Brazil makes it FOUR..

Another beautiful play finished off this time by Lucas Paqueta and set up by the scorer of the first Gail Vinicious Junior.
They look like they would find the back of the net anytime they attack and would be a long 50+ remaining minutes for the Koreans.
1382  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Small Scale Businesses should accept Cryptocurrencies as a medium of payment on: December 05, 2022, 07:33:34 PM
If you make 50 cents from a sale (as opposed to big businesses which make $50 a sale let's say) then you're paying off miner fees, consolidation fees, not to mention exchange fees.
Using lightening network could help reduce the fees paid a lot and make it profitable for a business to operate.

Unless you want to only keep revenue in crypto and use fiat for continued capital, but then you're not really a small scale business that needs profit in this case Smiley
This poses a major problem for such small businesses. Quite a few of them do not have the cash flow that a company like microstrategy has to hold some of their revenue in bitcoins. They have the option of using a payment processor to convert the bitcoins to fiat immediately, which presents them with exchange fees for each transaction.
1383  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bridge from multiple networks to BTC network anonymously? on: December 05, 2022, 07:18:39 PM
But take note using mixer/coinjoin for additional privacy has trade-off where many centralized exchange/service would reject your account and demand lots of explanation/personal information so you can keep using their service or at least return mixed coin.
This is something every privacy inclined user should keep in mind. You might not have much problem s trading on a decentralized or P2P platform, but when trying to use a centralized exchange, you could hit some barriers.

This is one reason to check with a little amount of coins when making a transaction on an exchange first to ensure you can see it to completion, to avoid having your bitcoins locked on an exchange.
1384  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Qatar world cup Final Predictions on: December 05, 2022, 07:10:10 PM
Brazil take an early leas against Korea republic, with a nice finish from Vinicious Junior and great play from Raphinha leading up to goal.
The wave of the match favours Brazil already, they've been by far the better side and would grow in confidence after getting a goal before the 10 minute mark.

Korea has it all to do now, as they were already at a disadvantage even before the first whistle.

Edit; Goes from bad to worse for Korea as Brazil wins a penalty,

Edit 2; Neymar takes Brazil 2 nil up.

We're they recommended by the person you were trading with?
A quick search shows they've been running a scam project for many years now, and the person who suggested using that website most likely is culpable as well.

is there any chance i can get it back?
It depends on what you sent; if it's crypto currency, independently recovering the funds isn't possible, but if the owners are discovered by law enforcement agencies, then there might be a slight possibility.

is there any chance i can do something to get this site down?
This is not reported to be a case of phishing, but you can report the website here - https://safebrowsing.google.com/safebrowsing/report_phish/?hl=en
There's no guarantee it would be brought down, but it's worth the few seconds.
1386  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Am I right or wrong on: December 04, 2022, 07:58:35 PM
I'm guessing the only option they have is to join?
They have some other options;

• They can try to replicate the network by creating CBDCs which function on the blockchain, but this would not be a popular alternative,
• They can regulate its usage within the country and place heavy taxations on Bitcoin related transactions,
• They can outrightly ban the network and make it illegal to use,
• They can try to benefit of the surge of the network and become more Bitcoin friendly to attract developers and investors alike.

They could do any of this while buying Bitcoin, and neither of it really matters as it's not in our control how the government reacts. What's in your control is how you store your bitcoins that no government would be able to control.
1387  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bridge from multiple networks to BTC network anonymously? on: December 04, 2022, 07:49:44 PM
You can use a peer to peer exchange like bisq to maintain your anonymity. I know Ethereum is accepted on bisq, but not certain on the other altcoins.

Using a bridge between to obfuscate the trail of transaction can also help, this involves using a coin mixing service like chipmixer before sending to the decentralized exchange. This way, anyone monitoring the transaction would not know the source of the bitcoins which were inputs in it and cannot link it to an identity.
1388  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Vision on: December 04, 2022, 07:28:31 PM
Bitcoin vision is to be a peer to peer network which would remove the need for an intermediary between transactions and give its holders the freedom to handle their finances while remaining pseudo anonymous.

