441  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: March 16, 2014, 01:48:13 AM
I think if we integrate application level URI schemes (i.e. nxt://, as someone suggested earlier) http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ie/aa767914(v=vs.85).aspx, with a distributed storage parallel block chain to host websites -- the value of nxt would go to 2 BN in about a week.

Simple answer, NO

if this is possible and nxt it does not the competence will do it

I highly doubt the competition would do this without building in some way of not being shot down by a smear campaign.
We may not like it, but "child porn" and "terrorism" are surefire ways of killing appeal immediately.
Doesn't have to be true, it just needs to be mentioned.

So instead of stuffing our heads in the sand, if we want to do this, you need a plan on how to answer those questions when they are asked.

"People are free to do as they like" is not the answer that will help.

Edit: so, are there other answers to that question?

ok, i agree
we must to look for solutions to this

We should definitely pay attention to the possible bad uses af this, and discuss it. Because it WILL be misused, and I wish I was smart enough to stop it. And to judge where to draw the line, if I could. That said, I don't think dark forces should stop this initiative.

How about automatically blocking those sites via community voting?

Edit: as I see someone else already mentioned this.

I still dont know if the salt is for bath or eating, but that video made me realize that salt must be so cool:
http://saltsworldwide.com/salts-worldwide-aboutus/

Now I just need to find that chick and hire her from some pricerr site Cheesy

I really appreciate you work in promoting Nxt, but as a marketing guy, you should better focus on bringing in new investors and pushing Nxt on bigger sites like Yahoo Financials or Bbc or whatever, rather than organizing a Salt<->Nxt gateway.

Jut my 2 Nxts.

NXT has such enormous potential! But it is so sad that value is diluted by sellers at the moment and little buying interest.

What NXT need nxt is AE and Wesleyh his client, people should focus on this and promote it to average Joe,  that is all people care for now, all the rest is overkill and noise, although the ideas may be great it does not add value to nxt as of now.

We still have to start up nxt and create buying power from new investors. In my opinion it should go this way:

Launch AE with Wesleyh his client

Big campaign around this and spread the word

Target people average Joe the masses

Big holders and holders should stop dumping NXT at these prices as it is way undervalued, diluting is NOT good for NXT or for distribution.

All this together with upwards price movement should get NXT in the picture again.

All the rest is noise and dreaming although the ideas can be used for the long term.

So stop selling, promote AE and wesleyh his client so price can rice to above new high and NXT would get attention again.

If not expect further decline of price and interest, still supporting NXT but I am going low profile as I told before I get little donations and don’t get paid 40K NXT a month, sorry.

you forgot to switch to emule acc

You can make fun of him, but he has some valid points.

Edit: we are currently in the process of working out how it would be possible to have a contract between our investors and us, enabling them to stay anonymous.

It's called Nxt AT!    Wink

What I mean is s legal contract. Smiley

446  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Proof of Stake Investment - NVC/HBN/PHS/TEK/and more on: March 14, 2014, 09:46:00 PM
Why did you leave out NXT?

because in crypto investment circles only a nutjob would invest in 100% premine scamcoin.

You need to "premine" to get proof of stake..
447  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: March 14, 2014, 09:16:47 PM

That is correct. However, there is no jurisdiction backing up his claim.

If a company doing an IPO on NXT isn't legally incorporated in a state or country, I'd stay the hell away from that investment.

And even that will not save you from potential lossess. Just look at MtGox.

But you have to take the risk if you want to make big money. Otherwise put your money on a bank account, thatīs pretty safe, yet.
448  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: March 14, 2014, 09:11:16 PM
If some firm will sell shares in Nxt Asset Exchange and I will buy 20% of the shares. Then how would I know that the same firm won't sell the same shares in another asset exchange platform? Then I will end up with 10% .. 5% .. 1% shares for example in no time.

No way to know this, you must trust them...

Not exactly. As a shareholder you should be able to vote on such matters. This isn't always the case, as some companies have different classes of equity which have different voting rights, or some companies are majority owned by a few insiders.

You should only invest in companies where you have the insight what´s going on. You should only invest in COMPANIES not in "projects" and not in "people" who have great ideas as they most probably will run away with your money.

We are planning to use the Nxt Asset Exchange to sell shares in the new project our company is going to work on. We are a registered company, the owners are known, the management is known, we will be available for Q&A and and will provide a business plan as well as our financial results so far. I think this is the minimum someone should provide before asking for investment. Everything else is pure speculation.

Edit: we are currently in the process of working out how it would be possible to have a contract between our investors and us, enabling them to stay anonymous.
449  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: March 14, 2014, 02:19:57 PM
Nxt have a better innovation compared to other altcoins popping up everywhere, but the only thing that is keeping it from progressing is the inability to mine Nxt when you have zero balance from you account or even if you have a thousand of it, decentralize means it is not controlled by a few big stake holders.

I proposed an option for "mining" Nxt.  Technically, this isn't mining, but if someone were to do this, we could all use our SHA-256/Scrypt hashing power to acquire Nxt.

I first posted this over at the Nextcoin.org forum (see here).  Please join the discussion and if anyone who reads this knows of an experienced pool admin who might be interested, please refer them to this topic.

The really cool thing about this approach is that people will most-likely not mine Nxt to dump it.  They will mine Nxt and the process will pump it, rather than suppress value!

Practically any way you look at this approach is a benefit!

Holy fuck! I love this idea! What do wo need to make this reality?

