How does WBTC solve Bitcoin scalability again? If anything Ethereum is far more expensive to transact with; not to mention that WBTC doesn't inherit the security and decentralization of the Bitcoin network. You're simply not going to get scalability on the base chain without sacrificing security/decentralization.

There are wrapped BTC tokens not only on ETH but also on BSC, KCC, SOL or even TRC20. And how does it help bitcoin scalability? It takes out all the load made by people who wants to transfer bitcoins from exchange x to exchange y without paying ~25$ fee (standard BTC withdrawal fee is 0.0005 BTC). You dont need security/decentralization for this purpose (transfer of value from risky place - exchange - to other risky place - other exchange). Who does that? Mostly arbitrage trader balancing their portfolio but also BTC/altcoin traders who does not touch stable coins.

I was looking at this adress a while and there is like ~20TX per minute - ~5% of BTC chain max traffic (7 TX/s) took off.
1662  Local / Alternatywne kryptowaluty / Re: NFT to tylko obrazek jpg. Klikam prawym i kopiuję.

Miłość do bitcoina przyszła chwilę później.

Re: is bitcoin scalability problem solve now?

After we give up on the idea that bitcoin is going to replace fiats (compete with visa) - 2017 bubble paradigm - and focus on "digital gold" "safe haven" "plan b" paradigm that is currently driving bitcoin price ... 7 tps is enough ... problem solved by changing bitcoin narrative/usecase. Current BTC transaction cost is below 1$, no one need less if your competitor is no longer Visa (24 000TPS and free for end user) but ... gold with 0 TPS, or rather 1 transaction per 2-10 working days via DHL/DPD/UPS/FEDEX for a fee of 2-50$ with shipping insurance XD.

You also forgot to add one big thing. Alternative chain solution (wrapped bitcoin) that is being used by arbitrage traders, traders, workers, and many more to move bitcoins from exchange x to exchange y faster with 0.0000055 withdrawal fee instead of 0.0005 BTC. Also average trader is no longer trading BTC/ALTcoins  (2014-2017 70-90% of altcoin trading volume was made by BTC/ALTcoins trading pairs) but rather USDT/Altcoins so he moves tether all around the exchanges rather than bitcoins.
I think it lower bitcoin onchain traffic a lot.

czego Wam i sobie życzę, do siego roku drodzy forumowicze!

"I've just went through the AMA transcript that happened ~10 hours ago on the Hyperscale discord. They sent a email to info@idena.io regarding our win. And from what I understand they want to buy 5% of the total supply and pay in USDC or other mainstream stable coin. And right now the money comes from Sam Altman directly."

Leci na ryj BTC, teraz 47K to wsparcie, kolejne 46K a póżniej, to juz przepaść 42 - 40K i wtedy znowu trzeba szukać pozycji do longa?

jestem ciekaw Waszych strategii na ta korekte?

Tak. 47-45k to ostatnia linia wsparcia.  Jeśli polegnie, to ciężko mówić o rynku byka, bo przebiliśmy trend wzrostowy 4 grudnia a spadnięcie niżej będzie wybiciem kolejnego niższego dołka.

https://www.binance.com/en/support/announcement/611c8f41f49e4cd2a02a7c7d66fdf3c0

Quote

1671  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Idena is the first Proof-of-Person Blockchain on: December 19, 2021, 10:14:31 AM
Anyone knows the best summary of how this all works? And how I can potentially earn from it?  Is it pretty much, Proof-of-KYC? Or is there more to it?

No KYC, you prove your humanity (that you are not a bot) by solving Turing test - "The Turing test, originally called the imitation game by Alan Turing in 1950,[2] is a test of a machine's ability to exhibit intelligent behaviour equivalent to, or indistinguishable from, that of a human" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turing_test . For project purposes called "validation" and "solving flips".

After solving test that is being done simultaneously by whole network each 3 weeks (more or less) you can start mining. Your hardware does not matter, your stake does not matter, you have equal voting power and equal rewards with others because you are a human as others are (proved by turing test).

I think its the easiest/shortest explanation you can get.
1672  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who manages the bitcoin server ?? on: December 19, 2021, 09:22:00 AM
I hope you can understand my question… Like any cryptocurrency there is always a code written and there is always a server involved where the code wil be put … it has nothing to do with peer to peer … I am asking on the code level …because when a code is written and deployed it cannot run on their own … it must have been checked continuously on regular basis as the server can go down … and it generally cannot restart on its own during the outage … so it may be possible that someone is managing bitcoin server ..