Any other vision can be said to be ones personal expectation of the network and how adoption would improve with time.
A lot is still yet to be seen about the future of Bitcoin; with the current rate of growth it looks very optimistic, and I would expect more use ases for Bitcoin being discovered and improvements being made to make it more suitable for daily purchases.
1389  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Should I copy my electrum wallets to USB for extra backups? on: December 04, 2022, 07:12:00 PM
What I'm worried about is someone finding my written down seed and being able to use it, while, if they found a thumb drive they would not be able to use it without the password, which only I remember.
Discretion should be highly considered when storing your back ups and you can play around with it a bit to ensure that if anyone does find it, they would but be able to access your funds with only that information.
An extended seedphrase is one option, and works better than omitting one of the words when writing it down.
You can also have a multi-sig wallet and store them in different locations, so finding one of then would not grant access to the funds.
1390  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bank accounts on: December 03, 2022, 05:42:47 AM
And if that individual is picked up by the police for some different reason like money laundering guess whose name will be on the list of the people he has exchanged money with?  Grin
There is a small risk of that obviously, but with the way exchanges are designed, they indicate the number of trades a P2P seller has made in the past before you decide to trade with him or her, this means they would have exchanged money with a lot of people.
What are the odds that they would all be tracked down?

These sorts of transactions have already been made kinda illegal by the regulators though too Smiley. Sounds like a nice way to stop people investing in crypto and putting funds in zero interest bank accounts..
Alright, I was not aware of the entire scope of the regulations.

In Nigeria for example, the ban on bitcoin only covers bank transactions directly funding an exchange wallet or buying from it, but does not make P2P transactions illegal.
1391  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: My dad got a Ledger from Best Buy.... on: December 03, 2022, 05:20:34 AM
Can anyone else please confirm my hesitation with the Best Buy purchase?
Yes, your hesitation is appropriate.
Best Buy allows third party purchases and anyone can try to sell an item of theirs through the platform, this makes it possible for someone to sell a flawed device or one with a set of preset keys which can allow them possibly steal funds which are sent to it, if the user does not wipe the device first.

But who knows, how can you trust anyone? How can ledger not even be questioned? They have in the past but have continued to be one of the best cold storage hardware wallets. Recently the old micro 5 bit Nano S option isn’t even available on their site anymore. He also went with the bluetooth ledger one, which I also told him was much less secure. But it appears that they changed them all. Can someone tell me what is the currently the ledger wallet that is most secure? If not Ledger then what is the best cold storage wallet in your opinion & what facts do you have to back that up?
Ledger should infact be questioned. In crypto, you do not trust you verify.
• Question how their products are closed source and it is impossible for buyers to verify the code which it runs on, leaving risks for hacks,
• Also question the durability of their products.

I personally don't use ledger and refrain from suggesting a hardware wallet to use, as it's a delicate business.
Do your own research based on what you prioritize in a hardware wallet and make your decision.

I think ledger wallet is for those people have larger money I mean from 100k dollars plus value.
With a Bitcoin holding worth $1k, buying a hardware wallet is a shrewd decision, considering how much they are worth relative to it. If you go as high as $5k, then it becomes a necessity.
1392  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for December on: December 02, 2022, 08:05:44 PM
I erroneously voted 'No', while I wanted to vote for 'Yes'.
I personally think we have hit the bottom for this cycle, but do not really have some technical analysis to back that up. It's of course an unpredictable market and can still go much lower than this, or have a dead cat bounce and then dip again.
1393  Other / Off-topic / Re: Am I being scammed? on: December 02, 2022, 07:04:07 PM
He and I have been in contact and I have transferred 2 amounts to him. Fortunately not overly high.
What was the purpose of the 2 transfers you made to him and through what means did you do that?

Quote
Am I being scammed?
Yes, you've been scammed already and the scammers are trying to see how much they can squeeze out of you before greed wears off and reality begins to set in.
First rule of being scammed;

1394  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why We People Cannot Think Like Whales 🐋 🐳? on: December 02, 2022, 06:54:45 PM
You don't necessarily have to think like anyone, all you have to do is actually "think" before investing. Understand how Bitcoin works and why you plan to invest, plan how to hold your coins safely (cause when investing, privacy and autonomy should be a priority) and without the need for a third party, then you either use Bitcoins as a currency or safe it up as an asset.

Whales do not act in accordance or have a singular way of thinking, so trying to copy such a template is not really practical.

