralized , but free services.
1052  Other / Politics & Society / Re: No news on CNN about air bombing on Lugansk. on: June 02, 2014, 04:14:18 PM
Funnily enough, I can see Voice Of Russia and a few YT channels as the only ones covering this.

Do you have any other english language sources on this?
1053  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Solar Roadways... on: June 02, 2014, 04:02:52 PM
Aside from the energy efficiency issue, they're also going to be a nightmare as far as safety is concerned.
The LED signage could be hacked quite easily if I'm not mistaken, or at least it won't be particularly hard to do it.

Then there's the funding, crowdfunding will only get you so far, I doubt the plan will be able to attract serious investors
1054  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Snowden should 'man-up' and face trial: says SOS John Kerry on: June 02, 2014, 04:01:26 PM

i'm kind of tempted to bet the GOP candidate losing to hilary, mainly because the republicans don't have enough broad appeal. though i won't vote for hilary, i wouldn't mind putting my money on her.

I wouldn't consider Rand a frontrunner. CPAC and similar early straw polls tend to lean towards younger, libertarian (at least perceived libertarians) but establishment candidates are tough to beat in the larger states. Paul will probably struggle for donors in CA, TX, OH. Current trends shouldn't be taken as a reasonable projection by any means.
1055  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How do I take a backup of my electrum wallet ? on: June 02, 2014, 04:00:34 PM
Easiest way is as follows:

- Run elecrum
- Go to file menu > save copy
- Give it a suitable name and save it some place convenient

Then just upload to your cloud storage.

IMO it's too risky to store a wallet on a cloud service, but you may feel otherwise.

Will it still have my normal password encryption ?
1056  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Was U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl a Traitor? on: June 02, 2014, 03:52:04 PM
The reaction to Sgt. Bergdahl's story has in large part been one of unwarranted skepticism. Granted, there are details we do not know and may never know, the truth is that he was a POW. And even if he was disillusioned with the US's operation, he still deserved to be saved, just like any other POW. You can't pick and choose POW's to save based on their blind devotion to an operation that they can asses best on the ground.
1057  Economy / Economics / Re: Hypothetically, if a large enough gold deposit was found, could it cause economi on: June 02, 2014, 03:36:00 PM
For some reason , everyone has been ignoring the point of the question.

I think he is trying to ask something like this :-

Quote
Let's say a huge meteor of gold fell from the sky. It was pure refined gold already and it was enough to make all other gold valueless.
First, what effect would this have on the economy? I heard somewhere that the wealth of nations is based on how much gold each country has.
Second, what if I could mine and sell it, like, really super fast without anyone knowing? Could I hypothetically become rich before anyone realized what was happening?

Everyone seems to be answering why Bitcoin is better and why there would be problems mining.

Even if the question as reframed by me is not what he intended to ask , can anyone here answer it ?
The concept sounds interesting.

Other than making gold more used than aluminimum , for a huge amount of things (I guess we would use gold foil instead of aluminimum foil) , what effect would it have on the economy , of places like fort knox ?
1058  Economy / Gambling / Re: ★☆★FREE CHIPS FOR EVERYONE!! & WIN BTC. NEW MULTIPLAYER POKER IS HERE!!! ★☆★ on: June 02, 2014, 03:30:24 PM
This website seems similar to something else...

I decided to do a comparison.

The whois info showed that this and one other gambling website are the only two Bitcoin gambling sites (that I know of ) to use the same anonymous website registration proxy.
I compared their posts and their formatting is really really similar.
Yes , it is RitzGrandCasino.
Comparing even their names , their style is distincly similar. Their formatting on their post is extremely similar , with stars in the post name all caps free giveaway info and a habit to write "PLUS" in bold.
They post their website link over and over in the intro post

This is no true evidence , but I believe they are the same person.

LINK FOR COMPARISON
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=630083.0

we must of gone to the same school. lol

School ?
I was talking about the fact that you registered using the same anonymous website registration service , which no other site I checked had used.

Sorry , I was just assuming.

I had put that here just in case RGC skips out with peoples' money , as a warning.
1059  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: New Bitcoin HYIP programs. Please post on: June 02, 2014, 03:26:52 PM
Why? Ponzis aren't sustainable

You can make A LOT of money if you know when to quit
i agreed. ponzi is the best opportunity for beginners i think. low cost invesing and big chance to win. its better than playing dice.

Not really.

A ponzi is basically a gamble with a much much higher house edge.
If you play on JD, using a martingale , 49.5% chance that you will get a profit and 50.5% chance you will get a loss.

On the other hand , a ponzi means you would probably get a much lower chance of profit , around 30% or so.
I think ponzis deserve to be put in gambling , as they are basically gambling systems where you "lose" when the owner skips on you.
1060  Economy / Services / Re: Genesis-mining.com || Signature Campaign on: June 02, 2014, 03:24:07 PM
I'd suggest you change the "slots" to around 0.025 for Full member , 0.075 for each additional 50 posts.

I believe that the payment for the first 50 slots is because :-
It gives assurance of an active user with sufficient new posts
It applies the signature to all previous posts

You are already massively overpaying and 0.075 BTC for each 50 additional posts will put you at around 0.0015 BTC per post , which is still at the top of signature campaigns.
You could probably cap this at 10-20 of these additional slots , and maybe making a cap per user too.

Currently , this is overcutting the next competitors by almost 100% (and even though that is awesome Tongue ) , it seems unsustainable in the long run.

I will take your word for it Smiley

Don't take that as an endorsement or assurance.

An irrational owner may still scam. I was just asserting that no rational person would scam.
A significant amount of scammers don't think rationally.

The second reason why an escrow is not really needed from their point of view is that they don't really need to start their signature campaign big , as it may prove to be unsustainable.
A smaller number of members will actually benefit them to test it out and they can increase over a month or so, after their first batch of payments.

Even without an escrow their campaign is really attractive.
