I ask KNC and they confirmed it: My question: Does your PayPal account allow direct card payments, without opening an account of my own? Their answer: You have to have a PayPal account to pay with card over PayPal. You still have to pay the balance of your card off. It's not free money!
I'm perfectly aware of this  I have the money, I just want to get myself better protection  Not the impression I got from Paypal, but I know KnC had to deal with a very specific agreement and terms after BFL, so perhaps in this case you may need an account. By verifying you in this case may deter and prevent scams on KnC and Paypal. I have a Premier Verified PP account, but according to THIS article I might be covered under Section 75 if I pay though it. |

Interesting... So I can only make a 5GBP payment to KNCminer using my credit card and the rest with the debit card and still be protected for the full amount. However because you can't pay via PayPal directly without having an account that might invalidate the protection, because you have to login into your PP account and pay that way  I wonder if KNCminer would be happy to get a small CC payment and the rest via a debit card. |

If you've got a UK bank account and its got an IBAN and BIC code (you will have one - ask your bank if it's not on your monthly statement and/or internet banking screen), it will support SEPA. SEPA is not optional, all banks in the European Economic Area are required to be on it by 2014 I think. FYI; The process is entirely transparent to you (the end user) - your bank determines which method it will use for completing the transfer (SWIFT, SEPA, FPS, CHAPS etc etc)... and bills you accordingly Even so I just created a payee using the new MTGox Withdrawal Center Wizard and the only option was International Wire Transfer - I tried just with the IBAN and again just with the BIC. It appears MTGox doesn't offer SEPA for UK bank account, even if they would accept it  |

I think in practical terms the only way to buy Bitcoins using funds from a UK sterling bank account is to convert from sterling to dollars/Euros and then send the funds by SWIFT to a dollar or Euro exchange. As far as I know, there are no active exchanges except for Gox with a sterling/BTC market.
SEPA via TransferWise is the best for deposits But it looks like the only options for withdrawals from MTGox to a UK GBP Account is International Wire Transfer with the usual 2000 yens fee + any intermediary fees |

For example if my CC limit is 3000GBP I can make a deposit of 2000GBP to my CC account and thus my available balance will be 5000GBP.
If I make a purchase for 5000GBP then for what amount is the bank liable?

I will probably do that, but just want to know what to expect before I do it. For example I asked one of the banks where I hold an account if they support incoming SEPA payments - the guy hasn't even heard of it. He said they only support SWIFT payments. I am sure that you can also set up an account with an English bank, which runs in EURO. Every small business has serveral bank accounts in different currencies. That's not special. Just ask your bank.

Warning: SEPA has never been "quick"! At least not for me. But I still get my money after a few weeks. I never withdarawl more than 999 euros in one go. If I want to do SEPA my only option is to buy Bitcoins and then sell them for Euro, right?
You have to switch your account to EURO. It will cost you 2.5% of your dollar assets. Then you need a SEPA bank account. You verify it with Mt. Gox and than you can withdrawal your money. It's maybe not worth worrying about. It might save you a few weeks. Bank transfers always take long for Bitcoin. There are always times where individual exchanges are faster, but once all this AML shit comes with in it takes forever. Plan just several weeks or month. A year ago there was not so much money on Gox. Therefore, it was faster, also because Gox has ignored the laws. Now while everyone wants to withdrawal and the FINCEN is behind them it takes maybe forever. I did not even know until a few weeks ago that USD withdrawals went so fast in the past. I always tought it would be normal to have to wait several weeks. So nothing has changed for me. Are you aware if I can make a SEPA payment to a UK GBP denominated account? |

SEPA is an abbreviation for Singe Euro Payments Area http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single_Euro_Payments_AreaEuro only. I don't live in the UK, but I think that most high street banks will allow you to open a Euro account. You could then use SEPA to withdraw to it, and then ask your bank to convert the Euro to GBP. I don't think there is a UK bank that offers a free Euro account. I just called Citibank and they charge 5 a month. Any other ideas? |

Can you please let me know if I understood things correctly So SEPA withdrawals can only be made if I have euros in MTGox or any other exchange. If I have USD then I'll have to buy Bitcoin and sell them for euro? I'm based in the UK and I want to know what will happen if I request a SEPA withdrawal - is that even possible if I give UK bank account details. I just spoke with my bank and they said they only support SWIFT international transfers and the guy wasn't even aware of what SEPA is. My questions are valid for all exchanges btw. P.S - I am aware of the looooong delays in MTGox withdrawals. |
