1461  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Beware of CoinBase on: April 12, 2015, 04:14:58 PM
The problem should be solved if you withdraw your coins and store them yourself, if you dont want to deal with the regulations.
1462  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and closing tax havens on: April 12, 2015, 04:11:56 PM
It's not on their radar yet. It will be if Bitcoin gains mass adoption and we need to be prepared for that time.
My question on this matter is: How the hell are they even going to do it?
I realize they could find out if you own X BTC because you bought them from an exchange where they need your credentials, or from an BTC ATM machine where the machine asks for even fingertips.. but let's say you have a business as a freelance and accept BTC (with no public data linked to your BTC address where you get paid), let's say you have a successful mining operation going thats giving you profits, or even let's say you are making a couple bucks a month throught sig campaings and faucets and end up with a decent amount... how are they going to link to you all that BTC and try to tax it, if it never left the BTC ecosystem and the addresses aren't linked to your personal data?
1463  Economy / Speculation / Re: Double digits in 2015? on: April 10, 2015, 10:10:00 PM
It could go both ways after this month, according to some indicators, but this is all mental masturbation anyway, what matters is the price in 2025, and that is going to be a lot higher than it is now, anyone with basic knowledge about how to read the world will know this fact already.
1464  Economy / Economics / Re: Greece's own bitcoin-like money on: April 10, 2015, 10:07:14 PM
The People of Greece might want to take it a step further and exchange their bitcoins for XMR. This allows for instant, anonymous transactions.  The tech could be layered right on top of any "e-card" the Greek government issues.  Even without that layer, all they would have to do is get their own wallet and use that with other people who only use their own wallets, such that the .gov has no idea if they are Greek, Americans, or Martians.
1465  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: INVEST BITCOIN!!! on: April 10, 2015, 09:56:03 PM
I've been waiting for the Winklevoss brothers ETF for what seems an eternity now. What are they waiting for? Now it's a great time to announce such thing, with the current tasty low BTC price a lot of money will flow in.
1466  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin To Transform Argentina on: April 10, 2015, 04:24:27 PM
I've been there too. Parts of Argentina are breathtakingly beautiful and I wish you all felicity for your trip if anyone here goes.

If you plan on using dollar denominated credit cards you will also pay a fine or tax for using it. Argentina wants to see the world currency, the USD, knocked off its pedestal and be replaced with a basket of currencies which includes its own within their own trade agreements, but its unclear that they will succeed at this as we can se... China conducts trade using a basket of currencies which also includes gold and silver.
1467  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is Open Bazaar up and running ? on: April 10, 2015, 04:21:01 PM
OpenBazaar 0.4 is coming Wink

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/321sx0/brace_yourselves_openbazaar_04_is_coming/

Quote
Previous betas have had difficulty connecting to the network without port forwarding, and also had problems with stability. This 0.4 beta moved to a rUDP network, which won't require port forwarding for most users, and it also is way more stable.

It also has quite a few new features, such as an internal messaging system for nodes that are online, switching over to HD keys for signing, and the ability for notaries to charge fees and send refunds to buyer or release payments to seller (in case of dispute or non-responsive party).

Edit: To be clear, there is still a lot of work to get to a full release, but this is the largest step forward we've taken so far.

More up-to-date stuff here:  https://np.reddit.com/r/OpenBazaar/
Great news. Who will be the first to test it out? Not me tho, don't wanna risk my small-time BTC stack Sad
1468  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is just to complicated for the average person to use.. on: April 10, 2015, 04:05:13 PM
1980: No one will ever have a personal computer it is to complicated to use and serves no purpose.

1990: No one will ever use the internet it's to complicated to use and serves no purpose have you heard of a video recorder.

Expected a dumb comment that misses the point on where we are at today with Bitcoin.
Left satisfied.

PS: This video is how I feel when I try to explain Bitcoin to morons that do not get it:

1469  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How many wallets do I need? on: April 07, 2015, 10:04:20 PM
I use Bitcoin Core for the main stack and simply send the coins im going to need if I go out to the mycellium one on the phone or whatever. It's like getting money out of the bank (Core) and putting it into the wallet (smartphone).
1470  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi on: April 07, 2015, 10:02:20 PM
I've come to a conclusion that Satoshi is not a human, but some kind of internet spirit that was formed by everyone's thought and desires.

I reached the answer after seeing so many people believes that they are Satoshi. Roll Eyes

have you seen the movie Intestellar? it is in someway similar to what you just said Tongue
We are all satoshi spawning bitcoin throught the conscience network, the open source coded got uploaded on the internet out of nowhere.
1471  Economy / Speculation / Re: The next bubble could well surprise even the early traders... on: April 07, 2015, 06:14:34 PM
Once everyone who wants a slice of the Bitcoin pie buys at these price levels, hold onto your hats. Because once there's nothing left to sell, price goes up.
There will be something to sell, it has to, otherwise bitcoin wouldn't work... bitcoin is infinitely divisble, what will happen is smaller amounts will get sold by a lot more price.
1472  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Ukraine rejects Russia Gazprom gas price hike on: April 07, 2015, 06:12:28 PM
Gazprom is slowly offloading its assets in the European Union. An example is this:

http://www.themoscowtimes.com/business/article/russias-gazprom-to-sell-105-stake-in-german-gas-group-vng/518714.html

On the other hand, they are proceeding with their projects aimed at East Asia, at a rapid pace.

