2041  Economy / Economics / Re: FBI seizes Silk Road. BTC backbone broken. on: October 02, 2013, 07:59:28 PM
Ya I was surprised by that as well. If dude had at least, at minimum , a few million bucks in profit, you think the last place he would want to live (& safely) would be the U.S.

Maybe he just flew how for a visit or something. If we was living in S.F than ya, he's an idiot.
2042  Economy / Speculation / Re: U.S. Debt Default Bullish for Bitcoin? on: October 01, 2013, 01:23:54 AM
I was wondering about this as well.  The default is due for tomorrow. While everyone expects them to work out a deal, who knows.  The couple of hundred of people who hold power may have more to gain personally by defaulting the whole country than then care for every other American.

If this happens then I would expect an overnight boost in Bitcoin's USD price. No question.  Though it would be a small, steady and gradual boost... not a big spike.
2043  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: September 30, 2013, 08:22:34 PM
I don't think  waiting is necessarily a bad idea. There are many unknowns currently, friedcat could conceivably be waiting for the dust to settle.

While the last 2-3 months, and current times, are pretty crazy for the amount of ASICs coming out, and with ROI windows being broken by a few weeks worth of delays, it is conceivable to imagine that things will stabilize in a further 2 or 3 months, to a point where there a much smaller range of gh/$ mining equipment.

Maybe friedcat had something like these 3 options to choose from:

option1) spent a massive amount of capital to rush to market a gen 2 product that he might not be able to sell, depending on whether all of knc, cointerra, hashfast, etc etc etc all ship on time.

option2) spend another 2 months of development time to double the efficiency / hashes of his design, and some ASIC companies are out of the picture.

option3) spend another 4 months to make assure that his design, and amount of ordered chips, will be have a profitable gh/$ ratio in addition to knowing that his product will be one of the better options available on market.

Just saying, waiting is not a necessarily a bad strategy.  Asicminer has a large amount of resources and experience.  Say they sitting on 5 million dollars, just to make a figure up. Conceivably you could spend 5 million dollars in development costs 6 months from now and still have a product that is the most cost effective when reaching market, instead of 5 million 2 or 3 months ago, when your product may or may not be a complete wash.

I don't even think Friedcat is waiting. Just saying, that there would be some merits to that. And total hashing output is important, but not as important as how much you are paying for your TH's and how fast you can scale, which is something he seems to be focusing on. It's possible that friedcat's 'gen 2' may be better one of the better than the early gen 2 products, and come out at just the right time for it to be the best option available to consumers. It's not an inconceivable scenario...and potentially better than rushing towards releasing product just as fast as they can.

2044  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: September 30, 2013, 02:40:12 AM
I have a question about the gen2 chips. According to friedcat's latest update, the order size has not been decided. Does that mean the gen2 chips has been designed and tested? If so, do we know its specification?

Possibly, for the first question. No specifications or details at all have been released.
2045  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: September 30, 2013, 02:39:20 AM
Have you seen cex.io - bitfury commodity exchange? It basically sells GH/s at ghash.io pool. Maybe friedcat could go the same way.

Huh interesting, haven't seen that site before....  I wonder how safe it is to use though being based in Cyprus...after all the crap that happened there over the last year it's not a promising place to do any sort of business that may run afoul of the banking cartels.
2046  Economy / Securities / Re: How To Migrate Your ASICMINER-PT shares from BTCT to Havelock on: September 26, 2013, 08:39:34 PM
When are the AM100 shares being transferred? No rush. Just curious...
2047  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Whats everyone doing with their GPU now? on: September 26, 2013, 08:38:01 PM
Go buy GTA V and play it with them Smiley

I wish man Smiley   PC version of GTA V  is probably 1.5 years off of or more.
2048  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Whats everyone doing with their GPU now? on: September 26, 2013, 07:26:02 PM
I sold all but 2 x 7950's.  Now I have a deadly gaming system which is cool.  But I'm gonna be mining with the cards in about another month, when it gets colder. Basically free heat for my small apartment, which is nice.
2049  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Refunding[Live-Group Buy].5BTC = 2.8Gh/s KNCminer Jupiter *11 Sold on: September 25, 2013, 10:34:11 PM
Thanks, refunded.

At long last this headache is over.
2050  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER Speculation Thread on: September 24, 2013, 05:49:07 PM
I think i will craft some options especially for you Smiley

I admire your optimism, but I'm curious, what do you think will keep the share price up after tomorrow's div of < .01?

Hardware sales will be big but most important is board statment...
yes, but we won't actually see anything for several weeks.  Until then, people have to live with weak dividends, and that might prove to be difficult for some.

