1461  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Early Sign to Adopt Bitcoin by Nigerian Government on: November 05, 2022, 08:27:12 PM
That said I think the news OP posted is another political propaganda from the current government in sit. Nigeria has her general elections February next year and the government who has been hard on crypto-currency comes up with this it's just to buy I over people.
This is a very valid perspective.
For a country which is very antagonistic to Bitcoin growth and development, having to train individuals in blockchain tech seems incongruent with the stance so far. It could be a political propaganda from the government to influence elections, although I doubt it would have much of an effect on the more educated members of the populace.

Also, it is worth pointing out the fact the article makes direct reference to BSV, the closed source Bitcoin clone controlled by the faketoshi. I do not know what is going own but this article does not give me a good feeling, I would not trust its content without more confirmation.
Neither would I.
The association with BSV is shady and with lots of information clouded in secrecy, I would await more details on how the training program would work, and how the incubation program would also work
1462  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN PRICE 1.25M$ EACH on: November 05, 2022, 05:18:04 PM
If you think about it and let's look at it, it's a very good feeling and a lot of fun if that's the price of a Bitcoin, that is if you have bitcoin holdings in the long term.
A random mention of Bitcoin in a movie scene does not indicate price action or movements. As mentioned already, it could be a sort of "click bait", to help with advertising of the movie, by getting users to share that particular scene and publicize the movie. Movies do this with subtitles and use of certain trending topics to boost the marketing.

$1.25 million is a probable amount within the next 5 decades or so, but who would hold that long?
1463  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: One word is enough on: November 04, 2022, 01:06:22 PM
I can't see the correlation between the topic title and the content. If you have learned a this g or two on the forum, you don't need to announce that in a thread; teach others or apply what you've learnt practically.

You have cleared off all of your bounty spam posts, but are yet to replace then with actual quality content. And with only 3 posts in 2022 and none in 2021, there's little to no activity on your account. You of course could be reading around the forum, without actually joining the discussions, and good for you if that's the case.
1464  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sports and entertainment industries could play a big role in Bitcoin adoption. on: November 04, 2022, 12:45:20 PM
Every industry with a a wide customer base could play a huge role in the adoption of blockchain technology.
Sports and entertainment are one of the largest global industries and has had a role in the growth of several crypto related niches over the years.

I if they constantly accept Bitcoin payment for their shows and events. Like some clubs already doing this and the response is welcoming.

If musicians follow suit, I think there would be massive adoption as most of them are Bitcoin informed and  inclined. Artists could help spread the move on Bitcoin adoption.
People act on their personal gain or interest. We have had companies, trust funds, payment gateways and even individuals like Elon associate with Bitcoin to market themselves or their services.
If musicians or sport teams do not see the personal gain, they would most likely not associate with the technology.
1465  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where to start coding/programming from 0 on: November 01, 2022, 03:25:35 PM
Youtube tutorials will help you a lot. I've been watching channels like Bucky and Traversy Media when it comes to any languages/frameworks.
YouTube tutorials are a great help. I am very new to programing but find that I learn twice or three times as fast on YouTube than I would on some course platform, even on the interactive ones . And it's also more practical as you feel you have a personal tutor (which is the best way to learn imo).
I'll check out the channels you included, thanks for sharing them.
1466  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Warning]:Android droppers in Google play distributing banking and crypto trojan on: November 01, 2022, 10:07:02 AM
*to download everything.
That's the best advice, but it's the only way many know how to (especially for those that use Android devices). They need to find a way to stay safe regardless and being security consciousness would help to prevent majority of phishing attempts.
People do not value data much and easily allow multiple permissions just to use a game or live streaming app risking their privacy and funds.

I would advise against holding any sum in BTC you can't afford to lose on your phone, it's more like a lottery, in 99% of the cases you will not get infected or lose your money but when you do, you will lose everything.
And 100% of people who use mobile devices as a means of storage hope they would not be the 1% who gets ripped off.

I personally keep a little amount for daily transactions on my mobile device, but no more than that. The frequency of transactions I make determine how much I leave in an address and how well I secure it.
1467  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Warning]:Android droppers in Google play distributing banking and crypto trojan on: November 01, 2022, 08:33:02 AM
Google play store is literally the worst way to download sensitive applications, as they can very easily be phished, and even after reporting, it takes ages for them to be removed, only for new ones to pop up almost immediately.

