Who is leading the tests of the AE?

Who can tell us we have tested everything and we can go live!

McJavar?

I´ve set up tests at TestPad, sent out the access to all known users who wrote me a PM that they would like to test.
Unfortunately the Test Management System is barely used by anyone, although it is a very good tool to track progress and bugs.

I think Nodecoin is a cool extra feature. Even if it will be worth nothing Smiley
Maybe we can think about a new service using Nodecoins, like writing a cool interface for messaging and using Nodecoin as payment? Anyone interested? Smiley

I should have local (trustless) signing online tomorrow (no password sent to the server). A big thank you to CFB, Antonios, BloodyRookie and Jaguar0625 for all their help with this Smiley

What does this mean for us?

A bit of positivity !

Here some donation I did

I usually don't say it, you know... because I want to stay anonymous

Thank you, stranger! Keep up the good work!!

Which address do I need to use to access the webui for Nxt?

localhost:7874 is not working for me.

Is it good or bad for Nxt?

P.S. I wish you would stop being so negative, it is kind of a downer

If only price at the moment helped....

If it was pointad at me:
I am critizing some views and ideas, I am not negative. These are two different things.
467  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: March 13, 2014, 09:00:39 AM

Definitely not good for NXT if it becomes popular.
What people don't realize in this community is that popularity & community is the alpha and omega of success.
People actually think that if NXT (which is 100% open source) is good enough "technically" then the rest doesn't matter.
There is no changes in hoarding, no changes in incentives, community is shrinking, price is falling etc. and nothing happens.
These big hoarders have a collective IQ in double digits.

It was more a theoretical question...

I was surfing through the altcoins earlier and read about some interesting development and innovations here and there. And then I was thinking what the crypto-community would be able to achieve if we (or at least the developer and innovators) would unite our power, knowledge and resources and would work on one crypto... It would be awesome with functions and capabilities way beyond our imagination.

But people are greedy. Some want more money, other more power so the above scenario will never happen. Unfortunatelly.

Nxt :: Asset Exchange Test

I have set up a test management tool using Test Pad for the Asset Exchange Testing.

Please check out the thread I´ve created for this purpose.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=507444

I will report all recorded bugs to Jean-Luc.

If you feel it´s usefull what I am doing, I´d be happy to accept some Nxt.

Hi All!

There is not much activity on TestPad, although Jean-Luc is also following the tests made on there. Please get active and join the tests to get more structure in testing out all possible cases of the AE.

Hi! I´d use the site if youßd accept Nxt.
Nxt is still in development, with a huge and very active community and pretty cool functions coming soon, like messaging and the asset exchange shic hare already tested by the community before we set it live.
So I am pretty sure that Nxt will grow.

Getting nodecoins automatically is really cool. But someone explain to me when real nodecoins start what is going to give them value? Isn't it a false
assumption that miners will forge to get nodecoins?
Right now miners have so many options of which coin to mine and they choose based on how
easy the difficulty is and how much they can pump and dump it for.
That's why new coins get mined quickly. The miners know there will always
be someone dumb enough to think "ejaculate coin" will be the next big thing and everyone is going to use it to buy groceries so therefore I must
buy some on cryptsy.
What reason would miners have to "mine" nodecoin? Who's going to buy them?

It's only a TEST !

Duh, read the bold part. Its a test now, I'm talking about when we are live on main and nodecoins start for real.

imagine you could mine nodeBitCoins, real easy and cheap. What would this do? RAISE IN PRICE because of arbitrage.
nodecoin value will follow NXT value, and if you mine them, you will get some.

Hey brooklynbtc,

hmmm I kinda get what you're saying. I am no expert but if you see it and James who obviously gave birth to it sees it then I can't
say anything except I hope it does what its suppose to because that would be brilliant if it did.

all these alt coins DO NOT have VALUE because they are new and cool (they BUBBLE for those reasons)
the reason any coins, crypto or fiat , (especially PoW coins) have value because WE decide that the value of what went into making them is TRANSFERRABLE and VALUABLE to others in free exchange

Nodecoins are valuable because they will be paid out to nodes who are serving to support the network.
Imagine if the mobile phone company said we're not going to build ANY towers, BUT if you run a tower at your house, we will pay you for doing this.

NXT is decentralized, so there is no COMPANY to build the towers. There is just users. So nodecoin will PAY them all to secure the network.
Forging is the same idea, except that forging proves the blockchain, and with PoS you need to HOLD coins to make coins.

PoW, like in nodecoin, will allow anyone to point their computer, pi, cubbie, or tv stick and no matter how much NXT, you can just get paid daily for mining nodes.

I've had it online for 90 minutes and pulled in 40 nodecoins..

But they would pay you with FIAT which you can spend on bitchizz and coke, while you can´t buy anything for nodecoin.

But how to get it up and running on Windows?

sorry - this kind of thing is difficult to explain gently ... you know, about the Windows 'Operating System' ??

mcjavar is asking how to run a native version on windows.
Only few windows people will bother setting up a virtual linux machine to run the software.

Thank you for understanding my problem. Smiley

Sorry about the cheap Windows joke.

the 'run.sh' file has these two lines:

gcc -o get_dogeaddr get_dogeaddr.c -lcurl
gcc -o nodeminer nodeminer.c -lcurl

Which means - it won't run on Windows afaik, because gcc is not available in blank form.

So you get to either use a windows compiler, or use ... mingw and its environment.

And then there is the proper curl-lib

Truth is, I don't know how to do this in Windows - you'll just have use some kind of linux: mingw or VM

Thank you l8orre!

hey Gramps, PoW gives value because the network needs securing. Nodecoin will not be worth much ever, but it will be easy to make, and serve as more of a direct payout than Forging blocks.

This will help the naysayers and minnows who accuse NXT of being a premined scam, and those who dont want to leave their NXT online.

you could set up a node farm, and HELP the network and earn a lot of coins.

But he is right... what for, if it is worthless? What will give it value?

Thanks.

Maybe I missed something...

Hi guys,

This is Nodecoin, that James has developed. We need to test it, but I have no idea how I should make it work on Windows:

It is for testnet the following is how to get it compiled and running from command line

git clone https://github.com/jl777/multigateway
cd multigateway
chmod +x run.sh
./run.sh
./nodeminer <NXTacct> <passphrase>

I cloned it to my drive, but what now?
Any suggestions?
