singularity will come.

the only thing that can stop it is mass extiction or something around that line (asteroids aka global killer etc. pp.)

I am sure all of Africa and south Asia just died of laughter (unless hunger or asteroid struck them first). Fifty posts, some really smart people, good topic and all you guys can come up with is Deus ex machina. You should do better. Much, much better.
1022  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Je suis fini: Charlie Hebdo cartoonist announces retirement on: May 21, 2015, 10:58:54 PM
I wouldn't say it's dead but its under attack and it varies from country to country. In some countries you can be racist to certain groups but not others. Sometimes it's not ok to discriminate against religion but perfectly fine to discriminate against homosexuals etc.

The freedom of speech is under threat from radical Islam, political correctness and the LGBT lobby. In England (which happens to be the political correctness capital of the world), the situation can be summarized as follows:

1. It is OK to discriminate against other religions such as Christianity and Hinduism, but it is not OK to do so against Judaism and Islam.

2. It is OK to discriminate against heterosexuals, but it is not OK to discriminate against homosexuals.

3. It is OK to discriminate against whites, but it is not OK to discriminate against non-whites.

4. It is OK to discriminate against males, but it is not OK to discriminate against females.

You pretty much described postmodernist West, Bryant. Rest of the world works quite differently. Good for them, as both demography and economy suggests, that West is headed for terminal decline and along with it, also its "universal values". Universal values stop being universal, when their upholders isnt able to enforce them anymore. Cant say, I am terribly griefed about that. Last fifty years brought Europe only stagnation, atomization and ageing.
1023  Other / Politics & Society / Re: China Plans First Ever Landing on the Dark Side of the Moon on: May 21, 2015, 10:53:13 PM
I don't think that they have the technology to do all this. Most of their space technology is stolen from various countries, especially from the former USSR. Right now, only two countries are capable of conducting manned missions to the moon. They are the United States and Russia. China is a long way off.

If F-35s debacle taught us something, its the fact, that Chinese engineers can copy and modernize US technology faster, than Americans are able to develop and finish it.
1024  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why is Yanis Varoufakis so praised? he is just a socialist puppet on: May 21, 2015, 10:50:40 PM
GreenStox,

he is in position of rebel, an underdog. So what, if one socialist is fighting another 27 (EU)? Your empathy needs a boost, man. I am also quite appaled by your rather immature way of responding to other people notes. If you arent interested in discussion, you shouldnt start it in the first place.

Seems like silence before storm. Volume of this "growth" has been quite weak so far. I´d love to hear opinion of local elders, though.
1026  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Self-Driving Trucks Are Going to Hit Us Like a Human-Driven Truck on: May 19, 2015, 10:04:10 PM
BADecker,

government responsibility is out of question, no official will be held criminally accountable. Ever heard about officials being jailed, because they bought non-functional armament or accessory for their country?

Your idea is idealistic, though.
1027  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How to end boom and bust: make cash illegal on: May 19, 2015, 09:55:27 PM
Incredible and creepily plausible too. I really don't think this is going to cut it in non nanny states though. An awful lot of parliaments would end up burnt to the ground.

It wouldn't be the death of cash that caused it, it would be the idea of the government being the only place to hold your money. And shit tons of people around the world deal only in foreign cash anyway.

This is a direct attempt to control every conceivable aspect of the lives of a populace. If your bank account is fully in control of your government then lives, business and causes can be strangled at the click of a button.

I choose elected government, rather than non-elected banksters. You are not taking power away from gov, instead you are giving rest of it to (private) banking sector. Every transaction, every gift you will ever give or recieve will be accounted for by people, who see you only as cash cow. Good job.

If virtual currency only solutions were that good to begin with, we would not have a discussion about BANNING its (far less controllable) alternatives.

Furthermore, it will give responsible groups (again banks and corporates) absolute control and power over economic boom/bust cycle and market manipulations. It wouldnt end, rest of the world would just have far less possibilities to defend itself.
1028  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Donetsk, Kharkov, Lugansk - way to Russia. on: May 19, 2015, 09:51:11 PM
Lol... the Germans seems to have given up on the junta. The official German mouthpiece reporting that the inhabitants are happy under the rule of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics.

http://www.dw.de/donetsk-luhansk-the-peoples-republics-one-year-on/a-18444476

And for the first time a non-Russian aid convey has reached Donetsk:

Germany is like ocean cruise ship. Slow to turn, but overall choosing most rational way of reaching its target - stability in Europe in this case.
1029  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The United States is where regime change is most badly needed. on: May 19, 2015, 09:49:01 PM
Frankly, US might be the only country safe from regime change on the planet. Reason? It has no US embassy on its soil.
1030  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Self-Driving Trucks Are Going to Hit Us Like a Human-Driven Truck on: May 19, 2015, 09:46:42 PM
The world needs to progress and we need to move on. There were people who were against the use of computers as well as it would lead to unemployment and many other factors but still the world has accepted it as a positive change. Similarly self driven cars might help to reduce the number of accidents and would be safer for people to cross the roads.

If the autonomous car is faulty and kills people, who will you hold responsible? Onboard CPU?

Vladimir Putin has been described as a “czar” by fans and critics alike, but a group of Cossacks in St. Petersburg have gone a step further, erecting a statue of Putin in the form of a Roman emperor.

The 20-centimeter [7.9-inch] bust, erected by a group that supports Putin, depicts the Russian leader, head turned imperiously, wearing Roman laurels, armor and a cloak.

“In this image is the symbol of our Russian democracy,” Andrei Polyakov, who heads the Irbis Orthodox Union of Cossacks, which commissioned the statue for their new headquarters outside St. Petersburg, Putin’s hometown, told Russian media.

