I wish... Can't wait to play BF3 on a decent card.  The preview vids on Youtube look AMAZING!!!

Man! Right after I switch to Propo 4 20+ minute blocks in a row! Fml..
1723  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: A Reality Check on: June 17, 2011, 09:16:52 PM
Except a lot of us (myself included) don't even do this for the money, although it's a nice secondary benefit.  Some of us are gadget freaks and just enjoy building systems and doing something other than playing WoW 24/7.
1724  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~3000 Gh/s Mining Pool] HTTPS,API, instant payouts,LP,+1% for NO INVALID BLOCKS on: June 17, 2011, 08:51:06 PM
so the pps is actually as low as 0.00005129803015564 * 0.93 = 4.7707168 × 10^-5 ?
Looks about right.  I wonder if anybody has put together a chart that shows what payout method is better for any given hash rate per average block time.  If not, I guess I could start on an XLS or something, but I just ate lunch.  Sleepy time.

PMI, but how long does it take for a payout type to kick in (ie. switching from PPS to Proportional, or vice versa)?  I was under the impression that you finish up the current block and then you get switched over by the next block.  But I just switched to Proportional and there's been 5 or 6 blocks go by since I switched and I haven't seen my BTC count move at all.  And the block history column is showing + 0.00000000 BTC as if I was still under PPS for those blocks.  Is there some kind of delay where you don't earn any BTC between switching between payout types?

I think the site/pool just went down...
Looks like it...

So we're not allowed to mine for the fun of it?  Huh
1728  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / [Solved] Can't find my wallet.dat file on: June 17, 2011, 03:03:39 AM
I can't find my wallet.dat anywhere within my /bitcoin directory (or any subdirectories therein).  I did some test transactions from the pool I'm in and sent a grand total of maybe .05 BTC to my Bitcoin address and they're showing up in the Received tab.  However, I *may* have deleted the entire /bitcoin directory and then re-installed -- I honestly can't remember.  I'm not too worried about the .05 BTC I have potentially lost.  What does worry me is if I do another transaction from my pool's website to my Bitcoin address, will it automatically create a new wallet.dat, or will the coins become lost in limbo since I don't already have a wallet.dat on my system?

Edit:  Nvm, found it in my \Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin\ directory.  Freakin Windows...
1729  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Mining without extra fans on: June 16, 2011, 11:58:04 PM
Was your 5870 used?  If so, make sure to clean out the fans and internal heat sink fins.  It'll make a world of difference if they're clogged with dust.
1730  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: NEWEGG HD 5830 Xtreme BACK IN STOCK 119$ on: June 16, 2011, 10:49:31 PM
What's the diff between this one and the $109 version?
1731  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Am I the only one who buys a video card based on looks? on: June 16, 2011, 08:33:41 PM
I feel weird admitting this, but I almost won't consider buying a card with a mid-mounted fan.  I like the monolithic looking boards with the fan at the very end, like this one:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814103182&cm_re=6970-_-14-103-182-_-Product

My only exception is the 5830 that I just ordered, simply because it was a really good price.  Anybody else favor the reference form-factor cards for the aesthetics alone?
1732  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 5870 Users! Clock Speed, Memory, Voltage, SDK and CCC Version, Flags, etc. on: June 16, 2011, 08:27:24 PM
ATI HD5870
Catalyst 11.5
SDK 2.4
975MHz core / 333MHz memory
1.250v

Why do you have the voltage at 1.250v? Is your 5870 unstable with less voltage at 975MHz?
I have no control over my voltage.  That's what the AMD GPU Tool sets it at automatically any time I specify any kind of OC value to the core.  I thought it was kinda weird, but it works.

Heh, they have more than 100 in stock!
.05 btc says they'll be gone by end of business day Smiley

1736  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: [MINER] Phoenix - New efficient, fast, modular miner **BFI_INT support!** on: June 16, 2011, 03:43:07 AM
Awesome! 1.50 totally eliminated the "miner is idle" lines I was seeing every so often!

Edit: I take that back.  I"m seeing the "miner is idle" lines again, although less frequent than before.
1737  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining still worth it? on: June 16, 2011, 02:54:11 AM
Nope.  Mining is no longer profitable.  Turn off your mining rig, disassemble it, and sell the parts.  PM me if you have any 5870s, 5970s, or 5850s.  Thanks!
1738  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: New Catalyst 11.6 Drivers available on: June 16, 2011, 02:44:15 AM
Just wanted add a 5870 datapoint:

Catalyst 11.5
Core 975MHz
Memory 333MHz
430MH/s

Catalyst 11.6
Core 975MHz
Memory 333MHz
385MH/s

Nothing else changed other than going from 11.5 --> 11.6.
1739  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 5870 running at 421 mHash/sec! on: June 16, 2011, 12:45:26 AM
ATI HD5870
Catalyst 11.5
SDK 2.4
975MHz core / 333MHz memory
1.250v (not sure how to change this lower, it automatically bumps up when I change core/memory freq)

Phoenix parameters: -u device=0 VECTORS BFI_INT AGGRESSION=14 WORKSIZE=256 -k phatk

430.xx MH/s, stable over the past 24+hrs
69-70C @ 50% fan speed with case-cover on, house A/C thermostat set at 78F

Everybody told me to try 300MHz for the memory and that kicked the MHz up quite a bit.  After a little experimenting I found the sweet spot to be 333MHz (using ATI GPU Tool) which increased the hash rate by about 6-8 MH/s over 300MHz memory clock on my system. YMMV.
