81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / DAG file on 3 GB card Limit hit it seems . on: March 02, 2018, 11:06:57 AM
It seems the Dag file hit 3 GB, i keep getting out of memory on my 1060 3 GB mining ETH/ETC.

I guess this Month is it instead of next month ....Sad

https://investoon.com/tools/dag_size

At this rate that could mean 4 GB cards won't be usable for ETH/ETC mining in May/June instead of SEP 2018 .

83  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why are people so negative about mining? Stop it... on: February 27, 2018, 02:31:40 AM
Cause people are stupid, paying $1000 for a rx 580 is beyond stupid, they will never get their money back and resellers will keep the price high cause there are idiots paying what they want.

I paid $1000 for my water cooled 1080ti with a 4 year warranty... im glad i dont have to worry until the year 2022.....

bitcoin needs to go over $17,000 to indicate a bull market so HODL

Oh Cool.  Which charts and which ta indicators are you using on those charts to come to that conclusion?

No conclusion btc just will over time right now there holding stable at about 10 k  once they start back up they may stop at 21k then back down an hold at 17 k for a while ,I don't want BTC going up to fast and getting to much attention from the GOV but that's how i see it ...beside 10k isn't to bad.  as far as being negative about mining, i tend to agree with most it trolls and those who don't like sharing it's the greedy ones.

and any miner now will still be usable for at least a year plus... including ASIC miners ..... it all depends what you want out of mining ...  I have a batch three L3 + miner coming next month and may buy a few of the V9 and i said i wouldn't buy bit main again up til now i held out ... it's just to much fun and one big addiction ...

Bminer
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2519271.0

it has a 2 % fee which you can turn off with -nofee the fact i can turn it off makes me want to use it, i don't feel like im being fucked .

and it is faster then DSTM with the fee on or seemed to be, with the fee off from what i could test i only lost 10 sol on a four card GTX rig ..but i leave it on like Ive always said . an only turned it off to see how bad it was off. .it's better to me then if i turn off the -nofee 0 with claymores zec miner for amd cards.

i've used bminer and its really about the same as dtsm. the no fee option on bminer is very questionable. the dev says turning it off is a 4% decrease in hashrate so you lose more than paying him.

bminer has a few other things you should be aware of:

1. it has a private connection that goes to his server. people have been asking for months about what it actually does, and the dev just responds with "bminer will request runtime and licensing information from time to time." very shady since he would have access to your mining hardware and could change mining addresses etc. which i'm guessing is the point, he wants to secure that no one takes his share but who's to say hes "only" taking his fee.

2. it over reports hashrate by a good 3% easily. from all the comparisons i've seen posted/performed (not perfect tests mind you) and from my own mining rigs, i see a very minimal if any increase on poolside vs dtsm.

i'm personally hoping someone shares a no fee option for dtsm's and lets us pay him a one time fee for it.

I'm ware of  number one Smiley ... I'm watching the thread and my hash ..

so far  the pools match for me with hash doesn't mean it won't later . i just started using bminer.

Im trying to get SEG Mining to return my A4 miner to me.
They require that I send a pre-paid shipping label. However, to do that, I need to know the weight and box size.
Anyone know those details so I can get a label created?

I still have the box my a4 came in not the plus

Packaging Dimensions 397x197x197mm

net/gross weight on the box is 4.25/4.6 Kg

Hey using Bminer or dstm miner on a ssl port with AM never works for me , below is showing what Bminer does on a ssl port using it with AM if i use it with out AM it works fine with both Bminer and dstm miner on a ssl port/pool an that's on any ssl port/pool, i have tried..other wise on a normal port/pool Bminer or dstm miner works great with AM .Smiley

using CLaymore on a ssl port no issues...
Is the pool URL defined in Awesome Miner with "stratum+ssl://" in the beginning? Is Awesome Miner passing "stratum+ssl://" as part of the Pool URL if you run the Diagnostics and look at the command line generated by Awesome Miner?

I got it i didn't add "stratum+ssl://" i just added "ssl://" like you can with claymore miners after I looked at the Bminer read me, sorry for the user error report .. as for the dstm miner, I don't really care, i don't use it any more or stopped using it a while back, i have moral issue with the Dev...

Thanks for the Answer  back ...
89  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: if you are supposed to pay tax on mining profit how about expenses? on: February 24, 2018, 01:12:32 AM
irs is eager to collect tax on mining profit which is understandable and fair as stock traders to pay a hefty sum. But how about loss and business expenses?
You buy a very expense gpu at 800$ and then you havent managed to cover your purchase cost at the end of year then you got taxed, can you use it as an business expense?

I am thinking to go sole proprietar on this one.

yes you can but i would talk to some one who know wtf there doing an not here you will get good advice here but to be safe talk to someone who does it for a living that knows all the ends and outs of the IRS with mining there out there and usually cost about the same as any law or tax person .
how about electricity cost? it is also cost of doing business as far as mining concerned right? And in the US it aint no cheap!