Yes, because western modus operandi (tax payer paying for the monuments, instead of their private funding like in this case) is so much more "admirable". Problem is in you, not your countrymen.
1032  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Japanese porn industry hit by shortage of men on: May 19, 2015, 09:38:54 PM

I don't agree when you said they are immigrants, because Japan is one of the most expensive country for cost of living. That's why Japan just has little amount of immigrants. How could person of other country want to living in a expensive place like Japan.

I live in the UK. It's one of the most expensive places to live in the whole wide world. Hundreds of thousands of people arrive from 'cheap' countries every year looking for a piece of the action.

It's nothing to do with the Japanese cost of living, it's all to do with their determination to remain a homogeneous society. In the long run that approach is likely to cause them serious demographic problems.

Your understanding of demographics is rather funny. Japanese demo problems are result of clash of its traditional values being heavily warped by western consumeralism post-war. Same case with Germany.

By your logic, Africa should start importing millions of foreigners (Indians perhaps? Euros are in short supply), so they escape extinction.
1033  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Japanese porn industry hit by shortage of men on: May 19, 2015, 09:35:50 PM
Where to apply? I accept minimum salary for this job. Do they accept non japanese?

Japanese dont solve their problems by importing wagons of foreigners. I am willing to bet, that they rather try to master cloning, than letting their culture disappear.
1034  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Akhand Bharat - United India : Should it happen ? on: May 08, 2015, 07:19:32 PM
From outsiders perspective, it seems as India in the past 50 years expended most of its energy on staying intact and not collapsing under its own population growth, aswell as religious fundamentalism. I have hard time imagining how India would want to integrate sunni, nuclear capable Pakistan.

On the other hand, should such (unlikely) union ever happen and some sort of "area of influence) agreement is reached with China, I see no reason, why India couldnt be the superpower of tommorrow.
1035  Other / Politics & Society / Re: My mommy bought me an education, am I smart now? on: May 08, 2015, 07:16:01 PM
I partially disagree. "Bought" education is only worth in government and some corporate positions.

Medical and industry people with university education in their respective fields were never worth more, than today. This trend will likely continue as these people get paid for results, rather than credentials.
1036  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 08, 2015, 07:06:08 PM
monero are going nowhere but down Wink

If thats the case I'm happy with it, maybe because monero isnt going anywhere and I want to buy moar.

I admit, the currency is far more resilient, than I gave it credit for, I sold them prematurely last november.
1037  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do Atheists hate Religion ? on: May 08, 2015, 06:59:45 PM
Prosperity,

evidently nothing, since you "smart person" are incapable of having argument not engulfed in hatred.

Burning Quran out of spite is "mortal sin" in Islam, as is bad-mouthing somebody for their skin color in the west. Why? Becauseee...

The fact, that western "light-bearers" are not churned out by mosques, but by universities doesnt change this paradigm. Both are based in irrational ideologies without regards for science, both shield themselves with love and piece, while their fervent supporters are often quite violent. In fact, Ill give Islam a slack, since it survived several devastating depopulations of its key regions, no such longevity exists among modern day secular Westerners.

The point is, no matter the ideology, it cannot "unbastard" a damaged brain of an individual. Or mob.
1038  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What are some movies you watched that changed the way you view the society? on: May 08, 2015, 06:52:24 PM
THEY LIVE
1988

Ditto, also Apocalypse Now changed my outlook on war forever.

I love Grave of Fireflies, but its that kind of movie, you just dont want to see again.

Movies like Limitless or Fight Club are pretty inspirational, if you are underarchiever in your twenties, but dont have much to offer, if you are outside of this group.

Brazil is pretty much the only worthy movie adaptation of Orwells 1984 (despite claiming not to be one). Great, great movie.

Untypically, I really liked HK "City hero" movie about training and exploit of HK swat team. Made me really appreciate the hard work these young men do, to protect society.
1039  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Baltimore burns. Why? on: May 08, 2015, 06:40:55 PM
If you want the rioting to stop then start holding the police accountable for their actions, this is hard because most police departments in America has a gang mentality mindset of "us or them." So 9/10 nothing long-term happens to the officers that are being punished, sure you can dismiss him...he's got another position already waiting for him in the separate county a few miles down the way. So in order to hold officers accountable I purpose the solutions that I read about in an article on zero-hedge start hitting them where it hurts the most... their pocketbook. Taking money from their paychecks and their pensions this will ensure that other officers will police each other when their all held responsible as a department for the bad officers actions.

At the same time, that cop involved in shooting of Mr. Brown was freed by court, at the same time, couple of states down road black cop shot white teenager (who was also agressive). No riots by white mobs, no media storm. How does your emotional argument explain this difference?
1040  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do Atheists hate Religion ? on: May 08, 2015, 06:37:25 PM
Prosperity,
you are simply mistaken. Indeed there many variations on practice of Islam or Christianity (two religions I am most familiar with), while there also exist many variations on national socialism and communism (or rather international socialism), aswell as liberal democracy. All of those systems have rather strict hierarchies and binding taboos, vices and virtues.

Interracial sex is taboo in NS, seen indefferently in communism or Islam (aslong as the pair is married), while it is virtue in libdem.

Arming yourself and fighting in defense of faith or family is considered virtue in NS, communism or Islam, but is seen as taboo in christianity and libdem.

Premarital sex is seen indifferently in atheist systems, while religious ones frown upon it.

Similar differences exist in views on antisemitism, drug use, eugenics, social state, technology and role of a family.

Etc. Etc.