Weaker dividends compared to who? I'm curious. Which securities offer better divididends than Asicminer, even at 0.01 ?
2051  Economy / Securities / Migrate to Bitfunder or Havelock? on: September 24, 2013, 07:45:21 AM
Any opinions?

After the obivious change-up that happened yesterday, have to move my shares to one or the other and I haven't used either.  Anybody really prefer one over the other?

500TH!  So 10x what is currently mining next month. .... Hello..!

Just in time, with the incredible amount of hashing power coming online.

Awesome... Great to hear there will be more regular updates and the other plans as well.
2054  Economy / Speculation / Re: Did anyone else notice CNY/BTC volume surpassed aggregate USD/BTC volume today? on: September 24, 2013, 01:37:37 AM
Right on. Great news!  I always thought that BTC would appeal to a number of Chinese folks.

Part of my reasoning stems from many of the Chinese-owned stores in my city (everywhere?) don't accept (or like) credit cards because they don't like paying the exorbitant fees. Which I can totally understand.

2055  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: CoinsVictory.com - Bet Bitcoins on PacMan, Tetris, Snake & Others | 50% Referral on: September 23, 2013, 10:01:56 PM
Hey dev, keeping working on this, think a lot of folks such as myself are still waiting to play some tetris for cold hard bitcoins.
2056  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: September 23, 2013, 09:37:29 PM
why not just keep them? You're not providing a single good reason for selling this cheap... You will still get the dividends regardless of the actual price on the market. And once friedcat comes with Gen 2 you will be happy that you haven't sold.
Because I've no longer have so much trust on AM as I had before, and because psycology is strange: I hate to have missed the opportunity to make big gains, but I'd hate even more to actually take losses. So I'm selling at a price that would make me go on par (and this would still mean I've partially "lost" the time I've spent in doing this trades).

But... I'm partially convinced I could wait a bit after all, so I've slashed the sell to only ~half of my shares.
(not that I think the order will actually get filled)

You are not alone Lohoris.... sums up my thought process on AM as well.  I made a lot of profit trading prior to the summer... but I see now with AM my judgement was a bit clouded. Couldn't believe it was dropping so much after being on the ride up from 1.3 to 5.0 and should of sold back when I was down 15% (like I normally do) instead of riding it out and hoping for a turn around at like the 60% loss I'm at now.

But that being said I'm holding on  Smiley . Ya don't think those 4-5 btc-a-share-days are coming back but still think asicminer is undervalued right now at 1.35 or whatever it is.

Vycid was driving me nuts with all his constant posts on how asicminer should be worth less etc etc etc but hey got to at least give him props for making the move to short, he's the guy making a nice profit in the end,  the annoying bastard / Smiley

chenchunyu88 I'd be happy to sell you my 6 shares for the 3 btc I put in for them.

I think you must be getting close to the 78 now.
2058  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] Virtual Community Exchange [WINDING DOWN] on: September 23, 2013, 03:15:27 PM
Well no doubt some folks made money in today's panic.... like Labcoin, wow: 24hr low of 0.00025, high of 0.0027    (yup , those are the correct amount of 0's in that).
2059  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: UPDATED! [Live-Group Buy].5BTC = 2.8Gh/s KNCminer Jupiter *11 Sold [Selling #12] on: September 23, 2013, 02:45:05 PM
Yes I don't think anyone wants to stay in the group buy.

If we want to be democratic we could set up a poll in a thread for folks to vote, or to a private vote through PMs to someone (I'll do it if need be).

But ya, don't think that is necessary personally, as I really doubt anyone wants to stay in.

How about this for a plan:

We have the refund google docs sheet, lets keep building on that. Check the sheet, if you aren't on it, add yourself. We'll set a deadline of [open to suggestions] Wednesday, Friday? I'll send PM's to those people who are NOT on the refund list letting them know that they have until the deadline to claim a refund.  There will undoubtedly be non-responders, they can be combined into a jupiter or two, if there are enough shares.  I think it's also safe to say that there is no question that the Saturns are not going to be purchased.

"re: So is everyone OK with receiving their BTC back in today's price? if not Sam Cole can wait until the price drops so he can buy at a lower rate so you will get more BTC back ... "

I think this is the only way to go myself. It's just too messy otherwise.

That's great news and a relief to hear. Thank you for this arrangement Sam Cole.

Thanks for taking care of this today ragin... I think everyone can be much less worried that you're going to run away with the miners now, and we can proceed to just refund this mess as best we can and move on.
