361  Bitcoin / Press / [2013-03-20]Square Is Hiring New Crypto Engineers — Pay Them in Bitcoin on: March 20, 2019, 11:35:34 PM
coindesk

Payments startup Square plans to hire a number of engineers and a designer to work on its crypto initiatives, according to tweets from CEO Jack Dorsey.

Dorsey, who also founded and runs Twitter, announced Wednesday evening that Square plans to hire three or four engineers and one designer “to work full-time on open source contributions to the bitcoin/crypto ecosystem.” A Square spokesman said there was no additional information to share beyond the tweets.

Perhaps more notably, these new hires have the option of being paid in bitcoin, Dorsey said.

All work will be open source, and according to Dorsey, the new hires will not be focusing on Square’s own commercial interests, but rather, “on what’s best for the crypto community.”

Dorsey has long been a proponent of bitcoin, repeatedly saying he hopes that bitcoin will become the internet’s – and the world’s – single native currency in the far future.

In Wednesday’s tweet thread, Dorsey added that improving the crypto ecosystem seems to be “the most impactful thing” Square can do for the community, going on to say:

“Square has taken a lot from the open source community to get us here. We haven’t given enough back. This is a small way to give back, and one that’s aligned with our broader interests: a more accessible global financial system for the internet.”

Jack Dorsey is becoming one of the biggest proponents of BItcoin among the big companies in Silicon Valley.
362  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XRP is manipulating social networks on: March 20, 2019, 11:00:16 PM
But was this an action developed by the foundation? Unfortunately, XRP has been showing itself to be a totally centralized project. And it is increasingly acting more like a mega-corporation. This type of action is widely used by the various Tokens created whose sole purpose is pump and dump. Right here in the forum, there are several opportunities in this regard. The famous bounties.
363  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Next New Cryptocurrency on: March 20, 2019, 10:52:44 PM
I'm not so sure that Facebook has, or will, created a Cryptocurrency. Their announcement made them only certain that they will use blockchain for a payment system through their Message Apps.

Using blockchain for a payment system is not the same as creating a cryptocurrency. There are properties that make a project like Bitcoin and Ethereum coins totally different from those created by companies. These include decentralization, open source, and equal rules for all system participants.
364  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BitzFly.xyz (Url shortener wit bitcoin payment) on: March 20, 2019, 10:29:24 PM
Google blocks access to the service's home page. A message showing a problem with the lack of certificates appears. The thing I least want is to use a service of url shorter that can give a problem to those who try to access the final site.
365  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2013-03-19] Bitcoin’s Share of Total Crypto Market Slips Back Toward 50% on: March 20, 2019, 03:36:29 AM
I do not think it's the new projects added and created out of nowhere that are influencing this dominance. I think it's some projects that have lost a lot of value over Bitcoin and are slowly recovering. This has happened several times. To really influence dominance, the volume needs to be very large, not just the price.

If you consider Mastering Bitcoin complicated and difficult, I think it would be interesting to first read the original whitepaper and a commented version.
A simple and didactic book is the Bitcoin for Dummies

O meu faltam agora 22 merits. Smiley
369  Economy / Trading Discussion / Chinese Investors Return to Bitcoin with Yuan Being Second Entry Fiat Currency on: March 19, 2019, 02:43:53 PM
https://news.8btc.com/chinese-investors-return-to-bitcoin-with-yuan-being-second-entry-fiat-currency

The cryptocurrency market has seen a surge of capital in Chinese yuan (CNY) inflow, making the currency in the top entry fiat currencies close behind U.S. dollar in the past 24 hours.

Data from Coinlib shows that $161.7 million worth of Chinese yuan pour into the bitcoin market, followed by $74 million into Ethereum and nearly $20 million into Stellar. A total of $255 million worth of CNY-crypto pairs in the past 24 hours has make CNY the second entry fiat currency into crypto economy after the U.S. dollar.

Unfortunately, it is very difficult to understand the legislation and intentions of the Chinese government. But it may be that the Chinese population is safer to invest in Bitcoin through p2p.

He was probably a Full Member when the system was implemented and at some point deleted all his posts which made his ranking become Newbie again.
371  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: May be a dumb question: MultiSig wallet Electrum on: March 19, 2019, 02:12:26 PM

Hypothetical question:
If anything happen with Electrum wallet (Let's say they stop working for the community) then how will I recover my wallet?

You can use Mycelium to recover. I think it's also possible with copay.io, although I've never used this wallet.

It is important to say that Mods could edit any post in the sections they moderate. But they only do this if necessary. I think this options suggested by OP could be useful in some sections as altcoin announcement.

He was not the founder. And as a company, My gox was fucked since the inception. It ha many flaws and horrible security. Justice isn't good at punishment for incompetent people and company. But the market is.
375  Other / Politics & Society / Re: New Zealand ChristChurch mass shootings >:( >:( on: March 16, 2019, 12:43:02 PM
in the Brazilian media, some articles have reported that one of the terrorists had made money by investing in cryptocurrencies. Has anyone even read or researched this? I have not seen any proof of this in other articles. Although I have read few. I believe that for all the sensationalism that usually involves subjects related to Bitcoin, I do not doubt that the media will begin to explore this.
376  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk forum social media channels? on: March 16, 2019, 12:21:22 PM
I think theymos should choose a user he trust that would be responsible for finding good discussions, problem solving or good guides that have been posted on the forum, and making the link available using the twitter account. These shared topics could be watched with attention by the Mods so that the discussion remained at a high level.

We need to demonstrate that we still have high-level discussions here. And we can not expect people who are not immersed in the forum to find them.

378  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-03-14] Famous Swiss Investor Marc Faber Finally Buys Bitcoin on: March 14, 2019, 11:08:09 PM
Although the name is already known to me, I decided to read the wikipedia about him to understand the importance of what is occurring, and ...

"Faber predicted the rise of oil, precious metals, other commodities, emerging markets, and especially China in his book Tomorrow's Gold: Asia's Age of Discovery"

This guy is really fantastic at anticipating many moves in the market. Of course, he must have been wrong a lot. But from this brief research I've done on him, such news is fantastic. It is a person who understands how the market moves, how it behaves globally. And he not only bought it because he believed the price would go up, but he also bought it because he saw an overall utility in the use of Bitcoin.

Funny that he has a nickname of "Dr. Doom"
379  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk.org did it into the big cryptomedia today.... on: March 14, 2019, 09:52:58 PM
CCN is just a news blog specialized in cryptocurrency that receives fewer visitors than bitcointalk...

BTW, It would be interesting if in the Press section we had this distinction. Among blogs and websites specialized in cryptocurrency, which would be posted in other sections, and news and articles from traditional news websites like CNN, Bloomberg, NY Times etc.
380  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bittrex cancelled RAID IEO Offering at the last minute. on: March 14, 2019, 05:27:21 PM
But they explained, the Raid team made some modifications a few hours before Bittrex started the offer. In addition, there are several doubts about the legitimacy of the RAID team. I would not invest in this project. It would be the first project launched by the platform, would be disastrous for Bittrex if it was not a good project.
