Node, Desktop, RaspPi, all up to date

Whoever has problems keeping their RPis up to date, you might want to consider using my automatic public node update script. Also, maybe somewhat increase the pullThreshold in the config, so that you're less likely still to end up on a wrong chain.

Add: If you start building a testnet, post here or PM me on how to get involved.
I would slso like to get involved in testing!
1084  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 26, 2013, 09:42:42 AM
So, let me get this straight

1,000,000,000 (1 billion) initial coins
73 initial adopters
so roughly 13.7 Million each (assume equal distribution)
at 21 BTC Total
0.000000021 BTC per coin
current market rate is about 0.00008500

So, it’s that’s about 4,000x, or 400,000% more what the early adopters paid for? And it has only been a month? Are you serious? 400,000% returns? Now, this sounds too good to be true.

Am I missing something? So, at the only exchange trading Nxt, us regular folks have to pay 400,000% more than what early adopters paid for? Too bad fools can't do simple math. Correct me if I'm wrong!

I went to put an order in for 0.00000300, (That's still 14,200% more than what early adopters paid for), and the exchange WOULDN'T let me, saying that I can only put an order at maximum +/- 30% of last hours price... WOW

Does anyone want to sell me some Nxt's at 0.00000300 each? PM me, since I can't even put the order in on the exchange.

Seriously, I hope people are doing some maths on these numbers and aren't just buying these blindly. I'm all for great ideas, and this sounds great on the face of it, but 400,000% returns in a month is unreal. Prove me wrong.

The math is quite simple

Before pre-launch: 1 BTC ~~ 50M NXT
Right after pre-launch: 1 BTC ~~ 1M NXT coz risk went down
Alias System was launched, DDoS attacks were counteracted, bugs were fixed... All these things increase confidence in success of Nxt. Higher confidence == higher price.

AND the great community! Smiley

I am arriving to the conclusion that maybe I should invest some Nxt to employ some developers for coding, designing and running a full functional Nxt/BTC exchange for me. And I can pay up to 1 million for an excellent implementation (+internal poker client attached). Just an idea Wink

We should have a secure full automated exchange for Nxt, otherwise it will not get wide adoption at initial stages Sad

That is a good idea, but imagine what could have been happen yesterday when the guy generated billions of nxt out of the air, if there was an automated exchange... For now, it is better not to have everything automated I think... What do you think about that?

Yeah, just wait until Max Keiser and Bill Still start reporting about NXT.

Will they?
1087  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 26, 2013, 12:21:15 AM
On the subject of NXT distribution.....I've been reading alt-coin fora til my eyes bleed over the last few days and distribution is one of the very few, and possibly the only really critical issue with NXT at this moment.

The price is going nuts, which is good for NXT holders pockets, but we need exponential growth of NXT users right now, not just a pretty market cap.

(This is speaking as someone who only got in for a quick profit at first, but now i'm converted.....): the price needs to stabilize for a while, keep the market fed and bring more people in.

So start throwing the NXT out there, stakeholders, it'll be good for NXT in the long term.

(U could always start by giving me a few million to, er......distribute)

Gotta love sitting on most of the 100% pre-generated coins and seeing it rise 5000% within a month, with only one exchange owned by the owner of the system, eh? Grin

Who doesn't? Smart stuff indeed! Grin

1: there is no owner
2: Dgex is run by a company, which belongs to one of the stakeholders (everyone is a stakeholder who owns at least 1 nxt)
3: you can also start your exchange if you would like to
4: there is a thread on cryptsy asking them to add nxt
5: look at the trading volume. 1000 btc, only at dgex.. ( but i agree that distribution could be much better)

Hi! Just wanted to remind you, that there is a guy on the Nxtalk chat (http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=#) named j0b , who helped last night to investigate on the issue with the huge transaction fee and the incorrect amounts bug. He already discovered a bug before (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345619.msg4102610;topicseen#msg4102610) with ZjP.
Although 2Kool4Skewl and me provided his accountnumber earlier and asked for some bounties, he only received 650 Nxt. I would like to ask everyone, especially the guys with 10+M accounts to appreciate such contribution and send some Nxt to j0b and all fellows who help discover bugs and help this project succeed. If we loose them, we loose the project.

His account number is 13570469120032392161

Thank you!

ps: I´ve already sent him some to show my appreciation

I would really like to hear from other people who tried NXT on their Pi. What are the optimal settings, what can be tweaked performance-wise etc

There have been quite a few downloads of my all-in-one package, so there should be multiple tests going on.

I am working on it but it will be  few hours before I can report.

Also this place has FREE Rasp-Pi co-location in Austria: http://www.edis.at/en/server/colocation/austria/raspberrypi/

I am living in Vienna. Let me know if I can do anything.

Holy crap what a busy day. I take a few hours off to open and give gifts and then come back to this!!!!!! Smiley

My VPS are now all up to date and working fine.

Any you are also telling me I should setup all my Raspberry Pis too??

Gonna be a long night with little sleep! Smiley

Seems so. I already ordered some PIs and waiting for them to get delivered Smiley

Would you be interested to get NXT work on iPhone and iPad? I could work on that. What are your opinions?

It would be great to see NXT on other operating systems. I am not the right guy for iOS, but there are coders out there for sure, who will be able to code this. Let's contact them everywhere.

That would be more than great!

If we need changes in NRS to resolve issues related to PI, let me know, plz.

BAM!   Grin

I have just ordered my Raspberry PI Smiley
1094  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 25, 2013, 02:25:18 PM
I love this. Thousands of little Raspberry Pis around the world running for NXT.

Me too. That would be a small technical revolution.

I gave this thought a few extra minutes and now I am sure that THIS WOULD BE TREMENDOUS!

We need this.

Why? Whu would nxt runnin on raspberry pi be such a big thing? (Im a noob)
Because many nodes are needed right now to fight off a DDoS attack that is probably going to get much worse in coming days.   There's a million raspberry Pi's already in public hands that could be organized into a huge web of NXT nodes, with the secondary benefit of bringing MANY new users into the NXT fold.  Plus, the Pi is so cheap it would be relatively cost effective to field large numbers as needed by the core NXT faithful.

I am off as a self-assigned project over the next hours and days to investigate who has put the NXT client on the Pi - and even give it a go myself.  I'll report back if I find anything of use.

Thank you for your efforts!

Well, guys. I deployed a fast work-around. BCNext is out of reach now (Xmas, hehe). Dunno what he would do, I just left everything in blockchain as it is (for the history).

But the nxt generated using the bug cannot be spent anymore? What happened to the ones that were already sent across the system?
See https://nextcoin.org/index.php/topic,1228.0/topicseen.html

Cfb should get in touch with him!

This is fast work-around. I'm searching for the block where all this happened. I think we'll start from that block again.

I think it started here:

In big masses at least.

Luckily there is no automatic NXT<->BTC exchange yet, and shouldn't be for a while, less damage from such bugs.

Btw, someone told this to DGEX owner?

Yes, j0b and me, but we are not sure if he got our messages!
