881  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v8.0 on: November 25, 2016, 12:42:25 PM
the  HD 7870 is based from the AMD Pitcairn family of chips. The AMD 7870, AMD8870 and AMD 270x are the same chip but with different DirectX requirments..  The AMD HD 7750 is from the Cape Verde chips which is only 512 shaders in therory should be at 40s/h using V8 on zcash  if you have the 2gb verison

My 7770s (1 GB) are doing 53 sol/s right now.

The R7 370 is pretty much the same thing as the 7870 or a refit of the 270 . i had a 7870 i throw a way just before Zcash came out had i known then when i know now that 7870 would be back in service and not at the  dump wasting a way or were ever it went in the thrash .

yea the best way is modded the bios to use less power and produce more speed that what's so nice about  these cards now that use 14 NM chips . and they are just getting started ..

you can use afterburner or the WattTool but nothing works better so far then letting the card do it self but modding the bios and doing little tweaks with those tools .

Sorry if I ask a lot, but do you have a proper guide for RX 470 to undervolt (BIOS way)? I'd greatly appreciate that. Thanks!

I have 5 x 480 undervolted rig with 1000W PSU, and with zec it takes 520W from the wall. So I thing 600 - 750W is enough for 4 x 470.

That is right. If you undervolt, 600W is more than enough.

So I guess in case of undervolting, the Sol/s is decreasing, right?

no not really i thought the same thing it will lower heat and use less power but less sol maybe not if done right.undervolting doesn't all ways mean it will lower the speeds . it can and does make the card more effective in how they use power and produce heat .

any of there should do it but id go with the 1000 watt one who knows you may want to add two more 470 or even two more 480 later on.  even buy a 490 next year when they come out.

I would look more into the future then the here and now. I all ready plan to upgrade to 2 1500 watt PLATINUM  server PSU's http://www.ebay.com/itm/684532-B21-684529-001-HP-1500W-CS-Platinum-Plus-Hot-Plug-Power-Supply-/252627974019?hash=item3ad1ccf783:g:hmkAAOSwpLNYAQtI  some time next year. the Psu cost 80 bucks each but i need other stuff unlike atx Psu's which i have now and they run on a 220 line so i will save a little moire power cost wise.

any good 750, 850 watt gold standard PSU can power 4 470 for eth or Zrec mining , i wouldn't worry to much about what the rest of the rig/pc uses power wise if the software miner is written right it should only use the GPU, the cpu should set at 10 % usage or lower most of the time but do ad in an other 20 % for the rest of the pc which should be covered by a 750 to 850 watt gold standard Psu easy.

my rig that has three RX 470 and one RX 480 runs around 562 watts at the wall total before i modded the bios on the 480, i haven't looked yet to see what it does with the 480 modded, i was using a 850 watt gold standard PSU by Corsair but me being me i put that rig on a 1300 Evga gold standard PSU.( over kill  ) , i have that was laying around . for no other reason then it was there to use .

I use one of these but not  sure if you can get it in Canada but it works great on top of my Script miner with a open case with two stock fans it is a lot quieter to run .

there is a cheaper version when i bought i was gonna use it in a window.

889  Bitcoin / Pools / antpool Amzon gift cards you have till 30th of Nov to claim it. on: November 24, 2016, 11:46:08 PM
Look at ant pools front page to see if you get one . so far it looks like it's real .. it supersized the hell out of me when i saw it .

if you mined 2 btc or more on antpool you can get a Amazon gift card it doesn't say how much but you have to go there click the link that says go on the front page then login your account fill out the forum if you  mined 2 BTC  or more it gives you the form to fill out.-before anyone say anything  bad, i agree with anything you say and it does make those who haven't mine there yet mine there but if you have all ready in the past take it i  say and tell them well you know i won't go to far i may not get one if i do.

I'm guessing he means AMD user get the love first then NV ? .

Thanks  zawawa

zawawa you happen to have a Antpool  zcash account i can mine to it seems to build the balance faster PPS mining if not I'll use the flypool address. i used to mine BTC on antpool https://www.antpool.com/ and eligius which was my favorite pool to btc mine on I made the most BTC there till the S7 destroyed it all for me and slushes pool https://slushpool.com/accounts/login/?next=/dashboard/.

891  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: H81 PRO BTC - unstable with more then 4 GPU - Win 10 on: November 24, 2016, 09:20:54 PM
Hey guys,

I'm just throwing this here wondering if someone has a special tricks to help get my H81 to handle more then 4 cards. This isn't a detection problem, all 6 cards will be detected and if i'm lucky they will all hash but most of the time, GPU hang or i'm even able to start all 6 at the same time. I have this kind of behavior with 4 cards but it is rare. (I have like 4 days of uptime at the moment, no issues)

My setup is => 6 1x to 16x powered riser (via PCI-E). All 6 card are rx 470.