Someone to do it.  I work full time and I am experienced enough to know that this type of project takes time to do right.  I've worked with the client code but I have 0-experience working on a pool (plus I'm not a web developer.)

So, what we need is a motivated pool manager to do this.  I wish it were me, but it's not.  This is why I'm willing to start a bounty.  However, I won't be able to get that going until a little bit later today.
I would invest 20k Nxt in this. The return would come from the pool fee.
What do you think about this business model? Smiley

Where nodecoin becomes part of the fabric of NXT is if we as a community decides to offer it as an official ongoing reward to run a computer and support our network.

Once we do this, once we cross over this line, we can no longer call ourselves a pure Proof of Stake cryptocurrency.

We will have changed the core definition of what NXT is if the NXT experience is expanded to include the awarding of nodecoin along with the forging of NXT.

This is the key point of rj's argument. Nodecoin is not any "ordinary" coin anyone can create on top of Nxt. If it were, no one would have any reason to object to it.

Reasons why it is not any ordinary coin:-

1. It was designed to be used as an integral part of Nxt. At the heart of any crypto currency is the blockchain, and how it is secured. NodeCoin has been positioned to be the mechanism to (help) secure it. Anything, whose function is to secure the network will be seen as an integral part of Nxt, whether it is in the NRS core or otherwise. This alters, or at least can be perceived to alter, the DNA and hence the very identity of Nxt. Therefore it cannot be treated as just an ordinary coin anybody can build.

2. It is designed to power the key engines of Nxt (AE, gateways, NXTCash, NXTmixer, etc), which are projects funded by the community. "Nodecoin should be redeemable for accessing services (DAC, NxtCash, whatever)". So if a Nxter has millions of Nxt but no NodeCoins, he has to buy them just to uses the very services that are suppose to make Nxt unique? That makes NodeCoins to be more superior in function than NXT.

Edit: I hope I have got this point wrong!

3. It has been positioned by James as a non-profit, community project. This gives further credence to Ricky's point that "we as a community decide to offer it as an official ongoing reward to run a computer and support our network". If this has been privately developed by James as a random Nxter, this association will be absent.

If we agree that it is no ordinary coin for the above reasons, then we should consider Ricky's point about NodeCoin altering the very fabric of Nxt; and not just brushing it aside as just a coin anybody can create on top of Nxt.

You all have to understand that it is out of our power/control to decide if Nodecoin (or any other coin) will be built ontop of Nxt.
It is an asset. People will decide if they use it or not.

453  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: March 14, 2014, 10:55:39 AM
I vote for fundamental research (what James is doing right now with nodecoin) but don't mix it up with our Nxt branding.

I agree, too. That is what I was trying to convey and what should be conveyed clearly by James as well when he promotes nodecode. Am I right?

nodecoin is a product of James. So, he is responsible for it.

NXT is a product of the community. Se, they are responsible for it.

James could have created a Bitcoin fork called Nodecoin, but the decided to use the Nxt infrastructure for it. He gets coins as they are distributed to others. so this is his business. He has to make sure, that they will be worth anything. Not a community issue.

I think we should be thankfull to James for building it ontop of Nxt, instead of copying Bitcoin.

Thatīs all.
454  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: March 14, 2014, 10:31:33 AM
And it is actually Jamesī decision as he created the asset. If it will be worth $0 nobody will care about it. If it will be worth something, Nxt will benefit from it.
I think we should let the market decide.

I fully agree. It's the purpose of NXT to enable people to build services on top of it.

They do it on their own. It has nothing else to do with NXT except that NXT is their buliding block.

Period.

We had 5 months to deliver something, that makes Nxt unique. We had the benefit of being first. If we failed to take this advantage, then let it be. If something built ON TOP of Nxt can destroy it, than it is not the system that the world needs.

The forks of Bitcoin have nothing to do with Bitcoin itself, they are just copies/forks, but Bitcoin managed to stay alive and be the Nr1 cryptocurrency. Now we will have coins built ON TOP of Nxt, which has a stong correlation and connection to Nxt, unlike Bitcoin and his other alts. If this kills Nxt, then let it be.

[Some valid points.. ]

Nxt is still green as you can even run it on a RasPi running with solar power only. If you have a computer network, you will need electricity. Nodecoin is just a gift, that was created by one of the community members to give it to the people participating in the Nxt network. The amount of Nodecoin you get doesnīt depend on the forging rig you are using. I donīt think that makes Nxt "less green".

There's three possibilities and only three possibilities.

1. Nobody gets this gift for participating
2. Some people don't get this gift even though they did participate
3. Everybody gets the same gift

We as a community are doing something useless that is a waste of time if we do 3.
We as a community are doing something "unfair" if we do 2.
That's why I vote 1.

We reward only the people who are supporting the network.
It is already there, why donīt use it?

And it is actually Jamesī decision as he created the asset. If it will be worth $0 nobody will care about it. If it will be worth something, Nxt will benefit from it.
I think we should let the market decide.

Congratulations anti-nodecoin camp wins.

James

WTF?!?!?     Angry Angry Angry

WHAT IS SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND PEOPLE?!?

I have no control over what goes into the NXT core.

James

It is not part of NXT core, it is just a NXT asset that I made

nodecoins are NOT part of NXT core. It is not part of NXT basic structure.
It is simply an asset I created using NXT core.
anybody can do this

James

Let Nodecoin alone! Smiley
And let it live ontop of Nxt!
