Thanks guys! I don't know what I'd do w/o this forum

Crossfire is bad for mining performance. You should run each GPU separately, both connected to monitors or having a dummy plug.
Also, download AMD GPU clocking tool to force settings such as clock rate.
I have a similar issue (just got a 5830 as my 2nd card) and I'm having issues OC'ing it. With the AMD GPU tool whenever I try to adjust the core/memory clocks I get a "Set clock failed! Please check device configuration" error. Anybody got any tips to get this one working?

Ok I think I've got things up and working now. I just have to fine tune my 5830 overclock since it's running stock right now. What do yall recommend for aggression setting (I'm using Phoenix miner) across each card? When I set aggression to 14, the entire system crawls to a halt other than each miner. I can barely move the mouse!

Mining in Windows requires that a monitor or dummy plug is plugged into each video card before it will be seen by a mining program. After you have started mining, you can unplug it, but it will need to be there every time you start mining. If you only have one monitor, you can plug it into one card, then the other. To select which card to modify, click the "Settings" button and select the desired GPU from the drop-down list.
TY! I will give that a go.

Thanks! Ok so what about "dummy plugs"? I've noticed mention of them in passing, but I never really paid much attention since I only had a single card. Do I need to run dummy plugs?
And how do I specify which GPU has "focus" in MSI Afterburner? argh

Hey guys! I just got my 5830 in today and threw it into my rig and let Win7 autodetect and apply the correct drivers to it (I'm guessing). Previously I was running a single 5870 @ 440MH/s+. So now what do I do to get my 5830 online and mining? Do I have to connect them via Crossfire? Do I just set up a separate instance of Phoenix miner for the 5830? I guess I shoulda done more research, but once you open that box from UPS, all logic goes out the window and gets replaced with Christmas-like excitement of opening new lewtz!

I still want to know what a "bun fight" is.

I just downloaded the 2.1 SDK and I observed absolutely no change in hash rates. However, my temps went from 71C down to 67C with nothing else changed but the SDK. This totally confuses me, but I'm not going to complain Did you actually uninstall the 2.4 SDK and change the device number in your miner? You'll see the device numbers change for the video cards between 2.1 & 2.4. Yes to the Uninstall, and by "device number" do you mean Platform ID? I had to specify PLATFORM=0 in my Phoenix Miner batch file after I installed 2.1.

Personally I am planning on cashing out my coins as soon as MtGox is back online. It's gonna be a fucking bun fight. I don't care if I only get a few USD per coin because this shit is going down like a sinking ship and I advise you to do the same. Would you be polishing the brass on the Titanic as it crashed and burned? I don't think so. Uh... what?

Wait, how does this work? Suppose I move my wallet over to an un-networked computer. When I do a BTC disbursement from my pool's website, how will my wallet know about it? Do the funds get put into my wallet the next time my computer goes online?
Your wallet doesn't actually hold any bitcoins. Rather, it's a private key used to sign transactions from the addresses you own. You only need your wallet in order to send bitcoins. You can send all your bitcoins to a bitcoin address belonging to an offline wallet and they'll show up in your client when you finally put that wallet online, after the client catches up with the blockchain. You can also check the balance of the address you sent to via Block Explorer, as mentioned previously in this thread. Edit:This whole "wallet" analogy, though intuitive, is proving super-confusing to people when they start trying to dig into the details. It seems like that confusion is starting to have security ramifications. Either we need to embark on a massive education campaign or we need to get some user-friendly security features built into the official client ASAP. Or else put together some sort of easy-to-use Bitcoin-branded tool for people to stand in the gap until such features make it into the official client. Ahhh, now I get it. You're right about the wallet analogy. I was mistakenly thinking it was an actual repository for my BTC Thanks for the explanation.

I too have a new, separate, never-networked computer just for creating and encrypting new wallets. Balance can be checked at Block Explorer.
Wait, how does this work? Suppose I move my wallet over to an un-networked computer. When I do a BTC disbursement from my pool's website, how will my wallet know about it? Do the funds get put into my wallet the next time my computer goes online?

automatic isnt working either. payout is just down. chill
Oh damn son.. I just did my last payout at around 9:30pm yesterday.
|
|
|
Does setting your automatic-payment threshold to something really low work?
|
|
|
Has anybody tried lowering the automatic payment threshold and see if it fires off an automatic disbursement of your BTC to your payment addy?

I dunno how easy these would be to implement, but here's my list of feature requests:
1. On the /blocks.html page, add a column that displays the time to find each block. I know you can just do the math and figure it out, but it'd be nice to have a column specifically for this. 2. On the /blocks.html page make a link to BlockExplorer for the found block 3. On the /user/profile.html and /worker/manage.html pages, add some text indicating worker status. Kinda like what Deepbit has on their /account.html page. "Workers not connected" or "Currently Mining" or whatever the status is of your pool of workers.
Keep up the good work guys, this pool pwnz.

I can't seem to get Phoenix.exe to work with MtRed.com
Here is what I'm using:
phoenix.exe -u http://myusername.myworkername:MyWorkerPassword@mtred.com:8337/ -k phatk DEVICE=0 Worksize=256 VECTORS BFI_INT AGGRESSION=12 FASTLOOP=true
This works for other pools. And I can get the guiminer.exe to work with mtred.com with the same credentials...
any help?
It's showing an error of "Failed to connect."
I don't think you need the myusername part. At least I don't recall putting that into my .bat file for Phoenix.

I'm still getting about 50% "Work queue empty, miner is idle" messages. So it effectively cuts my hash rate in half. Any way to solve this?

It's a joke for the PC (politically correct) minded. You're supposed to say human kind these days It was just a typo. He meant to say mankind. "Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mank ind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words- "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean ? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind." -- Jack Handy
