1881  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockhain week in New York on: May 16, 2018, 10:07:51 AM
there are many who are currently speculating a rise because of Consensus 2018 and expect the prices to go up even in a big pump. but I believe that if there were a rise coming then it would have started already because these things start before the events not after them.

but also there is a chance that something happens in this event that causes the reversal of the market an we see another big rise like we saw earlier this month with a $1000+ rise in less than an hour.
1882  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Like Facebook, will Twitter welcome blockchain?? on: May 16, 2018, 09:59:34 AM
a lot of companies around the whole world will join the blockchain bandwagon eventually. many of them will be doing that only to make some money through silly things such as ICOs since they are basically a simple, free and without tax method of raising a lot of funds without doing literary anything!
but a lot of others will do it to improve their business and use the hype of this new awesome technology in their own advantage.

the question is how many of them will be successful and really improve?
1883  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: My selling strategy : need criticisms on: May 15, 2018, 10:57:20 AM
...with 4 graphic cards, ...2 on BTC throught nicehash,

how does this even work?
your GPUs are not even producing enough hashrate to be relevant when it comes to mining bitcoin! are you even getting paid?
I am not a miner but I suggest checking other altcoins for mining with your GPU, you may make a lot more profit than this because you need an ASIC to mine bitcoin. try visiting coinwarz and other mining calculator sites to get more information on this.

I'm not the best at economics and it may be heavily flowed, that is why I need you. Note of interest: I believe in crypto so I'm long-term bullish.

it all comes down to this and the way you think about it. I personally have no faith in any altcoin which is why I only have my long term investment in bitcoin but if you don't agree with my view then your plan is good enough.

as I said I am not a miner but I have thought about it. if some day I start doing it, then what I will do is that I sell as much to just cover the costs and keep the profit in cold storage. so lets say I earn 1BTC per month and the cost is 0.9BTC, that means I sell 0.9BTC and keep 0.1BTC (just example numbers).
1884  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice.com | Creators of Dicing | 22 Billion Bets | 112+ BTC Jackpot! on: May 15, 2018, 10:31:16 AM
We'll be launching Litecoin on Primedice in 20 hours!
WoW aren't there other coins that need much attention than litecoins?
What about byteball? Seems like a much promising coin to me. Best of luck with including alts to the site.
Also, will this possibly affect litecoins price in any way?

it is usually the hype of the coin itself. Litecoin is more hyped up than other altcoins and because of that it has more users and has the potential of brining in more customer than another altcoin.
as much as I love ByteBall and their team, their project is not that popular. and that is unfortunate because it is an excellent project with a good team!

the good news is that there are a bunch of gambling bots in a totally decentralized way made for Byteball. check out their website for more information Wink
1885  Economy / Speculation / Re: Read this for your Question and Why's, Share your onw opinion after :) . on: May 15, 2018, 06:50:51 AM
everything you said is based on one assumption that a large percentage of the supply (75%?) is held by people who are also collaborating with each other to pump the price. first prove to us that this assumption is correct then we can move on to the next step discussing about whether it is possible or not.

it is like physics problems where you assume there is no friction to make a conclusion. but in reality there is friction and a lot of other opposing forces and your conclusion is wrong because you ignored all of them....
1886  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why didn't Warren Buffett invest in Bitcoin? on: May 15, 2018, 06:38:37 AM
To the surprise of nobody, Warren Buffett isn’t interested in Bitcoin at all.
Warren’s strategy is to have an adequate but consistent return over a long period of time.
The key is that he knows he will be rich someday, but he is not in a hurry.
In cryptocurrency world, it is not possible to make a position and forget it for x number of years. Hence, it does not fit Warren’s style.
So what is your opinion?

Is this really about Warren or someone else because the bold part is sure not referring to him. Warren is already rich and he does not need even need to do any more investment in life for him live through life. The return of his percentage holding in cocacola is enough if he wants above a moderate life. There is no perfect reason as to why Warren chose to or not invest in bitcoin only him  can give the explanation to that. Its really difficult for someone who has known a particular working way for him all his life to then change overnight.

LOL, yeah it has nothing to do with becoming rich. but it has everything to do with storing your money safely some place where nobody can touch.
even rich people (millionaires and billionaires) fear their future and they are concerned with where they "park their money". many of them have been keeping their eyes on bitcoin and have been seeing it as a viable option to store their money. and when you have millions to invest you don't want the price to go up and you certainly don't want anyone to know you are investing in it, that defeats the whole purpose of it if they knew.
1887  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sudden Price Drop! What's going on with the Market? on: May 15, 2018, 06:33:05 AM
i thought the price will passed through $10k this month but unfortunately the price was dropped again and regardless all of negative news i think the most influence cause bitcoin dropped since yesterday is mt.gox dumped bitcoin but i think the current range $8k is good to buy more bitcoin

