401  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CommunityCoin (COMM) Fair & FREE Distribution | Pure PoS | No Premine! on: April 01, 2014, 02:24:53 PM
This looks actually very interesting...

I would be interested in creating a homapge for it for the Hungarian users.
I already liked (and commented on) your Facebook page and am curious where this will lead to. Smiley

Looking forward to see a real fair distribution.

We would have a speaker position available on the Central Europen Bitcoin Expo in Vienna to talk about Nxt. http://cebexpo.net/
But we need someone with a better technical understanding of Nxt, than I do. We need to reply them today.

Would anyone be interested in doing it? I think this would be a great opportunity for Nxt and it would be a shame not to have someone talking there. The vent will be in ENGLISH, so non-german spakers are also welcome.

Have you ever been to Vienna rickyjames or NxtMinnow? Wink

Or do we have some slideshows or a Prezi about the general functionality of Nxt so I can do the pitch?
Looking forward to you reply, guys!

any news on the ipo?
404  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty Protocol, Client and Coin (built on Bitcoin) - Official on: March 22, 2014, 12:56:41 AM
I am trying to get BoottleXCP working, but I am stuck at block 281034. And it was a pain to even get there, as I had to restart the client after every 20-30 blocks.
Anyone made the same experience?

crazy wall 0.00007000    1,581,716.425    110.72015
It seems that some rich guy is acting against price drops: the same wall was at 0.00004, then at 0.00005, it just moves...

I just love him Wink

We need guys in the marketing of Nxt who are native english speakers. I really appreciate the work of salsacz, but in some of his writinigs he uses phrases that can be misinterpreted or that are simply not appropriate.
We also need speakers for Nxt. Speakers with technical background who are able to represent Nxt in videos, interviews, people like rickyjames and Anon. But more of them, and also ones who are ready to travel to conferences.

I am in talks with the Vienna Bitcoin Conference guys, they already offered me to talk about Nxt, which is great, but I won´t be able to tell them more about it, than how cool it´s features are, because I have no clue about the cryptographical, mathematical or coding aspects. So here, for example, I would need someone to get with me on the stage and take over where it is getting more techy.

I can do all of this.  On top of my career as a professional actor (and the implied comfort with media work that comes with such employment), I have an engineering degree.  I understand Nxt quite well, and have been here since the first week of December.  I'm not a computer scientist or a cryptographer, but I know enough to represent Nxt very well.

I've decided NOT to head to Bitcoin Expo in Toronto due to its Bitcoin-centric content.  But I'm happy to speak to anyone about Nxt.

What about coming to Vienna? Smiley You can stay on our couch Smiley

Coinsumm.it Public Relations would like to know who I would like to interview. What does the Nxt community think? Should I interview Vitalik Buterin or Anthony Di Iorio of Ethereum or should I interview Kashmir Hill of Forbes or Shakil Khan of CoinDesk?

I donīt really get it. You will make an interview with one of the guys, or you will attend an interview with one of them as a counterparty?

Guerre? je ne suis pas d'accord.

You cannot fight with knives against tanks.
hum, with AT we will have weapon for fight against ethereum. We cannot ''underestimate'' them power for attract people. i see 3 weeks ago a lot of young people really happy to mine ether in their testnet.  They have a really good public relation and ''show them face to public'' .So public can associate ''real human'' with this project.  Maybe we need to do ''our coming out'' and go out our confort zone. All nxt group of java developper stay in shadow (me too also), this is only reflexion : can we stay like this Huh.  Ether is now your main competitor.

The ethereum guys are VERY effective at appealing to peoples emotions. Watch the high production videos and the way they present themselves. They are able to speak very fervently during presentations. That is currently their strength that Nxt lacks.

There would also actus be analyzed . actus open source smart contracts.

This software Ethereum is based

The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation awarded Stevens Institute of Technology a grant to work on the proposal entitled "Creating a standard language for financial contracts and a contract-centric analytical framework". The standard follows the theoretical groundwork laid down in the book "Unified Financial Analysis" (1) - UFA.The goal of this project is to build a financial instrument reference database that represents virtually all financial contracts as algorithms that link changes in risk factors (market risk, credit risk, and behavior, etc.) to cash flow obligations of financial contracts. This reference database will be the technological core of a future open source community that will maintain and evolve standardized financial contract representations for the use of regulators, risk managers, and researchers.
The objective of the project is to develop a set of about 30 unique contract types (CT’s) that represent virtually all existing financial contracts and which generate state contingent cash flows at a high level of precision. The term of art that describes the impact of changes in the risk factors on the cash flow obligations of a financial contract is called “state contingent cash flows,” which are the key input to virtually all financial analysis including models that assess financial risk.

