421  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: March 22, 2015, 09:37:18 PM
i could answer this question if i knew more information

i am often slow to endorse new services / things.....

sometimes they don't end up they way they were planned or promised for one reason or another

also anyone who accepts paid votes or allows more than one vote per person , ect...   makes the 'election' a sham

still I know nothing about this service ,

when I see paid votes i stop.

@ everyone

What do you think about this?

https://twitter.com/cryptocoinapi/status/578843930801934336

Should we support it?
422  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: March 18, 2015, 06:51:02 AM
ok they stay, if the wallet stays down additional weeks /months we can re evaluate at that time

just remember , if you are like me , like to purchase coins and hold them in your own wallet under your own control

you need to do this business at an exchange that allows you to withdraw coins you purchaseed...............

same if you want to sell a coin..........if you cannot deposit a coin to an exchange..........well buyer beware...........
423  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: March 18, 2015, 05:52:35 AM
well if Cryptsy was /is a problem it is nothing new...........

the wallet has been inactive, unable to deposit or withdraw coins there for weeks............that I know of personally, maybe months........

personally I will never do business there again not just over this , many other reasons.........

i am going to ask them to be removed from the ix . org site since to me no exchange has any validity without
being able to deposit and withdraw coins............

that leaves vircurex with small time volume and cexio with largest volume as the exchanges............

let me know if i messed anyone............   going to check with Vlad see how he feels about it..............

Man that stuff is shithot right now on cryptsy  Cool
424  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] PHO Photon (blake 256) MERGE MINE 6 COINS -- NO PREMINE -- COIN CONTROL - on: March 18, 2015, 05:45:14 AM
i am doing some testing on the electron and umo network now

have been for a few hours,

opening up new nodes,

seeing ununual behauvor from a few nodes,

i won't say which ones for now,

was in touch with bluedroagon with the information...........

nothing is out of control now however I will find out who is messing around with the network if that is in fact what is happening
(appears that way)

i may blow you a kiss back over the wire if you are still connected , never know...........

someone is injecting bad blocks into elt/umo networks and it is crashing wallets which is taking out pools

Is this the reason ELT and UMO wallets need to be rebuilt?
Let me check with Blue to see what is going on.  Had to reindex 3 wallets this morning already.
425  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [JBS] Jumbucks Info & Discussion - Multipool - 5+ Stars POD on: March 16, 2015, 03:39:11 AM
The source code did not mention a license..............  it it released under the mit license as stated inside the code itself ?  or ?
426  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BLA] BLADE | AGX | XNIGMA | VOTING | FAUCET ACTIVE on: March 16, 2015, 03:27:19 AM
it ended a long time ago, blockchain is over 110k tall i think proof of work ended around block 20k !!!

proof of stake only at this point.............

PoW ends ?
427  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Empeopled: A Social Content-sharing Community That Pays Bitcoin To Members on: March 16, 2015, 03:24:54 AM
well i did not name it, and it certainly is not anything that would/could or is even trying to compete with this forum at all.

It is a social network that uses bitcoin, basically........... I don't even think they have a bitcoin topic discussion !!!

Just news, science, ect......

The way it works members have some latitude in creation of new topics...........  Smiley Smiley
428  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] PHO Photon (blake 256) MERGE MINE 6 COINS -- NO PREMINE -- COIN CONTROL - on: March 16, 2015, 03:20:54 AM
lol

Chig, do you want me to update it to fork your repo, update it with coin control , the lastest level db, checkpoint it and release it then you can merge when you have time if you like??

Would be pretty easy at this point .........

I know you are busy and involved in many things however working on the blake coin system is my main project now so drop me a pm or get in touch other wise and let me know,  and will code up in a few days and do a gitpull after everything is tested...........  unless you want to continue to handle it which I know you certainly can.

This is just for you though dear.........  I don't want anyone to get the impression I am going to start pimping myself out on the street of crypto.....

My services are not available for ANYONE outside the core blake 256 family !!

(other than a few coins I donated /spent time to code fixes or updates for because I wanted to suuport them or I happen to like them...........

just trying to offer a few helpful hints here not step on the Univ Mol dev's toes...........  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Haha typical cinn! don't worry, it is your thread anyways Cheesy
429  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Cinnamon Coin 1.4.1 (CIN) No PreMine (POW )& POS --- in hibernation on: March 16, 2015, 03:10:33 AM
ok someone asked me about this old little project the other day,

I could now if i wanted to fix everything 100% and start up the proof of work and proof of stake going again on CIN.

