A Greece deal has reached.

Selling is the best option for now

IMF warned that Greece needs deeper debt relief. Not over yet.

Agree; we're FAR from a "deal". A portion of SYRIZA has revolted against the austerity package and they refuse to vote for it; if that happens elections it is sooner than later. AFAIC the viability of the debt... let me say it out loud:

HA

HA

HA! Grin
662  Economy / Economics / Re: Martin Armstrong Discussion on: July 14, 2015, 03:34:06 PM
As an expert on the field (I'm joking, I'm not even close!) I'd say that his method is similar to other ways of extracting numerical results from a matrix with (phenomenally) random data. A well known technique is the Monte Carlo method which, we Physicists are using in various cases to solve a multi system of integrals that represent wave functions (usually QM representations) by using random numbers. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monte_Carlo_method]

The elephant in the room is of course the word "random". What is random? Is there a possible way to actually create a TRULY random series of numbers? Well... The short answer is... "there's not". However hard would you try; whatever method you want to implement, no matter how many asymptotic numbers you integrate, even if you count in the irrationality of the sequence of Pi... you won't make it.

Whatever the pattern, the Chaos will come along with a peculiar characteristic: Entropy. And this thing tends to grow while the Chaos expands. Entropy tends to create order. Order in chaotic mathematical models is represented graphically with a double helix graph like the one on my avatar (on the left). This beauty's called "Strange Attractor" and it comes as plural when a "significantly big factor" occurs in order to make a new "zero point". In the graph it's where the 1st wing of the "butterfly" separates from the other.

Well; can you calculate WHEN this is going to happen?

The short answer is "you can't". But if you have an extraordinary amount of historical data, you could definitely know "where this thing is going". This is what I think Armstrong has achieved. He's smart enough to have an online sampling system to continuously add data to his model in order to "announce a self-fulfilling prophecy". When a new "zero point" occurs, he will just have to restart the model.

If you understood a bit from all the above, I think you deserve some props. If you didn't; there's a nice quote that fits me perfectly:

so, astrology after all?

Astrophysics, actually... Grin
FWIW, it's not 100% certified, it's just a possible scenario. I know about 50 out of 100 Physicists that claim the exact opposite. Modelizing such chaotic phenomena is somewhat "Armstrongeconomics" and for reasons broadly explained elsewhere, I have my doubts it will prove itself 100% right.

@TPTB_need_war: Thanks for quoting my comments from Klee's thread here. Damn. I type too much Tongue

well there is one thing for sure... we are going to go find out. and there is another great thing about bitcoin, all the homeless can go crawl into a corner and die instead of bumming for money on a freeway corner . maybe they can create an app for giving money to homeless that prints out a cold storage wallet instantly from your cell phone. i'm not really against bitcoin.. i mean i own a bunch.. i just think its not going to work as our replacement currency for the 'in god we trust' print and manipulate 'interest to infinity' debt slavery system we have now. it's not going to be able to do it by itself. it is unconstitutional not to use gold and silver as a form of exchange...

Being a part of it (or possessing a great portion for that matter) doesn't mean "replacing". Bitcoin never meant to be a replacement (as many falsely believe). Bitcoin is a means of decentralized transactions that needs no middle men and cannot be "created out of thin air" by some banker. I don't think it will ever be the day that Bitcoin will be able to buy a coffee via printed cold storage wallet if you ask me.

It will do me fine if it's able to serve international transactions or buying a home or car with it. In the best case scenario, it may be the store of value for all human wealth. That would've been great, but consider yourself a certain fact. Almost none of us here, will hold even one whole BTC by then.

i dont think we have one, maybe one big Behemoth..
btw great list, should fit nicely for the next few months Smiley

lets see how much action we get the coming days, looks promising for now. xmr is so small compared..it feels undervalued for now, at least to me Grin

If XMR stays perfectly fungible, then we have a serious contender for a great store of value on our hands.  People who risk big early may be massive winners in the long run.

Might I interfere to your musings, I'd propose a diversification of a portion from 1:3 to 1:5 or more of the BTC:XMR you have.

Do you mean dollar based or coin amount?

I assume he meant the ratio to be based on current (fiat) value.

I meant if you have 1 BTC you should keep from 3 to 5 XMR. I believe this is the most possible scenario for its price.
669  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: July 12, 2015, 08:21:06 PM
Or people have made their sidebet on Monero when it still was cheap  Grin

hm? It's not cheap any more?

Now, yes.

When BTC hits $1Million, probably not.

If BTC hits 1m I will be richer than anyone I've ever met. I struggle to comprehend this.

Then a lot of your friends are going to be asking to borrow money

Good thing with BTC (& XMR) is that they may never have to find out if you don't want them to. This is far better than losing all your friends over wealth.