Yes, you are right, still, there is a huge chance for people who want to buy the Bitcoin at this stage because there is huge chance Bitcoin can easily reach to $10k easily this time. Mt.Gox sold a lot of coins in the market and most of the people are panic about the market and Bitcoin price start decreasing in the market.

every 6 months or sometimes 1 year we have a new hot subject for FUD which will then scare newbies and the market experiences big crashes. the MtGox coins are the new hot topic for FUD this year! and it will remain hot for some more time. there is no truth to it and it had never have any real effects on the price because these coins are absorbed by the market without anybody even noticing but when the FUD is being spread and the panic starts everyone else starts selling which causes the crash.
1888  Economy / Speculation / Re: Japan will decide BTC Price Monday Asia time Zone on: May 15, 2018, 05:21:55 AM
wow, this guy was spot on---price dumped hard around 8am tokyo time, monday.

are you sure? I don't see it on the charts. what I see is that price dropped below $9000 about 14 hours before OP started this topic. also it reached the bottom ($8200) 7 hours before he started this topic! after that price pretty much stayed the same around $8400 with +- $300.
he did not predict shit! unless you think the 3% ($200-$300) is called "going down"!

by the way what you are calling "hard drop" on Monday was a 2% drop from $8600 to $8400!!!

1889  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin v2.0? on: May 15, 2018, 04:30:04 AM
you create version 2 of something that has stopped being improved. but bitcoin isn't just standing there without any change waiting for a new version to come by. bitcoin is constantly improving and becoming better. by the time you have in mind bitcoin will be very different from today as today it is very different from 2009.
you can always create new projects and if they are good they may even become big and stay alive in the long run but it won't affect bitcoin. bitcoin will remain the biggest one.
1890  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bill Gates to Bitcoin on: May 15, 2018, 04:23:53 AM
Isn't it the Winklevoss Brothers already replied and challenged Bill Gates already?

Quote
"Dear @BillGates there is an easy way to short bitcoin," Tyler Winklevoss said in a tweet. "You can short #XBT, the @CBOE Bitcoin (USD) Futures contract, and put your money where your mouth is!"

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/05/08/tyler-winklevoss-tells-bill-gates-how-to-short-bitcoin.html

But will Bill Gates accepts the challenge? I doubt it, as much as we love what he contributed to the society, but this time Bill looks like he really don't know anything about crypto though. So its hard to reason with someone as disoriented as Bill or even Warren Buffett for that matter.

I feel like this year the number of attacks against bitcoin has increased even more. Bill Gates weren't this negative about bitcoin before. he started it this year actually. before he was praising bitcoin even! so the real question is, what changed?
are they trying to overtake the market? create their own altcoin? or buy more bitcoin and make profit from the swings?
1891  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lightning Network needs companies to pay workers in Bitcoin on: May 14, 2018, 07:00:50 AM
If LN is so easy ,   go to an old folk home and video some Senior Citizens using it , odds are it will prove my point instead of yours.  Smiley

I went to an old folks home and tried getting them to use cell phones, lap tops, the internet, and a lot of other things and failed. so they all must be bad just like LN...

The hobbyist won't have the funds or resources to keep up for long.
Your current hubs are full of hobbyists that can't afford many payment channels.
Print out your little pic again, once LN is actually being used by merchants for ~6 months.  Wink
* Also get an accurate # for the fees, too tiny is just a BS line. *
FYI:
Even this early on , you can spot ~12 hubs that have the majority of routing thru them.

"hobbyist" is the name you are giving them. but people who are running LN are the same people who have been running bitcoin nodes for ages. and they do it not as a hobby but because they understand what a "decentralized network" means and what their role as a bitcoin node or a bitcoin LN node is in this network.
as for the fees if you want an accurate number go use LN and you will see.
1892  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's volatility is a non-issue on: May 14, 2018, 06:22:11 AM
I like Uberse's style. He stealthily included Ethereum in the article in a sentence that says both BTC and ETH are good stores of value lol.

Ethereum is not a good store of value because what it promises to deliver will not be delivered. Lets watch how long they can keep the ongoing scam last.

good catch. they usually do this! they make an article which is about bitcoin at heart but they slyly include another altcoin's name in it to say this article is also covering that altcoin.
the fact is ethereum is one of the worst things you can invest in, not because of its volatility but because it is inflationary. there is no stopping that. the cap which should have been there is not there and there will be an unlimited number of Ethers in existence eventually. the future of it looks something like future of Doge coin.
1893  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MILLENNIALS ARE BUYING CRYPTOCURRENCIES TO SAVE FOR RETIREMENT! on: May 14, 2018, 06:12:54 AM
the way people are seeing bitcoin is changing. it started 2 or 3 years ago but it was noticeable last year when one of the big countries (Japan) adopted bitcoin as a real currency like any other currency. that helped many make their minds about bitcoin. they see it as another potential real thing that they can buy or invest in. just like gold or stocks or... and that meant many will include bitcoin in their 401k and things like that for their retirement. this doesn't mean they are fully committed to bitcoin or even fully committed to cryptocurrencies in general. it just means people have found another viable investment option with a great returns because bitcoin has a lot of potential in the long term.
1894  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cheap electricity in Africa on: May 14, 2018, 06:00:21 AM
your electricity can be considered "cheap" but at the same time you are forgetting about another electricity consumption and that is for cooling. Africa generally has a hot temperature so depending on where you live you may have to invest in a lot better cooling equipment and also spend a lot of electricity for that. which means your total cost may be higher than others in other countries with the same electricity cost.

