1002  Economy / Services / Re: Genesis-mining.com || Signature Campaign || Up to 0.15 BTC per 50 posts! on: June 05, 2014, 01:53:32 PM
Wow , I expected a lot fewer members and a near definite chance of getting 0.6 BTC +

Anyways , I have crossed a hundred posts since I signed up and wanted to notify you. I'm aiming for all the sum-up slots , but realistically expect around 3-4 Tongue

If you have the time , go through my posts and tell me if you believe that any of them are of insufficient quality and if I should refrain from posting any kind of post. Feel free to deduct them from my post count if you feel they are unproductive or of poor quality. I want to ensure that your company benefits as much as possible from this contract Smiley

Thanks,

1003  Economy / Speculation / What happens when Paypal accepts Bitcoin ? on: June 05, 2014, 01:47:50 PM
http://video.cnbc.com/gallery/?video=3000281677

Let me quote - "At Paypal we will have to integrate digital currencies into our wallet"
He has also said that he himself owns some bitcoins.

What does this mean in the short term , what will happen when people hear that Paypal  may support Bitcoin in the indeterminate future ?
I think the bare news will cause a rise in the price of a bitcoin , but by how much ?

And what does this mean in the long term , when the day comes that Paypal accepts Bitcoin ? Will this convince more people to join use Bitcoin on its own or will Bitcoin just be another payment method , muddled up inside Paypal ?

This will definitely increase Bitcoin awareness , but will this make Paypal take over Bitcoin business from sites like bitstamp and blockchain.info's wallet or will this make people leave Paypal for Bitcoin ?

And last but not least , will the forum explode as news of this spreads ? There has always been a don't mix Bitcoin and Paypal policy , how easily will people switch to Paypal ?

1004  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bashar Assad wins Syria presidential election with 88.7% of vote on: June 05, 2014, 01:45:41 PM
Still not as bad as General Sisi winning the Egyptian elections with 96.9% of the vote.
It's more frustrating in Egypt in light of all the struggles for democracy.
They didn't even bother to muddle the numbers like Assad did. It's a clear indication of Egypt's return to dictatorship
1005  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Tiananmen Square on: June 05, 2014, 01:39:37 PM
Actually yes. When I was in middle school, we learned about that.

However, there is a big difference between removing protestors from an area and trying to kill all of them.

The intention behind the gov response to the Bonus Army protests and that of the Chinese to Tiananmen wasn't very different.
Both saw the protests as PR disasters, they let them stay for a while, until they decided it was enough, and ordered them out.
Protesters resisted, and death followed.
1006  Economy / Lending / Re: [REQ] 0.04 BTC loan for 3 days, return 0.05 BTC on: June 05, 2014, 01:38:50 PM

You don't have enough trust/reputation for people to take your loan request seriously. Just like a bank generally offers loans secured based upon other assets, you are only going to get this loan if you have some collateral to offer. Since you do not have either I would be fairly sure you won't get this loan.

I'd pretty easily give it to him , but it seems like this is just a stepping stone.
He is taking progressively larger loans , in a bid to finally "cash out" any trust he gets. (that is the only reason I can see for continuous tiny loans with no specifiable reason)
1007  Other / Politics & Society / Re: US Soldier in exchange for 5 Al-Qaeda members on: June 05, 2014, 01:34:40 PM
Just one soldier released in exchange for 5 hardcore terrorists. These terrorists in turn will kill many more American soldiers. Bergdahl wasn't even a high ranking officer to begin with.

His rank isn't important there, the point Obama is trying to make is that he was a POW. And indeed, he was. So were the 5 Gitmo detainees. It was a POW exchange, nothing untoward about it.
1008  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is first 'global reserve currency' NOT dominated by a country on: June 05, 2014, 01:33:10 PM
Such ideal

Much Dumb

You realize whoever controls the most hash can easily screw bitcoin.......right?

Thats not how it works, sry. You need go get more than 50% of the has power to actually do something, not just the most.

cex.io has over 40%. They sold off some of their power in order to prevent Bitcoin from falling due to lack of investor confidence. However , they can easily get sufficient mining power if they tried to dominate Bitcoin.