Hmmm, Cryptsy is at it again...

Deposited 7500 NXT, 22 hours ago and it is still not added to my balance.
It arrived, minutes after sending, at the correct address. After some e-mails back and forth this was their final response:

------
Thank you for providing the information needed.

NXT deposits and withdraws are delayed. NXT is a new coin that we have introduced. There will be some delays as our technical team along with the developers of this coin are working hard to make this new coin run smoothly. Please bear with us as we work to improve your trading experience.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

 Angry

You mean Craptsy Smiley
They suck big time!!

I got the same message when I had some issues with them.
They solved it within 24 hours, so only patience will help you in this case.

Ricky I would appreciate if you return the NXTcashoperatingfund to me because I decided to give this 1M NXT to a common fund the early adopters/big stakeholders committee will form (official announcement in the following hours) so it can be handled by the community for various projects (including anonymity features) - better to do it more officially rather than James handling the whole chunk, I am sure he will agree..

EDIT: The community should be aware that a big part of the early adopters will ONLY fund from now on in this way - the committee is made exactly for this reason, transparency, fairness and optimal management of resources (both ours and the community's).

Of course, if some insidious large NXT holders wanted to ensure your scenario, all they would have to do is offer a matching donation of NXT to the mining outputs.

I think just a % above to ensure highest ROI would do the trick, and be sustainable for the longest period.  Then again, I might just be thinking this way because I'm already completely jealous of those of you who can mine in these NXT pools.

I dont like hearing about mining related to Nxt.But i just  consider it automatizing a way of people buying Nxt with their resources. We should think if Nxt mining should be encouraged. If yes.. this idea is quite similar of what nodecoins was supposed to do,but in a different way.It would be a special giveout of some Nxt,as imo we are still in the IPO, although people dont see it this way.

PROPOSAL TO STIMULATE NXT MINING POOLS

A fund is created, with a certain amount of Nxt.For example a fund commitee creates and manages a Nxt account xxxxxxxxxxx, with 500.000 Nxt(any number). Also anyone can support it by donating money to that account.

All those Nxt will be distributed to everyone who has mined in a certain period, from April 1st to April 30th for example, in proportion to how much they have mined. That would be done by sending the Nxt to the pool owners, who can pay it accordingly,as all the workers and how much they mined is public info.
If you mined 0,1% of the total Nxt mined ,you would get 0,1% of the added Nxt too.

This would increase the ROI for mining here, making these pools the most profitable(by far depending on how much is donated), and bringing a lot of people to Nxt> Lots of miners> more Nxt bought every day>buy pressure> price increases. It would also put Nxt in everyones mouth and bring hype.
I have no idea how much people can this bring, but if it did success in introducing Nxt to a lot of people, the increase in the price could be significant.
Some people may think its unfair to subsidize this, but it is a private project, and could be a nice way to let initial stakeholders give out some Nxt, that could be distributed to hundreds(i hope thousands) of persons.

For anyone who has been into poker, this would be like a Rake race.It brings players to a poker room, and make them play as much hands as they can competing between them, because the more you rake you generate, the bigger the prize you will get, although in this case the payout would be lineal.

If we can optimize how many Nxt to giveout,we would bring the most competitive miners in the world to Nxt.And this doesnt punish small miners in any way(their ROI is never reduced). And even if many of them sell their Nxt after, they could never sell more than what they have generated and has been bought by the pools,so it cant be EV- in the long term.

Ive created this thread to discuss.

https://nextcoin.org/index.php/topic,4487.0.html

If you sibsidize the pool to make it the most profitable you have to consider the likely scenario in which those droves of pump and dump selfish miners come by for the free lunch then just sell all the nxt to btc on their way out the door.

even if they wanted to dump it all, the pool would be able to buy most if it back.  I have been doing most of the NXT buys for the pool on BTER, that's why the volume is so up.  I am also integrating with cryptsy and Poloniex, just they sometimes have bigger delays in payouts.

How much volume did you generate? How much are you buying up in a day?

Im thinking to invest some more in NXT, can somebody give me a good reason to do this? Because its already for months up and down around 7500 satoshi.

Because, if the price is around 7500 satoshi for months, it will most likely go up to that mark again, which will make you more than 20%.
Thatīs the short term benefit.

On the other hand, we all believe in Nxt and the community behind it. (except Emule, but he most probably jumped from a bridge already as the price didnīt go to 0) We see Nxt as a platform which enables building (decentralized) services on it, that the world needs. And this will, more likely, make Nxt the next big thing.

Or not. Who knows. But we believe in it.

I just had a look at the excel sheet in your signature, rickyjames!
Itīs amazing to have a look behind the courtains and see the enormous work that is put into the projects.

Keep up the great work!