what mindrust said above me gave me a nice little idea though! you may be able to buy solar panels and generate some electricity that way since you have a lot of "sun"!
1895  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lightning Network needs companies to pay workers in Bitcoin on: May 14, 2018, 05:37:35 AM
Multiple Countries are now banning banks from accepting money from crypto exchanges, this blocks the hope that people in those countries will take payment in bitcoin.
LN is massively complicated , don't really expect the majority to run to it.
You will have a few LN hubs run by some rich fat cats as they have the resources to keep the techs on staff to run an LN hub safely.
But the hobbyist won't have the funds or resources to keep up for long.

If LN does catch on , people will just give their bitcoin core coins (ie deposit) to a 3rd party (ie bank) and let them manage it and avoid the technical headaches.

LN Design was always to complicated for the average person and it was designed so banks with larger tech resources would control it.
Sorry but Banking 2.0 is here and it will be called Lightning Network.   Tongue
They will fee you and confiscate your funds just like a regular Fiat Bank.

I don't know what you think you can achieve by constantly spreading  FUD about lightning network, possibly the same thoughts occur to you now as you had back when you were spreading similar FUD about Segregated Witness before it was activated.

in the end people are using SegWit and are using LN whether you like it or not and the nonsense you keep spreading will only make you look like a fool.
1896  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price To $36K in 2019 - Expert Research on: May 14, 2018, 05:02:29 AM
unfortunately there are so many of these "experts" with their speculations about bitcoin these days on both sides and both group are usually making guesses about things they do not understand. some say it will fall because it is in a bear market and it is a bubble and some others like this are saying it will rise to a big amount just because it was rising and the adoption is increasing.

in the end I do not think we will see the same huge rise this year but we will have a rise because the correction has been over for some time now and people have been accumulating bitcoin ever since.
1897  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin faces 'death cross' after falling below $9,000 Read more at: //economic on: May 14, 2018, 04:45:30 AM
if using moving average and generally speaking using of technical analysis on bitcoin worked then price wouldn't have been this volatile in first place. we can not be certain of the price or even whether this is a bear market or bull at this point but one thing that is always certain is that TA is a total waste of time when it comes to bitcoin speculation.
1898  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Basic Bitcoins Strategies during downtrend? on: May 14, 2018, 04:25:04 AM
If bitcoin market is on the downtrend, it means it is the best time to buy more coins. Not only for bitcoin, but other cryptocurrency as well.
What you must not do is selling your coins. It is no use if you sell your btc at down market. Later you will regret and buy back with higher price

I disagree on both accounts.
first of all when bitcoin drops everyone knows that altcoins will get dumped. but the thing is when altcoins are dumped it can cause a much bigger dump in them which means they won't survive long and they may continue going down even after everything else goes back to normal.
secondly when talking about selling your bitcoin during a drop you should always consider the time and reason of it. for example when it is a much needed correction and at the start of the drop, the best option is to sell. but when it is already at the bottom of the drop that is the time that you should not sell.
1899  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China plans closing Bitcoin mining. on: May 14, 2018, 04:18:10 AM
What can you say about China of closing their rigs/mining?
This could overshoot the price to the moon or plunge the price below the ground?

Those holding btc just brace yourself fasten  your seat bet for possible vortex of price.

Are you sure about that? i know China is one of the biggest crypto farmer.
If china really want to close their mining farm, i guess other farmers will get more bitcoins.

your answer is in the date of this topic!
it was started 5 months ago and OP was just another butthurt newbie who lost money and was trying to spread FUD about bitcoin. as you can see the miners are growing even more in China!
1900  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in Africa on: May 13, 2018, 01:56:15 PM
it is really hard to tell. these things usually go unnoticed specially in third world countries. it is not like people are going to announce to the world they are adopting bitcoin for instance. you can see an increase in trading volume coming from these countries like checking the Localbitcoins.com stats for Africa on a website like this: https://coin.dance/volume (this site has a lot of other stats too)
or you can check out google trends to see how much they are searching certain keywords like bitcoin, blockchain, etc.
in the end it will be an estimation of the reality.
based on what I said looks like bitcoin is growing everywhere, including Africa.