Hmm, so if by definition whales are those with huge share of bitcoin then you know very well with that kinda money at your disbursal you can do miracles! The miracles which can collapse the whole ecosystem in a night and just to refresh your memory,
Whales cannot collapse the whole Bitcoin ecosystem in one night or in a hundred, they can only try to do so and most likely lose their holdings in the process and the market would recover after a while.
1395  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bank accounts on: December 01, 2022, 03:48:50 AM
People this is ridiculous. It is clearly their money not mine. Of course they cover their asses with terms and conditions blablabla
Just as with a centralized exchange, money kept at the bank, is owned by the bank, they just allow you use it, when you make a request. And, over the previous weeks, many U.K. banks have resolved not to let their citizens use it in what they consider a high risk market.
Starling bank, Santander bank and most recently, U.K. high Street banks have implemented some sort of restrictions on crypto related transactions. See more

Are there any UK banks that don't do this shit?
I am seriously considering moving somewhere else or cashing out completely.
If there are, there is a big chance they would be joining the list soon. Have you considered trading P2P?
Here you don't need to directly fund an exchange account, which the bank has to approve of. You only make a random transaction to an individual, who sends you the crypto you want to your wallet.
1396  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Is Approaching $17000 on: November 30, 2022, 11:23:00 AM
If there is something I did not miss about a rising market, it has to be the threads which are opened anytime there is a movement on the charts.

The Wall Observer thread is one place you can discuss intermittent price movements in the Bitcoin market.
1397  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My gut is telling me that I am missing a part here on: November 30, 2022, 10:43:16 AM
Binance exchange is a centralised exchange right? But they provide P2P, is it ok to say P2P is decentralized?
No.
P2P is a feature on most exchanges which allows people to trade directly with another party, without having to put up a sell it buy order and wait for it be taken or buy at the market value, where the exchange would match them up with a seller or buyer.

Decentralized and Centralized platforms alike can have a P2P system, the difference is that in a DEX, they do not hold your funds and you would be trading directly from your personal wallet to the buyers address. This is not the case in a CEX where you need to find an address which is owned by the exchange and then trade directly from their with another peer.
1398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What will be the next crypto craze? on: November 29, 2022, 08:22:38 PM
This post is not particular to Bitcoin and should be moved to the altcoin discussion section.
First, it was Bitcoin appearance.
It has always been the Bitcoin experience. With devs experimenting the blockchain model in-between to create some fairly useful or outrightly shitty new projects. But through it all, Bitcoin has been the one constant in the crypto space.

A lot of developments have been a part of the industry growth, so my question here is, what do you guys think will be the next craze in the industry?
Hopefully a craze to use P2P platforms and get their bitcoins off exchanges. And, we get to see Lightening Network become more popular and adopted.
1399  Economy / Reputation / Re: Is Satoshi a Russian? on: November 29, 2022, 08:02:10 PM
This has made me think that Satoshi is a Russian. I said so because I am a Nigerian. If I am able to develop something like because, I will bring my people in to take early spot and they will also support me when necessary.
Satoshi needed to be covert with his activities as privacy was very high in his priority. Introducing people from your country to the new technology and to such a large extent that it becomes the most populate local board in the forum created for that technology would surely not help you to stay anonymous or private.

There is no other evidence apart from what I presented above which is not concrete. If I am not correct can somebody explain to me why there are many Russians in the forum?
Possible reasons;
• They have a strong interest in Bitcoin,
• They have a connected local community which encourages users to identify as Russians,
• They had an early interest in Bitcoin technology, etcetera.
1400  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bringing it back to your ears: Not your keys, not your coins on: November 29, 2022, 07:42:19 PM
Noted, I am very much aware of all these crypto wallet / centralized exchanges warning but my goal now is a Decentralized trading platform that works just like a centralised exchange, a crypto trader still have no choice but to use cex for trading and this will make them to send their BTC to CEX.
The major reason why DEX is not favoured by many is cause most have low liquidity when compared with bugger centralized exchanges, and this is a result of most users opting to use such centralized exchanges, boosting the userbase and its liquidity.

Having more people shift to decentralized platforms would make then more profitable to operate and run and also make them more attractive to other traders.