I tried to reset the CMOS, use different version of the Crimson drivers, reformatting win 10 etc but no luck. Set the PCI to Gen 1 or Gen 2 or Auto. Well i tried pretty much everything. I though it was a card problem but it is not. I have 2 H81 pro BTC and they do the same thing. They were used so i'm starting to think they are faulty for some reason.

Well, i'm just asking.

I will be running 4 cards only for now. (Which piss me off)

Thanks ! Cheesy

on new egg under question ans answers they say using over three cards, to use USB powered raiser cards the MB can't handle it on it's own . i would use them any way the riser kits don't cost much and come with everything you need and  are safer then using a MBs direct power.

FROM new egg

There is a BIOS setting to turn off the "plug in the 4-pin connectors" boot-up splash screen. If you are connecting more than 3 gpus, I would recommend that you use separately powered risers. Just the two 4-pin connections are not enough to support the total power draw of that many cards. If you are already using powered risers for all the gpus, you do not need to connect anything to the 4-pin cnnectors - just disable the warning screen.

Set the GEN to auto plug each one in one a at time, i wouldn't use after burner with that many cards if you are, if heat, is gonna be worry find  some thing like fan speed that only controls the fans . run each card by it self  for 15 mins each then if it keeps crashing or under hashing  after  all six are plugged reinstall the drivers with all six plugged in  . and anything else that was monitoring the cards uninstall  and run with the drivers only for a while . ? .  or do a clean install on the PC/rig doing a clean install does wonders .

other wise if you have done all that then send them back if you can ? . I did read some reviews of some having issue with that board some place it wasn't on new egg .

last thought is IOMMU on or off in the MB bios if it's off try with it on and on turn it off .

Set the VM without or with IOMMU on or off . to at least 16 gb like Claymore read me says to do with Multi cards.

For multi-GPU systems, set Virtual Memory size in Windows at least 16 GB:
"Computer Properties / Advanced System Settings / Performance / Advanced / Virtual Memory".

That's any way not just Using CM .

it even says lol

6 PCI Express slots mining motherboard

no idea how good Biostar is only had one my whole life and it was junk but that was many years ago, when MB were starting out and the top three company's were MSI ASUS and i forget the other one I think it was VIA when they sold there own brand or i got VIA boards as OEM. I had net 30 day account one time with a 20 k limit on it with one of the whole sellers, anyone could get, you can't now, I guess they lost to much doing it that way all you needed was a tax ID number to open one it was super easy to do .

it's the same price as the Asrock board i know Asrock are good boards i have owned a few with no issue unless your worried about the 10 dollar rebate .
893  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Motherboards for most GPU that will work. Advice please! on: November 24, 2016, 07:37:10 PM
that's were i got the link off the US site or i searched for it there .i was on the US site when i got the out stock link on my US new egg account login, cool you found it, thanks i may buy one and have one on  hand in case . i kept hitting a out of stock link, i bookmarked that page for now .
894  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Motherboards for most GPU that will work. Advice please! on: November 24, 2016, 07:19:43 PM
same board as the H81  only for the 1155 socket CPU but there was a h61 BTC version like the H81 btc but for the 1155 socket CPU i messed a really good deal on ebay, if you want one that old you can get it for a 100 bucks or more off some of the sites like Ebay . it has 6 slots like the H81 BTC . If i come across another one for 50 bucks I'll buy it and hope it still works, i know it gonna BE used but most MB sold as used were upgraded in most cases not because it was out dated or bad  more because they wanted the latest and greatest etc .

Can someone tell me about this: https://msi.com/Motherboard/H110M-PRO-D.html#hero-overview ?
It will be ok for 3 gpu's ?

it should be i used the 1155 socket version of that board  or was till i got the new board i linked above . look at the price first then look at the board that supports 6 or more cards  from ASRock i think it called H81 btc something and may cost the same or was the other day on new egg  if your only going to use the rig for mining and have the CPU to match the ASRock H81 btc i would go that route if i could find a reasonable priced h61 btc 1155 socket version i just messed buying one on Ebay the other day for 50 bucks shipped, i think it was I will buy one and get even more use out of my old 1155 socket cpu but that's me, i had to go another way because of what i had already and found at a good price.

sigh now it's out of stock i should have bought it any way ,,,

if you get something like this http://www.miningrigs.net/?product=pci-e-port-multiplier and it actually works, would it matter what board or CPU you use other then Power usages ? . honest i would think it wouldn't matter then.

forget about these day..time for coding^^
We need to beat CM and NicHash.

i would say its too late now to start coding... battle is lost  Angry

Why Zec mining is really just starting out if hes having fun doing it , it's never a lose .!!!