I would talk to a tax firm/person some give advice free, to be safe .

how about electricity cost?
Yes you can

but it has a to be as a business cost,
Mining is a business by IRS rules in the US until they change it, which I wouldn't count on right now or until next year maybe when hopefully the ass hole in the WH won't have full control and will be forced to do shit or else

if you claim mining as a hobby you can't claim anything else an then it's claimed as a lose < ( short version) there is more to it,I made it simple, so be careful .that's how it was explained to me by a expert.

an that new tax law is one big scam unless your rich, an those who back it up are either rich an it benefits them or have no clue.

so well see in Nov.

also the cost of doing business as far as mining is concerned aint cheap in the US no it can be very cheap if you own the house or building it's set up in then it's all most no cost, if you mean that, and there are no laws any miner has to follow yet at least in my state there is none. they are talking about it but only the Republican's are, that's so they can steal more ...

if you have Solar which I do the cost won't be so bad for electricity or i am about to find out by April, mine goes live then .

91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Powered Risers and SATA on: February 23, 2018, 11:41:09 PM
to me  the best way is plug it all into the psu with pcie cables including the Risers, i use nothing but Risers cards with PCIE plugs after some bad time with other plug types ....been doing that for a year with my own made up server PSU cables and break out boards i won't use ATX psu by i won't use ATX psu i mean the normal atx psu. .i use server psu's and Pico ATX Switch PSU's to power the mb an ssd plugged into the server psu with pcie cables on two 240 lines and we will finally have solar on my house by April so im gonna abuse the hell out of it. an put old miners i have laying around online for the fun of it.
92  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Slushpool Review - 2% fee, Pool Hopping, and the Best Dashboard on: February 23, 2018, 11:17:18 PM
Don't forget

Slushpool was the First BTC pool to ever be.

They came out with the first hardware wallet called Trezor..

I started there mining BTC with GPU's when you could .

when the pool hits blocks for either zec or btc it pays well .... or you catch one of there block rolls. it can go for days only hitting one or two blocks or no blocks then out no were a roll starts of 5 to 10 blocks a day that can last a week ...

The Dev team is super nice or all ways has been to me if i needed help or asked something .

I don't feel like there being greedy either so the 2 % fee doesn't brother me..it when your a ass hole for no reason that I want to be a jerk back and will complain about anything that person might do.. there is no reason to be a jerk.
93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ DSTM ] Found a fee remover for dstm zm miner on: February 23, 2018, 10:59:08 PM
Windows fee remover exist too. Works all current versions up to 0.6.
Also they not public it.  Angry

i know people can and do remove dev fee from all miners, and its probably not hard for those in this field. be cool if people would link to the post where someone has said they have. i'm the sure majority of people reading threads like these are more than happy to pay a one time fee to have it removed.

I would have no Problem paying a one time fee the Greed from the DEV of the miners won't let them, because they think they will lose more then they gain which is BS some others on the forums have proven Different ...so i don't blame any one for using a fee remover.to me it's not stealing because the Dev doesn't care one way or the other at first they might till they see how far they can push it plus we never get what we pay for they all  ways hold back and charge a Premium ...an it is Greed and now the fan boys will come here an take up for them.

why did they move this here ? ....
can anyone explain other then they don't like alt coins .....

to me they should rewrite the forums there a mess right now and putting all the alt junk in one big thread is going to become a bitch worse this it is now ...

Alt coin mining is not going a way any time soon... and it deserves as much respect as BTC get ... and I don't care if you don't like Alt coin mining, there are a few that detest ant coins, mining all coins is good ...

97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [2018-02-12]Bitmain To Release Ethereum ASIC Miner F3 With 72Gb DDR3 Dram In Q2 on: February 18, 2018, 10:49:44 PM
why do they call it a ASIC miner when it's using DDR3 memory .... the way it reads after i looked at the press release .....when it is clearly not a ASIC miner unless I'm missing something .

"I think ASICs are inevitable when the coin is valuable. But that’s not a bad thing."

why are ASIC miners not a bad thing when we saw how bitmain destroyed mining any thing with GPU aka ltc and btc ......an sia .... which you can't mine with gpu's any more ...because of there greed . an it is greed ...

On the other hand if they would keep there prices down and make ASIC miners for homes like they used to, i would agree but they don't any more .....

I've been looking all over, but haven't been so fortunate. On one of my rigs with only 1 AMD card will only show "Interface Offline"..

I've tried restarting Awesome Miner, rebooting the PC, changing pools, and algorithms but it doesn't change anything. Any tips?

Thank you in advance.

does it hash ? and just doesn't show in AM ? if so what are your api settings.

100  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Market Collapse / Mining Profitability on: February 10, 2018, 03:49:56 PM
There is really no  Market Collapse / Mining Profitability  issue it seems normal to me ups and downs are what mining is all about . right now it seems stable even though BTC price might seem down form the 20k it was at but that's a good thing, it's holding at or around 6 to 8 k stable . that matters more . while the stock market isn't doing so good, i knew/saw that coming .

I normally mine to hold so to me there is no real effect i see .

in fact i just bought a L3 + because the A4 + cost to much for a 100 mh more, i said i would never buy bitmain again an wouldn't have if innosilicon didn't over price there miners so much . I like mining ...

an will keep using my gpu's, A4 not the plus but might sell it for another L3 + or put to a A4 +. ..  an buy new stuff as needed and sell off the old stuff as needed . an the A6 is not worth the cost when all it is , is two  A4 +'s in one you might be better off looking for single A4 +'s if your a little guy doing it for Fun or work .

May buy one or two V9's from bitmain there at the old s3/S5 price .

Electricity cost no big deal for me and may get even better were looking into solar again so i will be abusing the hell out of it during the day an tone it down at nite some ... if were able to get it this time .
