1521  Economy / Economics / Re: Technological unemployment is (almost) here on: March 25, 2015, 06:02:04 PM
I wish I was born 100 years from now. I would be enjoying a welfare paycheck, I Don't even care if it's not a lot. I would be able to focus on leisure time, work on art and other things that I love that don't give me any money, while the machines work for us and the people that are really needed do their job and get paid a lot.
1522  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ok So I Just Sent £1000 of BTC to a Friend in Northern Namibia.. Now What? on: March 25, 2015, 05:35:08 PM
Interesting discussion.
So it is still a probelm for a unbanked African, without a passport and just a mobile phone.
Hmm, I thought, that was fixed somehow...

SO BITCOIN DOES NOT WORK FOR THE UNBANKED YET !!!

...and it looks like there is no reason for them to jump in, before a new created service is providing a solution...

If you are clever, this might be a big business!

Yes of course but if you will find someone that wants pay you with cash I think you can sell bitcoin to him. Bitcoin is not ready for the "mass" and it will be never ready if someone will not create an user-friendly system withou the help of the banks. The banks is the cancert at the moment.

Here a fantastic article about Uganda & bitcoin : http://www.forbes.com/sites/kashmirhill/2014/05/22/using-bitcoin-to-send-money-to-your-brother-in-uganda-would-be-awesome-if-it-actually-worked/   but it is only an example.

SMS technology is availible almost everywhere and there's already things at work to allow blockchain operations with SMS, the problem is having people that accept BTC directly, or converting BTC in the local currency.
1523  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: P2P and The dangers of to much freedom without control can be good and bad. on: March 25, 2015, 05:32:25 PM

This is bitcoin related cause it all started with bitcoin because it allowed for people to receive payments in a new form.

I feel like things are starting to get out of hand, but I want people to make there valid points on P2P and the inventions of AI.

There is website that is being built that can take most Dev jobs and soon programming will be so easy that anyone can do it.

P2P websites can hurt others like online businesses.

Please express what you all think
The thing is it can't be stopped so you have to deal with it. They've been trying to stop P2P exchange technology since the early 2000's with Napster, and look what they've accomplished: Nothing. In this sense communism won, at the digital level, because everything will be able to be shared for free in the future, completely anonymously to both.
1524  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the reason behind the surge of merchants accepting Bitcoin in 2014? on: March 25, 2015, 05:29:20 PM
-snip-

What do you think? Do you think this the only reason or are there other factors at play? And now that accepting Bitcoin is no longer viewed as "groundbreaking" as it used to be, do you think the trend of ever-increasing merchant adoption will continue into 2015 and the coming years or have we reached a plateau?

Of course not. We are far from reaching limit of retailers and companies accepting bitcoin. That is for sure. That list you presented was just an introductory example. I predict that if some really big fish will accept bitcoin i.e. Walmart or Amazon we would be seeing domino effect on a large scale.

I don't understand the notion of of "limit of retailers". Why does it have to be a limit of retailers anyway? every person in the world could accept Bitcoin in their business if they wanted to.
1525  Economy / Economics / Re: UK's Plans to Regulate Bitcoin on: March 24, 2015, 07:25:47 PM
Not sure how they would do it but I expect every time before you make a withdrawal, you will need to submit a long list of supporting documents that require yourself to declare some statements concerning where the coins are obtained. Also they could make it mandatory for companies dealing in bitcoin to register and comply to certain guidelines. I see good and bad to it.
Thats only if you do it throught a bank. They can't stop P2P (as in person to person) direct local exchange of BTC for cash. There's always a risk of it being a trap, but if you buy from a trusted seller form LocalBitcoins nothing wrong should happen. It sucks tho, it makes adquiring Bitcoin as if you are adquiring god damn coke or something.
1526  Economy / Economics / Re: US Dollar collapse in 2015? on: March 24, 2015, 07:23:39 PM
No one really knows when it will happen.. but it will eventually happen.
When this "collapse" or "crash" in the dollar happens in the US, the solution is how we respond. Martial law is an Obama response and would ruin us. The only option would be, is to move our global business operations back here. Open oil reserves and drill here. Stop the exportation of our food and goods and start producing for ourselves only. Consume what we produce as a self sustaining nation. Energy independence would save our country. If we sustain ourselves in every sector here in America, then we would value our own dollar here. Make our own goods and produce our own energy. We would eliminate the need for buying overseas and our dollar would be valued by us , not the world. SIMPLE
I agree. However I feel you may have missed one supposition here. What if they don't want to save the country? What if they want marshal law? A final stroke to usurp the rest of the power that lies with the States and the People.
1527  Economy / Economics / Re: destroying bitcoins on: March 24, 2015, 07:21:31 PM
In fact most of the coins in cold wallets are almost like destroyed, they are not in circulation for a long time