I guess it maters what you consider a lose .
898  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Motherboards for most GPU that will work. Advice please! on: November 24, 2016, 05:19:32 PM
I'm using this one

Gigabyte AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gbps USB 3.0 ATX AM3+ Socket DDR3 1600 Motherboards (GA-970A-DS3P)

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CX4MUCC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

only because i couldn't see me spending another 200 or so for a CPU that would actually be worth using and another 100 or so on a new board to match it and i have a CPU that fits that board any way plus i don't see a need to over clock the CPU mining with GPu's . i have no plans to take any rig over five cards untill the limits that can happen from going over five are fixed or unless i get a really nice deal next year when the new Zen CPU comes out by AMD and  fixes it and it may.

I like AMD over Intel all ways have and had two Intel 1155 socket PC's.
899  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v8.0 on: November 24, 2016, 04:59:10 PM
please release a linux version. you could even take a higer devfee.

optimier is not as good as your miners

A Linux version is probably not on the near horizon as he has stated he does not like Linux.

one reason is you need Ubuntu 16 to run these cards at there best, the problem and that's on AMD some cards still don't have AMDPROGPU drivers support for Ubuntu 16 once they do we will probable see a Linux version of CM . and it's not worth it to run two different version of CM in Linux form one with Ubuntu 16 and one with Ubuntu 14 , I'm sure he would use 14 over 15 i wouldn't, i would use 15 it seems more stable then 14 but that's  me, all because of AMD driver support while the windows drivers support all cards  and windows version but a few that no long have a use or are actually sold as new and may be no win xp support.

I don't care much for Linux either ,windows is so much easier to use . but I do like to use Linux on PI type PC over the windows version for PI type PC.
900  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My new XMR+ ETH thread builds info and other stuff thoughts and photos included. on: November 24, 2016, 04:32:38 PM
I think i read in this thread some place how it is better to use a 220 line over a 110 line that's the truth i just tested that to find out on my 110 line if the meter is right It uses 4.8 amp or 562 watts at the wall with 4 amd cards and CM8 i plugged it into a 220 line it dropped off a AMP or so ,right now i have no real way of proving it other then what the PDU shows in amps used on the 220 line from what the 110 line meter shows. I'm using a Vga 1300 gold and looking at using SIdehacks break outboards with  1500 watt pat server psu's on a 220 line. there cheaper.

Using Server PSU's Might be better the way ?.

Yeah very nice to see that price creep up.  I finally eclipsed 1 ZEC with my modest 4-card rig and tempted to sell a bit of it now but in reality, I will probably just hold it. Not like selling half of it is going to make any real difference for me so might as well hold and see if it takes off.

I have most of what I need to build my 2nd rig when I get back in town next week, but only have 3 GPUs so hoping to find some good deals during the black friday/cyber monday craze.  Anyone know what kind of deals to expect on 470's?  I would highly prefer to stay with MSI 4GB but would consider other brands if the they are solid and a great deal. What would be considered maybe the 2 other top brands of this card along with MSI?  Sapphire I would assume is really good and I've heard bad things about PowerColor, but what about Asus & XFX?

you can get a power color red dragon RX 480 4gb with Samsung memory that might unlock to 8gb at your own risk, for the same price they are good cards, I'm running one now and modded the bios for Zcash mining .

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131706

I heard bad things about the MSI cards as well but not why i didn't buy one.

The power color cards are not cheap made cards like a few reviews were reporting so much for reviews and some others on the forums.

RX 480 any model do hash higher then 470 models that i have tried you have to tweak them which can take hours of trying to find that sweet spot and my founds are limited till next year paying off CC . then gonna pay cash for more cards and possible one or two A7 unless Side hack is able to get a good supply of btc miner chips .

Guys,

I just want to mention from my experience that I'm now mining for more then 4 days without any crash on my rig running 4 cards. I'm using Claymore parameter to control the all the clocks and MV instead of Wattman from AMD.

If that can help anyone ;-)

cool using CM 8 been going good for a week  on 4 amd cards . using speed fan to control the fan speeds and found this post https://forum.z.cash/t/anoraks-vbios-collection-optimized-settings-for-performance-power-saving/8347

to help mode a bios no one has a mode for yet I did or edited the bios by reading a lot  because the cards is a new release .
