2141  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [3] countdown! on: June 29, 2013, 02:25:41 AM
Ya things aren't looking that great.

I was fine with the lateness up until I found out that Avalon is shipping the many 10'000's of chips out before we are getting the product we ordered months earlier  Cry   And now there looks like a decent amount of evidence indicates that a lot of pre-mining is being with the machines before they are being sent out, which is even worse.

Of all the people ordering from Avalon, batch 3 has the worst ROI, behind most of the Avalon clones that are coming out (which are much cheaper than what we paid...)

Perhaps the Cyber-Gods are getting back at me for bashing BFL all those times about how late they were...

Good work man... thanks for contributing to BTC economy.   Checking out...

Sorta funny that it is about 10x easier to make these coins than it is a pool for them.

Neat idea nice work.
2145  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [AVALON] - I got my ASIC Thread (Batch #2) on: June 28, 2013, 02:48:37 AM
I'd really like to know how much mining they've been doing for the burn-in.  Need a friendly IT Super Hero dude to do some foresenics and figure it out for all of us.

Worker 1AYdAw8CcrQ2wx55LTbFHRn5bxgNZhaRLW seems like a unique name. I wonder if eligius dudes would be able to let us know how much mining was done with that worker.
2146  Economy / Securities / Re: [AMC]-The Official Active Mining Cooperative Discussion on: June 28, 2013, 02:35:09 AM
Hmmm considering buying in.

I like the looks of AMC, and it seems well thought-out enough.

But one thing that I get hung up on is the amount of $ they need to raise. Currently the .000025 shares represent upwards of 3800 BTC.  That's a heck of lot of bit-clams to raise from the community.  Am I correct in understanding if they don't raise this capital the plans to build the new chips will not go through?

I don't know if I can see that magnitude of BTC being invested in the company, no matter how good things look.

2147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BTG BitGem REQUIRED UPDATE 0.4.1.5 BEFORE 15 JUL | Try new GemWallet. on: June 27, 2013, 11:50:08 PM
I'm using the new update. I just d/led it from github, for the first time, about 2 hours ago.

edit: Ok ya bitgemd is showing the version as 0.4.1-nvc....

So have the gui windows wallet bins been updated, but not the linux bitgemd ?   That's disappointing if true.  Thanks for any help...

edit 2: erased all earlier files. i might have gimped something. re/dling block chain seeing if this will work one more time...

edit 3: ok no more error message now, could be good.  Does 11419 blocks sound about right?
2148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BTG BitGem REQUIRED UPDATE 0.4.1.5 BEFORE 15 JUL | Try new GemWallet. on: June 27, 2013, 11:15:10 PM
Kinda bored thought I'd try this co..err..gem out today.

The block explorer is down though. Is this coin working ok currently?

I'm getting a "checkpoint is too old. wait for block chain to download or notify developers" in my bitgemd.

So I guess I'm notifying the developers currently.  Does anyone know if 11417 blocks sounds right for the network? I can't download anymore...

glendall

I think this is a great idea for a site. Do a BTC-TC IPO in a few months Smiley

So what makes this coin unique?

SistaFista is profiting off of this one, as opposed to the last 50 other scamalts, made by other people.
2151  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BitSyncom, will all the chip orders ship together? on: June 26, 2013, 03:22:48 AM
Oh thought they were getting the chips and then sending them out to customers from Avalon HQ.  That makes it somewhat better then...

Still.  Think they have de-validated their own motto though, "ASICs on time".

I think with the community working together and the dedicated work on the Klondike design though, folks are gonna have those Ava-Clones in no time, many even before batch 2+3 are done shipping.  Hope I'm wrong, of course.
2152  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BitSyncom, will all the chip orders ship together? on: June 26, 2013, 03:07:12 AM
Wow... sorta stunned that Avalon is gonna send out the chip orders before their 3 month delayed batch 3.  That's incredibly lame.  I thought it was a no-brainer that they would ship stuff out in the order that they received their orders.

I wasn't really too upset with the big delay shipping batch 3, the ROI still looked fine, and delays are what make ASICs ASICs. But now that my ROI is pretty much sunk...really sucks...while folks ordering months after me at the same company are in a better position  Huh  Cry
2153  Economy / Speculation / Re: Confess, triple digit believers on: June 25, 2013, 09:05:45 PM
Sorry what are you talking about exactly? Triple digit BTC USD price I presume?  ... Price was triple digits earlier today and has spent most the last 6 months in triple digits. Confused  Huh
2154  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Shadowrun and Bitcoin's roots on: June 25, 2013, 01:55:03 AM
Actually it was Neal Stephenson who nailed it.  Some of his work comes as close to the concept of 'Bitcoin' as you can get, and he was writing about it in the late nineties. Namely this sort story:

2155  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [AVALON] - I got my ASIC Thread (Batch #2) on: June 20, 2013, 09:18:55 PM
Anyone know, or have any wild guesses, about roughly what percentage of batch 2 has shipped?
My numbers put Confirmed Avalon received count at 47 units.  But that is only what people have actually reported.  I assume the number is higher (obviously).
I would estimate 10-20% of batch #2 as of yesterday.
I'd say 30% max have been shipped and received.

Thanks man.

30% max eh? Ugh. Well, I guess they are rolling out pretty quick from now on.

Still looks like my batch 3 is a ways off though  Undecided

^^^^ I don't think anyone figured this out yet.

Maybe ASICMINER is reconfiguring there entire setup in plans to bring an additional 200 TH online.
2159  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: June 18, 2013, 06:39:44 PM
Well here I have some infos for you:
- Package says 2x 500$ and is sent by DHL-Express (customs fee is ~24% - 25%)
- DHL send me a Email for a comany and asks for a EORI-Number... In the telephon call I explained that I'm a private person, I don't have a clue what that number is and he said then I should send him the order confirmation from Avalon to confirm this.
- Customs fee have to paid to DHL at my door

Now waiting to arrive Smiley

Whew 25% custom fees! Really ? Is that normal, I had no idea they could be that high.
2160  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Unresponsive Motherboard Problem on: June 18, 2013, 06:11:55 PM
Would not hurt to unplug and pop the battery from the CMOS/BIOS for a few hours .  I've more than a couple of mobos over the years that got so scrambled they wouldn't post but would be fine after a powerless 'time out' period.