The key is to remove bitcoins from exchanges, when coins on exchanges are getting less and less every day,  the value will increase for sure, and an easy way is to purchase from exchanges and spend them

this is true only if there is interest in purchasing bitcoin, by normal people( the classic "average joe/josephine"/newbies), otherwise you can freeze as many bitcoin as you want, and the price won't rise too

interest is the real key
Yeah only real money flow can make a market rise, all other techniques are only smoke mirrors and short term pumps. Mass adoption or burst.
1528  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: i doned it i buried my private keys in concrete underground no one will know on: March 24, 2015, 07:09:51 PM
What happens if you move to a different house?

Seems like a lot of hassle to secure your btc...

It is sad but it looks like we may have been trolled buy a newbie why he would bother is beyond me, some people must have strange lives to have that much time on their hands. Can only imagine its someone in school but who does not really attend much if the spelling is anything to go buy.

BUT... If you did do that and bury your keys 12ft that was some effort how many did you put down their if you don't mind me asking?

Definitely trolled, it's someone pretending to be a hardcore antibank storage, probably trying to make fun of us.

WHY would he move when he has done all of this? I don't see why OP is trolling. If I had a decent amount of BTC I would take all measures possible to keep my wealth safe. Imagine how epic it would be getting the BTC back to the surface 10 years from now. I hope OP comes back and makes a video of it, it would go viral on YT and get even more money lol.
1529  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Former NYSE CEO Duncan Niederauer joins Bitcoin exchange on: March 24, 2015, 07:01:24 PM
http://www.tradersmagazine.com/news/ecns_and_exchanges/on-the-move-duncan-niederauer-joins-bitcoin-exchange-113616-1.html

As well, just a few months back, NYSE completed a minority investment in Coinbase.
It's already happening: The big guys are moving into the Bitcoin ecosystem and those that do it first will be the pioneers on the field, the rest will be too late, but for now they will keep enjoying their position as fiat movers.
1530  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you name your baby Satoshi for 150 bitcoins? on: March 24, 2015, 07:00:02 PM
No I wouldn't. That kid would have to live with that name and outside Japan it sounds odd. What about Mark for 100 BTC Wink. That name sounds good and it's a good omen, he can make even 850K bitcoins if he's crafty enough Smiley.
Thats why you go live in Tokyo and marry a beautiful japanese girl and have a kid with her named satoshi. Who wouldn't do this for 150 BTC?
1531  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First Russia, Now Ukraine on: March 24, 2015, 06:58:36 PM
They cant stop Bitcoin thats the beauty of it. What the hell are they gonna do, put cameras inside people's houses? As long as they can't do this, you can run Bitcoin.
1532  Economy / Speculation / Re: Fundamentals translated on: March 23, 2015, 06:49:56 PM
There are 21 million coins that will ever exists, a lot of them are lost forever the supply is even smaller, there are about 2 million BTC users right now as far as I know, some owning a lot of them. You do the math. The price of 1 BTC is a lot higher than what it is right now. See you in 10 years, will bump this thread.
1533  Economy / Economics / Re: How many bitcoins do governments and central banks own? on: March 23, 2015, 06:43:38 PM
Other than coins still waiting to be sold off, I'd be very surprised if it's anything other than zero. They've got their own money to play with.
The logical thing for them to do is to hold at least a % of those coins, but they are probably auditing 100% of the stolen stacks from exchanges because they probably don't even know what to do with them.
1534  Economy / Economics / Re: Is the US national "debt" an illusion? on: March 23, 2015, 06:40:10 PM
No country should have debt. It's as simple as that. Debt for a country is either stealing from the future or stealing from your debtors if the country currency goes under. Sure debt speeds up things for businesses, but who here trusts their country to always do the right thing.

