2101  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL announces 28nm 600GH/S blade for $4680 on: August 17, 2013, 06:46:56 PM
When will the deliver though.... in about two or three weeks?

Nah more likely 2015.
2102  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNC just posted pics of their case, PCB samples coming next week \o/ on: August 14, 2013, 11:30:47 PM
THose 4 fans just look like off-the-shelf Noctua coolers to me.  Not implying anything... I trust KNC myself...but just saying...
2103  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL current state of affairs on: August 14, 2013, 10:56:00 PM
..... This will probably happen 2 weeks from now ...

Dude have you not been paying attention? They've been saying a great amount of progress will happen in '2 weeks' for 6 months straight now. I just don't get how people can trust this company, they've done nothing to earn it.  I would put the likelihood of that latest '2 weeks' statement of actually happening at about 2% - 3%.

2104  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: A plea to Yifu on: August 14, 2013, 10:47:52 PM
^^^ batch 3 wasn't overprice --- if it wasn't 3 months late. As is will be break even and get a small ROI but it's not as great investment as it looked originally.

As someone who has been to China and has friends in China, just wanted to say briefly that 'shit is different over there'. I'm not defending Yifu or apologizing for his lateness, but, folks got to keep in mind business is just done differently over there. If there is a customs problem that means that right person was not paid the right amount. Bribery is just the primary way business gets done over there, folks do not have the same legal protections or recourse available to them.  I don't know the details of the situation but that's just the fact of doing business with companies in China.

Even up to multinational company level, you have to pay many bribes 'fee's' to many people and you are at there mercy, you can complain  to any sort of business organization or the police or anything. It's a much different system than in North america.
2105  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Which hardware (company) would/have you invested in? on: August 09, 2013, 06:14:14 PM
Right now I have some shares in KNC group buy and some Avalon batch 3 shares.  I think that's more than enough. Gonna sit tight. There is just too much risk, too many options, and too many unknowns for not enough profit potential in the entire mining arena, IMHO.

I'm going to see where the dust settles by October at least now.
2106  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Potential earnings for BFL 500GH/s ASIC on: August 07, 2013, 10:43:14 PM
The chances of any profits from purchasing a BFL product currently are next to 0.

Orders made now probably would not have a chance of arriving until the better half of 2014 is over.

You are far better off to do as suggested and just buy bitcoins.  If you really want to get into mining, a Avalon clone, KNC, or Bitfury are gambles with much better odds.
2107  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: UPDATED! [Live-Group Buy].5BTC = 2.8Gh/s KNCminer Jupiter *11 Sold [Selling #12] on: August 07, 2013, 12:43:03 AM
Due to a stag in Vegas which cost me entirely stoopid amount of $ and the resulting aftermath,

I'm open to any offers of purchase of my 6 shares of this group buy. I bought into the 5th Saturn.  PM me if you have an offer.

I can either have the shares transferred or just give you my online wallet p/w for the account in which I paid from (and where the dividends will be going).

2108  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [3] countdown! on: July 30, 2013, 07:03:31 PM
Thanks Avalon. I know I cussed you a few times, but thank you for finally coming through!

Oh my...!

So beautiful !   Cry

Arrived finally !  Yayyya !
2109  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining bitcoin with 1st gen hw doesnt seem to make sense at all by next year on: July 23, 2013, 06:56:47 PM
Well the good thing about a free fed-free market is that the price will balance with demand. If it is not profitable to mine, price will fall and people will stop mining. Or, more likely, the opposite will happen. It's sort of like a magical self-regulating system somewhat.

But as said, it is really hard to guess the price. So many new ASIC companies coming out, but who will keep the schedule? Sort of like horse racing these days.....but tHe Avalon clones alone will really bring the ASICs to the masses.
2110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin Release - First Scientific Computing Cryptocurrency on: July 17, 2013, 11:19:05 PM
Something must have gone wrong with my mining software I think now.

First 48 hours after launch, made about 200 coins.

I've been running the same 2 quad core CPUs for 7 days straight now, and no new coins ( -0- ). Is this even possible?

I upgraded the client to the new version. Does anyone know if anyone else has had this problem, or if there is anything else I could try? The  program is definitely running but can't get anything mined at all.
2111  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Butterfly Labs shipping 300 units a day on: July 17, 2013, 11:13:44 PM
It's not so much 'fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me'.

This is more apt : 'fool me once, shame on you, fool me 308 times, I'm a moron for taking anything this company says as remotely possibly accurate.'
2112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PRIMECOIN: difficulty is going ballistic - miners hold on to your coins on: July 15, 2013, 02:27:42 AM
Holy crap wow . That was fast.
2113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin Release - First Scientific Computing Cryptocurrency on: July 15, 2013, 02:22:39 AM
I don't know if it's the difficulty sky-rocketing already, luck or something wrong with my config.

But in 2 quad core pc's mined about 200 coins in the first 48 hours, and then I have not found a single block in the last 4 days.  A q6600 and a i3. Does this seem possible? Seems to be running okay but seems incredibly unlikely...

You have been updating your client all those days though, right?

As if you are still using the initial/original client heck no surprise you stopped doing well when everyone else upgraded to more-efficient clients...

-MarkM-

No I have not, thanks Mark.

I've been away the last couple of days.

I've been away last 4 days. Is XPM on an exchange now?

2116  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon Batch #3 & More on: July 11, 2013, 10:50:26 PM
Awesome to hear Batch 3 is shipping so soon!

Late "a few weeks" is pretty funny, but whatever Smiley

I'm surprised that people would opt for a refund personally. I don't have tons of faith that Metafury and KNC (even though I have shares) will ship when they say. I think Batch 3 won't have a crazy-quick ROI but if you look at running for at least year, it really isn't that bad of a deal.

But also glad that folks to have that option...thanks Avalon.
2117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Primecoin Buzz - First Android App for Primecoin ! on: July 09, 2013, 11:46:21 PM
This is pretty good to see!  Keep the dev work .
2118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin backed by torrent files on: July 09, 2013, 04:12:43 AM
Well I thought it was a good story!

Could have used a few more explosions or gratuitous naked chicks but that could just be my pref.
2119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin Release - First Scientific Computing Cryptocurrency on: July 09, 2013, 03:51:48 AM
It's so nice to be able to CPU mine a coin again.

Makes me nostalgic!

And a good work out for my i3 which has been pretty idle recently.
2120  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Group Buy] Avalon ASIC Batch 3 [CLOSED- Seven 4 module Avalons ordered] on: July 09, 2013, 03:30:07 AM
This is starting to look rather grim for us to make any money.  Any update on when these might start shipping?

Really I think we'll all be fine in the long term. We missed the first ASIC train leaving the station where you could make a ROI in a couple of weeks but we are still in good enough shape. It's yet to be seen how many units BFL will continue to deliver, and whether all the other new companies coming up are going to ship anytime soon.

Still a lot of unknowns but I think we'll break even in about a 100 days of mining or so than just profit after that, when there may be a million ASICS around or still just a limited few thousands.

Anyways shipping should be 'soon' I think 3 weeks perhaps. From what I can gather Batch 2 is nearing compeletion, I'd estimate 90% or more of it has shipped, just from what I read.

Worst thing is though I imagine many, many Avalon clones and Klondikes will be coming online before Batch 3 is done, which really grinds my gears. But overall, things ain't so bad.