My c++  and full understanding of proof of work/stake code has improved leaps and bounds in the past several months...........

Just because I can do something does not mean it should be done ....

I am not going to do it at this time, the network nodes are alive , last I checked with 9-15 connections each .....

(which was yesterday)

I am currently involved in other projects that leave me little time or desire to work on CIN at this time.........

The network is active and continue to produce a half dozen blocks or sometimes many more a day from stake only

Here it is in a nutshell

When I launched this coin I did not really grasp the issues that proof of stake fails in , i.e. byzantine generals problem not to mention this code base and any other one based on ppc or nvc ect.... have many 'vulnerabilities' , unless you have some centralized checkpointing............the codebase this particular coin was cloned from could be attacked literally by someone with a decent amount of coins / coin age and by them playine around with the clock on their computer and connecting to the network........... sounds messed up but it is true.

I never wanted a centralized anything so I will not put in a system like ppc or feathercoin uses aka Sunny King style, (not to say I disrespect his work on the contrary I think he is a brilliant developer)

Stake is 'arbitrary'   ..........  at some point in the future I may or may not decide to hard fork this to proof of work only, and possibly change the algorithm from scrypt 1024 to something else............................

Since I am the only person working on it, and obviously no one else has any interest in this project I don't think it really matters what I do with it.

I keep the nodes up since I have nodes running for bitcoin, and other projects I support on several servers so no waste of resources to keep these alive.

So that is it.    I may never post to this thread again , or who knows if I have free time  in a month or two and feel like experimenting I may
look at a change............. If I did I would likely do it in such a way that allows anyone who owned coins in the past to retain them by importing your private keys into the new wallet....................

If anyone is up for a challenge in c++ , math, crypto, and all kinds of other lovely stuff do a gitpull with your proposal for a solution and if it looks good I would test it and merge it...........   please do not reply here , stick to the comments on github and we will work there..........

I don't expect that to happen and I am ok with that since I have moved on to much better projects.

I still think Cinnamon Coin was really cool for a lot of reasons

1) It was the first coin named after someone (me),

2) It was a great learning experience for me

3)  I would have never even joined this forum except to announce it , I was a lurker only for years before that since the locker room type atmosphere of 'guys only' on this forum  made me feel unwelcome as a woman.  I no longer feel unwelcome in the forum and realized for as much as i learned from this forum before I was a member I learned a lot more after I joined.

4) Other reasons I will keep to myself
430  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] PHO Photon (blake 256) MERGE MINE 6 COINS -- NO PREMINE -- COIN CONTROL - on: March 16, 2015, 02:24:26 AM
Are you running the latest release of Electron for windows (I guess we are on win here correct me if I am wrong)

It is here

https://github.com/Electron-Coin2014/Electron-ELT/releases/tag/0.8.9.4a

I compiled it and tested it on various win machines, virtual and normal, at least 10 different machines............. I take building good wallets seriously

While reindexing if something got corrupt is a solution......... I wonder how this happened in the first place...

I have spent a lot of time making sure the clients released are error free..... please let me know how it goes......

If still having issues please post error log file from rpc console ......... you can put it here or on the electron coin thread and I may have a better idea what happened.

Sorry you are having problems.

offtopic sort of.......... the univ mol client is same from initial release, (I think one release several months ago was done with just a checkpoint)

Should be tight although the developer of that coin built all the release versions not me.

I use a wallet I built myself but if it worked before on that computer for you I wonder what happened.......

My advice is back up your wallets on something other than that particular pc......

Let us know how this works out and we will help you !!

EDIT 1   If you are going to use the repair wallet command and it does not work our lead dev bluedragon747 built the python wallet repair program for the blake family, and it works well......... it is on the blake coin thread..........

Another option that may be labor intensive if you have a lot of addresses is to use

listaddressgroupings

from rpc console and then dump the private key for each,  then import into a new wallet......................

that is a guaranteed way to repair a wallet but can take a half hour of copy and pasting them if you used many addresses... ect.....

just trying to offer a few helpful hints here not step on the Univ Mol dev's toes...........  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Can't remember for sure if I have seen this error at some point.  May be related to the leveldb version.

Have you try re-indexing the blocks?
Command prompt: Go to where your electron-qt.exe file is located.  Instead of typing electron-qt.exe to launch the client, type "electron-qt.exe -reindex" and it will launch the client and reindex all the blocks.

