1121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XMR] rpietila Monero Economics thread on: August 18, 2014, 09:57:58 AM
So did we finally broke the downtrend? Monero seems to be remarkably stable over the last few days, while almost every other crypto is tanking.
1122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero (XMR) Speculation thread on: August 17, 2014, 06:20:44 PM
Coinmarketcap removed Monero?

Do a ctrl+f, it's there. #59 wtf Sad
Why are you so sad? Something wrong?
Monero's rating is getting lower very fast and they can do nothing to save it from falling down. I think the only thing they can do is blame mystic "BCN shills".

But since you want to play this way watch it fly from #59 to #14 in a day Wink
In a day? What? Coinmarketcap is telling that XMR is not even at 40s and it lost some percents (-5.83 %)

Are you retarded? There are 2 800 000 XMR already in private hands. Coinmarketcap is only able to register half million. Thatīs why Monero is currently ranked 40-something and not number 13. Less, than 20% of its coins are counted in.

Screw up, if I ever saw one. Today their system registers only 6% of already mined XMR.

Bitcoin seems to be locked in downtrend, that could last for weeks. That could make Monero extremely attractive as a hedge.

Just so you all know. Trading volume of Monero is third now, only Litecoin and Bitcoin have bigger volume. Incredibly bullish.

Monero seems to be quite unstable. What's wrong with the price?

Actually, it is remarkably stable since start, no large pumps and dumps along the way. Mean average price rising since may.

Really?  Have you looked at the chart?  From a high of .01111 to a next dump low of .0024xxx.  I'd call that a large pump and dump.

So perhaps, you didnt notice, that just last year in april BTC lost 78% of its value in correction, right? ;-) Yes, I am watching charts and making investment decisions with them in mind.

1132  Economy / Speculation / Re: google trends is showing increased interest on: July 16, 2014, 10:57:21 PM
Google trends is a shitty short term indicator for bitcoin. In the bearish month April there were a lot more searches for bitcoin than in the bullish period of late May & early June.

It is a lagging indicator for sure, although the similarity between May/June/July of 2013, marked at point 'C' to May/June/July(partial) of 2014 is interesting:

Again this is almost entirely driven by price, but this chart does reflect the same feeling I had last year at this time that BTC is being oddly quiet.  The difference is this year it's been quiet with almost entirely good news, consistently.

Calm before storm?

Recovery of monero starting. Rock bottom and (in relative terms) massive wall at 0.002.

How high is it going to go this time? Last top was 0.01, and the last bottom (assuming we are heading up) was higher than the previous bottom.

I am actually calculating with your previous prediction of 0.02 as maximum this year. It is well thought prediction. I will start selling only after we pass 0.01 (previous ATH).

The conception of DRK was illegitimate, I will not buy it for this reason alone.
The conception of many important things/companies/groups can be argued to have been "illegitimate", yet they continue to shape our world. Your personal feelings are quite irrelevant when it comes to investing. The market cares for results, not whether someone thinks it's fair.

I think, I am not alone in curiousness about your trading results, since you are ignoring advice from far more experienced traders so easily.
1136  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: July 10, 2014, 11:27:14 AM
Monero supporters are almost as bad as the religious cuckoos that deny evolution. What part of cannot scale don't you understand? Have fun trading your proof of concept amongst yourselves. Just hope the community doesn't grow too big, or you won't even be able to send coins!

Same thing was said about bitcoin not more, than one year ago.
1137  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: July 08, 2014, 08:59:06 AM
I believe we are near rock bottom. It was either reached yersteday at sub 2 dollar price or there is going to be one last leg down in couple of days.
1138  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: June 27, 2014, 12:50:48 PM
Thank you, that is relieving. I am aware of possible security threats, but current lack of gui for Monero and instructions like "update your wallet exactly like this or lose your coins" seem downright nightmarish to me. Again, thank you.
1139  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: June 27, 2014, 11:29:27 AM
I apologize in advance for noobish question, but it is possible to buy Monero on poloniex without bothering with source software of XMR (frankly, tutorials seem like moonspeak to me)? I am not interested in mining or cold storage. First time poloniex user.

Thank you all for answer.