If you expect though 1:1 price then the above suggestion may be the perfect choice for you! Smiley

So LTC was sacrificed to rise BTC price.
I am tempted to  buy LTC once they fall below pre-pump price...hm...

Although not advisable right now, this is a good strategy long term. Most of the times a surge happened, the first one to rise was LTC with BTC following. So; if you're into trading I'd say it's not a bad idea at all. Be sure though you're trigger happy and do not ask too much from your life. I mean an 8x pump was a no brainer even to the most extreme LTC believer...
673  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 10, 2015, 07:06:36 PM
Still some juice left from the LTC pump (https://bitcoinwisdom.com/markets/btce/ltcbtc). Let's see if the show continues after that. Smiley
674  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 10, 2015, 05:13:13 PM
So. Grexit. Is it gonna happen?

I'm rooting for it. We need a warrior people in the world.

I hope so as well.  If Mr. Tsipras agrees to a deal, even a modified one, it will signal that he is simply another pawn (member? slave?) of the EU Oligarchy that will do everything in their power to get their way.  Being leveraged something like 30:1 in Greek debt, the EU Oligarchy doesn't want to have to start unwinding *any* existing assets/liabilities to pay for a haircut.

If a deal to stay in the Euro happens, I think the Greek people will be pissed.

It sounds like he has agreed to almost everything the EU Oligarchy wanted, including pension cuts and tax increases. Only 5 of his party MPs have decided to vote against him. I think it depends on getting it past the German parliament now. There's a chance for an agreement, but we'll have to wait until Sunday to find out what happens.

The deal is on paper. Greek proposal doesn't include the debt reduction but the institutions have agreed to talk about its viability (except for the Germans). I smell Obama's intervention in order to get a win-win situation. It's not hard to understand why IMF & Germany were MIA these couple of days while the Greek proposal was documented by French, American & Greek technical team... I'd propose patience. Nothing is over yet.
675  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 10, 2015, 12:39:03 PM
So when does Litecoin go back up?

No?

I'm afraid that train has long gone my friend. History has shown that it tends to repeat itself though. With a little patience... you may be able to get on board the next time! Smiley
676  Economy / Speculation / Re: PnF TA on: July 10, 2015, 12:07:22 PM
Regarding Litecoin, now we see what the term "the halving is already priced in" really means.
When is the halving date?

http://www.litecoinblockhalf.com/

Expect the bubble to deflate before that day.

Not if this speculation is truth...

https://www.reddit.com/r/litecoin/comments/3cjuux/will_coinbase_add_ltc_now_coblee_i_know_beating_a/

Moreover, when BTC makes a big jump it generally takes along the prominent alts like LTC, DOGE, NXT etc.

Speculation wise, LTC was broadly communicated as "The Silver to the BTC Gold" and that should be true; considering what happened for the last week or so though, still poses me to my prior musing that it is indeed a fast transaction vessel that incorporates several nice "features" like "coin mixing" along the way. BTCe / OKCoin / Bittrex to name a few have already got LTC on board and their capacity is significantly bigger than Coinbase.

I totally agree with the second sentence of yours though... Smiley

If we see a major move on BTC (strong indications this is happening as we speak), expect the LTC bubble go puff sooner...

Nah ... Greeks love tourism. Greek islands are peaceful places. Sure, I would avoid large cities and public places (tho even that might be being too cautious), but I doubt there will be much other than gratitiude for tourists in the islands. They NEED that income and all small islands are like mafias ... crime breaks out that affects business, it will be nipped in the bud. Sure, I would expect a little more crime there if everyone is carrying cash, but the islands are one of their greatest assets and they know it.

Stand with the Greeks, take extra money and spend it all, they need it  Smiley

I'm half expecting a massive street party once they are released from the tyranny of the EU, if that happens. Sure, lots of hard work ahead, but no more boot stamping on the face ...

macgsa, interested to hear your view ... btw, I am not implying that greek islanders are only friendly to tourists for the money  Wink

Greek islands are a place of Heaven that escaped on Earth. The current problem is that WE (the Greeks) cannot withdraw more than 60Eur per person, a day. That doesn't apply to a tourist coming to Greece. They have the ability to take infinite amounts. If you check the posts from tourists that are now on Greek islands, you see how the world is rolling here.

Personally, I don't anymore expect a Grexit. I don't expect a nice deal for us either, but I do expect a HEAVY debt reduction by the institutions. Similar to the one that occurred to Germany's debt in 1953 with the London treaty. Call me a fool, but that's what -I think- is the reason Greece has not already been on Drachma or something similar.

We look forward. We're strong and grateful that we live here. Money don't matter. People do...
