I think this year coming up is going to be an eye opener for a lot of people in many ways.

Blake Coin has a lot to offer.

When we make our move those who have been with us from the start of since then will be glad they were.

Happy birthday !!

2 years on and still going strong thanks for everyone's continued help and support  Cool

Ron, i never got a chance to try, just recently installed vs to use for some other projects and will likely test with btc first , if i come up with anything useful will post here.

When you built qrencode did you get any errors ?

You could try make clean & rebuilding it or delete qrencode folder & just rebuild it.

I did not bother to check if you were using btc source known to be compatable with these build directions.

I suggest also on the win 7 vm in control panel go to user accounts , change user account settings, pull all the way down to never notify.... to allow easier / seamless building of the toolchain. This has been known to cause issues for some people.

up the bounty to 250k and i may consider looking at it
167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] LITHIUM (LIT) - NO PREMINE - BLAKE 256 - MERGE MINED -- HOT NEW COIN -- on: September 19, 2015, 07:14:09 PM
One of the advantages of all coins in the blake 256 blake coin ecosystem is that if you only want to mine a child coin i.e. Lithium in this case you can do so.....

It can be done with solo or pooled mining.

It will not effect others (the majority) who will merge mine.

Do as you like !!
168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: September 19, 2015, 07:08:56 PM
afaik f2 was running current 9.x ix code, however cex was not,

f2 stopped since 'someone' sent several transactions with a large number of inputs creating blocks larger than 750k which the 3.x codebase could not handle

i examined the history of this in the block crawler and other ways and cannot tell if the attack was deliberate (doubtful) or just someone moving coins with an old client since the older clients (pre qt) used input/output addresses quite differently than the newer codebases

last i heard cex has it on the agenda to update the ix code not sure when it will be complete

once they complete this hopefully f2 will fire up ix again,

a friend and mentor of mine bluedragon747 once told me "when you mine for gold you would be foolish not to take out silver, tin, or anything else there even if of marginal value"

i.e. while mining , mine it all !!

Merged mining allows this and I can only hope the larger pools will consider this analogy which I find as common sense for the future , indeed if the performance hit is small why not merge mine everything

Hi Cin,
Is it possible to use your great personality and skills to convince F2pool to update iXcoin?
Thanks
169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: September 19, 2015, 07:00:56 PM
i agree with markm, vlad, terpin, changing the name is nothing I can support in any way.

if someone feels new logos or graphics are necessary , maybe not such a big deal,

I am certainly not a marketing expert,

if history has taught us anything the success of doge coin shows you can launch a coin with an out dated codebase, poor/unfair reward system, bad security (although it is certainly better now) and with the right push in the media  by certain people it can become very popular and an overnight sensation.

Therefore a coin with actual technology advantages over almost all others should be successful with the right push.
170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Russia to start bitruble - will be first government sponsered cryptocurrency on: September 19, 2015, 06:55:19 PM
So it begins ...

"Bitruble, a new Russian cryptocurrency, will be issued and circulated under control of Russia's Central Bank. It is expected to compete with Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies."

see here http://sputniknews.com/business/20150918/1027204933/russian-national-cryptocurrency.html

This is something I expected eventually , if it ends up happening I wonder what the impact will be on bitcoin and all other alt coins .... 2016 will be here soon and obviously they did not just consider this idea and announce it today.....  the plot thickens indeed
171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: anyonw knows about when mining bitcoin will end on: September 17, 2015, 11:48:40 PM
2140 will come up quick, many issues need resolving before than, year 2037 likely most pressing right now
172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] PHO Photon blake256- MERGE MINE 6 COINS- NO PREMINE - TRADING ON EXCHANGES on: September 17, 2015, 11:35:21 PM
I agree that if you dislike blake coin or any other blake 256 family coins go out and pick a coin you feel comfortable supporting.

I see a lot of what some of us call the 'arms race' , alt coins with mobile wallets and other add on's while there is no place to use them.

Blakezone is one of a few projects I am aware of on the table to use blake coin and other coins in the family for real world applications.

Also I see other coins updating to newer codebases of bitcoin 10 and 11 ect but since the 'updates' being done in many cases are copy and paste jobs many features are either not working properly or simply not necessary.

Our team has chosen how to spend our time and resources very carefully imo and I stand behind those choices including the leader of the project Bluedragon747.

There are multiple things  we have discussed in private and other things that we have not discussed that I and the other devs. could 'include' or 'update' to our current codebase however we see no need to do so at this time. For example I was playing around with a tool to 'insert' information into the blockchain of Photon 8-10 months ago or so.  We decided against use of this since for various reasons (at this time).

Some projects  take time to develop and get to a point where they are ready for public release.

We do not do things half way, or 'fake develop' things that vanish a month later.

Also I will take this opportunity to remind you that our system is the only fully functional merged mining cryptocurrency system other than bitcoin that anyone has produced.  Scrypt 1024 merged mining and all sha 2 merged mining for that matter will never touch blake 256 in terms of speed or design and blake 256 holds up better than sha 2 side by side from a security standpoint on all the research I have read.