I would be reporting and urge people to verify the authenticity of any app they download, especially to a device where they hold funds (fiat or Bitcoin).
1468  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will Fed take tomorrow? on: November 01, 2022, 05:52:39 AM
Give me a good cause to make a big short (long) trade, I'm ready with cash  Tongue
If you got the cash; then do the research.
There are tons on information out there on inflation and the investment qualities of Bitcoin, sift through that and make your decision to invest.
1469  Other / Meta / Re: post deletion issue on: October 31, 2022, 08:59:58 PM
Majority of the time members have an issue with their deleted posts, it turns out that they were spam posts which were rightly deleted.
Keep working on improving how you post and joining more constructive discussions.

If I make 5 new posts today then the old 5 posts are getting deleted.

If I don't make any new posts then the old post is not getting deleted. I don't understand if it's a bug or something. Huh
Maybe, the more you post, the more visible your account is, and the more likely your spam post is to be seen and reported. Moderators after checking would act on the reports based on their discretion.
1470  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: THE UNNECESSARY PRESSURE FOR MERITS on: October 31, 2022, 06:59:38 PM
The pressure is mostly self inflicted by the user. I find it to be newer member who discuss merits more, giving tips on how to I get them and how not to.
There is a certain fascination with ranks, coins and privileges associated with those ranks, but that doesn't create any desperation, except the user already has one or develops one.

The forum, is just like every other online forum or group, and all one is needed to do is just to discuss and share ideas, ask necessary question, answer questions, help solve a problem and in general be ready to unlearn, learn and relearn.
Aptly said.
Many people are introduced to the forum as a means of earning an income, and start chasing ways to rank up inorder to unlock the opportunities required, leading to spam and merit buying.
1471  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto investment with Stock under same roof, why not? on: October 31, 2022, 06:42:07 AM
Do you think it's stupid as a crypto investor to want to invest money on stocks too?
It's definitely smarter than buying loads of altcoin within a highly correlated market in a bid to diversify your investments.

Know the right stock to pick and the best ways to invest are key in making an entry into that market.
1472  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen to crypto exchanges in the future? on: October 31, 2022, 06:37:31 AM
However, when digital money is globally accepted, would there still be a need for cryptocurrency exchanges?
Digital money is not a competition to Bitcoin which serves as an alternative asset and an investment.
Digital money is already wide spread around the globe at this time with lots of people using it, and those who don't, do not use Bitcoin either, so it's safe to say both have the same consumer base at this time.

I do not see the connection between spread of digital money and need for crypto exchanges. Bitcoin would thrive regardless and would need a platform for exchange.
1473  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need Some Good Adivces on: October 31, 2022, 06:30:14 AM
You can just get advice on a topic, you will need to do research, gain knowledge on it, and then ask questions when you get confused.

The forum has lots of posts about different topics and you can use the search option at the top icons to research on them and possibly join previous conversations.
1474  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are your thoughts when all Bitcoins are mined? on: October 31, 2022, 05:37:44 AM
As much as this could be accurate, I expect something more of a stabilisation in price of bitcoin and ahoukdnit come to that with miners depending on reward from what they get off transaction fees, how is that going to be enough to keep them at there job and maintaining the nines.
It's not a matter of should it come to that, but when it comes to that.
About how it keeps them at their jobs, I talked about only few transactions occuring on chain, most of which expected to be large transactions, while the bulk of transactions occur off chain at little or no fees.
This of course is just a hypothesis, and there are many more of such out there.

Like, we are going to have a lot of bitcoin users upto 70-80% of world population hypothetically. Now transactions are given preferences based on fees and then, it is hoped that these fees be minute enough to allow swift transactions in a time of stabilised price. How then do miners gets to benefit from fees without taking advantage of processing swift transactions based on higher fees?
Miners already process transactions based on priority or higher fees; the higher the feerate paid, the closer the transaction is to the tip of the mempool.
What exactly do you mean by swift transactions?
1475  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are your thoughts when all Bitcoins are mined? on: October 30, 2022, 09:50:08 PM
so, what are your thoughts when all Bitcoins are mined?
Years before this point, it should already be evident how much Bitcoin would function without mining rewards. Infact, within the next decade, over 99% of the total Bitcoin supply would have been mined already, leaving the final 1% to be spread out over a ~century. What this means is that the network would shape up how exactly it would function without any more coinbase rewards.

