68  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Building headless Bitcoin and Bitcoin-qt on Windows on: February 18, 2016, 06:44:33 AM
i think you may have a much easier time if you install virtual box and get a windows 7 iso image and install everything clean , i have not used win 10 yet for anything except the demo and not on an actual machine only in vb..... still i know others who have had no issue with building on win 10 ,  from experience if you are new to compiling a bitcoin client for win from these notes believe me a clean install as i suggested should be a big help.

I am attempting to do this, but I keep getting stuck on building protobuf. It always ends with this error in a dialog box:
Code:
The procedure entry point _ZSt24_throw_out_of_ragne_fmtOKcz could not be located in the dynamic link library c:\deps\protobuf-2.6.1\src\protoc.exe

I am building this on Windows 10.

Photon is now in need of a new exchange.

I will consider offers for listing on a case by case base for full developer support.

In theory any exchange can add it anytime & what could I do !!

While I am unhappy banx io is closing I have nothing but great things to say about Byron when it was Atomic + the new people who took over and ran it as banx io.  I have never had an issue getting paid or with withdrawal. They were loyal to ALL coins in the blake 256 family and that is something I will never ever forget.

Also they never asked for a 'bribe' or other 'compensation' for listing coins.

That speaks volumes as to their integrity imo...

Best of luck all  Grin
71  Other / Off-topic / Re: How would you help with bitcoin? on: February 09, 2016, 04:41:19 AM
you want to 'help' bitcoin ?

run a node

or

use it (and better uses are actual purchases vs. cups of coffee imo)

or

contribute to the source

or

mine it

or

if you cannot do any of these things,  at least show respect for the real people who have helped make it possible......

please consider those ideas

hoping this next block won't be a 'kidney stoner' like the last

curious what advantage there is to upgrading codebase to stay level with bitcoin --- that is outside of a few of the important security upgrades in bitcoin since this was originally launched......

i mean i guess if a coin has a 'limited community" is an updated client necessary?

i ve helped update a few other alt coins and found few people used the clients !!

im curious the amount of premined mmc2 that was actually redeemed in private keys from the other coins and the amount if any that remains unredeemed in this fashion.....

also I think mmc2 as it stands is a robust , future minded coin at least for the people who rave on about 'asic resistance'

i can tell you , never , ever have I seen anything as hard to mine as this coin ever.....

when you count hashes a minute and your best hardware churns out between 3 and 4 , that is 'resistant'  Grin

well if the biggest issue now is fighting between pools for 50% that is a better problem then only having one pool with almost the entire network !!

also remember the 51% threshold  is no magic number ,

a network can be attacked /double spent with much less or more hashpower controlled to different degrees

there are many academic papers about this so I think intermediate and advanced crowd often just tunes these squabbles out (I know I usually do ).....
75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Memorycoin ★ Modern CPU PoW ★ COMPLETELY GPU/ASIC FREE ★ NO Free PoS on: January 30, 2016, 06:12:23 AM
have not posted here for a while,

was a bit concerned when a 'few' mmc2 i was waiting for never arrived when i expected it ,

the other day i had some time and synched up the wallet and along came what i had been waiting for !!

So I was happy to see I got the coins (trust me I own so few you would not believe )

Reminded me I never posted how to generate new addresses !!

Just type in the rpc console

getnewaddress

it will spit it out

while not necessary you can certainly

validateaddress x

where x is the new address it spit out for you and the output along with the public key and a few other items should be

ismine = true

also worth mention, had no issue at all connecting to network, not as many nodes as last time out but very active , chain moving , if there are any updates with a gpu or other optimized miners I would love to hear about them, I am not mining right now since i lack hardware to have any legit chance of hitting a block
76  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: List of all cryptocoins on: January 30, 2016, 04:28:38 AM
you must be joking,  the thread would be longer than the encyclopedia britanica lol

seriously dude

go to coin market cap or something if you want a list of most coins,

there are other places too that can guide you like the website that has a map of cryptocoins that is laid out as they were cloned from what ect.....  cant recall the name though....

there are just wayyy too many to ever have a full list i suspect,

Is this updated anymore?

I agree , Banx io is your best choice for an exchange for many reasons -- in particular for Blake Coin
