I got an interesting PM just a minute ago:

"
Hi Klee,

Im looking for a good cryptocurrency to invest money in.
I was enthousiastic about NXT since it's the newest coin on the market.
However, when I did some research on it I discovered the following things:

The currency website www.nextcoin.org and NXT echange platform DGEX.com are both hosted by the same company that appears have produced the currency.
That's Graviton Capital Inc.
By checking the WHOIS info on these websites the admin of both is goldtails@gmail.com

By googling that emailadress I discovered other websites that are adminned by this guy:

http://www.webboar.com/whois-email/goldtails@gmail.com

These are domainnames of gambling websites that look like scams.
The one that caught my eye the most is: www.ponzigame.com
PONZI GAME...

Above all that: in the terms of DGEX.com NXT exchange website it says that all BTC tranfered in to your DGEX account will become property of DGEX.com

Well aren't these all serious red flags not to get involved with this currency?
I'd look to know what your opinion is on my foundings.
I haven't been able to post directly on the forum since I'm only a newbie here.
If you also see this as an unfolding scam please warn everybody that is interested.

Kind regards,
xxx
"

I had to disclose it for transparency.
Regardless of the DGEX part, still I can't see how Next or BCNext could be linked with this.
Anyways, I think the accusations for Graviton even if legit have nothing to do with the coin..

Why worry about privacy, he posted a thread...
Really? Link please?
Thing is www.nextcoin.org and www.dgex.com are not affilated with the creation of nxt coin. Nxt will have its own dedicated exchange at time of release in january and btcnxt was happy to just have this forum as a page for nxt.
but that doesnt mean nextcoin.org and dgex.com are legit. but i have used the exchange myself with no issues.

Well, when it comes to domain names, I own NextCoin.com, anyone want to develop as a general site for more info on NxtCoin?  PM me.

and I own nextcoin.de which is already redirected to the German thread on the nextcoin.org forum.
1202  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 04, 2013, 05:06:34 PM
All coins were created at genesis block. All coins from genesis were bought by people. There is not one nxtcoin in existence that wasn't bought by someone.

Am I right?
- yes, you are 100% right. Even the creator, BCNext, spent 1 BTC to take share in the Genesis block (there was a cap - 1 BTC for participant):
My stake is/will be 1 BTC worth.  I will not get any NXT for free.

And the creation of the Gen.block was fully public: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=303898.msg3652710#msg3652710 .

And where is the 21 BTC now? Tongue
1203  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 04, 2013, 04:37:40 PM
i didnt claim, i asked about. Thats a big difference.
For ages? the thread started 25.Nov 2013, when was the initial release?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=303898.0

There is also a search function on this forum.

September 28 still not ages ;-) i searched already. The Problem was "Next Coin" was used a lot by other coins.
Thanks for the links, now i understand how i works.
There was no need to call me troll, just becuase i pointed out the premining (in next generation it's called "minted"  Roll Eyes )
This just confirmed my intuition that there is something strange.

greetings

All coins were created at genesis block. All coins from genesis were bought by people. There is not one nxtcoin in existence that wasn't bought by someone.

Am I right?
Yes. "Created" or "Released" - both words are good. Nxt have true "genesis" block Smiley
And then Jesus enter the town... sorry Smiley And then first investors start to spread their shares as a gifts, bounties, cheap sales and so on.

And this should be also on the first page, to make things clear!

yes , this is a must !

It is still not too late to grap some cheap coins!

Can I access my wallet from another PC?
Another question for 100k NVC Cheesy
Man, there is NO WALLET in usual terms (like in Bitcoin). There is no difference on what server you unlock your account.

And, yes, you can use your own server - and I highly recommend you to use only your one - if you make it visible outside. But the way you can do it depends on you environment: OS, connection type, firewalls and so on.

It was a question I was asked two times today (by only telling 3 people about NXT) so I wanted to make sure Smiley
1206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 04, 2013, 03:06:01 PM
It doesn't like my unlock phrase anymore:

java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: URLDecoder: Illegal hex characters in escape (%) pattern - For input string: "&$"

Version 0.3.9 - https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/67242472/nxt.zip

Fixed double URL decoding.

Does it work?

Iīve read a very interesting post which I would like to share with you.

"I think everyone here will agree that NXT is an interesting concept - and I think that implementing it first in Java was a great choice for getting more developers on board. However, I think there is a seriously problem with NXT, and indeed proof-of-stake in general: that of pooled mining.

As with all modern decentralized crypto-currencies, an even spread of influence is desirable: Bitcoin would hardly work if all of the hashing power belonged to one group. Similarly with a proof-of-stake currency, the total wealth needs to be spread across many real world owners, each with small balances, for the system to work.

