1621  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price Prediction 2015 ฿ on: March 05, 2015, 11:02:04 PM
I would be very careful before being overly optimistic. We are not out of the woods as of yet. We are now, most probably, experiencing trend reversal and thus, we shouldn't expect the fireworks in terms of price. Having a $150 gain from $200 area in less than 6 weeks is probably too optimistic, and wouldn't look good in the long term, either.

Let the price talk and let them think that way...
Maybe a reversal can be seen though as you said, we can expect it because that high gain could be seen more as a bubble than a profit.
That is my point exactly: we need to see steady growth. Nothing of a kind, bubble-like pump.  Because that is usually the last stage of the growth, usually followed by a solid dump. For now what we need is $15-20 jumps, and shallow corrections, like this last one.

Sometimes steady growth is not required to stablish new paradigms (as in new high floors). Look at all time graphs on some companies and you see after a couple bubbles, there is a bubble that eventually corrects itself but helps stablishing like a +50% floor (after correction) compared to the pre-rally phase. Sometimes not even a correction is needed and price sustains:

1622  Economy / Economics / Re: Hayek was wrong? on: March 05, 2015, 10:59:26 PM
In "The Denationalization of Money", Friedrich A. Hayek says that private monies should be allowed to exist and that the one with the most stable value would be most likely to win.

In defense of Bitcoin, many suggest that the frequent, large price inflations and deflations are preferred over a currency with stable value.

Was F.A.Hayek wrong?

Side note: he also says that indexation is not a substitute for price stable money.
I would much rather deal with BTC's volatility considering the pros/cons of the alternative (centralized national money).
1623  Economy / Economics / Re: The Banking system are highly illiquid right now on: March 05, 2015, 10:58:11 PM
This article talks about how people are trying to protect their assets :

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-02-19/meet-bureaucrat-who-had-courage-tell-truth-will-be-jobless-tomorrow

Big financial institutions in Europe can't sell more than a few millions euros worth of bonds to a bank, the market is highly illiquid. Gold and Bitcoin should thrive when the thin lawyer of confidence that the western populations have in their banking systems start to crack. It could be in a year or two years but it feels like it started so it could happen much sooner.

Over time, banks have failed or required government assistance because they had inadequate capital, a lack of liquidity, or a combination of the two.

The Federal Reserve since the financial crisis has worked to increase the levels of both liquidity and capital at banking organizations, but long term you cant sustain this scam forever.

Banks should fail when they have been mismanaged, the market needs to eliminate the losing companies for the greater good.
That would be if we lived in a free market, but it's not the case. Even if it was, when a bank fails families get fucked too for having their money there, its unfair.
1624  Economy / Economics / Re: EUR might drop below USD on: March 05, 2015, 10:57:10 PM
Euro just dropped further! 12 year low  Shocked

it's going to drop even further. nothing shows any sign of recovery any time soon.
i only hope it will not go below the us dollar. for me as european it's horrible.

Some say it may reach dollar parity in the next decade and potentially lower like 85cents. If you are Greek you better have a lot of Bitcoin already.

Or Russian rubles since Greece is now trying to make friends with Russia as its savior and companion in their disdain for the European Union and dislike of the U.S. world hegemony.
I think Greece may end up getting betrayed by Russia if they don't fully adopt dracma again, they may end up alone.
1625  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin For Flight Tickets? on: March 05, 2015, 10:56:17 PM
I like expedia, or destinia.

you can also buy codes for some airlines too in bitcoin
My mate bought some tickets with expedia using BTC for holidays with the GF and everything went well.
1626  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BurtW arrested on: March 05, 2015, 10:55:25 PM
I never knew BurtW personally and so my main takeaway from this thread is just the fear factor that bitcoiners are being chased down by US gov't and arrested and whatnot.  I'm a little scared of this.
It's probably one of these "let's do this to some unlucky guy so the rest are scared and stop using bitcoin" sort of strategy. Nothing to worry about IMO.
1627  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help, Bitcoin Core 0.10.0 crashes on start-up, no error pop-up on: March 02, 2015, 07:31:30 PM
Performed a clean install and am currently re-syncing.
I also had to make a clean install after updating from the former version. There must be some sort of backwards incompatibility.
1628  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin ATM's on: March 02, 2015, 07:28:53 PM
is that bitcoin ATM need several minutes to withdraw money?
I saw in youtube video about withdrawing money from bitcoin ATM
i think it's annoying if we must stand in front of ATM to wait our money out
It probably was the tested.com video. It drew a lot of negative advertisement for bitcoin. They need to work on the ATM and make them faster and less privacy intrustive, even tho I don't see a way around it in terms of not having to provide ID and hand scan... but its just so annoying and really creepy.
1629  Economy / Speculation / Re: I AM HODLING on: March 02, 2015, 07:10:48 PM
I am HODLING until the price is either $0.000 or $1,000,000.00.
And even if the price goes to over 1Musd, im only gonna sell 1 bitcoin to support the suffering mainstream currency - HODL the rest.
Just hope these 1 MM usd aren't really devalued by then, otherwise don't ever sell.
1630  Economy / Economics / Re: Was Bitcoin actually just a Pump and Dump? on: March 02, 2015, 07:09:22 PM
...
you never know. ...

