How safe is it to transfer NXT with the current attacks?

not safe. pretty sure I got ripped off.

What is the problem?

idk I bought and withdrew nxt over 24 hours ago but haven't received them. dgex said the first withdraw was completed, and doesn't say the status for the other. the client says I have 0 transactions, but theres all these unconfirmed transactions for accounts that aren't mine. I also tried going to the coinarea faucet and they said they sent me 1 coin which I haven't got either. im positive I used the right address#, they match up on dgex and in my client. it could just be that im a noob though. It took me a long time to get everything installed, and I was told to go to   https://localhost:7875/ because its more secure but I can only get on http://localhost:7874/

Could you please provide your Nxt wallet address? (the number next to the lock)

Does anyone think there would be a problem with scheduling a cron job to restart the Java app every so many hours? Or what is the safest way to restart the process without risking corruption of the blockchain?

so it is normal for me to have to run the java file every time I get back on the client?

http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=3000&acc=3662269097817803698

There should be 661 Nxt on this account, but hte amount in the blockchain explorer is 0, which I really canīt understand. Anyone with an idea?

Note: Due to ongoing node attacks, data shown here should be considered with caution. Data reorganization in progress.

Thanks, didnīt see it before.

@ ferment  I sent 20,000 nxt to your donation address, 18000 for 6 nodes...2000 for your efforts..get to work  Wink

HA! Thank you. That almost makes another 10 for the yet-to-be-determined data center.

Votes? Hong Kong, Sydney, Europe?

Good times!

I would like to do something similar to support setting up nodes or VPS. Don't have the technical knowledge myself but am happy to donate some nxt. I can donate 15K for this, but who should I send it to? ferment do you have capacity to do more? Or EmoneyRu?

Yes, I can do more. It will take a few days (particularly with Christmas coming), but my goal is a 100+ node network in 10 geographic locations by Jan 3. We're almost halfway there!

Send donations to 11243542237777034551 and I'll run 1 node per 3000 nxt until the end of March.

Thank you!

CFB: will those 100 VPS help? How much would be needed to make the network safe for the beginnings?

Guys, I'd like to know how many of u, who run Nxt on a dynamic IP, have 7874 TCP port open for incoming connections. I'm going to get rid of "myAddress", peers will try to connect back to each other to make Nxt network more symmetrical.

+1

1739068987193023818 is buying a shitload of aliases  Tongue

Alias mining is still going on strong.

Where to see all aliases belonging to an account?

Does it help the network when I am running the client on my laptop? It is running almost 24/7, but am using it from work/home/airports (am traveling a lot), but am always running it when I am online and even if I sleep. Smiley
Does it makes a sense? I generated 2 blocks so far in the last couple of weeks..

People were extremely unhappy with the fact that the organization behind Ripple owned all coins and therefore they had an instant market cap of (all coins) x (price). And it's the same with NXT. A small group of people control all existing coins, all the coins that will ever exist. While everyone else has to buy NXT or beg for some NXTin some giveaway or bounty.

Not only that, but, the more coins you have, the more you make in forging... to the rich will get richer.

Try mining Bitcoins. Or gold. Then tell me how much you'd have to invest to mine anything. And unlike Bitcoin in nxt no one has tech advantage (bleeding edge hardware) to mine.

Alternative to 'rich get richer' is communism. And guess what? Rich get richer there too.

Okay, so in both BTC and NXT, the more money you have, the more money you make.

But in BTC, no one owns the remaining 10 million coins that haven't been mined yet, whereas in NXT, a small groups owns all the coins that will exist. This is why, NXT is closer to Ripple than it is to BTC.

I can tell you right now that small group of people owning ASIC farms today also own all those future 10mil bitcoins.
Totally agree on that

CfB is my VPS working?
I can send you funds to add 5 more if you can or anyone else who offers!

Hi!
If you still need I can help you to add VPS.

I would also invest in a VPS if someone would help me where to do it and how to configure it to support Nxt

Something is wrong. No new block is getting generated (at least not in my UI), and there are a lots of unconfirmed transactions..

We still need exchanges yes, because at this point we are still getting money in to Nxt

Nxt also uses Colored Coins, which is a way of saying you can use Nxt to trade Bitcoins, Litecoins, USD, etc

A colored Nxt can represent a different value as the user sees fit. The network is announced, and the value put in. I imagine there will be a whole exchange for colored coins where you could simply state what you wish to value it as, ie 1Btc, and deposit that amount, then whoever you sent that specific coin to would be able to redeem it for that original value

Mining is a power wasting arms race in Bitcoins, as soon as new miners are released they are obsolete. Nxt is the opposite. Wealth has no value if you don't spend it. If EVERYONE held all their Nxt no one would transfer and no one would make fees.

From as I understand it, using colored coins allows the value of the 1Billion cap to be breached. You can convert btc into a colored coin and then transfer it, paying a forging fee worthy of the transaction, so you only need 1nxt to transfer a lot of different amounts, plus you pay forging fees, and the holders earn interest for their supporting the network

as someone else wrote, it costs money to mine Btc, ASICS, power, and this will keep going up,making it a doomed venture, as well as less secure when someone with bad intents takes over 51% of the mining.

Nxt takes Nxt to forge. Which is still cheap. and will not be diluted or caught in an arms race. and will not get less secure.

That 5btc purchase will get you around 400k Nxt now. Thats .04% of all hashing power FOREVER, which will give you 40 blocks a day, which when this thing is really churning could earn 100's of Nxt a day.

For 5btc. Wow.
MUCH WOW

so money

Please don´t forget to comment here to show Cryptsy that we would like to have Nxt on the site:

https://cryptsy.freshdesk.com/support/discussions/topics/44434

And please also "LIKE" the idea on the top of the thread!

Hi Guys,

I know that it is not that thread, but I a tried to push Nxt wherever I could. Beside being an active community member I also try to add value by translating stuff, sending Nxt to newcomers for free just to let them test Nxt and whatever comes in my way where I feel that could help the community. Now I would like to ask someone for a favor. I would like to buy around 100 000 NxT for 1 BTc, which is obviuosly under the market price as of today. Is there anyone who is willing to make that transfer?