This question redirects the finger to Satoshi Nakamoto … or the person who is looking the server and also where the code was first put … the email associated and details that were put during the implementing of bitcoin code ..

1- satoishi is gone for 10 years and 7 days. Thats his last post on bitcointalk - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2228.msg29479#msg29479 - December 12, 2010, 06:22:33. Untill now, for all this time, bitcoin is on its own. Developed by community (hundreds of developers  and thousends of nodes that approve or decline the updates by accepting fork or not - running new code on their nodes or old one)
2- there is no single server. Everyone who wants to partycipate create its own NODE that connect with other nodes creating P2P network that everyone else can use. Thats what decentralization is and thats why bitcoin is worth more than 0.
1673  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Short selling on binance.us on: December 19, 2021, 09:12:19 AM
That is what I saw for leverage as well, but what about selling short?

Binance.us does not support any form of trading other than SPOT.

Its not possible to sell short without margin or leverage because to go short, you need to sell coins that you do not own - borrow them using collateral (margin) or use futures (what is also not supported on binance.us and every other broker/exchange that does not want to be chased by USA like bitmex was)
1674  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are you invest in new projects? on: December 19, 2021, 09:04:05 AM
Hello everyone, my question is: how often do you invest in new and young projects? Aren't you afraid of losing money if the project closes?

I want to invest in a promising project called Metaplace.finance. Their token sale starts on 21st Dec and I think this is a good opportunity to successfully invest money.

If anyone have any idea about this project kindly share your thoughts. Maybe you have some interesting cases on this matter.

Would be much easier if you put here any more data. Not everyone wants to enter suspicious websites with a high risk of getting infected. Based on name only ... its 99% scam. I've seen houndrends of similar named projects - "lending, staking, farming" and of course "soon" are magic words that attract newbies that missed DEFI bubble. I bet this project use all of them. In my opinion ICO is way to soon to invest in anything in 2021. In 2015-2017 maybe ... not now. Now scammers are like steel factory. They have everything ready and tested. They change CSS code of website a little bit (1 day of work), whitepaper font and few sentences (1 day of work), pay shillers (2k$ for 1 week of spam everywhere) and telegram/twitter members boosters (100$), run ICO (100$), collect 5-10k$, exit scam, change CSS code of website a little bit (1 day of work), whitepaper font and few sentences (1 day of work), pay shillers (2k$ for 1 week of spam everywhere) and telegram/twitter members boosters (100$), run ICO (100$), collect 5-10k$, exit scam, They change CSS code of website a little bit (1 day of work), whitepaper font and few sentences (1 day of work), pay shillers (2k$ for 1 week of spam everywhere) and telegram/twitter members boosters (100$), run ICO (100$), collect 10k$, exit scam, change CSS code of website a little bit (1 day of work), whitepaper font and few sentences (1 day of work), pay shillers (2k$ for 1 week of spam everywhere) and telegram/twitter members boosters (100$), run ICO (100$), collect 5-10k$, exit scam.
1675  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I have been scammed in pancackeswap telegram group on: December 19, 2021, 08:48:13 AM
Dear community. Has this also happened to anyone? I was trying to connect my trust wallet to  pancackeswap but it return error every time. Then I went to pancackeswap website and clicked a link to their telegram group and joined. I immediately received a phone call and I explained my problem. I was sent a link to troubleshoot the problem: www.app.walletimports.com and followed the procedure. I didn't know it was stealing my secret  key because I believed that pancackeswap is a reputable company. They stole my 0.055 BNB. Be careful with that telegram group.

Pancakeswap is a reputable company but ... people are only people. If you are employed as support and earn 500$ monthly and someone comes with 1 000 000$ inside wallet and gives you private key without asking ... most people will not think for a second about what to do. Thats why you never share your private key no matter with who you think you are talking.

But most likely it was not the case in your situation. Its highly likely that you were phished (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5122515.0) to fake site and fake telegram group or, whats even more likely, you asked for help on official telegram group and it was spotted by scammer who PMed you - thats super common. Thats why many admins on official telegram groups have "will never PM you first" next to nickname.
1676  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What is your trust rating for projects that do not have ANN thread on this forum on: December 19, 2021, 08:22:56 AM
Altcoin investment is one of the riskiest investment methods in cryptocurrency as most of the altcoins end up as shit coins and get dumped at every given opportunity or some of them never make it to the exchange thereby becoming exit scams, so what is the role of the forum play in the activities of altcoins that create ANN thread on the forum are they're better than those without recognition on the forum?