On chain; it would function as designed, miners would earn only from transaction fees as a form of incentive.
This could lead to a bulk of transactions occuring off chain, but that remains to be seen.
1476  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Stupid or Not on: October 30, 2022, 06:28:57 PM
The only reasonable reason I could see for doing this that hasn't been mentioned above is to keep up to date with knowing how to transfer his coins and it might prevent either him being scammed or doing something stupid when he comes to sell them (it might also mean he does something stupid and loses all his funds before then).
This doesn't seem reason enough to go through the stress of creating new wallets every month and safe keeping multiple seedphrases.

If it becomes necessary to keep up with changes in how transfer protocol changes, having a little fund kept away in a wallet which can be used to play around with and keep up to date.
The idea doesn't seems unnecessary in my opinion and exposed they user to a lot of risks.
1477  Economy / Economics / Re: Elon Musk Becomes Owner Of Twitter, Immediately Fires CEO And CFO on: October 29, 2022, 07:12:21 PM
When people think of silicon valley and cutting edge billion dollar technology somehow I doubt a year of development to produce an edit button is what they expect.
Much worse when the edit button is not necessarily needed on the app and the fact that there's none is a huge 1 up the platform has over the competition.

Do you think the Tesla CEO made the right move by firing these top people in the company? There is no denying that Twitter has a lot of shot comings just like every other big platform out and needs some serious overhauling. There are so many complaints about bots and scams and those are the major area Elon intends to tackle. Hopefully, with this new ownership, we are going to see Twitter in a different state.
I am yet to see the end result of the debacle regarding the percentage of bots on Twitter, if the amount was indeed around the touted percentage, then it's a huge deal and a serious overhaul would be necessary to get it back on track.

Suppression of certain voices is also a huge problem on twitter, especially when it seems to be a biased censorship.
1478  Economy / Economics / Re: friend I want to invest short term in bitcoin and crypto. to meet their living a on: October 29, 2022, 04:37:47 AM
In the short term Bitcoin may be more likely to drop in value than to rise, and your friend might have to cut their losses if they invested money they can afford to spare.

is it possible to invest in bitcoin and crypto for the short term,? which is to meet daily needs,
Bitcoin doesn't meet daily needs, that's what a job does.
Bitcoin is a currency which doubles as an investment for many.
I would not advice your friend to try earning passive income through any of the DeFi or staking methods as they are very high risk.
1479  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: help post to recover my assets from hacked wallet! on: October 29, 2022, 04:08:15 AM
i have some small assets in one wallet which has been infected by bot! each transaction i am sending for the gas fee (matic) is getting sent out to a wallet automatically!
What wallet do you use?
Also, do you have an idea how it got compromised?
If it's a case of granting permission to the wrong (d)app or script then you can manually find a way to disable it.

Give full details and avoid getting scammed again into paying for a bot to help you fix your existing bot issue.
1480  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bery simple crypto questions from a new player on: October 29, 2022, 04:04:26 AM
And is it the same if I invest €100 in BTC and it goes from €10,000 per coin to €114,000. It's also 114% and then I have €11,400 instead of €100??
You made an error in your calculations, I'll use the BTC assumption to correct it, but it applies both ways;

• €10,000 to €114,000 is a growth of €104,000,
• This is a percentage increase of 1,040% and not 114%,
• This implies that the asset multiplied over 10 times from it's initial price,
• With an investment of €100, you would have €1,140 with that percentage growth. I have no idea how you ended up with over €10k.

both are 114% raise but huge diffenrece in actuall coin value and market capacity. does it matter? or is it only the percentage of raise and fall.
It doesn't matter technically in the hypothetical situation, but in reality the risk of investing in a low value coin exists and you could easily be left of with 0 after a few months or years.