Nah, you never know.  We know, that's why we sodl.

Nope, you sodl and you aren't sure, thats why you keep shitposting here against Bitcoin as a full time job, because you actually think your shitposting will have an impact on the market to make the price go down, as you are scared you did a big mistake by sodling.
1631  Economy / Economics / Re: Zimbabweans, again, collapse ... on: March 02, 2015, 07:08:01 PM
well, italian lira is always like that ... before the euro.
500 000 Lira = 300 Euros (300 USD).

Wow, I didn't knew Italia had to resort to that.
It's still nothing to the trillion dollar zimbawe dollars tho lol.

I lived in Italy long before the Euro and it was pretty stable. I think they took a long old while getting up to those numbers.

Some are saying that when most people expect Greece to be the first country that leaves Euro, it may be a country like Italy that says fuck it, and goes back to their own currency.
1632  Economy / Economics / Re: Is the US national "debt" an illusion? on: March 02, 2015, 07:06:30 PM
Obviously everyone knows the debts of any country can't be paid.. but that doesnt matter to them.

Debts are not owed in a 1:1 relationship. It is a complicated web of debts and entities.

As a simplistic example: The US may owe money to a German bank. The German bank stands to make money off of that investment. Germany might owe money to a US bank. The US bank stands to make money off that investment. The two banks have no interest in having that debt canceled out because they are both making money off of it.
1633  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin v. Bitcoin on: March 02, 2015, 07:03:55 PM
I second this. Can anyone explain the hate?
Probably a lot of people lost money with Litecoin which is result you get a lot of hate towards it. Tons bought at 40 dollar a coin thinking we could go 400, then the crash happened. It's the same as gold guys that hate on silver.
1634  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: RIP the bitcoin group on: March 02, 2015, 07:02:36 PM
Did anyone else like watching the bitcoin group on youtube?
When you open a thread, can you at least explain what is it about?
1635  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are you spending your Bitcoin? on: February 22, 2015, 11:42:31 PM
Im considering doing my first bitcoin shopping: buying a steam gift card to buy a game.
1636  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Coinbase for noobs... on: February 22, 2015, 11:41:28 PM
Advice for noobs: Put your bitcoins in a local wallet as soon as you get them, do not leave them at any exchange no matter how safe they announce to be.
1637  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Bitcoin fails.. on: February 22, 2015, 11:40:28 PM
What have you learned from Bitcoin?

gov is fail, corrupt ... and, at the end, not guilty by the actual law.  Roll Eyes
the true is ... they don't help any people on earth.
they destroy the work of all intelligentes persons.

in the future, i don't be surprise to see a bitcoin governement system (vote and adopt law and decision with decentralised vote with blockchain).

it's very easy to do, now.
The powers that be are not going to give up their power to let people vote like that.
1638  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should Everything Be Decentralized? on: February 22, 2015, 10:54:41 PM
yes, absolutely EVERYTHING needs to be decentralized

Comments like these show you many are completely clueless about what decentralization is and how it works.  These people should be enrolled in that Princeton class instead of posting nonsense on discussion boards.
Most are delusional anarcho capitalists like Jeff Berwick.
1639  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin insurance ever be a reality? on: February 22, 2015, 10:50:44 PM
I still dont get how loans and insurances work. Who's going to stop you from not paying? unless you give them all your credentials before or something so they can trace you.
1640  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ISIS to create own coin. How can we convince to use Bitcoin? on: February 22, 2015, 10:49:00 PM
ISIS don't need to be convinced to use Bitcoin, they need to get nuked.