You confuse altcoins with ICOs. Good altcoins with strong fundamentials like BNB (Phenomenon of BNB (Fundamental analysis BNB/USD)) are here for years and are not going anywhere.
But if you are talking about new tokens that all they have is web page and promise of "staking, lending, farming" (magic words that attracts newbies), it does not matter if there is ANN thread or not ... its 99% scam.
1677  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Polkadot Could reach $100 or more? on: December 19, 2021, 08:11:46 AM
Those commenting, have they actually read about the polkadot ecosystem and know what it's all about? Remove price discussion, polkadot is building something revolutional and unique unlike the hundreds of copycats in the industry. The timing of the Parachain Auctions just came late, assuming this was done before the peak of the bull cycle and not at the peak/end then the story would had been different as polkadot should be trading way above $100 easily with all the hype it got.

From it's previous high that's just 1x and that can be easily achieved during the next bull run if the momentum is maintained. Read about the Parachain and you'll understand DOT is a gem if it can accomplished a small percentage of what it's aiming to do.

Ok, Polkadot is working on parachains. But is this technology worth 100 billion dollars at the stage it is now (evaluation at 100$) ? I mean like, maybe it is after 10 years and 100 million users. But now, when its not 100% ready and no one is using it? Real evaluation of DOT is around 1/500 of current marketcap if not less. And if we are talking about the evaluation of 500x real value ... real value its close to 0 compared to evaluation ... so does it matter at all what DOT is doing?

Last months I stopped chasing tech in crypto because each day there is new project that claims to do something revolutional. I started to analize financial situation of project, userbase it has and compare it with evaluation. Becuase its a lot easier to copy/paste open source code and implement it to your project rather than convincing 10 million people to give up on their chains and build something new on my chain. When DOT will finish their work and projects like BSC will see that DOT threatens them ... they will steal DOT tech, change a little bit and present it to their userbase.

I'm still supporting and investing in project that tries to deliver something new/innovative but those are project evaluated <50 mln $ because thats how much startup with not finished product is worth.
1678  Other / Off-topic / Re: First impressions on Craig Wright ( Satoshi Nakamoto ? ) on: December 18, 2021, 10:12:48 PM
If someone proved that he/she/they is/are Satoshi, he/she/they could patent the blockchain technology and how we use it.

10 year after his disappearance? Nah man. Its not how it works. You can't patent open source code that was always open source and is being under development for last 10 years without  "he/she/they". There is nothing "he/she/they" can do after showing up. No one can. Thats what makes BTC strong.

1679  Economy / Speculation / Re: Some important things about Bitcoin. on: December 18, 2021, 04:49:24 PM
From my point of view, it seems that the market will rise and fall. If the condition of the market is good then the price of coin will increase. If the market is bad then the price of coin will decrease. This is easy and normal.

So you are saying that market is going up and down. Damn that's super groundbreaking discovery. Who would have expected that?

And topic of this thread ... damn that's not only "Some important things about Bitcoin" that's "some important things for entire economy" or even entire universe. Because guess what... bitcoin cycles are not the only observed cycles. There are also market cycles, "15 year dollar cycle" and going even futher (maybe you will discover them too one day) - days and nights, seasons, menstrual cycles.
1680  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I want to run my P2E game, can you tell me which blockchain should I run it on? on: December 18, 2021, 04:09:54 PM
Hey everyone, I want to launch my P2E game, but I can't decide on the blockchain on which I should launch it. Fast transaction speed and cheap gas are important to me. At the moment I am considering three blockchains that are ideal for this: NEAR, Solana, Harmony, which one should I choose and why?
There are some best choices right now and i will try to make a list for these blockchains

1. BSC - cheapest, fast and it has so many users.
2. Polygon - so many metaverse were migrating to this blockchain as the tx fees was even cheaper compared with BSC but the community less bigger rather than BSC as it's backed by binance.
3. Solana and AVAX - Solana was not EVM compliant and this will make you a bit difficult to get  players but AVAX already EVM compliant.

You can pick one from those blockchains but im sure that if the answer must be BSC or Polygon. These blockchains were the best for p2e development.

+1

The best choises.
Out of them I suggest to go with BSC since its the chain with the biggest traffic and user base. You really don't want to waste resources to convince people to learn new wallets, new chains, new explorers. Even binance, while creating BSC, did not want to do that and they made their chain 100% ETH compatible.

Maybe Solana and AVAX are faster/cheaper... but its just a open source tech. If BSC will see high fees as a growth limiter ... they will copy/paste tech from others and implement to their chain (SOL, AVAX are open source). BSC is backed by binance, market leader with billions of $$ annual profit. So infinite resources that will do all they can to keep as much projects/investors inside BSC as they can.