Alternatively, in windows, right click the client icon.  Click copy.  Then click paste shortcut.  Then right click the shortcut icon.  Click properties. in the target field, add -reindex to the end of the commands.

If reindex doesn't work, we can try the 0.8.9.1 version of electron-qt to see if that solves the problem.
431  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ReikiCoin - Heals and cures, SHA 256 POS 101g ssl implemented on: March 15, 2015, 06:52:51 AM
i tried to connect , no connections available, to answer the question on the stake ,

whoever cooked this up i think has taken the github down at least i could not find it but i found i copy of the souce code i had
to build a wallet (quite some time ago)

here is where the values were set in main.cpp (in the copy of the source i have)

unsigned int nStakeMinAge = 60 * 60 * 24 * 30;
unsigned int nStakeMaxAge = 60 * 60 * 24 * 90;

So 30 days coin age before you earn any stake.

90 days for full weight.

edit one, sorry i stand corrected, here is the source on github and appears to match the source I have (at least as far as days for stake)

also , i mention it only in passing I am posting to this thread for basically 'entertainment' only since after much research and study of code I am convinced that the current /existing proof of stake systems every coin I have ever seen (which are all based on ppc in one way or another) has fundamental flaws....

some clones have bad brews of code with bad settings for modifiers making those worse ... however what I mean here is this entire system is flawed.

Not only does it fail the Byzantine Generals problem, there are multiple flaws in the code if the network is decentralized.........

Ppc is ok since it has the centralized checkpointing however personally I am against a 'centralized' vs. 'decentralized' network.

I will say there are fewer issues /flaws if a coin is proof of stake only and the proof of work is coded out .........

But .......still exploitable by many methods, some as simple as changing the clock on your computer......some much more complex.......

I guess I should have figured this out years ago since the information was always pretty much all publicly available for anyone taking the time and care to search and read ....  however I suppose personally I 'liked' the idea of proof of stake and 'wanted' it to work and just 'overlooked' the flaws pointed out by many older posts you can find on the forum here and other places by bitcoin people debating ppc around and even months after it's launch........

That being said and I apologize for going off topic , if anyone gets a node up for this .... let me know , i may try to connect to the network again.

does any one know what it takes to stake a coin?  How many days do they need to sit?

Long time to stake. I up node, i sync and best now is solo mining.
432  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] PHO Photon (blake 256) MERGE MINE 6 COINS -- NO PREMINE -- COIN CONTROL - on: March 15, 2015, 05:50:10 AM
Sorry you are having problems ...

error is 'corrupted database' every start of the wallet, yet you also mention you redownloaded the blockchain , did you then get the message after the blockchain downloaded ?

are you on linux or windows and which flavor/version .....

I assume you are using the most recent build of photon that was released on github here

https://github.com/photonproject/photon/releases

if not, which version /wallet are you using,

I cannot reproduce this error as I have tested the wallet quite a bit however one possible cause of it is several releases previously there was an upgrade in the version of level db used , upgrading to a new wallet with the new level db may rebuild your database once....

If you then used that wallet with an older client it may have reindexed again....

If possible can you post debug log file, let's have a look and try to help you out....

Been getting corrupted database message on every start of the wallet. Deleted everything but wallet.dat and redownloaded the block chain but no change. What else is there to do?
433  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] PHO Photon (blake 256) MERGE MINE 6 COINS -- NO PREMINE -- COIN CONTROL - on: March 07, 2015, 08:42:25 PM
a few little updates,  routine maintainence.....

found one node that stopped for some unknown reason about a week ago..... restarted it...

same node was running blakebitcoin and lithium and they were stalled as well......

all fixed up now.... will continue to monitor things ......

other observations, kind of random things, on the various blake ecosystem networks,

someone recently moved a load of b+ based on coin age in the abe block crawler while a majority of photon that was mined early has not moved much..... so i guess people are 'hoarding' it...........

no weird stuff or unusual activity on the univ mol  or electron blockchains that i can see

Bluedragon747 our lead dev of the blake 256 ecosystem is mainly working on the MMO BlakeZone game that will use Blake Coin in the game as money for upgrades, weapons, and other premium items. BlueDragon stated Photon will be used in the game for purchcase of ammo !!

Here are a few photos of BlakeZone in case you have not seen it yet.

It is using the Unity 5 system for development.   It looks great and will be going into private beta testing as far as I know within the next month or so....

