2481  Economy / Speculation / Re: 4/20 rally on: April 19, 2013, 01:31:21 PM
I wouldn't think weed is a significant part of Silk Road.

Weed is really easy to get for any person that does drugs. And it's not as easy to mail either .

I don't know if there are any stats available but would imagine weed is one of the least popular drugs to buy on the market. At least for Americans.

Rarer, hard to come by drugs are probably more popular on Silk Road in rates disproportionate to their general use. Stuff like rarer psychedelically, DMT, high-quality MDMA and all that other groovy stuff.
2482  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Do GPU cards work fine for gaming after mining for 2 years? on: April 18, 2013, 11:45:58 PM
Generally, cards either run fine or don't run. When you degrade them or burnt them out, they generally stop working altogether, as opposed to just offering lower performance.
2483  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Complaints about Early Adopter Rewards and Premines..what if.. on: April 18, 2013, 08:33:05 PM
It's a free Internet.  Anybody can make a coin. If the coin is retarded, or set up like a scam, it will likely fail. If it serves some purpose, it will likely find a niche and succeed. We don't need to make any moral judgements or regulations or decisions about 'how things should be', IMHO. Just let it be as it is, and however it is doing is exactly how it should be doing.

As for the 'bastards with the GPU farms', it just about scale. Dude with 1 x 7950 bought at $300 has much the same profit margin potential as the dude with X x 7950 bought at $300. It's a bit ridiculous to claim you're a more legitimate miner dude just because you have a much smaller operation.
2484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC price. on: April 18, 2013, 08:13:16 PM
As I have been seeing over the last month LTC is pretty much just pegged to roughly 1/50th a BTC. I don't think there is too much independent price climbing of LTC against BTC. (Though some say it could happen)...
2485  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Toronto Bitcoin Exchange btcto.com will have LTC/PPC/NMC trading on: April 18, 2013, 08:09:27 PM
They are also offering rewards currently if you can hack their exchange.

edit: Oh hai T.B.E  . Thank you for opening your exchange. Great to see new exchanges opening up, and especially Canadian ones for myself..
2486  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: All time highest litecoin mining difficulty? on: April 18, 2013, 08:08:31 PM
I can't believe how fast the difficulty has been going up for LTC over the last month. Certainly a debbie-downer.  And don't see the rate going down, nor the price of LTC going up anytime soon. ( I hope TT is correct though..)

At this rate I'm gonna to have to start mining Devcoins in a couple of weeks Smiley !
2487  Economy / Speculation / Re: Lets say they try to make bitcoin illegal on: April 18, 2013, 07:42:42 PM
This would do wonders for price stability, so hey, it would not be bad thing.

I'm having fun and making slight profits playing the exchanges, but would not mind a bit if the only way to buy in/out BTC -=> USD was through sites like localbitcoin.
2488  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US City with Highest Bitcoin Presence/Adoption on: April 18, 2013, 06:25:43 PM
I heard Portland. Not sure if it's accurate but that's what the word is down by the docks.
2489  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin needs to evolve - we need p2p exchanges on: April 18, 2013, 06:18:32 PM
Everybody who reads this thread should be trying to do their part and use an alternative to mtgox.

Totally agree with the need for less monopoly by mt.gox, even with or without their history of troubles.

I'm still thinking a really good new exchange will likely open in the next 6 months as well... For the person with the right resources and know how, there is an incredible profit making venture just waiting to be setup.
2490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] CryptoSwitcher - Automatically mine the best coin. on: April 18, 2013, 03:31:13 PM
Sweet app, nice work... !

Btw, are there any Freicoin exchanges though? I haven't come across this coin much. ..
2491  Economy / Economics / Re: How come UK prices on Bitbargain and LocalBitcoins are so low? on: April 18, 2013, 02:54:00 PM
Just a matter of supply and demand, I'd say. The good ole days a few weeks ago, bitcoins were a hot commodity many more folks wanted to jump on to. This week not so much. And now that the word has spread another massive amount, there are more dudes out there willing to sell them locally. And one of those dudes is under-cutting everybody else by only charging chump-change rates to steal all your business, thinking he'll make up for the low mark-up in volume.

I wouldn't think it is much more than that, as described.
2492  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitfloor closes down, but with no interest in making things right on: April 18, 2013, 02:48:50 PM
Bitfloor didn't claim they got hacked.

They had their banking accounts frozen, apparently.
2493  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NVC giveaway !!! Trade it, use it, enjoy it. Only 2nd after BTC by price on: April 18, 2013, 06:29:20 AM

2495  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stop cloning scamcoins! on: April 17, 2013, 11:40:29 PM
Ya it's a free world I suppose.

Surprised Terracoin is still alive. It's been having pretty serious problems recently...

I'm warming up to Novacoin myself.

If you don't like a coin you don't have to get any, or mine it. Litecoin makes sense and the other new alts don't really have a big enough piece of the cryptocoin pie to really bother anyone IMHO. I'd say maybe 1 in 50 dudes in the street, tops , knows about Bitcoin.  It'd be like 1 in 100,000 for Litecoin maybe?  If you can find anyone on the street who has heard of Terracoin or PPC or what have you, I'll give you a wonderful prize.
2496  Economy / Speculation / Re: in early stages of bitcoin era, the war on exchanges has started doing victims on: April 17, 2013, 10:53:53 PM
I guess that may be a plus side: if banks shutter there doors to BTC then they'll likely be less speculators because it is too much of a hassle transferring funds in and out, and that it turn I'd expect would lead to more price stabilization .
2497  Economy / Speculation / Re: in early stages of bitcoin era, the war on exchanges has started doing victims on: April 17, 2013, 10:18:58 PM
Really? Geez.... I didn't know about these things happening...

Sucks most about RBC. Was going to open an account there because of that ability to transfer money to CaVirtEx.
2498  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin anarchy in need of some rules | NY Post on: April 17, 2013, 10:03:03 PM
If you judge our current global economic situation according to history and logic, and not the P-R campaigns, then regulation leads to a very small number of corrupt wealthy elites manipulating financial markets for incredible amount of personal profit.

I'll take no regulation please.
2499  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: April 15 BFL ASIC update on: April 17, 2013, 09:34:57 PM
These press updates are bit like those coming out of North Korea.

Our Nuclear missiles will be launching against the US mainland soon (TM).

Our ASIC chips are in final stages of development and will be shipping soon (TM).

Heheh totally...

North Korea : We are now officially at war!

BFL: We are now officially shipping !

You can't really take either parties too seriously after awhile.

Ok, sounds reasonable to me.  I don't have any XFX cards myself so can't say for certain.