This is exactly what Bitcoin is against , the fact that a single person or group of people has the power to make decisions , even if they are trustworthy.
1009  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitWheel.io | Bitcoin Wheel Of Fortune on: June 05, 2014, 01:28:04 PM
I suggest you mention your house edge.
If I calculated it correctly , it should be a bit under 1.6%
With a good house edge like that , mentioning it would be good to gather attention ( unless it is much higher and I miscalculated )
1010  Economy / Gambling / Re: New french community website talking about HYIP on: June 05, 2014, 01:20:18 PM

Let's make profit now! Scam time is over!

Aren't HYIPs all inherently scams? Like all ponzi schemes? I don't care if people gamble their money in them.

I guess maybe if everyone knows what they're getting into it's not really a scam. But for the most part people running them are misleading people and attempting to scam them.

Well , HYIP is an acronym for High Yield Investment Program
Most famous HYIPs we see are just glorified ponzis , but unlike ponzis , they have a proper background story with falsified team members.
This makes most people fall for them.

They typically are not restricted to Bitcoin and they last for a much much longer time than the typical ponzi.

You can get money from them by getting on early and getting off early , and just like a ponzi , it is a gambling game with unknown odds and a huge house interest , a gambling game whose rules are not well defined.
1011  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: eBay CEO: "We will have to integrate digital currencies..." on: June 05, 2014, 12:56:41 PM
You guys need to listen closely.

"At Paypal we will have to integrate digital currencies into our wallet"

NOT EBAY , BUT PAYPAL ITSELF !
What is going to happen to the anti-paypal stuff now ?
1012  Economy / Gambling / Re: Where are the EV+ casino games? on: June 05, 2014, 12:46:49 PM

This guy was playing on Just-Dice today, betting at 90% chance to win (generally a pretty bad idea) and winning.  Notice his profit at no point went negative.

What does generally a pretty bad idea mean ? As far as I can understand , the house edge should be equal at all levels and that would just be a lot less fun (as you have no chance of winning something substantial) , with the same amount of risk.

Is my understanding wrong ?
1013  Economy / Services / Re: Lets Have Fun :) 18+ Only! on: June 05, 2014, 12:39:13 PM
I've not seen much of that kind of stuff here , you should search for a place where this is well established.
You may get a larger audience at http://www.reddit.com/r/GirlsGoneBitcoin

Good luck,

1014  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Bitcoin Dice Script PHP Only 0.005 BTC on: June 05, 2014, 11:59:36 AM
3$

Seriously guys , if you need a demo to buy a 3$ script , you really shouldn't be thinking of starting a gambling site...

Just take a gamble. I'm pretty sure nobody would scam for 3$ and you can ask him to go first if you have a trust rating or two.
1015  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Steam Gift Store~ Got over 200+ Diferent, New & Updated Games [Want] Paypal/ BTC on: June 05, 2014, 11:57:21 AM

1017  Economy / Gambling / Re: 48Hourbtc.com-Double Your Bitcoin-In 48 Hours- Payment Hourly. on: June 05, 2014, 02:25:49 AM
Is this a ponzi or HYIP system?
Absolutely no, HYIP and Ponzi systems are made to get away when there are enoght funds (collected through rounds, blocks or waiting time) to steal by owners of system.

A ponzi is a system with high returns not actually earned by the company , but paid from others investments.
Yours is all of it , and will break down soon enough.

1018  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTB] Steam Gift cards - 5 / 10$ on: June 05, 2014, 02:13:55 AM

1019  Other / Meta / Re: Coin police on forum - project? on: June 05, 2014, 02:05:05 AM
Here is a list of some popular coins :- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=134179.0

The list was last updated in Jan 2014.
The "purgatory" section must be much more crowded now. Cheesy

I'd argue that the top 4 categories are still non-scam coins.
And I guess that is what he was looking for.
1020  Other / Meta / Re: Can i change my name on here? on: June 04, 2014, 06:40:18 PM
that's all, just wanting to see if its possible to change my name (so that things like my post history stay intact) rather than making a new account?

Thanks.

You can change if you are a VIP , as aforementioned.

But , if you have a proper reason why you don't want , but need a name change , theymos may help you.