Hey Mr. Z

In the movie Pulp Fiction , remember what Butch said to Marsellus as he punched him about Pride?
Also consider the remaining events of that scene.

439  Economy / Service Discussion / Empeopled: A Social Content-sharing Community That Pays Bitcoin To Members on: March 03, 2015, 05:17:15 AM
I recently found out about https://empeopled.com/ on Twitter and since I found no references anywhere an the forums here about it I thought someone should mention it.  (Hopefully I selected the proper topic to do so)  Thiis website is like a social network that pays bitcoin to people using the site for different things and the topics and other aspects of the site are actaually open to community input https://empeopled.com/

I got permission from @zaibatsu on twitter who is involved with the project to post this information which if from the site

Full posting here https://empeopled.com/faq
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

What is Empeopled?

Empeopled is a content-sharing community that:

Pays you a dividend when people up-vote your posts and comments.
Gives you more influence based on the amount of up-votes you've received.
Empowers you to decide the site's future with the influence you amass.

How does Empeopled work?

When someone up-votes your post or comment you instantly get credited a small amount of Bitcoin.

On top of that, as you accumulate up-votes, your vote carries an increasingly greater weight.

Since trending content is determined by the amount of votes content gets, a greater voting weight means you have more say on who and what people pay attention to.

Lastly, since Empeopled is managed by its members, a greater voting weight also gives you more say on its future features, how its money is managed, its rules, and who its moderators are.

Why does Empeopled have users vote on rules and elect moderators?

From a practical perspective, we want to harness the power of 'the crowd' to maintain the quality of content and conversation.

From a philosophical perspective, we want to build a tool that empowers people to govern themselves on the Internet, starting with content and conversation, but hopefully more ambitious things in the future.

What's the number next to my name mean?

The number next to your name indicates your 'Decibel Level'.

What are 'Decibel Levels'? How do they work?

The higher your Decibel Level, the more your vote counts for.

If your Decibel Level in a topic is 10, then every time you vote on a post or comment that's related to that topic, the vote total for that post will change by 10.

That means your vote is worth 10 votes for that topic!

The more up-votes your posts get in a topic, the higher your Decibel Level becomes. The idea is to give people that have contributed more to a topic a louder voice.

What happens when I gain a Decibel Level?"

Decibel Level    Gained
1    Post, comment, vote on content
2    2x voting weight
3    Report content for moderator review, 3x voting weight
4    Vote in elections and on rules, 4x voting weight
5    Propose a new rule, 5x voting weight
6    Register as a candidate, 6x voting weight
7    7x voting weight
8    8x voting weight
9    9x voting weight
10    10x voting weight
50    50x voting weight

Why these topics?

Early-on we covered any and all topics, but some were more popular than others. To prevent dead topics and improve the typical member experience we decided to focus on those.

In the future, topics can be added based on demand. If you have a topic suggestion, tell us here: https://beta.empeopled.com/t/empeopled_news

How can new topics be added?

You can suggest new topics to add here. If other members agree and your suggestion gets enough votes it'll be created automatically.

Why was a topic deleted?

Some topics are deleted because of inactivity.

How much is each up-vote worth?

The amount each up-vote is worth is determined by the size of Empeopled's Treasury and how big the site is. At any given time you can see what an up-vote is worth by looking at the exchange rate at the top of your screen.

Note that while it's starting as a very small amount of money, growth of both the Treasury and membership will make it grow in the future. Specifically, the exchange rate grows 1:1 with the Treasury, and at 10x jumps based on the number of commenters (at 1,000,10,000, 100,000 weekly unique commenter thresholds).

This structure opens the possibility for some unique arrangements. For example if/when the community votes to have advertising on the site 50% of the earnings will go directly into the Treasury, which could make it grow quite rapidly.

How do commissions work?

You get 30% of the up-votes and thus money the people you've invited receive. You also get 20% of the up-votes their invitees receive, and 10% of their invitees invitees. You don't get commissions if you up-vote their content though.

Ok so to show this is a legit effort to just get the word out about what I think is a cool site I am not posting my reference code to 'earn' comissions from anyone who signs up.  Check it out You may like it.

For a preview of the MMO game BlakeZone level three please see this video posted earlier today to twitter by BlueDragon747

The game looks amazing.  This video left out the music so you can hear the actual sound effects of the game as if you were playing.

Taking bets on the number of languages bluedragon can write code in... my guess 25 , can probably pull off hello world in at least 70 ?

Anyone else think I'm right /wrong ?  Who knows if Blue will tell .....