Small influence leads to small block solving power and so less steady mining returns. Bitcoin solves this through pooled mining. Pooled mining in Bitcoin is particularly elegant since very little trust is required between the pool operator and the owner of the hashing power. Can we do the same in NXT? Solving blocks in NXT requires signing them with an account private key, a good balance and considerable luck. Thus, pooled mining in NXT requires either;

handing over the private key to the pool, without the pool owner running off with the account funds;
trusting the signer to pay back the pool if the get lucky;
or some clever crypto to guarantee one of the above

At present, none of these options are both desirable and possible. So with this in mind, how will NXT work at all?"

What do you think about this?

I got a message of BCNext regarding this. He is thinking about changing the mining algo, a new approach will used Cunicula's proposal to assign a unique id to each coin. If this way is not flawed then we'll get trustless pooled mining. There are no details yet, the concept may be changed.

That sounds good!!

But this wonīt solve the issue that arise when someone already holds a lot of coins and is not spending them, just "proofing" and earning new coins. How to make sure, that one person canīt hold the majority of the coins?

I've been wondering about this for a while now. I think this is one of the problems than needs to be addressed soon, if not in implementation, in theory at least.

The option to handing over large amount of currency to a person who runs a pool is not realistic, safe, or efficient. (However it's interesting in case of exchanges and such, because they can make profit with your coins, so fees should be lower.)

The best solution would be if there would be a pool mining (proofing?) mechanism integrated into Nxt itself. A way to sign over the mining rights of coins to a collective while maintaining ownership over the coins.

Well, for me seems, that without this function, there is no point using it and the mass will not adopt at as they are suspicious with "pre mined" coins, even if this is a new technology. They need to get motivated to use the currency and "proof", to earn coins. Currently, with 100-2000 coins it is pointless to "proof" and it is not possible to get more then that coins for free. Dumping coins for free, on the other hand, will result in a price drop, which is also against the interest of the shareholders...

- no, PoS more safe then PoW, because big stakeholders aren't interested in attack on the currency.

But what if I have a lot of NXT and am nopt spending them, just holding them and "mining"? this means that I will have more and more NXT, which can lead to market distortion.

Who sent me 1 BTC Huh

It was me, as BTC-e did not let me withdraw less than 1 BTc for whatever reasons. I was just not able to reply here because of the 360seconds rule and then it told me that I already sent the same message... I hope I will be able to post it now.. Smiley

Hi! Iīd like to buy NXT worth 2 BTC. Please make your offers!
Since you've got scammed, I can give you 400K Nxt for 2 BTC today and not tomorrow.

Thank you ver much for your offer! It really restores my faith in this project and the rising community of NXT...
Can we make it like manrus advised? I send you 0,5 BTC, you send me 100k, and so on till you got the 2 BTC?

It is not that I donīt trust you, because you still have my full faith, like you had when I thought that you are that other guy, but I am affraid, that even my last 2 BTCs will get lost somewhere in the air, and I will sit there without anything... I hope you understand that.

Just give me your address please and I will withdraw the first 0,5 BTC from BTC-e to your wallet.

And thank you very much again, really appreciate! If NXT ever gets hyped, Iīll invite you (and pay your expenses) to Vienna to have a beer together Smiley
Okay let's do it in 4 times, this is my btc address: 1FnzXa7ZStYUiKn3fexcjyp2hhBMfotxHp
Please post your account id. and I send you the first 100K Nxt after 0.5 btc first confirmation.
And thanks for your invitation, I love Vienna, sure I ll be your guest if this Nxt get flying as expected potentially!

Thank you very much, the first 0,5 is on itīs way.

My ID is 4639129326769864943.

Hi! It was me who got scammed
- I really feel sorry for you..

but why you go to THAT forum?   especially to by coins..  The Nxt community is here!

Because I was on that forum before and discovered this one only later. And he had the same name like the guy I saw several times giving away bonus coins... so I thought he is giving me a good price because he wants to spread NXT, wants others to get into it, so the price will -in the end - go higher, even if he is selling it for a bit less, etc...

I tried to acquire 200k nxt Sad

I am an idiot.. :`(
I am very sorry to hear this but  really don't understand how could you possibly believe someone to be me just by having him using the same username in a forum that has less than a week age??!

Because I am such a honest (idiot) guy that doesnīt scam others (and was never scammed before) and never thought that someone would try to get money acting like this at a community where it is all about trust. We have nothing, but the trust in each other, otherwise the whole crypto-story wouldnīt be such a big thing. 1 BTC wouldnīt cost 1000USD if there werenīt people like me, who are sending their money to exchange homepages, trusting them, that they donīt steal our money, or the price of NXT wouldnīt be at the level as it is on now, without poeple sending bitcoins to dgex, and hoping that it wonīt get stolen...

Are you trade without smooth transactions ?

What are smooth transactions?

Can I trust kwest, do you know him here? Is it safe to buy from him..?

You know what.. you shouldn't have to pay me after having already lost a lot. If I remember correctly you asked me on the other board if bybitcoin was trustworthy and I said yes. Not thinking about that it was a new board and anyone could register on it under any name (I'm also honest and naive I guess), I'm partially at fault here. I can't take your money after that.

But I still would like to participate in the project and have NXT coins...