Finally sha 2 (the foundation of bitcoin and litecoin , ppc, countless others) are successful projects to different degrees (no disrespect to their development teams intended) but the fact is sha 2 was DESIGNED by the NSA.  The nsa has published recommendations people move away from sha 2. That is no accident. While no published work of sha 2 being successfully attacked full on with collission is out there I don't think the NSA is always disclose everything they know about different circumstances and facts of cryptography.

Blake 256 may not have been chosen as the final sha 3 candidate and I can't prove this but i feel in my heart that if 'SATOSHI' was going to redesign bitcoin over again 'SATOSHI' would certainly change a few things based on what 'history' so far has taught us and I honestly believe in my heart one of those changes would be using blake 256 vs sha 2.  Just because I believe that does not make it a fact but until he comes on here and tells me I am wrong I believe it based on careful study of his work and all published writings and former posts.  (I guarantee you I have spent hundreds more hours reading old threads around here and other places than 99.999% of all the other members of this forum -- because of this I feel qualified and confident stating that.)

For these any many other reasons I have declined several offers to join other development teams even lead positions as developer for other coins ( some very well known and with much larger 'market shares' than this project ) and will continue to do so to further blake 256 development.

As I predicted long ago hobby mining for 'profit' has ended , actually it ended long ago.
The only people mining coins these days are true supporters of cryptocurrencies and maybe a few people who steal or have access to 'free' electricity and own equipment -- and that includes bitcoin.
I know for a fact a majority alt coins running various algorithms are buying their hash power every day to keep thier blockchain moving. I know how to observe a coin networks nodes and operation carefully and 'see' a lot of things not obvious to someone who does not know exactly what to look for.

If you are a true supporter of cryptocurrency and want to mine coins on an alt coin project that has always been and will allways be run honestly and with integrity you should join us now.  We are one of very few projects that can state that claim and a project that has many things to offer that no other projects offer.

173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin: constellations POW *CPU* HARD FORK successful, world record on: September 17, 2015, 11:00:57 PM
i see no issues either
ypool seems fine, but deposits and withdrawals have been disabled at poloniex for a few days now.

bs!

Poloniex works great. So does btc38.
174  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Bitcoin Cipher/puzzle - 0.56 Prize ! Bitcoins on: September 14, 2015, 03:19:05 AM
A true solution to something is accomplished with only the original data.
Newton, Einstein, Euclid ect... had no hints.

i will post a new hint later on today Smiley just need to prepare it, don't wanna give away to much Smiley

Awaiting for your hints! Cheers!
175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: September 14, 2015, 03:11:10 AM
There are many obvious reasons to keep identity secret when developing systems that are designed to nullify regulation of governments & corporations.
Read the proposed law in California for one example.

The same could be said of Satoshi Nakamoto.  Why remain anonymous at this point?

Exactly.  I don't know any devs, other than Satoshi and Thomas, that have worked so hard to remain anonymous for such a long period for no obvious reason.
176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX on: September 13, 2015, 03:02:55 AM
said it before and want to say again,

for such a popular coin/project it could actually be greatly improved from it's most serious flaw --

verifiable research in cryptography with alt coins that use multiple algorithms are only at best (and even this is a stretch) secure as the weakest of the algorithms used.

this project has some aspects i have criticized in the past and still feel the same i will not bring up again as my intention is to give some constructive input here.

i think a smart move on the part of the dev. team would be to use a single algorithm, the best choices would probably be one of the sha 3 candidates --- much much more secure than current design....

177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] i0coin - Back from the dead on: September 13, 2015, 02:56:27 AM
to my knowledge vircurex (a crooked place to do business with anyway) was the last exchange to have the real i0 coin (the one this thread is about and merged mined with btc) listed.

if any exchanges add it please post here ----  honestly with all the junk floating out there hard to believe this coin is not traded somewhere along with all the merged coins with btc including groupcoin

178  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: blockchain explorer can't find my transaction on: September 13, 2015, 02:53:00 AM
blockchain is a good site but not perfect, sometimes not 100% accurate, there are more advanced methods to trace tx from qt wallet from rpc console, consult bitcoin wiki if you want to learn more about these things
179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Fair Weather Friends Of Alternative Coins And The Big Bad BTC ! on: September 05, 2015, 05:28:23 AM
I originally posted this 22 months ago.

After all that has gone on since then honestly things have not changed all so much.

Now there are asic units available for everyone...

There are successful alt coins some have been around a while some are new.

I never anticipated the amount of 'pure proof of stake' coins and the ipo 's which mostly (there are exceptions) have been flash in the pan rip off operations.

Since my original post so many new coins, exchanges, gimmicks, ect were born and a lot died.

Bitcoin was once again recently close to the $200 mark although it has been ticking up.

The launches of new coins seems to have quieted down.

For as much progress in the world of bitcoin & altcoins I suppose it is anyones 'guess' still where this will all end up.

I guess we are still all early and ahead of the curve when you consider that most alts have not yet gained much of a foothold in replacement of old style fake govt. money that instead of being backed up by open source code is backed up by armies with guns.

I wonder how many more years it will take ... quite a few more I suspect than when I started the original thread.....

mining this algo on a cpu seems ....well i guess not an ideal method ...
what hash rate could you possibly get ?

or are you just testing for benchmarking purposes or other research ??
