Thanks CYPER, I should have checked with numbers like that.  I have had companies claim that kind of number before, and put them up just to show that it was unreasonable.

Your calculations are still wrong  Roll Eyes

It is very easy to calculate - Blade Speed / Bitcoin Price

So 75GH/s / ($1099/102) = 75/10.774 = 6.96 GH/B

Btw do you use the same USD/BTC exchange rate for all machines? I would assume you import it dynamically every time the table is refreshed by the viewer?

But still I think you should stick to GH/s per USD Wink
1342  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNC Miner Discounts--Gauging Interest. on: August 10, 2013, 02:40:13 AM
The price will drop for November delivery only.
The reseller program is active now Wink

Yeah, but I wouldn't want to pay $4000 for a device in late October that will be available for $3000 in November. Tongue
With that logic no one should order anything now but wait until November.

I just read the newsletter and the news posted here, if they will deliver units that hash higher than 400GH/s AND early this will practically turn them into legends around here Grin.

Please sir have my like  Grin

loling at myself..  Their page is password protected, so I took their miners off my list.  Obviously it's just so they can update it for tomorrow though.  I'll fix my page then.  Please have some info on who is designing chips, it is strange you still have job listings posted.  If that and the manufacturing company are explained then a lot of people will be excited to jump on board.

Your comparison table is wrong.

Have a look: http://res.cloudinary.com/hrscywv4p/image/upload/c_limit,h_900,w_1200/joenspmvlcveo2uzlaue.png

Olympus is $999 per blade, but each blade is 75GH/s, thus for 1.2TH/s you need 16 blades as shown in the picture = $15984

Basically each blade is 75GH/s and the more you buy the cheaper it gets, the cheapest being $999 when you buy 8 or more for the Olympus Wink

I don't think there is 9.6TH/s product, not even 3.7TH/s

The fastest is Olympus with 32 blades for a total of 2.4TH/s and a price of $31968.

Not sure why there are different prices underneath???
Also their pricing doesn't seem consistent, because cheaper product are better in terms of cost per GH/s.

I'm going to refer myself retroactively.

You are making 10 orders?

Sounds interesting Smiley
Another guy offered future payments from the free miner when delivered, but that seems much more difficult to enforce Smiley
I think I'd rather have a fixed amount now, than trusting a complete stranger to pay in the future.

But 2BTC seems an unfair distribution of the profit. It would cost you 20BTC to get a free Jupiter.
I think one can easily offer double that amount Wink

I even think that from now on it would be beneficial for the community to organize group buys and share the profit from the free miner.

I will be ordering 2x Jupiters and 1x Saturn, so would be interested to be a part of a group buy, where we all order through an affiliate link and share the profit from the free miner between the group Smiley

"You can request a full refund on your order before shipping starts."

I understand that as when shipping for my own order starts, not when shipping for all orders start.
It doesn't make any sense to close the refund window in September, when shipping for the first unit start, does it?
1351  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASIC Miners Hosting Options in London/UK on: August 09, 2013, 01:30:08 PM
Ok obv it's Friday afternoon, so don't count on an answer till next week. Wink

Obviously  Grin

What have you found?
1352  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASIC Miners Hosting Options in London/UK on: August 09, 2013, 01:19:19 PM
I've actually found something that looks quite cool on paper. Need to ask some questions. Anything, aside security I should be aware of before I call them?

All bills included?
24 hours access?
Type of data connection and any time restrictions on usage?
Air conditioned?
Minimum term?
Insurance for damage if anything happens?

If their intent is to sell to business only they should require a valid VAT number to accept orders.

Not a valid point as you are not required by law to register for VAT unless you are above the threshold Wink
So you can be a business entity and have no VAT registration Smiley
1356  Bitcoin / Hardware / ASIC Miners Hosting Options in London/UK on: August 08, 2013, 10:54:11 PM
Let's discuss the hosting options here in the UK.

I'm interested in the option of renting a small office. What are the monthly rates in zones 3/4 and are all the bills usually included?
Or maybe self storage, but I doubt they have electricity or internet connection in the rooms.
Data centres?
Any other alternatives?
1357  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 08, 2013, 10:32:03 PM
Have a look at their official terms and conditions at their website (one had to accept before one can finalize the order).

First they strictly treat you as a business customer:

"1.2   The Products are sold for business use only and Purchaser hereby accepts that it has purchased the Products in order to conduct a business."

I specifically asked KnCMiner about this point of their terms and conditions:
Quote from: Me
Q: Hi,
I read the following clause in your terms and conditions page:

"1.2   The Products are sold for business use only and Purchaser hereby
accepts that it has purchased the Products in order to conduct a business."

What does this implies?
I don't have an EU VAT number, can I still buy your products as a private individual?
Quote from: KnCMiner
A: Hi,

Yes you can still buy our products. What it means is that we don't sell consumer goods and therefore you as a customer are expected to have made an informed decision. Ordinary consumer rights legislation does not apply to the purchase. Instead the terms and conditions regulate warranty etc.

Thanks,
Carl

So, it appears they're effectively trying to safeguard themselves against "ordinary consumer rights legislation" but I don't think that their T&C is valid if in contrast with the EU law. I'm not a lawyer but I think there is the possibility that pretending to apply business rules to consumers by means of their T&C (the contract) could be deemed as an "unfair contract term".
Obviously, since every "EU law" is actually an "EU directive", what makes a (legal) point is Sweden's implementation of the consumer rights EU directives.

By buying their products you are agreeing to the T&C and thus explicitly agreeing that you are acting as a business and thus "forfeiting" consumer rights.

This is clear in Belgian law (double checked, lawyers & all) but I'm waiting for an answer re EU law (might not be fast).

The Section 75 bit *WOULD* only apply in the UK (and I'm really not sure it would stick - CC phone operators are not exactly in charge of these things and I wouldn't be surprised if their promises/word were discarded by the first judge).

if you say you are a business, you buy business only equipment, to use for a business purpose, then you want to convince your CC company/judge you're a consumer? If it quacks like a duck...

Also, if there was to be a massive refund, it would mean bankrupcy for KNCMINER and thus no money for anyone. Alea jacta est, the only thing you can do now is wait.

Sorry, but you can't be serious that some company T&C can define if I am a business user or not. That is defined by me, not them.
They might as well write: "The Products are sold for Moon use only and Purchaser hereby accepts that it has purchased the Products in order to use them on the moon only."
If I decide to be a business I register with the tax authorities in a certain capacity (self employed person, limited company, etc)
Purchasing a product from a company online does not change my tax status or register me as a business entity Smiley

I assume it is a limited company, thus Johan Rilegård and Andreas Kennemar cannot be held financially responsible, even though they are CEO and CTO of Orsoc?
1359  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 08, 2013, 01:17:14 PM
EU rules say: If you did not recieve your product within 30 days you are lawfully entitled to get a refund!

30 days from what?
From order date.

Which I believe is the case with KNC - they have said before that they will refund anyone unless they have started shipping your order Wink
