2381  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: May 07, 2013, 04:36:42 PM
I don't think any hate-on's for Avalon are warranted. They are a bit late. No big deal. They are providing a rare and professional product anyways, that is on spec. There isn't any evidence they are partying it up with lovely Chinese prostitutes or running away to Spain or anything.

I think every Avalon pre-order person should cut them a bit of slack. At least refrain from getting too upset until they are at least * 1 / 10th * as late as BFL. After they are over one tenth as late as BFL then you can have a bit of license to complain.

I'm as anxious as you guys (I'm in batch 3) but can wait a bit longer...
2382  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL 6 May 2013 ASIC Update on: May 07, 2013, 06:33:08 AM
Right on! Only one or two more weeks then!   Cheesy

Wow I never heard or seen this happen before.

Was it a Sapphire 7950 Vapour-X card?
2384  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mincoin rises 50% today while feathercoin and chinacoin crash on: May 07, 2013, 04:41:34 AM
All these Cheerleaders for their coins is bashing the rarest Alt of them all. it's all nonsense why hey run and buy some.

MNC > BTC > LTC

How much did you get to post this? 10 MNC? Lol... better cash out your earnings fast...
2385  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon Asic chip Mini USB miner [Post if interested] on: May 06, 2013, 08:04:51 PM

Avalon chips use less power than AM chips. It should be no problem to put 2 Avalon chips on USB stick, check this thread:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=161715.0

USB is 2.5 Watt. The chip is 1700 mW so ... NO

Max. voltage 5.00±0.25 V (pre-3.0); 5.00+0.25-0.55 V (USB 3.0)
Max. current 500–900 mA (general); 5 A (charging devices)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Serial_Bus
ONLY for USB 3.0.

I have quite old computer so no USB 3.0 but if neccessary I'll add it in form of PCI card or something similar - just make 2x Avalon chips USB stick (560+ MHashes) and let
users do the setting up and other jobs.

Would it be possible to make USB stick that would detect USB version on host computer and switch one of the chips off if USB version is not 3.0?

A solution for you could perhaps be buying a USB 3 expansion card.  I'm not sure but I think most of them are PCIE though, so depending on your rigs, you may be losing slots to video cards.  There may by PCI usb 3 cards though, haven't checked...
2386  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Compeeting with ASICMINER seems impossible on: May 06, 2013, 08:00:17 PM
The more time that passes, the more ASICS will be available. It'll will balance out a bit, but ASICMINER is in position to be a leader for a long time coming.

ASICMINER is in fantastic shape  any way anyone look's at it. They are off to the races... I recommend to you that you buy some of their stocks. If you can't beat'em, join'em.

2387  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon Asic chip Mini USB miner [Post if interested] on: May 06, 2013, 07:57:14 PM
I think this is a pretty sweet idea. How feasible is it though? Is this more at the 'hey this a good idea stage' or the 'hey I think I can actually make this it wouldn't be that tough' stage? Smiley
I've done the schematic and I'm partially through the board layout now. Maybe tomorrow will have something concrete. But still pending on Avalon docs forthcoming.

Well high-five to you then sir. You have an excellent product on your hand if it all pans out. You should go full steam ahead with this.

Be fantastic to augment mining rigs with some usb asic's.

Hell open up a new company with stocks at BCT-TC to raise funds while your at it, because I'd like to buy in.
2388  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Who all has received Jalapenos? on: May 06, 2013, 07:54:35 PM
Maybe this thread should be merged with the "BFL fucks us over again" thread (page 72).
2389  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you find yourself dreaming about Bitcoin exchange prices? on: May 06, 2013, 07:11:23 PM
Dream about the exchange prices? Nope, not yet.

Almost borderline compulsively check the exchange rate while I'm awake? Yup, pretty much ! Smiley

I'm sure in 2014 I'll have a pair of google Glasses with a running market ticker going lol, at this rate.
2390  Other / Off-topic / Re: Proof that 2000 BTC (not 1000 BTC) is owed by Josh AND BFL. on: May 06, 2013, 05:43:13 PM
It'll be interesting to see how anyone could wiggle out of this bet. The terms are very clearly established.

I don't have a unit to test the power usage of it but once this clearly established for the shipped product (not just the early dev versions) than how could this bet not be honored? I bet Josh et al. will  do the right thing here.

 Wink

Can someone please tell me what I do with the two downloads on the original post to get this to start working Sad I really want to mine this coin!

Have you mined other coins?

It's a fairly easy process that is virtually about the same.  Two steps. Sign up for an account on one of those pools list in the first post. Download the program "guiminer scrypt".  Log in to the pool where you have the account and click on 'getting started' for the settings you need to mine.

MNC isn't a bad first coin to mine because it has a low difficulty so you'll collect full coins quickly.
2393  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are litecoin or other coin users interested in a nootropic supplier? on: May 06, 2013, 02:11:54 PM
Sounds like a very stimulating product  !

I recommend heading to Atlantis.
2394  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Mining in 10 Years? on: May 03, 2013, 08:25:19 PM
Probably going to end up that AI's will start harvesting humans to mine BTC. The human slave minds will be processing information that is sent to them rendered as holographic simulations, but in fact, are actually hashing algorithm translations that ASICH's are really good at working out.

Hey actually I think that explains 'The Matrix',come to think of it.
2395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Solomining Bitbar on: May 03, 2013, 07:56:51 PM
I have 4 7970s and 4 7950s plus a small botnet of 45 computers (my company's office). Smiley

Haha nice man, your own little botnet eh hehe... high five to you...

Ack that sucks to hear.  Had a low auto threshold payment of 2.5 so that's a lot of transaction frees Sad

Not that I'm bitter. I realize setting up a pool isn't the simplest thing to do in the world.. .

And thanks thep33t for your response on my 51% post.
2399  Economy / Speculation / Re: The bear market is on....Welcome to "Bearpocalypse Now" on: May 03, 2013, 05:43:15 PM
I'm not going to cash out all my coins into USD until 2014 at least.  2013 seems like an unlucky to cash out !

I think bitcoin is actually a more valid currency, and less manipulated, than most 'real' currencies being traded today.

Sure if you are looking at day by day, week by week, sure, good time to sell. See ya man !  Fine and fair point to leave.

I'm hanging in there. Couldn't care too much anywhere between $50 - $150 next few months. I never sell at a loss.

Please excuse my ignorance but isn't the 51% worry only if there is malicious intent? I'm a little unclear on this.

Said another way, don't you have to actually want to cause an attack if you have over 51% to cause problems? And if you aren't trying to cause damage, than it isn't a problem?