no country can survive without debts nowadays.

Yeah, all businesses work on debt. Your only chances to make it outside the class you are born with is getting into debt to make your business a reality, and have luck that it is a succeed and you can pay it back + make profit.
1535  Other / Off-topic / Re: whale club is a joke on: March 23, 2015, 06:35:04 PM
I read up on them before joining and they were made up to seem like gentlemen but its juSt a group of fucking imbecile goofballs shorting on small mediocre levels fucking up the economy. Just a bunch of numb nuts talking about pornography video games and making light of conspiracy theories with their own stupid fucking conspiracy theories.  I was looking to be enlightened, illuminated, what I found was a bunch of dumb jerk offs. What idiot on here said this was a super private club?
Well, what do you think fiat whales do? They gather on private messaging chatrooms and have a laugh while they make a lot of money, it's not like they are rocket scientists or something.
1536  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Millionaire" is a fiat-based term on: March 23, 2015, 06:33:36 PM
Once BTC replaces all VISA, MASTERCARD, etc electronic payment methods and the market cap is on the trillions, 1 BTC will be considered as wealthy. There are only 21 million Bitcoins ever, lots have been lost forever, you do the math.
1537  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 3 stages for bitcoin on: March 23, 2015, 06:26:32 PM
Xapo guy said in the conference that Bitcoin would replace gold as the standard, but that it would not replace national fiat currencies. Pretty wild but it was well reasoned. We'll see.
1538  Economy / Speculation / Re: Current CRASH of 18/3-2015 on: March 20, 2015, 05:02:30 PM
Don't get too excited. I would wait for a few hours to confirm on the trend. Even if it is really a crash, then I wouldn't mind slightly. Just go ahead and let's see how low it can go. I've already got my funds put on standby. And thanks to those people who decided to sell and allow me the chance to buy it so cheap.
It's going to probably test 230 over the next weeks... the good news are coming in non stop for sure, but we still need the common pleb to get their heads around BTC for a solid amount of money coming in.
1539  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 bitcoins. Will I be a millionaire by 2020? on: March 20, 2015, 04:36:21 PM
I think you could be technically a millionaire - have a million dollars.
Don't think you would be able to retire on it though - maybe buy a nice house and be sure you won't die of starvation Smiley
I have the nice (it's ok  Wink )house.  And I can always eat roadkill.
Which tells me you're not doing/eating so well my friend. Please tell me that squirrels and such are not your normal diet. 100 yrs ago it would be ok but not now so yet if you watch 'life below zero'..
No need to roadkill. With a million dollars you can safely retire in a place like Thailand. By safely I mean economically tho, not sure if such's places are safe enough to live... specially as a foreigner.
1540  Economy / Speculation / Re: BitVC Ceases Litecoin Futures Offering to Focus on Bitcoin on: March 20, 2015, 04:33:52 PM
http://www.coindesk.com/bitvc-ceases-litecoin-futures-offering-to-focus-on-bitcoin/

Quote
Futures trading platform BitVC has announced it will no longer offer litecoin futures to its users, as it shifts its focus to bitcoin.

The platform, a subsidiary of Chinese exchange Huobi, said that the decision was taken "due to a lack of user demand", and the "growing consensus that the world will only have one cryptocurrency value".

It sucks for Litecoin holders, I have my doubts if LTC will be able to recover at this point.
Has anyone tried BitVC to generate compound interest with their BTC holdings tho?