http://www.rigzone.com/news/oil_gas/a/137987/Russias_Gazprom_Says_No_Delays_In_Gas_Deliveries_To_China
Jesus, what the fuck is wrong with these?  Don't they understand how critical it is for Europe to continue to receive a reliable flow of energy from Russia if they're to maintain their fortitude with regard to the sanctions they've established against Russia?  You'd think this would be obvious and that they'd have a little more consideration for the pressures the EU and US elite are under right now - there's a lot Russia could do to help out the EU and the US, I don't know why they're being so obtuse and uncooperative.
1473  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Government Surveillance and Edward Snowden on: April 07, 2015, 05:53:10 PM
I like some of his stuff but I hate to break it to Mr. Snowden.. a government which did not have "the ability to interfere with [our] rights" would not be a governmnet would it?   Sort of like daydreaming about water that would never drown anybody since it would not be wet.
1474  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What should I do with my BTC? on: April 07, 2015, 05:49:42 PM
I wish there was some sort of passive income with Bitcoin, but I can't find any ideas that would work (buying a house with BTC and renting it is not an option.. im talking about more modest passive income).
1475  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin Really End World Poverty? on: April 07, 2015, 05:48:03 PM
From your example us military have a high budget because the us army helped the the other country to fight terorrist like in  the middle east and also isis. So the budget of the us for their army is not high because they need money to buy the needs of the us army.
Thats right bitcoin is the internet money and it can help by donating in the charity to help the poor.
Oh you're one of those government believers? Please tell me more how 9/11 was caused by terrorists and airplanes that don't show up on radar.  Roll Eyes
Anyhow I won't have this discussion with someone of such character. Besides it is also going off-topic.

No, bitcoin will not end world poverty and it never intended to do so. It's a quick, cheap and effective payment network, and a sort of financial asset. Nothing more. As you need money to get in, I think it will actually make the rich richer.
Everything makes the rich richer. Only proportional taxes/pricing could help out I guess. Bitcoin will make anyone richer if that's their goal. Bitcoin should be used as a currency though.

Well, you could say the same about fiat money... fiat will make anyone richer if that's their goal?
BTW, richer doesn't mean rich.. someone going from to 0 to 1 USD is already richer.
1476  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is DEA Agent Force Responsible For MtGox Collapse? on: April 02, 2015, 05:58:38 PM
The whole saga, in fact everything to do with Bitcoin, is so goddamn far out that nothing would surprise me.

Judging by the way Mr Karpeles has communicated on occasion, it seems there's a lot more he'd like to share but is somehow forced not to. I think plenty of minds will be blown before Gox is ever put to bed.
The whole thing would make for a fascinating movie. So much drama in the way things are developing that could make for a great story, going deeper than the rise and rise of Bitcoin. Even an action-drama type of movie would do, not necessary a documentary format.

Trailer Bit Boys
It would be great, directed by Tarantino and someone like like dj qualls playing Karpeles (after a lot of dieting tho).
1477  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is OpenBazaar dead or something? on: April 02, 2015, 05:28:40 PM
I think it's just not that fancy looking and working yet. I believe there are still some minor quirks that need to be fixed, but at least we could leave behind the times of intermediaries running away with the coins...
I cant wait to get rid of intermediaries and go full p2p, the problem is... how do you avoid the other person running with the coins/whatever you are trading the coins for?
1478  Economy / Economics / Re: Why do people keep saying BTC is dead?! on: April 02, 2015, 05:27:02 PM
Primarily inflation occurs when money is created and loaned into to circulation as debt, at interest under the fractunal reserve banking system.

Primarily deflation occurs when money is extinguished and credit resticted whithdrawing money from circulation under the fractunal reserve banking system.

The central bankers regulate the volume of the currency, m-1 m-2 m-3 of the money supply and the velocity of the currency, the sum price of the commodities divided by number of the moves of the currency of the same denomination equaling amount of money serving as circulating medium by expansion and contraction of credit
1479  Economy / Economics / Re: Greece now targets tax evaders! next step cyprus style! on: April 02, 2015, 05:21:51 PM
This is uncharted waters for Greece. They knew joining the Euro Union would fill the pockets of corrupt 'established ' officials in Government.. the pockets have been filled ...now these corrupt people can walk away knowing full well that Nationalism can cover their corrupt past... Job well done...
1480  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Factom, are you going to buy it? on: April 02, 2015, 05:14:54 PM
I've been reading alot lately about Factom, one of the first applications build on top of the Bitcoin blockchain: https://koinify.com/?factom#/project/FACTOM

I think I'll throw in a few Bitcoins, the concept looks really nice. However, I have bad expiriences with ICO's so far.... People are often very eager to dump when they don't make profit immediatly after the project is released.

The presale has raised 780 BTC+ so far, and it has just started. At least the hype is there.

Whats your opinion? Are you buying some Factom?
How many IPO's have been successful thus far? Just saying. I think Ethereum was the only legit Bitcoin IPO, and even if it was legit, it means nothing in terms of it being a success.

MaidSafe is going strong ...
Maidsafe has been crashing since it peaked at 13k. I called it out that it was a bubble and it would go to pre bubble prices, it was pretty obvious.
Dont get me wrong MaidSafe is amazing but people in general is too dumb to get their heads around it if we still didn't got them on BTC. I believe it will shine very long term but for now its not worth the risk since you could get in a lot cheaper.
