302  Other / Meta / Re: How to combat the surge in scam ICOs on: September 05, 2017, 01:38:59 PM
Given that scammers are now realising that we can routinely post warnings in their unmoderated threads, which alerts non-forum users reading it who are oblivious to the negative trust rating they wear, moderated threads are being used instead.

This means they can keep deleting our warnings and non-forum users won't see the red trust text alerting them to the scam accounts.

The best solution to this problem would be for Theymos to set Default Trust-issued ratings to be visible even when viewed by guests. I don't imagine it would be that difficult to implement, as everybody has DT as their default from the get-go and have to actually opt-out of it if they don't want to see it, so making it visible for non-members, too, makes sense, no?

303  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [ICO SCAM] Karbon is just another ICO scam with a bot-posted thread on: September 04, 2017, 03:01:06 PM
why are the bots made to post literally every 1 minute on 1 account. Why aren't they programmed to post every 40 minutes or so?... I saw a few weeks ago an ICO that got around 700,000 views in under 24 hours. (I might not remember correctly, but it was certainly a large number - an unrealistic value).

Because they need to keep the thread from dropping down the first page of the forum and, as they generally have very little time between announcing their [insert bullshit 'innovative' fairy-dust-blockchain-ethereum-token-platform here] project and actually launching the ICO, they need to pump the thread up to large numbers of posts very quickly.

It also helps to bury the influx of posts alerting other users to the fact the ICO is a scam. Many of these frauds are conducted across multiple social-media platforms and users who load a bitcointalk page and are not logged in will not see the negative trust rating the scammer accounts usually pick up. If the page they see doesn't include a post warning them it is a scam they may believe it is legit because it appears to be a busy thread.

Frankly, barring a low-single-digit number of genuine ICOs with potential, you should consider them all as scams or, at best, poorly-constructed cash-grabs to prop up failing businesses or to bail their team-members out of personal debt.

They don't look any different to me than what was happening during 2014/15 with copy-pasta clone-coin projects which were hyped by largely-anonymous scammers posting endless pages of 'Wall St and Whales' memes, promising their coin was just about to 'moon' at any moment, shortly before they dumped their bags on the market and ran with the bitcoin.

305  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [ICO SCAM] Karbon is just another ICO scam with a bot-posted thread on: September 04, 2017, 10:20:36 AM

And another bot-posting account repeatedly posting the same content from before and then deleting it and replacing it.
So what would some of you guys suggest I put into this? I ahve 2 BTC at the moment so I was thinking of putting somewhere around 2. into this. What have some of you put into this? Im not trying to risk that much but im not super sure right now.
when was this project announced? (like before the thread start date)
When is the distribution period for something like this?

Or have they already done it?

I know a lot of ICOs do it differently but I was just curious!
Still looking for bounty!

If anybody has some campaigns Id be super interested
Any bounty info in this thread?

I know Im comin in a bit late but I thought Op might still have some stuff available
Not sure who told me to read the whitepaper earlier but I honestly dont think anybody does anymore. Theyre honestly so long that I dont get it. Id actually pay a little for a service that would shorten them all down and condense them to their most basic points. I hope I just gave someone inspiration lol
306  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [ICO SCAM] Karbon is just another ICO scam with a bot-posted thread on: September 02, 2017, 10:30:22 AM
why you are absolutely certain this is a scam?

They were caught posting 100 pages of repeating bot-posts on their thread. That alone is sufficient to know they are fraudulently misrepresenting their ICO, let alone numerous other aspects to the con you can practice spotting yourself.

Извините, но я не понимаю при чем здесь ICO данного проекта. Тема называется про баунти менеджеров и они здесь как бы себя показать должны. И никто вроде не обсуждает этот проект.

OP - мошенник ICO

Still, their page was advertised on coinmarketcap just recently and is on quite a few legit pages
Thanks

Treat EVERYTHING you read on CoinTelegraph.com as suspicious. They are the number 1 promoter of scams and have been for a long time now.
They don't give a shit about you, they only care that they get paid for adverts and promo-articles masquerading as 'news'.

Any reliable source for this bullshit? Roll Eyes

Just the posts from the scammer himself which you omitted from your quote. Sure, you could claim, "well, he's a scammer so maybe he was lying", but he had previously been silent for some months following his 'LetItRide' scam being exposed, albeit he had managed to con several hundred btc out of people through it, and he had absolutely no reason to come out of hiding in order to make the demand that he did.

There would have been nothing to gain from him making this up and, given that he did not in the end have to "bring a shit storm" over the matter, I'm betting he was indeed given back those 375 BTC.

I said as much at the time but this thread was so full of fawning fanbois with dollar-signs in their eyes at how this ICO was going to make them rich while they slept because there was so many bitcoins being invested in it, nobody was interested.

Chronobank. Where is my money?Huh?? I did what you asked and lived up to my part of the deal. Now it's time for you to pay up or im going to bring a shit storm on your head.
The clock is ticking.

Hey,

We'd be happy to help you if you have any issues. However, could you be a little bit more specific, please?

Yeah, your fucking boss asked me to put in btc and told me I could have them back on the 15th. I've been emailing and messaging him since the 15th and he's ignoring me.

I WANT MY FUCKING BTC BACK NOW! 375 BTC ARE OWED TO ME FROM YOUR BOSS

Because irrelevant wallet features are easier and cheaper to hype than implementing an economic business model through the supposed underlying employment-agency platform everybody was promised.

314  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM ICO] ENKO - again a sketchy Sex ICO on: August 31, 2017, 11:46:46 AM
I suggest you to remove the negative trust until you will have not only strong will to make accusations, but at least one strong proof.

You can suggest all you like but it isn't going to be removed. You're fraudulently misrepresenting your operation as being a legitimate project of significant size and scope and you've just admitted that, at best, it is you with your 'idea' plus another, unidentified 'dev'. It is most likely, however, just another blatant scam seeking to con people into sending ETH to your address before you abandon your anonymous forum accounts and pocket the money.

You really are not very skilled at deception.

315  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM ICO] ENKO - again a sketchy Sex ICO on: August 31, 2017, 11:13:18 AM
I can buy an old domain and pay anyone to use their registration details for $200 USD.
But I didn't that

So by that statement you're confirming what we already knew, it is just you, the scammer, attempting a "quick send money now!!1!1!1!" 'pre-ico' fraud.

You have no operation, no staff, no project and you've been busted using fake profiles. You are just yet-another-ICO-scammer.
